  1. point taken, but how much more popular was the second world war compared to the first?
  2. I agree, that's why I have/had no problem with alcohol being prohibited.
  3. Oh I don't know, the last gov't in Canada that tried conscription which was in WW1 got smoked in the election and helped put quebec on the path to seperation, if the toaster thinks that's going to happen, may I suggest getting a Kenwood Toaster radio. If Ontario people all thought like this, I wouldn't be investing in Postashcorp, I'd be investing in that Quebec aluminum company...
  4. Forget farming, I should be selling tinfoil and toasters, I'll be rich!!!
  5. Why not? those laws were put in place by a democratically elected gov't. Your free to run for office, your free to vote for the MJ party or NDP, your free to leave. How much freer can you get? Do you want the same percentage of people on cocaine as they are on pot? I sure don't.
  6. Think is an understatement.
  7. The gov't isn't regulating their choice to remain in Canada or vote for a party that will change that law. My argument is the gov't would rather not have escalation in the types of drugs that are the most popular. Would you want this same fight with cocaine and crystal meth in 20 yrs.?
  8. Why, I had way better channels than shittacular star choice. So a person has to wait 10 seconds for the dish to align and acquire a signal, who cares.
  9. And toasters in the other.
  10. Of course Harper travels with a gang of RCMP, he is the Prime Minister after all. Does the President of the US travel without the Secret Service?
  11. I had a bear take a run at me, and a good thing for me was that he was bluffing, i don't know if the old axe would have done much. Needless to say, those things get shot on sight when on my land. We don't have any cougars in the sticks, but there is the odd sighting of some extremely large and mean cats. Still would have to worry about getting eaten alive though...
  12. Guyser, may I suggest you take a trip to small town Canada or the USA, you can walk around town at 3 in the morning and you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than getting mugged or stabbed.
  13. I miss the days of the good old 18 ft. satellite dish... Nothing has even come close to beating that.
  14. that would depend on your position in the draft. If you get first pick, a high output centreman, lets say Crosby would be wise. If you get lucky, I'd go with linemates and potential linemates. Your better off taking the most potential for points when you can get it.
  15. Probly the same reason why pissing on the side of a building is illegal. Lawmakers chose to draw a line, I think they are trying to control escalation of what drugs people will do next. I wouldn't care if the smoking industry was criminalized.
  16. Umm have you checked out how expensive Alberta is to live in? Very few people there make minimum wage. Roll out to rural Manitoba and your dollar goes a lot further because the wages and costs are down. That's another reason why things are so much cheaper in the states. The more money has, the more that person will spend, the more a person spends, the more demand for a product, more demand means prices increase. Then there is the costs to businesses, that could potentially bust some or force others to relocate.
  17. US is the dominant country in North america, so i will say mainly the US. I'm drawing the conclusions to make discussion simpler. I would prefer that trade barriers come down all over the world, remember to trade you have to be able to generate. If another country is impeding our ability to generate and trade, said country should pay the price.
  18. Prohibition isn't harming anyone, those people who choose to break the law are harming themselves. If people are so selfish that they decide to break the law, I could care less. There are some people who buy American Satellite TV, should that be decriminilized as well? Should being drunk in public be decriminalized? Should not paying income tax be decriminalized? Wouldn't the public be safer if we did those things? I fly the prohibition flag when, one of the side effects of pot smoking is laziness which affects my wallet with people having to go on social programs. For example one of my neighbours who high all the time never gets his crop off before it snows, never gets it seeded until the crop insurance deadline and never sprays. He collects crop insurance every year when his crop freezes which affects my premiums. Then there's all the welfare cases in town, all dope smokers. You seem to be one of the people who can handle that side effect well enough, great. I'm a numbers man.
  19. We've been over this time and again. I wouldn't have a problem if alcohol was made illegal. You can't nail me for picking and choosing. What your not willing to see is that there are law abiding citizens who won't engage in mind altering substances due to legalities, those are the people I have interests in, not a bunch of skids. What your also not willing to see based on your law of supply and demand is that there is a huge supply of mind altering substances legal or not. They aren't bloody diamonds. That large supply drops prices. I mean 10 bucks a gram is a cheap way to mess yourself up. Your economic argument holds as much water as a wicker basket. Your NDP style of economic logic is doing wonders again. Last time I checked booze is more expensive than pot. Do I care if the supply is safer, no. Remember I`m a heartless conservative, I could give two shits if law breakers rot in jail. Ditto for the two rival dealers killing each other, one less dealer woohoo!! Like I`ve said time and again, i`d rather the problems you bring up arise with alcohol than cannabis and the next ones up the chain. If a steady job is flipping burgers at McD`s or running a 2 quarter farm that they`re too lazy to work at then I guess your right. If you can`t afford 10 bucks for your fix, I suggest changing your financial priorities because it sounds like your in financial kaka.
  20. it's simple logic, if tax evasion was legal, there would be a large amount of people that would not pay taxes.
  21. What are you talking about? the US is the world's largest economy, not only that they are the most influential. When the US suffers the world suffers, if Europe suffers, the US would get along just fine. North America, mainly the US is not some guy, it is THE guy. When Europe gets its act together or in your terms the hundreds of millions of people there, it will gain more importance, but they decide to throw a wrench in other country's economies. Trade with Europe generally means we are going to be trading what we specialize in, which is natural resources, which the Europeans impose massive tariffs and protectionist policies on. The only way we could compete with that in a trade agreement is to bring in supply management, which you abhorr. Wild Bill is bang on in regard to this. I will bet the farm that more people in the world of 6 billion know who Brad Pitt is than know who I am.
  22. I'd sooner have the drunks dodging the cops like in the 30's than the coke heads we have today, oh well. The law is aimed to keep law abiding citizens off of pot and other drugs, believe it or not, there are some people who won't smoke up because it is illegal. Emphasis on some. If booze were illegal, there would be some people who wouldn't drink due to the fact they don't want to go to jail. The number that would drink would go down slightly. Pot however, as you have correctly pointed out is extremely popular, making it legal would have a small rise in users. And judging by some of my pot head lazy neighbours, that could potentially cause problems.
  23. ctv.ca calls bullshit on your post.
  24. you walked right into his trap...
  25. i think your missing my point. The casino can afford to treat me and the millions of ordinary americans like dirt, us plebs are a dime a dozen, highrollers like a Brad Pitt for example, if they take their business elsewhere hurt the casino far more than if I took my business elsewhere. As far as trade goes, some reps play heavier than others in the world. If Canada is a casino, the US is Brad Pitt and Europe is an ordinary average joe who just recently hit the lottery. That has been established in the trade history of Canada. Europe needs to change in order to join the highroller's table. Their ridiculous ag policy is step one.
