  1. We sure do it's called the Mods, their taser is the ban function.
  2. That should have been their plan from the start, one stop shopping for TV, phones, etc. I see Roger's stores, MTS stores, and SaskTel stores. Rogers is going to take a licking when this happens.
  3. That attitude is what has caused severe problems in the vietnam war, there are gattling guns on those planes for a reason. Even the F22 gets one!
  4. Did you not hear of the F22, that plane is a specialized dog fighter of the highest order. What is it 12 on one it can handle? The next step up from that is drones.
  5. Nope CRA = Bad No regulations regarding results of CRA = Bad
  6. I have a question, does your tinfoil hat pick up XM or Sirius?
  7. Do you have rocks in your head? Day can believe whatever the hell he wants. If he doesn't buy the dinosaur thing, that's his problem, and he can be wrong if he wants to. Calling yourself Progressive and running someone down for what they believe in shows you are a hypocrite.
  8. Ag economists were anticipating another drop in commodity prices in February for some reason Visit My Website I would have just posted the link, but there is far too much blog to sift through. Lets hope this similar situation happens to oil. I posted this because I have noticed similarities between this and what is going on in the stock market. There was a crash, a brief rally, then stocks fell again. If this economist is right, (so far his prediction has panned out) then hopefully we have found the bottom or are very close to it, which is a good thing in the grand scheme of things.
  9. Now your reduced to farmer bashing, hell Ignatieff knows that gets him nowhere. Other farmers around the world are very heavily supported, hell our sector has paid for our ethanol subsidy. Or is it the Liberal hidden agenda to deep six the agriculture industry. The Alberta gov't supports it's money making industry, and that's why it leads the country. Smart investments in profitable industries. Ontario should be taking notes. Maybe the broke farmers want firehose spending, you and I both know that doesn't work. Why do we want to continue a fool's errand on the auto sector. Cripes, they threw a couple billion to deal with BSE and didn't euthanize the over 30 mo. animals. That is completely nuts and frustrating. However investing in value added industries and research no matter what the industry is a wise investment. We have seen it in the ag sector and the oil industry and will see it with the new stem cell break through. Do you think this recession will last forever? Their fundamentals are a lot sounder than GM's, however money going to them should have strings. Did you not see the numbers from the receipts from the ag industry from that investment? What did the 2 billion dollar investment result in; an increase of farm receipts by 4 billion dollars, and the shares of the ag biz companies rising dramatically, more potash mines being explored and opened up. This is how the Alberta government runs things. Needless to say this is one of the reasons why they are the best province in Canada. Investing in things that don't make generate wealth is just not smart. Here we have a chance with the gov't letting loose on the spigots, and we want to throw all of that into the GM dead horse instead of expanding our energy sector, it's madness.
  10. yet there was enough to cause problems in the financial sector True, however this was a problem 30 years in the making and it had to start somewhere. WaMu is competing against CRA banks, they're going to be pulling out all the stops, it just happeed to blow up in their face. Competition to get undesirables didn't work out how the banks wanted to. Oh well back to the drawing board. One thing for sure, trash will have a harder time getting bank loans.
  11. So? Are you allergic to a good economy? I don't like the firehose spending. I do not like the old school dropping a couple of billion to split up between the ag sector. It does nothing to create value and ends up harming tax payers. That money would be far better suited to research/funding of value adding industries. This cash injection to the auto sector looks like firehose spending, and I know from experience that it is a fools errand. That's all right, Toyota is hiring, then there is the eventual rise of our energy sector. There was that same problem 50 years ago with farm employees being replaced by machinery. We found away. Is there an echo? And the way they do business, they should continue to get nothing
  12. This research is a good thing, it could be the start of a new industry that could do very well for our economy. Anyone against this needs to get with the times.
  13. The Alberta oil industry for a time needed propping up, there was a time when it wasn't profitable. The oil sands are expensive as well, yet with the appropriate investment they create a lot of wealth for this country, same with ethanol. Not to mention that it takes time to pay for the facilities. Generally industries aren't profitable in the short term as they have to pay for the fixed costs, long term however is another story. Yet it is still profitable enough for large companies to invest millions of dollars into these projects. I'd say the outlook looks pretty good. The improvement of the Canadian ag industry shows that it is a wise investment. Start buying Postashcorp shares, I know I am. Then the industry should downsize accordingly, however not so much people want them, since Toyota is outperforming GM. I would love to see how many billions of dollars of arts we export. Oil and gas got money too.
  14. So they're not allowed to take the precautions they are allowed to in order to make their job safer? So your saying because they get paid well, they deserve to get hurt and smacked around whenever a dangerous situation presents itself. Why should they get hurt when they have the means at their disposal not to? They don't know what the perp is capable of, ask any member how it's like dealing with somebody who has snapped. If you don't think they get injured on the job, your mistaken. It's not the numbers that matter, it's the fact that one of them could have gotten injured when they had the means to prevent that.
  15. I'm not a fan of people who think they're something they're not. It causes problems for everyone. I would like to drive a Ferrari as much as the next person, but I can't afford it. I'd like to live in an extremely large house, but I can't afford it. If you are going to lend to poor people, there best be some regulations. That is what we have in Canada. Before CRA, the regulations were "if your a deadbeat, get out of my bank" MSJ, you are skirting around the root of the problem. It says it right off the bat in black and white, that deposit taking banks are required to offer equal access to lending investment and services. When that happens without regulation, we get ourselves into trouble.I take that as a green light to being forced to lend to everyone when the bank should be discriminating based on the ability to pay. As was the case before.
  16. Shhh adults are talking
  17. Visit My Website It requires banks to lend to trash. The unsound banking practices stems from what I think is competition to get the most customers, which I'm not a fan of. If you have to lend to everyone, the more people you can get the better. Punked: You keep stating the consequences of what happens when banks have to lend to poor people without regulations of any kind, it turns into unscrupulous cutthroat competition where in the end everyone loses. Citibank was one of the largest banks in the world, the Europeans had to compete. If it was appearing to work for the Americans, why not in Europe. However in Canada, that wasn't the case. Canada is smart enough to put regulations on loaning to trash. Try expanding your mind sometimes. Go to CBC.ca and watch Dragon's den clips, it will show you how loans are dished out properly. Have you ever taken a large substansial loan out of the bank before?
  18. I can't say I believe I'd see the day your reduced to making personal attacks and your slipping on reading comprehension. I clearly said that industries that are profitable and aren't drains (exporters) should be getting the assistance they deserve. That would be Oil, Gas, Hydro, Agriculture, Mining, Forestry, Aquaculture, Manufacturing companies that know how to manage. Another baseless personal attack, read my previous post and the bit above, I've been more than clear who should get help, that would be those that are efficient. And the foreign share in the North American market was much smaller than it is now. I should hope they paid it back with such a large share of the North American market. People still wanted NA cars back then, not now. With the CRTC dropping the boom anything is possible. Did you not see my stats canada link, compare that to General Motors financial report over the same time period, one is steadily growing, and one is steadily shrinking.
  19. What your refering to is the latter part of the problem. The gov't was forced to lend to skid rows, and over time the regulations were made more and more lax. It adds up in the fact of "well if we're forced to lend to these people, lets make the best out of it". With such a ridiculous socialist policy put in place, there should most definetely have been regulations. It ended up cascading and was a disaster. If anyone can get a loan, it would make sense to get as much people to loan to as possible. Had their been regulations, regarding lending to trash, this wouldn't have happened. While being forced to lend to them, I would think the banks initially wouldn't have been so eager to seek it out. However over time, it didn't appear to be such a risk, and with such lax regulations the banks being as competitive with each other as they are, were trying to outdo each other, but finally it blew up in all of their faces. I'll pose you this question, why is it so hard in Canada to get a loan if you are trash? The Canadian gov't knows not to let banks lend to trash and has regulations and safeguards to help deal with that. Blame both sides of the spectrum of the US gov't, not the banks.
  20. The huge returns on the increase of farm receipts over the years are more than footing the bill. Canadians are benefitting from higher grain prices through stocks and more money in the tax system. That 2 billion dollars in taxes has contributed to 4 billion more in the economy and scores more through shares in more profitable ag biz and input companies. Tell that to the laid off farm employees replaced by machines, however they got jobs elsewhere. So will the manufacturing people. Heck, newfies ditched their trawlers and drilled for oil. I have problems propping up GM and Chrysler who do a piss poor job of running a company and are taking massive losses. Consumers don't want their cars anymore. If that money was going to help out Toyota or Honda pop up plants in Ontario, then I'll agree with you on that part, good companies should be helped out, not those dinosaurs called GM and Chrysler, hell lets help Toyota buy out some of the GM factories while we're at it. The arts do not contribute to the economy as much as ag, energy, and manufacturing (the good companies a la Toyota/Honda etc.) Only people that won't burn through money should be helped out, that would be the energy industry, ag, eventually forestry, and the efficient manufacturers (Toyota, Honda etc.)
  21. I call it like I see it. Banks were legislated to loan to poor people. In spite of this legislation, there were no regulations whatsoever. That constitutes to me a disaster in the making. I'm not saying your wrong. If your going to lend to high riskies, regulations should be in place.
  22. I am attributing ethanol money on the basis that it coincides with the increased grain prices. This created extra demand, and Canada is far richer because of it. The ag industry went through a massive downsizing in the middle part of the twentieth century, and I mean massive. Those displaced workers managed to find jobs and the wealth generation of canada shifted. Now, I believe it is shifting again, and if I was a betting man, the smart bet would be for massive job creation in the energy sector. We will probably manufacture energy instead of cars, which is a good thing. The ethanol, just like the western oil industry has taken the gov't "subsidies" and has paid them back through taxes and increased wealth. Potash Corp did very well and will do well when the crisis is over. Why are you so against investing in the ag sector which gives proven returns, when at the same time you are all for throwing money at the manufacturing sector which is burning through cash? I'm all about smart funding, not just throwing ad hoc firehose spending. That money the manufacturers want would be far better off spent in new fertilizer production.
  23. The stock market has crashed before and will crash again. It is by far the best and most fair system out there. This mess was caused by government, the gov't stepped in when it shouldn't have and didn't step in when it should have. Had the banks not been forced to lend to skid rows in the first place, the world would be much better off. However the gov't forced banks to lend to skids, and had the utter stupidity not to put in regulations when dealing with very risky loans/mortgages. Blame gov't, not capitalism.
  24. I didn't know the law covered the handing out the free tickets as prizes. I thought that was a loophole. I was thinking the limit to two per customer would put a large dent in the operation as most people would just line up at the office. That buying on line and over the phone is a crapshoot. They probably could do more, I'm not sure how. That's true it doesn't work out for some events. Sometimes you have to miss part of it to get the deal. The scalpers need to sell their excess in order to hedge their losses. I was surprised it worked at grey cup, that is a popular event. I don't know what it wouldn't work at, I can see it not working for concerts however as the demand is ridiculous.
  25. They don't know that however. It's just like a pre emptive strike that Israel likes to do. They say that during a domestic dispute, one little guy can be quite a handful when he's jacked up on adrenaline and enraged. Hence why domestics are so dangerous. My odds say the perp would land a couple blows. So would I if I felt cornered, enraged, and gone bonkers. You'd be surprised how tough someone could be when the fight part kicks in on the fight/flight.
