Merger Proposal Expected Today
Pellaken replied to westcoast99's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Charles Tupper? wasent he the 2nd PM? recently no. but then again no one (other then stanfield) has made a stab at it. -
PEI is the only province that accepts its faults. so perhaps we SHOULD have a leader from the island.

I've taken this test many times before, but each time I get a different result. I guess as I grow my views mature. it turns out that the only direction I'm moving in is up. Economic Left/Right: -5.50 Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.08 the first test I took, on this, my L/A balance was near -6. ever since it's been going up, mroe authortarian, as I begin to realize how stupid some people can be.

what is the goal of islam? to live as god wants since islam is the right religion, and that is what god wants, then islam is not a failure.

craig the maritimes (and maybe newfoundland too) is perfectly situated geographally also we are economically ready for the future. The maritimes will become the economic hub of the future, while Alberta fails because it's entire economey is based on oil, which will eventually become useless. we should declare independance right now. when we become rich, you'll come crying and begging to us to join. remember last time you did that? 1867? what happens after that? you exploited us, and ruined us. I dont think we'll fall for that again.

Merger Proposal Expected Today
Pellaken replied to westcoast99's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
we will have a NDP official opposition the PC's and CA will form a coalition to beat them out in terms of seats and the merger will happen then, based on what they've worked out this summer/fall -
Pat Binns Bernard Lord Mike Harris Janet Ecker Jim Flarahity Tony Clement Brian Pallister Gary Filmon Jim Prentice Steven Harper Ralph Klien Gordon Campbell these 12 men are the only realistic leadership possibly contenders. I'd like to get this list down to 3 (or even 5) feel free to expand on why any of these guys are not good.

ignoring craig's usual anti-eastern rambling: I think an atlantic union would not work. though a maritime union with an invite extended to newfoundland would. Newfoundland is unlikely to join, and it therefore should not be a requirement. odd you'd bring this up just now, our poli-sci class just started talking about it. anyways there are 5 basic regions in the maritimes: PEI Cape Breton Island (CBI) French New Brunswick, or Acadia (ACD) English New Brunswick (ENB) and the Nova Scotia Mainland (NSM) I think that most of the regions fear dominaiton my NSM. Therefore, we must takes steps to avoid that. my suggestion is to give extra seats in the legislature to these regions. first of all, we distribute 60 seats equally to the maritimes. 2 extra seats are added to ACD, CBI, and PEI, giving us a total of 66. Newfoundland will get extra seats based on the average voters in the maritimes (with 60 ridings) This would give us: NSM=26 EMB=14 ACD-10+2=12 CBI-5+2=7 PEI-5+2=7 TOTAL=66 NFL=16 LAB=1 TOTAL=83 The capital should be in moncton, and the province / independant nation should be bi-lingual. thats the basics...

Paul Wells: Mackay A "sucky Baby"...
Pellaken replied to sir_springer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
my responce to the idiots article: give me one good reason why the smaller party would unite with the larger party, on anything but equality? I doubt MacKay wants caucus equality, that would just be silly, but equality in picking the leader is required. we are not talking about a merger of people, we are talking about a merger of parties. so dont go all "but each person is equal" on me now. we are not talking about individual members, we are talking about parties, as a whole the only way a merger will work is to get the right leader in. the only way to get the right leader, is to give each party one-member-one-vote, and to weight each party's vote to equal eachother. that means if the alliance has 120,000 members, and the PC's have 60,000 members, that yes, PC votes will count for 2. in the end, everyone acts in his or her self interest. explain how it is in the PC's self interest to be taken over by the alliance. taking 12 seats in the east, again and again, with the off-chance hope that when the liberals fall, people will turn PC seems to me like a much better option. Nethier side wants to see things fail. unfortunatly, the Alliance is very short sighted. sharing power with the PC's for 3 months is just that. 3 months. due to its larger membership, the Alliance will eventually win out. I cannot see why the Alliance cannot offer a leadership race with 2 equal parties. they survived stockwell day, surly they could survive whoever the PC's throw in there. a better option for leadership is thus: each member of each party casts 2 ballots one for their leader-of-choice and another, where they have crossed off all "acceptable" other candidates. the candidate who takes the most votes for leader-of-choice AND has the highest average "acceptable" votes in both parties, becomes leader. as for MacKay wanting his mommy, what does that have to do with anything. perhaps he does, but who cares? I'll tell you who cares, someone who wants to see these talks fail. -
you sound like a PCer to me.

I'm gonna post this at other forums. basacally, I am going to total everyone. the people with the fewest "no"'s will be still eligable. then, from then, the ones with the highest average ranking.

harper will never be the leader of a united right party nor will day, or manning or clark, mackay, or charest fopr that matter. would YOU want muldoon as leader? then eastern conservatives dont want Manning as leader either. you need someone neutral.
-
thats bull no one, especially the NDP, will allow the freedom of religion to be infringed.
-
if you want the PEI government to stop wasting money, then there is a simple soulition. tell your friends on the island to vote for the Island New Democrats, and to vote for me, in district 11. we will spend money in hospitals and schools, rather then the golf courses that are currently the norm.

weather you think its a human right or not is not the issue. it is, and that's the end of that. its not what "I" think, its what the court thinks. you argue tradition, well guess what? traditions are made to be broken, and its about time this one is thrown out the window. its called progress, get used to it.
-
why dont YOU get serisous you want to FORCE people to not get married. we want to leave the option open. These are human rights, you cannot go against human rights just because someone voted it so.
-
you want to use the government to prevent gay marriage THAT's social engenering
-
tory social policies are better alliance social policies try to force the wrong religion on people.
-
with MacKay, you need hourly (if not secondly) updates on what his opinions are, they change so often.
