MB Crop Insurance and my hail insurance company as far as I know had to call on Lloyd's once recently, and that was in 07 for the big hailstorm. Needless to say the insurance adjusters were very generous with their adjustments, and everyone was scratching their heads why they were so generous with their adjustments, Lloyd's to the rescue!

MB crop insurance is insured by Lloyd's out of London England, it doesn't dry out. I could sell wood off my land, have more cows, sell gravel; so nope no assistance. I have the option of renting out the land. Other than that I take what I get. The "assistance" that is given by the gov't presently costs taxpayers too much money and doesn't amount to anything. I say scrap it. I'd have no problem with my tax dollars going to pay for taking land out of production but that's for another thread. So not everybody can apply for EI and Welfare. Unless I start paying into EI, which would be ludicrous for me.

My land ownership is all revenue producing parcels. No Welfare for this cowboy.

I was responding to the post, apparently he thinks all Canadians are going to be headed to the welfare line. I implied that as a land owner, that option is impossile for me.

Bob Rae to end bid for Liberal leadership: CTV
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why in the blue hell should I pay for schools that charge tuition and exclude people? That's garbage. If I'm paying high education taxes, I'm not having CBC having your cake and eat it to funding. -
Previous history of unions. The mere threat of them is scary enough now. Look at Wal-mart. How do business's abuse employees, by not paying them CAW wages? Yes lets screw over job creating businesses!
-
Should have given harper the majority so he wouldn't have to spend like that. I'm more scared of paying the higher taxes if the Libs and NDP take their coalition nonsense and drop 30 billion.

they can build whatever schools they want and can take whatever students they want, just not on my dollar. As far as public schools go, if I'm paying for it, which farmers do considerably, then no segragation. My tax dollars have no business funding racism. -
That huge surplus from overtaxation. Good I'm happy it's gone, more money in my pocket. Harper has to spend in order to participate in a minority parliament. He's also trying to convince Canadians he's not Scrooge. If he continues his high spending if he gets his majority, don't worry I'll be quite upset. However since it's a minority I'll let it slide. Don't let logic and the politics game get in the way of your drive by smears.

He can have more than one can't he? I think the PM's salary could cover the cost of a toupee, unless he has a magic ridiculously expensive one.

I wasn't aware Yugoslavia and Israel had oil. I wasn't aware South Korea had oil.

I now have the incentive to start investing in Alcan.
-
What are you talking about, it is impossible for me to get Welfare.

??? i call em as i see em

what if it's a toupee?

which defies logic.

The Quebecers that vote tory, I think are in the "loaded" region of Quebec. I know the Beauce is loaded and that's where Bernier is from. It's not even worth potentially sabotaging the campaign for possibly one seat in Quebec. I don't know if Harper can get more seats as Quebecers from what I've seen aren't into fiscal conservatism and tough justice. Ignatieff will gain some seats. I'll say the Libs and Bloc exchange some seats. August knows more about this than I do. But the logic of crying bloody murder when arts funding is cut due to softening the blow of tough economic times defies logic.

Hence my wording of for all intents and purposes

Why is it on passports, that we receive equal benefits at UK embassies as Canadian ones? We still have the Queen. May as well be subjects, not that that's a bad thing.
-
For all intents and purposes, we sort of still are.

Piss on them, if they want independance and to boot out the elites, why should the elites help them out? If I was in government and booted out of office like in Rhodesia, my ass goes on a plane far far away from there with my bag of money under my seat.
-
I sure as hell didn't.

Unions are useless and completely unnecessary in today's work envirnonment. The threat of a union is good enough. Unions today place unnecessary costs on business and are pure evil.

Ignatieff is the new Liberal party. The Liberals have a fresh image with all the Chretien and Trudeau era image/nonsense for all intents and purposes is gone. Time is the Liberals friend. Time to fundraise, time to sell Ignatieff, time to build credibility, time to sell the new party, time for the recession to worsen, time to distance himself from this parliamentary embarassment for the Liberals. Canadians aren't going to care about his oversees adventures, they are going to see a new leader with new ideas. Ignatieff is a good choice for the Libs, and could possibly win an election further down the road if Harper doesn't get his way in January.

It's safe to say Harper is unelectable to a majority gov't without a crisis. All Harper has to do is keep this crisis going. This crisis is Harper's only way to get a majority, the longer the crisis goes on, the longer Harper makes the opposition look like fools, the better for him. If Ignatieff caves in the budget, it won't look good for the tories at all. Ignatieff will have bought himself time, and will have been responsible for ending the crisis, making him look real good to voters. Harper has to lose confidence. Party Brass wants a majority gov't. The only thing the tories were happy about getting out of the confidence motion was time to formulate a budget and make the opposition look like fools. Harper has to play this game, it's the only way he can prolong his political career. He has 1 election and that's it.
