The flipper or pyramid styles gave goalies confidence to come out and cut off long shots at a time of the super wind up slap caused by Bobby Hull curved sticks..but totally vulnerable inside up front to screen shots, stick side low shots, anything over the shoulder and in the corner. As a goalie coach I hated seeing pyramid come in. Tony Esposito and Bruce Gamble were the only two I saw do it well.
