There are no stars in Hollywood nor Florida

All I have to do is drive out of my yard or cut the power to my yard light. The northern lights are better, then there was that blasted meteor a while back. -
Tory MP Rod Brinooge abortion bill
blueblood replied to DrGreenthumb's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd say punt the fool. There are a lot of people who would love to run for the tory party that wouldn't contribute to this nonsense. And people wonder why Harper muzzles the buffoons... -

More abortion mess . Harper should punt this clod from caucus ASAP. Nobody wants this gongshow to be going on. -
I'm curious how that would do with permafrost, and if it could handle fully loaded cars. If it goes how I want it, my freight costs are drastically reduced. The benefit of Russian fertilizer also helps out as well. I'm surprised they don't snap up a pipeline there. A deep water port so close to natural resources is a good thing.

Canada will slump into deficit next year: Flaherty
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your not going to like this, Harper plans on spending 20-30 billion dollars in stimulus. Youch!! I'm not happy. That's 3 yrs. of debt repayment down the crapper. At least Harper is P.O'd about having to dole out the cash. -
Canada will slump into deficit next year: Flaherty
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tax cuts and larger than normal debt payments, along with increased transfer to provinces. The feds do have an always emergency fund, it's called debt payments. Given that gov'ts cannot die, they can prolong debt payments indefinetely. However paying the debt reduces the taxload on Canadians. The gov't isn't a prudent family as it cannot die and is around in theory forever. -

Do you like paying higher taxes so the Libs can hoard it in a piggy bank? -
Ontario to get 21 more seats in Commons: McGuinty
blueblood replied to Smallc's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I would like to see the math on how a majority gov't would play out with this scenario. This would be really good news for the Libs actually. In 10-20 yrs. the libs will love this if the bloc still exists. -
Freedom, Health Care, Glasnost & Perestroika

I'm also against paying up the ass in taxes going towards tuition freezes to med schools students only for them to go to the states. Only way to have adequate public care comperable to the private sector is a salary cap. Professional sports impose this to have better competition, why not the Health sector? -

Then impose a tax that is equivalent to the tuition paid. No sense in Canadian Universities training people only to have them emmigrate. There are large waiting lists to get into those programs. Why screw somebody out of a spot only to leave, when you could take your med school in the states. Impose salary cap and only adjust for inflation. Problem solved. -

Exactly, that's what I want to know. 32-33 seats is good news for the Tories and Liberals. Quebec will be having a coniption fit. -

Or it could use the same ways small business's start up, bank loans, venture capitalists, and angel loans. No public money needed at all. Sprinkle in a salary cap and voila. -

Canada's population is growing, and adding seats to the HOC is reflecting that growth. Simply redistributing the seats isn't going to keep the seat/constituent ratio in check. -

Net immigration shoots that plan to hell. -

I'd be interested to see where these seats are going to be located in Ontario. Also, how many seats are going to AB and BC, and where are those seats going to be located. This looks like a shot at Quebec, and another play to ensure that at least a federalist party has a better chance at a majority gov't. I don't think we'll see the Liberals complaining too much about this. -

he is right in that regard. his gov't was subsidizing Abitibi Bowater, if they want to shut down the mill, then he can take away their subsidies. The lord giveth, the lord taketh. It's not like the company is losing money with this though. The company did not own, the water, and the trees. That's crown leases, plain and simple. I can't see Williams losing in this case. Abitibi wanted to have their cake and to eat it too. -

refer to my salary cap. Taxes generated from these new businesses can be used to better fund public systems. You have to remember that there are also standards that everyone adheres to. Saying that a two tier system is going to result in an incompetant public system is proposterous because the standards in place won't allow it. Just because the private sector can buy better equipment doesn't mean that the public system will become third world. All must meet health and safety standards. Look at professional sports, baseball is dominated by a relatively few teams and as a result is very uncompetitive which causes some problems, football is different due to the fact they have a salary cap, which results in it being competitive, and solves a lot of problems. -
Too bad 80% of Canadians think the NDP is a garbage political party.

Does a millionaire have the right to go and eat at a soup kitchen thus screwing a poor person out of a meal? That's what leftist zealots are advocating with our healthcare system. Why should I be punished with plugging up the medical system for everybody when I can pay and jump the line and free it up for everybody? Including a private element will not jeopardize the public system as long as a salary cap is put in place, and those doctors training at Canadian Universities only to go to the US should have to pay a tax equivalent to their tuition.
