  1. You've likely seen more white people, period, since Canada is 83% white. Go to China to see a lot racist Chinese.
  2. Is that how you evaluate a country? You should move. It goes further because it's a poor country that doesn't have the demand drivers that we do. We get paid more, but we pay more. See how that works?
  3. I know why I am. Don't know about you. How is Canada a dump?
  4. I don't think I want to be president of Uruguay, even if they wanted me. But he seems to be doing well, happy with his life. Demonstrates that money isn't everything. And I'm sure in Uruguay, $770 goes a lot further than here.
  5. I think politicians should be paid a decent wage for what they do. But, when they urge belt tightening on others, they should tighten their own belt first. Symbolism is important. This guy is setting a good example, that it's not about being in power to enrich yourself, and that if many of your people are poor, you don't splurge in luxury.
  6. Do we really have to use "N word" on this forum? How do we know it wasn't an Afro-Canadian who wrote the word, since many Afro-Country of residence people like to hurl it around quite a bit. Just, you know, shouting out to his dawgz. Racism is everywhere, in every direction. Toilet stalls would not be my first area of concern. Just remove it like you would other graffiti.
  7. He donates the rest of his salary. Seems to have attracted a pretty good mind.
  8. Have a pretzel. Oh, you don't need one, you're already twisting yourself into one just to not have to say that non-whites can be just as racist and discriminatory.; Was it also you who asked how many white people have family owned businesses? The answer is lots of them. Jeesus.
  9. Actually it's a Muslim shop. They're all Muslims there and all said they can't touch a woman.
  10. Catholics and Christians? Examples? I don't agree with any religion being able to discriminate. Like the Muslin tax driver who had to allow guide dogs in his taxi.
  11. And yet women seem to go to coed gyms all the time. I would't go to an all male gym, and the coed ones I go to seem to have significant numbers of women present. What's wrong with those women that they don't feel predated?
  12. Big diff between excusing somebody from certain duties or letting them wear their headgear, and allowing them to discriminate against others. How do we allow Sikhs to discriminate against others?
  13. I fail to see how Obama bears responsibility only for punting the punting the tax cuts down the road? Isn't it Congress that wants to keep them?
  14. Really? Lots of guys would attack women in the gym? Was that the argument that allowed female only gyms to stand - too much chance of getting raped otherwise? Yet, we have plenty of gyms that serve both genders, including the ones I've used, and I've never heard of a woman getting raped or groped at the gym. Or are you talking about the horror of the phallocentric gaze?
  15. I agree. You should not be able to discriminate for religious reasons. Period.
  16. No they don't, and that's the point.
  17. Two months after she asked for the cut? The shop needs to put up a sign saying women cut by appointment only. But again, if gyms can discriminate, why can't these guys?
  18. Do you support Vic Secret not selling their stuff to men?
  19. Yes they do ban a gender, as women only gyms etc do.
  20. And is there an injunction that men can't touch strange women in the Koran. The face coverings for women are not in the Koran, they are a cultural issue. Many Muslims are like your family, they are willing to touch strange women, they're more relaxed about it. I do know the Old Testament is all about what abominations gays are, so for a devout person this may be sufficient religious reason to not serve gays. By your interpretation, there's very little in the bible that speaks about modern practices at all. Personally I think discriminating against gays is stupid, but as long as we're going to allow people religious exemptions for certain kinds of discrimination, we have to grant that right to all religious people.
  21. I'm not sure offering her a cut two months later cuts it.
  22. Would he refuse if the woman asked for a man's cut? Some women wear buzz cuts. No gender specific skills required there. Would he/should he be able to refuse? This woman was obviously looking for trouble. But, in light of other decisions, she has a case, IMO. What about a Muslim doctor/dentist/podiatrist/physical therapist etc.?
  23. It's a men's barber shop. Most places that cater to men won't have somebody on staff that can do women's cuts. There's plenty of those about. This is a tough one, because it's one favored group (women) against another (minorities). Certainly men who complanied about being excluded from women only gyms got their cases denied.
  24. OK. Certainly the CPC will make that sort of argument, but to be fair, so would any other party in power. Flaherty says he has contingencies in place for the US fiscal cliff and the euro crisis. I hope so, maybe also have some to spare for the slow down in China.
  25. Yep. When revenues go down, it's the fault of the world economy. When they go up, it's because the conservatives are such good managers of the economy.
