Not unless they are under contract.

My predictions are in the Cherry thread, only about the teams I care about though. Does August watch hockey? He'd be a rare breed in Canada especially Quebec if he didn't. All the teams who won game one I figured to win, damn should have placed bets.

Just to clear up some facts, Brett was born in Belleville to an American mother. Thats why he has dual citizenship. Kelly is the heir in training, and he is good. Very good. But Cherry has some exposure already down there and hockey fans especially know all about him, US or Canada. Kelly has big shoes to fill, not the same charisma cherry has. Kelly is too P.C. for my liking though, mind you that's why Danny Williams is my favorite politician. Cherry knows the game very well. I want to watch the NBC just to check out their reaction to him. I don't know if Cherry had THIS much American exposure. Part of being a good host is being an entertainer, cherry does this very well, plus he can back it up. I don't know if Kelly can, he needs an entertainer as a co-host.

It would be smart business sense not to invest in this, did you not read the article? I'm out to make a living, not play gardener. I don't see any hemp processors popping up within trucking distance of my house, whereas two ginormous canola crushers are, biofuel is already taking care of us. If there was better returns, more producers, the bigger ones would grow it.
-
Not one of those good reasons is money. Blueblood is a farmer, and I would suspect that farmers want to make as much money as they can. If hemp did that, blueblood wouldnt say that it is not a money maker. They are ALL money. Link What do I want to know about liscensing, it's a big pain in the ass, and not worth me investing into.

If hemp did that, blueblood wouldnt say that it is not a money maker. I read the article I posted, it looks like a money pit; theres red tape, sky high input costs, use of a lot of fuel, excessive wear on machinery (not being able to use a rotary combine is a huge red flag). To be getting those returns on 10 measly acres is a turn off from growing it. Storage is a huge problem. the economics of this crop is just laughable. 40 bucks an acre for THC testing and sampling???

He shouldn't wait. With the displeasure of Dion now common knowledge why wait? I suppose now might not be perfect , but pretty soon it will be. One way to know.....follow the money. If the LIbs are broke , then it means no one wants to support them. Think about it, End of Afghanistan, the soldiers coming home then a budget right after, the perfect storm. In 09 he won't have to worry about Afghanistan, Dion can keep being a joke, the longer he's around the bigger of a joke he can make out of himself. The Libs will probably be broke for a while.

I don't know if your an NDP supporter or not, but on MDL, Ed Broadbent tore Scott Reid into pieces and scattered them the 4 winds, catch the repeat if you want to (on newsnet). People don't like backdoor shenanigans. Good call on the poll numbers though, way too volatile. Harper will wait until 09 to call an election, there will be more positives for him to call it then instead of now.

ont. gov't judging by these piss poor returns, why would anyone waste their time with this crop. Oh but it's by the gov't of Ontario which according to you is top heavy with Bankers, sorry it's not by some wingnut that was google searched.

I've already debunked hemp in a different thread.

Street racing penalty: $10,000
blueblood replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The only part I like is the ability to impound immediately. As far as the rest of it goes, there are already laws on the books to deal with it. I dont get it. Excessive speeding is dangerous driving, or careless driving. Somebody dies, vehicular manslaughter. Would making racing a Criminal Code also help, I know lots of ex-drunk drivers who regret doing it in part that they can't leave the country. -
I don't see the flames getting out of this round at all, if and when Bertuzzi comes back there comes a whole new dynamic to Detroit's already very capable offense. I'll say Detroit and Calgary split when they go to the Dome. Whoever wins the next game will probably win the series. Calgary's playbook of heavily defensive hockey relying on Kipper to bail them out may have worked in 04, but it is not the way to win hockey games in the new NHL, if Iginla is the main goal scorer and he goes cold there goes Calgary's offense. If the flames lose out in this round, Sutter is going to have to overhaul his team philosophy. For Vancouver, the Sedins need to play much better in regulation, that was a fluke that Vancouver won the game, having your goalie getting peppered like that is no way to do it, besides Naslund and Morrison need to fire it up a little more. There were a few soft goals in that game, the goalies will tighten up accordingly. Ottawa, well that was textbook Senators hockey, keep playing like they did in the first two periods and they'll do well in the playoffs. They should have played tighter D in the last period. Expect next game to be closer. Buffalo is the team that most impresses me (my style of hockey bias showing). 3 solid scoring lines that can fly with any of the top lines in the league, much better D men, and a very good goalie in net. Providing nothing happens to Miller this team I think gets the cup. Listening to this game on the old sat. radio was priceless, Jeanneret was in his prime. "Chris DRUUUUUUUUURRYYYY!!!"

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaha Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha Being as I grow GM canola, I know what the hell I'm talking about. I do not need bees. the amount of bees if i did need them would be mind boggling. I do not need an ivory tower elitist, giving me lessons on how agriculture works. Time to fold up your tent and move on.

and which GM products do you currently purchase regularly? GM canola seed, and margerine and other canola related products.

Have you ever watched soccer on TV? World cup soccer is pretty intense. Go England!!! I think CFL football is more boring than church. Lets put up soccer.

Harper linked to American far Christian right
blueblood replied to hiti's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good points. I still can't see the Conservatives waiting that long. There are far too many things that could go wrong in that period. Word out of the campaign school was that the primary reason for not goiong in the spring would be fatigue on the part of the grassroots. A good summer of meet and greets will re-energize the essential volunteers. That's the biggest reason why I think we go in the fall. How tight does Harper run his ship, there won't be too much that can go wrong. There won't be cataclysmic losses in A-stan, there isn't much else to go wrong, he'll let this whole budget thing blow over. Plus the longer the ADQ is in, the more time it gives Quebecers to warm up to the tories. No, he said 09, he'll go in 09 unless brought down. -

Do they have to wait for the mission to end? What about when they announce that they won't stay past 2009? That would basically take Afghanistan off the table as an issue. That could still fit into the timeline for a fall election. yes they should wait, an announcement is useless, people don't have to believe announcements, but will believe when they see a massive amount of troops coming home in planes to army bases on TV. Harper has it all timed out, he'll go till 09 unless brought down, no need to get antsy. Harper wants power, he won't make them stay past 09, that would be suicide. He'll call an election in the spring of 09, the troops coming home in Feb 09, the budget coming up, probably getting a higher approval rating, it would be the perfect storm. -
Should Canada Get Involved in Darfur
blueblood replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think they did discover some a couple of years ago. Shouldn't we be helping to stop the genocide, or should we just let them all go at it. Of course, the sooner we stop the genocide, the sooner the country stabilizes, the sooner we can invest in the oil in there. Letting them go at it would be the logical thing to do about it, but the left would get their knickers in a knot as we shouldn't let that be happening when we can try and stop it. -

Harper still has another five weeks to call an election. My guess is a spring election is still a possibility. The biggest drawback being continued high levels of casualties in Afghanistan. If they don't go this spring they'll go this fall. He'll wait until the mission is over to call an election. In 09, the troops will be home, no more casualties, A-Stan hopefully made improvements. Also the more time he's in office, the more and more people are starting to like him. He'll keep his A-Stan promise and win a majority because of it. Better to win a solid majority than maybe win a majority. -
Should Canada Get Involved in Darfur
blueblood replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think after A-Stan we should go to Darfur, we have to make those tanks pay now. I wonder what the left would have to say about this now... Isn't there a pile of oil in Darfur??? -
That's a good point, some of those conspiracy threads are a little outlandish and taking potshots at them is funny at first but doesn't make much for high quality debate. I just ignore them. If we all do that then more relevant threads will bump those into history. Like Greg says, don't feed the trolls. Every village has their idiots, if we don't acknowledge them, then they don't exist. Some threads only get 2 or 3 replies then they are history, just don't give them the dignity of a response. I'd say repeat threads are becoming more of a problem, 4 threads on Danny williams, 4 threads now on GM foods, 20+ on Global warming, etc. It's nice to see we have polling and Afghanistan under control in that regard.

This fear mongering of the left towards conservatives is ridiculous. Two can play at that game. How about if Taliban Jack got a majority lets start that one, any right winger here can add on to my fear list -All private business will be expropriated and we'll all be on welfare -Our economy will go in the tank like the USSR -Our armed forces will be reduced to an organization of volunteers when natural disaster strikes but they'll be dressed in green -Our oil industry will be shut down -Christianity will be outlawed -All farm land will be expropriated and given back to the first nations -The police force will have to relinquish their sidearms as they are too violent -Saying anything offensive will be outlawed -affirmative action will be mandatory, who cares about skill -our country will be infiltrated by a massive amount of spies Feel free to add on... -
If you were to grow those same crops 40 years ago, before GM seeds, did you need bees to do the work then? Do some crops need pollination? Some crops do it themselves without any outside intervention? We still have no clue on the long term effects on humans after consumption of the GM products. Hell we thought it was a good freakin idea to pump all our cattle with hormones. Now that is starting to catch up with us. And don't you have to buy your seeds every year? Since the seeds cannot be used to plant another crop, they are designed to die out at the end of the season. The farmer cannot save any seeds for anything. This was not possible 30 years ago. Oh sorry, to be perfectly clear I like the GM crop thing as a product, I am against all the liscencing, copyright and redtape malarkey that has to go with it. They're not designed to die out, which is why a guy got his pants sued off. If they make them die out, then I don't have a leg to stand on as far as GM seed pricing goes, I'll have no choice but to pay the price, they should have engineered that in the first place with the seed, I'd have no problem paying for it then.
-
Is that the only seed that is available for you to buy? Do you not have other choices? Are you contributing to your own problem by continuing to use Monstanos grain if there are other options to look at? If you want to make a difference and send a message, don't buy the product. I don't know much about the grain industry, so can you shed some light on that for me? I now get Liberty Link from a competitor, I'd rather pay more for spray than dumb liscencing fees. But I get nailed with the breeders act anyway by not being able to store the seed. If I want to have clean fields for when I want to put wheat in, I have to go with GM canola no ifs ands or buts. It's an unjustifiable and unnecessary expense and is borderline robbery. If some other company would come along and sell it for cheaper and not enforce the plant breeders act then I'd go with them.

Blueblood, this has nothing to do with Liberals.Naive Albertans - with easy buttons to press - may be sitting on a gold mine but Quebecers have been playing the game for ages. The names of rivers and places in Alberta and Saskatchewan are French. For Quebecers, Canada is their country - not yours. Quebec's buttons are different. So, have no fear in this negotiation. You may be naive but you're dealing with the sentimental. Too many people in Quebec are too attached to Canada. It's their country. That's sounding like colonialism and elitism, just because a person is from Quebec, they're entitled to Western Canadian resources??? That's why the wheat board was created (topic for another thread). It's an attitude like that which spawned the Reform Party and pushes our buttons. Using that logic, I get to say the Brits handed the French a silver medal on the Plains of Abraham and since the French got smoked they should fall in line. For an English Canadian when you lose a war you are under the conditions of the conquerors, not the other way around. An English Canadian would be thinking "Good Grief they were handed a silver medal and they think they run the show" I can guarantee you Canada would be a much different place had the French won that war. Quebec thinking they can dictate Canada's business is like a computer nerd bossing around a linebacker. I think that little rant would push the average Quebecer's buttons.
