  1. I'm sold on that. Works good down south, they have no plan and are ahead of us in reducing air pollution.
  2. They're not jiving with enough Canadians as they are getting smoked in the elections. you want to talk about divisive politics, pr would mean that Canada would turn into the second ontario legislature. Good for Ontario, bad for everyone else. Canada's population is not evenly distributed enough like in Europe for PR to work.
  3. The reform party didn't need PR, neither did the NDP, either your party jives with Canadians or it doesn't. The greens don't. As for PR why not go one step better and have referendums on all the laws passed and the budget? This doesn't make sense and that's why we have elected reps distributed in the most fair way which is with ridings. The only crisis Canada is facing is how fortunate our situation is compared to other countries in the world.
  4. I'm not saying my estimates are by any means accurate, just round numbers.
  5. Hence the word approx.
  6. What would you rather have the hell's angels do the cop thing and not have to pay any money for that. Let's do what the Argentinian's do and legalize the whole works, let's see where that takes us. In the words of MDancer, what would your toaster say about that???
  7. I'd say around 50-70 klicks around the city. The pop of MB is approx one million. I'll guess the wpg area is around 750K (close to a million in my book) Nicely done with the map of MB, lol
  8. I am a manitoba ag producer and the Carbon tax will hurt me more than the average person in Ontario. Manitoba also has oil in the Southwest corner and a decent mining industry. This tax is geared towards urban dwellers. The average person living in the GTA does not emit as much carbon as I do. It seems like a lot of voters in the GTA are about sticking it to big oil and gas, the carbon tax does this, and at the same time sticks it to everybody else. The carbon tax won't effect the average Ontarian as it does myself.
  9. The Winnipeg area, but I round up from 750K, it's easier to say close to a million.
  10. Yes that price is 4 dollars a gallon for gasoline, no tax necessary, ever watch CNN during july???
  11. What's delusional is suggesting that the tories are going to come in with such sweeping legislation that will dramatically change the course of the country and will win the next election down the road. As for the NDP being a "free" party, just ask the pig farmers in Southern Manitoba who aren't allowed to buy pigs.
  12. That would depend on the pesticide being used and application rate. That is a serious problem out there and I don't think they can solve it in Winnipeg without seriously upsetting the public. It would be easy to get rid of the bug problem, just evacuate the city and surrounding area for a couple of days and load up the spray planes with a double rate of Lorsban and go to town. Mosquito problem gone, dead animal carcasses; problem number 2. But try getting close to a million people to evacuate just for spraying. Looks like Winnipegers are going to have to live with the Mosquito problem.
  13. Had it been Cargill that was in that family's shoes, the gov't would have looked like heroes. Picking on the little guy does not look good, even though I agree with the gov't that only Canadians should own Canadian farms. The oil rigs are about 5 acres a piece and only allowed 4 to a quarter, the neighbour would have also got some good land and a yardsite on top of it.
  14. Yes in a recent ruling the guy did get to keep his farm. The sask gov't has allowed a few exceptions, emphasis on few. What's worse is the family from St. Lazare that got the screws put to them by the provincial and municipal gov'ts.
  15. Harper can govern however the hell he wants, he's the one that has to answer to the electorate. If the Canadian public wants conservatism, conservatism they'll get. So yes, in a majority situation Harper will govern to what the electorate will tolerate, he does have elections to win. Saying the tories will turn into some fascist party when they get a majority is ridiculous. That's like saying the Liberals will turn into communists when they get a majority and we all know they didn't, they like staying in power, same goes with the tories.
  16. How do you think Dion will win a minority???
  17. How, the left is always going when Harper gets a majority this that and the other thing will happen. He's bound by the constitution and the fact that he needs to be re-elected to stay PM.
  18. So he can lose the next election?? Wow that was intelligent I don't know if I was elected with a majority gov't with no limit to how long I get to stay in office, I would make damn sure I wouldn't enact anything ridiculous like you suggest Harper would, Harper's no idiot he'd like to be in the PM chair as long as possible. Good grief the loony left is suggesting that a majority gov't is above the constitution. I am now stupider for having listened to that.
  19. Neither did Chretien
  20. Don't worry, one of them fancy pants cluster bombs and 40 T-90's would be junk in one pass.
  21. A true hardcore Evie wouldn't care about that. Harper doesn't run the Christian Heritage party. Harper has taken the wingnut religious aspects of his party and threw them under the bus during his minority gov't stint. If that was his hidden agenda, mission accomplished.
  22. Citation that Harper is an Evangelical Christian. Yes Harper is hard core Evie, that's why he buried the SSM debate and why abortion isn't part of his campaign platform.
  23. This is good for the Liberals, they dump a snake-oil salesman and can get a better candidate in a Liberal riding, c'mon this is B.C. we're talking about here. Next elections the Libs get this riding.
