  1. I'd calmly tell him he would need a warrant and let that be that. If its taken from me and not given back and theres no reason why, im having a chat with his supervisor and maybe a lawyer. Point is im not going to lose my shit and look for an excuse to get arrested for an actual crime.
  2. Thats why its a good idea to do some studying. Again thats what court is for. Ive read around that cell phones are the new frontier for privacy. Thats why my phone is pass locked. I know if i was in the girls shoes of my photos being shared like that, my lawyer would be getting a phone call...
  3. I think the gridlock happens because there are elections every two years with only a few senators up for election every time. I think it was designed thay way on purpose so to limit power given to their govt. however it has a side effect of gridlock
  4. I wouldnt say its a stretch.Put your antiestablishment bias aside. Drunk driving is a problem right? Put yourself in his shoes Say somebody makes an erratic driving move. Maybe drunk, maybe on cell phone, maybe made a mistake. They light up a smoke which as you know smells like well smoke plus theyre angrier than the average joe. Say they indeed had something to drink and as you would do things let them go on their way and got in a wreck. Maybe asking to put the smoke out sounds pretty reasonable to me...
  5. sounds like she didnt password lock her phone... Responsibility cuts both ways. Two people acted lrresponsible and are paying the price. Its a harsh world we live in.
  6. Your right its not a crime. However as bc2004 says its a cue for hiding something. Maybe the officer thought she was drunk driving and lit the smoke to "freshen the breath." Hmm...
  7. As per bc2004, it wasnt the lane change that got the cuffs, it was the cue of the cigarette and failing to follow direction. The officer most likely was trained, however his superiors said he didnt follow departmental procedure. We dont know if the officer finally informed her of what she was arrested for when she eventually cooled down. The same thing could be posed the other way around: is getting pulled over for a lane change and having a meltdown worth getting put in handcuffs over?
  8. Why would i mind? i just won a court case and i think unlawful confinement could possibly have taken place. Wouldnt it be smarter to do as rue says and talk to a lawyer about what happened and see what you got than lose my shit and walk into a real arrest?
  9. Agree. Maybe the lighting of the cigarette is one of those cues that the driver is hiding something or crap could hit the fan. Is wager its the most dangerous part of the job, walking up to a car and speaking to a driver they have no idea who they are and if they are going to get bushwhacked, ambushed, or a gong show takes place. I will say that both people's tempers got the better of them and we got a circus as the result.
  10. If i got detained without being told thw reason, why would i be pissing and moaning about that? The smart play would be to keep my trap shut and have mr lawyer take mr cop to the woodshed in court. Id be smiling if i didnt get told what i was detained for. Can you say case dismissed, crikey we arent in russia or north korea...
  11. We have heard this fairy tale about harper getting destroyed in debates the last go round. Apparently harper was no match for an ivy league professor and one of the most popular ndp leaders out there...
  12. Its one of those things that a decent message gets hijacked by nutbars. When the tea party first came out, i thought it was just for fiscal matters which made sense at the time as spending is a problem. However as with bandwagons, people start coming out of the woodwork and start temoving credibility from what was a sensible message - cut spending. Now the tea party is all about anti obama stuff and we hear the alex jones grade crap...
  13. He would be the most sensible one for sure. They have to be especially careful as the msm likes to rip apart gop contenders comments to shreds. Mind you trump is a fool.
  14. Lmao!!! No thanks, i have no need to go do your dirty work for you
  15. Lol thats a lefty response. Wants all the results off of someone elses back.
  16. We will have to see when the first charge is laid wont we...
  17. http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/page-299.html#docCont Oh really? Once again, why isnt anyone laying charges and presenting a case to the crown?
  18. Yet mulcair and trudeau arent beating a path to the courthouse to put a stop to this travesty...
  19. Maybe if charges havent been laid then an offense hasnt been committed hmmmm
  20. Your the one wanting charges. Section 504 of the Criminal Code says you can.
  21. You Better mosey on down to the court house and see about laying a charge then...
  22. If u think some people wouldnt make stuff up to get a shot at some possible money that legitimate victims have fought to get, i have a bridge to sell you. There is no way to truly figure out whats legit and whats not, hence the lump sum payout.
  23. Thats essentially the argument. The ag industry contributes tax dollars and will lobby the govt on how ag policy should go. I didnt make the point of subsidizing food production helping out poor people. I said higher fuel prices also hurt poor people. The poor people were essentially dumped with excess food in the mid 90s produced at almost under cost of production, so they have little incentive to produce their own. If the ag industry is going to lobby govt on how tax dollars are spent, its easier to justify spending that money on something that makes their exports more valuable than paying them to over produce. Europe is an example of this and they have paid so much to overproduce that its one of their largest expenditures and has hurt their finances
  24. so does increased fuel prices. It also provides more incentive to put land into ag production, r and d into higher yielding varieties and so on. The world needs all the energy it can get. The way things were done in the 90s with massive subsidies being paid to people to essentially put their grain into a pile were getting nowhere, at least with biofuels, the subsidy at least gets somewhat of a return with higher value exports and more domestic spending. Ag production does not shut down like oil production, bills still have to get paid which is why ag production occurs no matter what price.
  25. It might be mean, but its certainly better than they were before. What would china and mexico be without the factories?
