when canada was founded, it was us sending transfer payments to you! hopefully, once we get an NDP government here on PEI, we can get the economey moving, and we wont need transfers anymore. as for who should and should not be a province, I submit that it is ontario that should be 2 provinces, not the east that should be one.
-
wow... well we are a big-tent party. welcome abord... for this election at least. I hope you stick around though. we may be a tad to the left, but we are honest.
-
you did not answer my question and for that why is alberta a province? worse yet, saskatchewan?, it's just lines on the map. why does ANY political unit exist? various reasons why does PEI exist? tradition THAT's the answer. topic over, the end.

why is ontario a province?

late news from CBC newsworld tonight the PC's and CA are in serious discussion, at this moment, to unite the right. some suggestions for the new leader are Ray Speaker, former Reform MP Bill Davis, former Ontario PC Premier Don Mazankowski, former PC Deputy PM the new name would be "The Conservative Party" and all terms would need to be acepted by both parties a leadership conveniton would need to be held and all this would need to be done within a few weeks. lets see what happens tomarrow morning!

simple soulition. it takes a few steps first of all, re-named marriage, "civil unions" then, allow churches to instantaniously call all "civil unions" between a man and a woman, marriage. this should make most people happy.
-
what the? I dont THINK "howie" is howard hampton. if not, then who?
-
thats what I said. why is everyone so affraid of the word marriage? fair is fair, either everyone has it, or no one has it.

I support gay marriage, but not gay marriage. in other words: I support the right for gay people to leagally join in something CALLED marriage by themselvs AND the government. but not called marriage by the churches.

137-132 more liberal backbenchers voted for the motion, thenm against it. carrying those numbers through cabinet (had they been able to free vote) 157-112 interesting split, consitering most polls show the public at 50-50 the parliament is more right wing then the voters are thank god the NDP is tehre to keep things pon track. who know's what we would otherwise have... a parliament that voted AGAINST basic human rights? unbelivable.

can SOMEONE explain where this idea that PR means no more riding-elected MP's comes from?
-

I've canvassed poll 1, and part of poll 9. basacally, all of the riding west of the old rail-road tracks. I will start into the rest of the riding when I go back to charlottetown, but due to my time commitments as a teenager, and a student, I will not be able to canvass the entire riding. though, I did manage to get 10 signs in the ground, at intersections, etc. they are the 2X2 lawn signs. the party gives everyone 25 for free. I'm saving 10 for private proterty (AKA voters lawns) and 5 for replacements, incase any get damaged.

The Only Two Days That Matter In The Future
Pellaken replied to nova_satori's topic in The Rest of the World
you are an extremist fanatic how DARE you try to make the world a better place! how DARE you care for people what is the world coming to. but serisouly religion is too scary. no matter what one you chose, it seems to support violence. -
unfortunatly, we were unable to feild a full slate. patronage is so big here, that people are affraid to say they are new democrats, or even be associated with us, for fear of losing their jobs. polls often report half our true vote because people are too scared to tell the pollster they support the NDP. districts 1, 2, and 15 will not have Island New Democrats running in them. expect turnout to suffer because of it. Due to the fear, we were unable to get candidates quickly (they did not want to run for fear of reprisals) and we did not get the required 10 signatures (people did not want to "sign thier life away") I managed to get in, under the wire. Here are my thoughts on the election, etc... a riding by riding prediction: http://www.cbc.ca/peivotes2003/ Kings County: (strong PC) SOURIS - ELMIRA (1) prediction: re-election of Andy Mooney (PC) MORELL-FORTUNE BAY (2) re-election of Kevin MacAdam (PC) GEORGETOWN-BALDWIN'S RD (3) re-election of Mike Currie (PC) MONTAGUE-KILMUIR (4) re-election of Jim Bagnall (PC) MURRAY RIVER - GASPEREAUX (5) re-election of Pat Binns (PC) -Premier- Queens County: (fairly PC) BELFAST - POWNAL BAY (6) re-election of Wilbur MacDonald (PC) GLEN STEWART - BELLEVUE COVE (7) election of David McKenna (PC) *PC's incumbant, old MLA not running.* TRACADIE - FORT AUGUSTUS (8) re-election of Mildred Dover (PC) STANHOPE - EAST ROYALTY (9) re-election of Jamie Ballem (PC) WINSLOE - WEST ROYALTY (15) election of Wayne Collins (PC) *PC's incumbant* NORTH RIVER - RICE POINT (16) re-election of Ron MacKinley (L) CRAPAUD - HAZEL GROVE (17) re-election of Norman MacPhee (PC) PARK CORNER - OYSTER BED (18) too close to call, see below Charlottetown area (PC/L fight) SHERWOOD - HILLSBOROUGH (10) re-election of Elmer MacFadyen (PC) PARKDALE - BELVEDERE (11) I'll win but seriosuly: re-election of Chester Gillan (PC) CHARLOTTETOWN-KINGS SQUARE (12) election of Richard Brown (L) CHARLOTTETOWN - ROCHFORD SQUARE (13) too close to call CHARLOTTETOWN - SPRING PARK (14) re-election of Wes MacAleer (PC) Prince County: (L & ND strength) BORDEN - KINKORA (19) too close to call KENSINGTON - MALPEQUE (20) re-election of Mitch Murphy (PC) WILMOT - SUMMERSIDE (21) election of Gary Robichaud (ND) -Party Leader- ST. ELEANORS - SUMMERSIDE (22) re-election of Helen MacDonald (PC) CASCUMPEC - GRAND RIVER (23) election of Peter Robinson (ND) EVANGELINE - MISCOUCHE (24) too close to call WEST POINT - BLOOMFIELD (25) election of Ed Kilfoil (ND) ALBERTON - MIMINEGASH (26) re-election of Cletus Dunn (PC) TIGNISH - DEBLOIS (27) re-election of Gail Shea (PC) Running Totals: PC-18 ND-3 L-2 TCTC-4 PARK CORNER - OYSTER BED (18) The problem here is 2 very weak candidates. The PC Incumbant has been all but abandon by her party, and many residents are upset at a new garbage facility that was built here. unfortunatly, the Liberal is too weak to really do much about it. The ND candidate, Ken Bingham has name recogonition, and this may be a real 3-way race to the finish. my money's on Bingham CHARLOTTETOWN - ROCHFORD SQUARE (13) 2 very strong candidates running here. PC Incumbant, Jeff Lantz is not running, leaving the way open for popular Charlottetown Mayor, George MacDonald to run. He is against Robert Ghiz, Liberal Leader. This one will be a nail biter untill all ballots are counted. I predict MacDonald will squeak out Ghiz BORDEN - KINKORA (19) Both the Liberal and Conservative weakest candidate are in this riding, the home of Gary Robichaud, Island New Democratic Leader. ND Candidate, James Rodd is a farmer, and may not have time to do as much as he would like to do. I think Liberal candidate, Lorne Sutherland may win this riding, but expect turnout to be at record lows. EVANGELINE - MISCOUCHE (24) Acadians are angry at their MLA, who has not lived in the riding in years. The Liberals, using all their brains, put someone up against him who does not speak french. Voters will reject both of these men, and the ND vote will go up... not far enough I fear. I predict a victory for Wilfred Arsenault, PC incumbant. Total: PC-20 ND-4 L-3 Pop Vote: PC-55% L-35% ND-10%

Eves as a unite-the-right candidate if he can pull this election off??? perhaps, perhaps not.

your forgetting, thats what god wants, because the quran is the word of god not the opinion of pellaken, but presented to try to open minds

indeed I will unfortunatly untill then, I will likely only be posting in this topic.

that's the plan! and the tory too it'd take 1000 votes to win, though 900 can do it. saying I'll get 300 is a stretch, so you can see the problem. thanks for the vote of confidance though!
-
for the record, I will be running for the Island New Democrats in the riding if Parkdale-Belvadere. I'll keep you updated in the thread. many university students like our plan to freeze tuition, and our possible idea to cut tuition by $2000 a student (its much more complex, and its only an idea at this point) in short, I am going to lose by more then a 1000 votes. but I will still try. I am aiming for 250 votes, and a victory in poll #1. anything more would be a bonus.

Affirmative Discrimination and Racism

I dont know what that comes to, but its a start for sure. on one level, I would like to think that there is something mentaly wrong with me. the fact that I cant get a girlfriend REALLY bothers me. anyways, I digress. -

I moved from Ontario to PEI between grades 5 and 6. there were things that I was on year ahead on, and things I was one year back on. I did go to a gifted school in ontairo. I have to say that I felt pretty "average" there... there were kids smarter then me. had I not moved to this goddamn island, I would likely have had a much better life. I did not know that anyone here once lived in PEI. where abouts did you live? I live in Summerside most of the time, though I live at UPEI for alot. Craig I dont care weather you think I'm an einstin or not. I have dysraphia which affects my english skills. My math skills were extrodinary, though they have fallen off. If I were interested, I probably could be a world famous scientist, working on spacial physics. Unofrunatly, while I may be interested in weather or not the universe is curved, I am NOT interested in the sh*t that you have to go through to become a scientist of that calibur. Also. einstien and other "genisus" were mostly left wing socially, and somewhat right wing economically. kinda like me. -

I was told that my IQ is in the einstine range I've also been told that if you dont use your brains you lose them I know that school was so boring to me that I lost all interest and I've heard that I am not alone. lotsa 'smart' kids feel very held back my school. it is only now, in university, when I am actually interested by school. I am egar to lean new things in class, which is rare enough. unfortunatly, I doubt my IQ is as high as it once was. the education system is broken. it does not reward brains, rather, it hurts you if you are smart, in favour for those kids in atheletics.
