  1. That of course depends on the job your doing, male and female teachers should be paid equal as should male and female pharmacists, doctors. Not a male and female police officers pay due to the double standard in the physical area. Sorry but a large part of an officers job is physical and if someone can't meet the high standard take a pay cut or don't be one, it's that simple. If there was a single standard then of course they should get equal pay. I'd say grow stronger, I know some farm girls without the luxury of having brothers around and they have to stook, at first it's hard (as it is for everyone else) but then they get stronger and better skilled at it. If I just drove the tractor while others stooked all day you can bet your ass I'd get in supreme shit for loafing. Quite right, that is what we're trying to explain here
  2. CBCThis is hilarious. Canada has one of the largest expanses of pristeen environments in the world and some environmental lobby group rates us last. European tourists come to Canada every year because there is no environment in Europe anymore. And Europeans happily consume our raw materials leaving us with the lousy arbitrary environmental stats that they then deplore. But European hypocrisy is only matched by the hypocrisy of our own politicians. The Liberal Party had 13 years to do something and it did basically nothing - except spend money for advertising, PR and school kits (ie. One Tonne Challenge). Rarely have I seen an issue that attracts so much hand-wringing and moral smugness with so little substance or even basic knowledge. This is an issue where it is so easy to declare innocence and blame someone else. The environment is an issue tailor-made made for the imaginary, Liberal-type fix. People don't really want a solution. They just want to hear that the problem is solved. If the Tories aren't careful, they'll get crucified on this issue. yup just like the europeans saying they want all of this biodiesel to go green, and with canola being the most efficient feedstock, the europeans want to get their mitts on as much biodiesel as possible. Canada is one of the worlds best canola exporters so you would think we would have a market, NOPE, those hypocrits don't want our canola because it's all GMO (which makes it yield high/grow better not poison you), even though it is going to get burned for fuel, they still won't touch it, that's a bunch of liberal bs if you ask me
  3. I come from a family where our profession is either ag or RCMP, I also know smaller guys that are of way smaller than me that went through the same training as a guy the size of a linebacker, surely a woman can go through the same standards as a guy. If I was ever in a situation where I needed an officer to save my life, I would hope that it was a fully qualified officer, that means male physical requirements. The fact where there are two standards in a profession where someones life is on the line is ridiculous. If you can't meet the physical requirements of a male officer, you should not be a police officer. Mind you, if a female police officer meets the same physical requirements as her male counterpart, she gets my respect. I also have a female cousin, she does the exact same work I do out in the field and if she messes up she gets in supreme shit like everyone else who does. If I had a guy like Niles on my crew and he took his job seriously he wouldn't be like Niles in a couple months I can assure you of that, and if he still is, he is a no good lazy loafer and no he would not be worthy of my respect. I was using a gym as an example, wrestling calves is workout enough, if I wanna hit the iron i'll buy a bowflex. You also proved my point, you said it was alright for women to turn away a guy for wanting to hit up a female only workout place, but at the same time you said women will go to a place like Gold's in your example where its mostly guys there, what the hell is this Russia???. If Gold's started turning away women for the same reason you stated why men cant go to women's gyms I can assume you'd be screaming discrimination. I personally wouldn't want some woman watching me workout, I'd feel uncomfortable for the same reasons. This is like arguing with natives over treaty rights...
  4. I can think of one, if a guy had a few drinks but is not intoxicated, he gets pulled over for oh say speeding, officer suspects he's been drinking, the guy knows he can call his lawyer and he can wait for the lawyer to be present for when he blows, that can take a while, enough of a while for the body to process the liquor for when he blows, he won't be legally intoxicated and gets off on a technicality, that's crap and you know it, the cops can say blow right now then call, justice is still served isn't it? the susect still has his rights. I know a few people who got out of a DUI pulling this off. I don't see the problem with an officer collecting evidence, and if a person doesn't want to blow in a breathalyzer, don't drink. It also appears that you think police are all corrupt and they need all sorts of checks and balances, it may also occur to you that Canada has probably the cleanest and most respected police force in the world, the cops have that drilled into their heads to be fair and the such, and if a cop is "bad" they are in major trouble. If anything we should take off some of those checks and balances and let them do their jobs. It's also not the lawyers fault that a guy like this can get off, it's not the cop's fault either, it is the fault of the Canadian justice system.
  5. so for female officers getting a less demanding PARE time in depot and other less demanding physical requirements throughout the RCMP, what are your comments on that? Should she get the same salary as her male counterparts? Now I agree with you on that women deserve what they want, I also say that they should be willing to work as hard for that like their male counterparts, I'm all for true equality. So if a guy wants to go to a female only workout place because it has better equipment and is cleaner, should he be turned away because his neanderthal brain is not able to cope with all those ladies in gym clothes?
  6. I don't know about you but i'm as equally scared of having an extreme socon running things as I am of a person who is an extreme example of the total opposite (don't know what the term is, I'll make one up, umm extreme left wingnut). A socon or a "left wingnut" who is capable of doing a good job and whats best for the country has every right to be in office and one should not pass judgement on these people just because of their ideals, pass judgement on the job they do.
  7. Being an accessory (or accessory after the fact) refers to the situation where you assist someone who has committed a crime in getting away / evading capture. What you are referring to is being party to an offence which is a bit more complicated. In law, you can be a party to an offence by 1) actually committing it, 2) doing or omitting to do anything for the purpose of aiding any person to commit it, 3) abetting any person in committing it. [see Criminal Code s. 21] While creating demand for child porn by accessing it does give a paedophile a possible motive to molest more kids, that won't make you a party under 1) or 2) and would be impossible to prove under 3) unless you are caught communicating with a particular paedophile and encouraging them to make you some new material. It is also noteworthy that merely being present at the scene of a crime and doing nothing to stop it does not make you criminally responsible (morally maybe a different story)...you have to at least be doing something to assist or encourage the actual perpetrator. FTA I see
  8. Yah throw in some Frontline 2-4D and some Roundup to take care of those poppies
  9. I guess I'm a bad bad lefty, then. No. They aren't lesser people. They're just not very bright. My support for equality and human rights and all that happy leftist crap in no way negate smy ability to be elitist and to look down my nose at people. Let me put it this way I disapprove of idiocy, but I will defend to the death anyone's right to be an idiot. thx for clarifying that, that makes more sense
  10. just a question, wouldn't that make the person who has the child porn an accessory to the person who partaken in it and made it? I mean if it weren't for the people that viewed it, there wouldn't be a market for this filth and therefore no porn. I believe the person who enables this to go on is just as guilty and should get the same punishment as the creator of it.
  11. The fact that Don Cherry made the list of "Greatest Canadians" either shows how bereft we are of great Canadians, or that the people who voted for him are pig-ignorant yokels. I thought I made that clear. Just to clairfy, then: yes. hmm. interesting, i thought left wingers were supposed to be tolerant and accepting of ALL people. Those pig-ignorant yokels are every bit as Canadian as you are, their vote counts just as much as yours, their opinion counts just as much as yours, just because they are different doesn't mean that they aren't any less of a person. With that statement I don't understand how you can get mad at people who are anti-muslim and say we should tolerate and accept them (which you are 100% in the right by the way) and at the same time trash your own country men and that they are not your equal, that sounds pretty ignorant to me. That comment reeks of elitism and shows a disrespect of a group of Canadians that are an important part of this country.
  12. Sorry...WHAT? Cherry is an amusement, a sideshow attraction who's scthick has been wearing thin as fast as his knowledge of the game has faded. He's a dinosaur and its a sad testament that he remains popular and that his ignorant, backward views (on hockey and anything else) continue to "inform" Canadians. Well, that is definetely a matter of opinion. There are a lot of Canadians who agree with him, are you saying that people who agree with him and share his views any less of a person than you? Just remember it works both ways, some people might consider your views backward too. That's just like liberal minded people "informing" us on their ways too, some of it I agree with, most of it I think is BS, just like you with Cherry. It just so happens that people with that persona, personality, and outspokenness tend to get sky high approval ratings, it's an attractive quality. just because you don't agree with him, you have to at least respect what he's done which happened to make him one of the greatest Canadians ever.
  13. Emmigration to another french speaking country would be better
  14. Vinnie Lecavalier is one of Cherry's favorite hockey players and he's more french than crepes. Cherry is an outspoken person who speaks his mind which happens to be an admirable quality and also happens to get you on the top ten greatest Canadians of all time. Cherry has a strong bias of a certain hockey player he likes, and it just so happens that a lot of French players don't fit into his view of an ideal hockey player, get over it, Cherry can take a punch why can't those MP's from Quebec. Cherry is probably one of the greatest hockey minds out there and he does know what he's talking about. Cherry wouldn't pull a stunt like that, Gilles Duceppe speaks his mind openly, hell I can remember one coach's corner where Cherry said he liked him. Cherry even goes to say Montreal has the some of the best fans in the league. And french people get mad at Cherry for having a mind of his own, what about the idiots in Quebec City who when I speak english to my buddy decide to stop me on the street and scream at me in French because I was speaking english. It's idiots like that which make Quebec look bad to the rest of Canada, it's idiots like that which make me want to take those MP's to the plains of abraham for a quick history lesson, it's idiots like that which make me think "you guys won a silver medal on the plains of abraham and you think you run the country", it's idiots like that which make me think "this is half of my heritage?" If those clowns hate living in Canda so much, hop on a plane and leave we as a country would be better off.
  15. 1. The right of expropriation is practiced all the time and riverwind explains that to a T. If there is oil found on my farm or the gov't wants to run power lines thru it i'm SOL, no treaty for me, just a cheque. 2. I condemn residential schools, it was horrible and a black mark on Canadian history. But i did not send anyone there, therefore i do not owe anyone compensation. It's a shame that your ancestors were raped and tortured and the like, but have you considered other races in Canada - throughout the course of human history way way long ago, you can bet your ass that EVERY person's set of ancestors has been oppressed raped and tortured. I don't go to the Italian gov't and ask for compensation for what the Roman empire did, nor do i think that jews ask the german gov't for compensation during the holocaust. 3. The gov't runs the show. If the government wants something that they think will better everyone else they will take it, that's the right of expropriation and that's why property rights aren't enshrined in the constitution. There is nothing stopping the gov't from saying "we're not spending another dime on this native kerfuffle, land rights and special priveleges gone." That would save us tax dollars too. if the u.s.a wants our water, there is nothing we can do to stop them, all we can do is hope to work out a deal, and even if we do get one we'd have to really hope and pray that they don't screw us because there is nothing we can do to stop them. Courts applying rulings to government is a joke, the government only follows court rulings out of sheer benevolence. a special interest groups pulling stunts off like this is like a kid on a chess team trying to boss around the linebacker on a football team. 4. If you and others are so passionate about being sovereign, you have no business voting in federal and provincial elections. 5. If taken to the hague, judging by the billions of dollars funnelled through all of this and a lot of it being squandered with other groups in other places in the world in a worse position, i'd say Canada's case looks pretty good. 6. I have been ripped off by the U.S.A. it sucks, but there is not a lot i can do about it except hope for their benevolence.
  16. Not another one... The government has this thing called the right of expropriation, that means when the government feels that it is in the best interest of the country to take some land, it has the right and it exercises that right. You get to enjoy living in the best country in the world because the government in the old days exercised this right. The treaties any government sign are only good for as long as the people who made and signed them are around. Why should something that old apply in today's society? The government of Canada doesn't have to honor the treaties, who is going to stop them? The government could look at all those land claims and say go fly a kite, and quite honestly there isn't anything that can stop them. I don't understand why you are proclaiming that they should be sovereign, yet be protected under OUR charter of rights and freedoms plus vote in Canadian elections that's a double standard. We should get rid of the Department of Indian affairs and the Kelowna accord, that is a burden on our taxpayers for things that happened long ago and it would inject billions into the system. As far as poverty is concerned there is ample employment in Canada to accomodate them which will help boost the economy, heck we can even shut the door to immigrants. I live in a rural area with a high Metis population, they don't get special rights, some live in poverty, and some do quite well for themselves. The same goes for the rest of Canadians. There is also a reserve nearby where I live, it is hard to feel sorry for someone where a pile of tax dollars are flowing into a reserve where instead of doing something constructive with it, it is squandered or seeing a truck with a window sticker saying "whitey's taxes paid for this". Everyone in canada is equal, no one is more equal than anyone else, that is a concept that you appear to have a problem with understanding.
  17. Internment is bad, Canadian citizens should not be interred for anything, look at what happened throughout history, look at residential schools, just leave them alone. If something did happen, I'd say shut the door, no immigrants, no foreigners outside of North America, they should pay not Canadian citizens
  18. All i can say about these income trusts is welcome to hell with the farmers and logging outfits, yes it sucks here but if you can tighten up your purse strings and make wiser investments, you can make the best of it too.
  19. Ok...how much do border guards make a year? 50K? Times that by 400, that's $20 million per year. What about the other $80 million? Maybe a well deserved pay raise to the rest of the 4800 plus equipment infrastructure etc.
  20. You should be angry at the underestimating of costs. Are not a fiscal Conservative? If they can screw the costing of that, they can screw up other things. well i should hope they don't screw up other costings, i'd say its one of the smarter large investments, I don't know how much it would really cost, I'm not in cabinet, maybe it would really cost a billion or only a hundred million. There are some programs that are worth it, some are not worth it. Like I said maybe those guards are getting a well deserved raise.
  21. Typical right wing for underestimating security costs. I guess we'll be justifying $100 hammers soon. I'd rather spend a billion bucks on helping someone do their job, making their job and our country safer, creating jobs than send over 5 billion on the kelowna accord or piles of money to special interest groups. What do you expect the border guard to do with someone who is caught armed trying to run drugs over the border and decides to shoot at them, ask them to politely stop?
  22. Maybe the guards are getting a raise too, i think they deserve it, its a pretty dangerous job, about time they're getting armed. Not arming a border guard makes as much sense as the greeter in a wal-mart store, what the hell are they good for. Also I hope some of that money goes into some sort of screening process, now that they have guns and have the authority to shoot people, I'd think you'd want to have as disciplined and well trained guards at the border, not some trigger happy deputy sherriff from dixie. It's good that they are getting armed, but we should make sure they are properly trained. Typical left wing, against the use of physical force to protect something.
  23. yah, i figure theres a lot of underlying issues in society that are going to come out of this. I'm surprised those boys got caught, if they had that much support in a small town, the RCMP would have a fun time trying to investigate it. If the RCMP knew it was that much of a problem in the community, the house should have been raided by the cops in the first place and this mess might have been averted. This might set a dangerous precedent in small town Canada.
  24. Can a prosecuter apply for dangerous offender status on this sicko?
