Tory attackers muzzled in House of Commons
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
What a pointless and irrelevant thread. The only thing hyperpartisan going on is creating this thread. Every party talks trash in the HOC. Next issue. -

Obama Is Destroying The Economy
blueblood replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Union busting, hell that's even better!!! The Soviets sell far more weapons to nut bars, where's your beef with them? I for one enjoy my freedoms under the current system we have here, it's a shame you don't appreciate what western civilization and capitalism have done to benefit people around the world. -

That's all right, regan was one of the people who killed off the USSR and gave us free trade with the US. The world is a much better place with his policies. -
Chrysler threatens to pull out of Canada
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm only saying nationalize because they are after taxpayer money to stay afloat. They apparently will have gotten money and are yet asking for more. If they leave when they have received money, it's only fair that the taxpayers get a return on investment. -
Chrysler threatens to pull out of Canada
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't blame them either, I'm suggesting that Chrysler shouldn't play with fire, if the Canadian gov't decides it's for the "common good" they can expropriate Chrysler's assets. It happened in NFLD when Abitibi Bowater played the same game. However you are correct that it won't happen, although I do love speculating on the possibilities. Chysler it seems is asking for a bank loan and doesn't want to put down any assets for collateral. If Chrysler wants to borrow from taxpayers, then they should put up their factories as collateral. -
Chrysler threatens to pull out of Canada
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I was saying for the Canadian gov't to nationalize Chrysler's Canadians assets if they want to play games. If Chrysler wants taxpayer help, they can get it by us showing them the door. Also since the import brands are not subject to union nonsense, they can cut back on production much more easily. With oil prices inevitably going to rise, I would think the imports would welcome factories being liquidated by the Canadian gov't. The imports market share will rise even though production won't quite be 16 million units. Your going to have to define a long time... -
Chrysler threatens to pull out of Canada

If they want to play games like that, I'd say nationalize and sell to Toyota/honda/nissan/subaru etc. for a nice discount. When things sort themselves out, the dynamic of the auto industry will have shifted. The demand for cars will always be there, the difference is the players meeting that demand. By the looks of things the demand for Japanese/Euro companies is higher than domestics. -
But it is our people first, food is still in abundant supply and cheap. If people want free food, then I want a nice fat subsidy on par with Europeans and Americans. Since that isn't going to happen, time to cut back on the supply, create jobs, reduce GHG's, improve share values, and start up a new industry. It's not human food, it's grain, and I can sell it to whoever I want to. I hope your a vegetarian, because the amount of grain that goes into meat production makes biofuels look like a drop in the bucket.

What, no opinion?

Harper and Tory Brass mis timed their coalition strategy. All of their eggs are in the economy basket. If the economy recovers before an election, that would be in the tories favor. I don't think calling an election now would be a good idea, unless Harper thinks the economy will tank for years.

I do what most people do with money they earn, it either goes into the bank or gets spent. When I spend money, it helps out other store owners and the like. This is how a backbone of an economy works. Same goes for oil, forestry products, and other things we export.

in other words, we're still in the holding pattern...

Nuts to that, my grain and oilseeds go to the highest bidder. I have no obligation to give my grain away to trash from half way around the world, when big business will give me a good price.

If You Have Ever Voted Liberal, NOW Is The Time
blueblood replied to KingIggy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ever read the parable about the master giving his servants various bags of gold? Then there is the "give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for life" I don't think he'd vote period. Earthly governments were a non issue for him -
MacKay to NATO: consider all candidates
blueblood replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If your theory is true, there is one variable, and that is how long McKay wants to make a go at a political career in the long run. If he's in it for the long haul, I'd say take this job because it's going to be chaos in Canadian politics throughout the year and if another minority gov't gets elected. -
Obama Is Destroying The Economy
blueblood replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I'm curious to see what your thoughts are on the Elliot Wave phenomenon/theory. In my area, they suggested that they take the December lows and write them off as it wasn't the bottom (I've linked this article), and sure enough nowadays, things went down again. What I'm wondering is that, is this theory going to kick in again, or are rallies going to start happening again in the next few months. Ag economists seem divided on where they stand on this. -
It's funny that church has converted more people than the church of socialism. Hell people are fleeing the church of socialism in rubber dinghys! As Aug1991 puts it, the NYSE has endured crashes and has been around much longer than any socialist experiment, and has outlasted the biggest socialist experiment of them all!

Are you high right now, or is this batch of tinfoil not picking up beams from the mothership? Take my stapler test and tell me how it works out for you.

As guyser said, had Li been more of a threat, there is a chance lethal force would have been authorized. Li was "contained and seperated" by him being alone on the bus. However he was seperated from them and everyone else and was only armed with a knife. Had he made a move with said knife, he would have been shot or tazed. I don't support the death penalty as it doesn't allow for appeals, and the whole slippery slope issue as to who gets it and who doesn't. That's a can of worms that should stay shut. However, Paul Bernardo has the deal called dangerous offender legislation. Chances are this guy gets sent to the nuthouse indefinetely. Karla Homolka got released based on plea bargaining and cooperation after 10 years, which in this case could also happen to Li. However, when someone commits 1st degree murder, I think pleading insanity should be tossed out the window. Only a certified nut would commit murder 1 anyway. As far as I'm concerned all murder 1 convicts are insane.

Harper would be mad to go into an election now. 1. Ignatieff has not made any major gaffes 2. I think the time line of the economy getting back on track doesn't benefit the tories if they call an election. My guess is very late 09, sometime in 10. Everything bottoms out in late spring. Visit My Website That's a link to my post in another thread mentioning in a link that things are approaching the bottom and the economist in the blog has been fairly accurate. Calling an election when the economy is at its lowest, especially with so many elections could backfire in Harper's face. Giving the Liberals a potential minority gov't with the economy on a potential upswing by that time could potentially result in a Liberal majority in the election down the road (With Dobbin doing his version of the 649 happy dance) Harper had his chance to go to an election or let the Liberals wear this bad economy, that didn't pan out. 3. Backlash with Canadians of playing politics during an economic crisis are not good. 4. going into an election over 3 billion dollars that is unchecked just doesn't look good. Harper's best interest is to hold on until the economy gets back on track. Harper should keep track of how the economy is doing and take credit when the economy fixes itself.

Tazering and Garroting - inept law enforcement
blueblood replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Any rational person knows that RCMP members are not inept buffoons. For somebody in your position who is leaching off of society, and doesn't have the mental ability and dignity to go find a job to go and trash the RCMP's standards by saying any idiot can get in, that gets you a response you might not like. If you think you can do better than they can, put your money where your mouth is. What do I owe you for? Anyone who takes money from my pocket to laze it up all day is fair game. I'm looking around, and I am happy that I unloaded all of my grain in the summer time, and am happier that half of it is going to be used for fuel. Being called a deadbeat from someone who raids taxpayers to laze it up, and who's obviously a few lights shy of a christmas tree, honestly brightens my day. -
I would say it's a sin because its the Americans way of bending them over and them getting screwed double. One, there is less need of Saudi oil, and two it is more expensive for them to eat.

Tazering and Garroting - inept law enforcement
blueblood replied to Oleg Bach's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Being the dead beat that you are, why don't you apply to the RCMP and see if you get hired. They have 2000 job openings according to the radio. It's certainly a step up from welfare. -
