  1. Renegade Sorry, I did not reply earlier - I wasn't paying attention and did not see the reply I question what population size would be good enough for Canada 10 million, and then even a futher reduction to 4 million. I imagine for now that the urgency is how we respond to identifiable and distinguishable changes we can see right before the eyes. Then, does Canada intend to be competitive in the marketplace, and would like to revel in some political world powers, and sustain their good social well being. But then perhaps Canadians would like to see themselves belonging to a pride of impecunious countries in gloomy dire straits. Next, my question is: Would you like to shape the future now, or deal with the consequences now? Firstly, we are going to have 20% of the population who ages to 65 by 2030 and out of this 68% of them are women. This is an elderly population, old people if it makes it graphic. Old people come with additional health care cost and a cost to the economy - find women especially - they make a special visit to the doctor for "him" to assure them all is well. Note also these folks will not contribute to production any longer, so who will?. Look, the production argument is real, say rich older workers have skipped out to invest and purchase new machinery but average output per hour increased a total of just 0.1 percent in 2003 and 2004, essentially zero productivity growth. That argument is about cost and money. Secondly, more money. We have some threats rising as in economic super powers rising in China, India and Brazil. There is a demographics of economic powers shifting from countries and also people. In China, a fast developing middleclass set of people are rising armed also with political sensibilities. I need not tell you the correlation between economic power and political influential power. Look at these statistics of 2004 as a measure by purchasing power parity. USA, 5% of world population with 20% of global economy China, India 40% of world population with 20% of global economy My argument continues that if Canada aims to become smaller in population, we would liken to the USA as usual to carry the burden of Canada in order to remain competitive no? Be assured you definitely won't need people for an army. I would more like to see USA, Canada, Mexico and the South American countries form a bloc trading group for sheer size to compete with Europe and Asia. From the standpoint of global economic and political power the question remains as to how you respond? I would reckon some added population beyond the natural rate. So, now in order to motivate women to have children there must be incentives and rewards besides having a husband who agrees it is time to have the first child. I feel government intervention is necessary to plan population growth - they spend money bringing in immigrants to teach them English and spend our tax dollars to retrain folks who have never contributed to the economy, they try their best to spend money on foreigners to become comfortable and settle them in developed world - and the result - rates of unemployment remains staggering over 20% for groups of immigrants. What is so wrong with giving benefits to Canadian women to entice them to have children that will be successful in Canada. The current birth rate is low even for a natural rate. Well, Canada the call is for investment in baby making programs, plus investment in educating the workforce to compete globally as a SMART-COUNTRY.
  2. August1991 Posted Today, 11:08 PM Nicely put August1991. It is a good forum, look, they even allow me to write with flare about my women's issues.
  3. oh my gosh, I am thinking my little one is correct in her prediction.
  4. Well, the orgasms were an expression of some cultural expectations and arrangements the genders have. I can see that Lorena refused to be a victim and she lashed out. Also, she played a victim’s role in that she solicited a deserving behavior from her mate. The Bobbit chap is seen as attacking, being violent and an oppressor of women. More to the point, I see that men who do not engage in this disposition of onslaught still benefit from it and seen as normal behavior. I don’t believe in violence, or arm violence for that matter. All it does is shift blame from men to women and vice versa while it put both men and women as armed and violent and tend to normalize male violence. What I meant is that a man being aggressive with woman is A OK because women can also to be violent towards men. In a way, normalizing male aggressiveness deflects attention away from other insidious issues as it relates to women. Whatever happened in the Bobbit experience is not a desirable one. And as far as I can see here, we are mostly inclined to address and remember the retaliated violence rather than the source of that violence.
  5. "They all panicked," said police An attempt to escape parental wrath over an unauthorized visit led to a 15-storey fall from an apartment building, killing a 16-year-old boy on Saturday night. Are parents so strict that they have put such dangerous fears into these kids - looking down from 15 stories, you can tell that you won't make it
  6. Then I guess I better start right away. So......what do you do for a living???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I’m a female impersonator
  7. Didn't Lorena Bobbitt say something like that??? Now there was a marriage that was a cut above all the rest. Oh well, she certainly got her pound of flesh, or at least a couple ounces. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is a story that men resonate well with and I might add in a very personal way. Poor chap of course. We live and have a viewpoint from the patriarchy. Women esp. Latin women are noted for their submissiveness to men. For this reason, they help maintain and perpetuate patriarchy which allows for abuse, violence, rape This story made the headlines because, here is a meek person demanding her orgasms, and also taking took stabs at what is symbolic of power. Women relate to Lorena and her experiences of sufferance, and of her sexual hate. Men are incapable of hating sex. I have not seen written materials where men make such announcement. Lorena was found also not liable for her actions.
  8. That's it I'm not getting married. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's like giving up. You started this discussion with an opening "I will never get married without a pre-nup". Men are the reason women exist plus they are our ticket predisposed to happiness. I can never let my actions be influence by my fears. For this reason, I can certainly take lots stabs of marriage until I get it right.
  9. Nah. My dream is to have a VERY RICH wife who goes out to work, so that I can stay at home But I'd be willing to settle for moderately wealthy, or even just kind of well-off. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Finding a well-off woman will prove to be a daunting task I assure you. The link provided tells you that women only make 56% of what men earn. STATUS OF WOMEN IN CANADA Even if you expand your search with mail order, even worst to find a rich bride. According to the United Nations Human Development Report 2004: Section 28, Gender, Work Burden, and Time Allocation. Women own only 1 percent of the world's wealth, and earn 10 percent of the world's income, despite making up 49.5 percent of the population. But, if all men were indeed looking for rich and wealthy female partners it will give women a thing or two to consider. They will definitely have to make major adjustments.
  10. Sorry, RB, I have to disagree with you on this. I loved being a stay at home mom, and would happily go back to it (but I don't think the French Maid's outfit still fits). I'm lucky enough to have a job that gives me summers off, so I get to go back to it for part of the year, anyway. I didn't really have a problem getting a job when I decided to go back to work, either, although I'll qualify that by saying I had worked many contracts around my children's schedules while I was at home. I also know many women who say they would love to stay at home, but can't afford it. For many women, working part time would be the ideal. BTW, the term is "Domestic Engineer", not housewife! <Edited to add> Women who are educated can still choose to stay at home, and have this be an intelligent choice. I think the most important word there is "choose". If women want to fight the real fight of feminism, we should be working to erase the artificial standards of the "good mother stays home", the "working mother doesn't really love her children", the "stay at home mom watches Oprah and eats bon bons all day", the "housewife is a second class partner in her marriage". Each of these stereotypes are barriers that women face when trying to make the choice that is best for themselves and their families. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is a huge disconnect with women staying at home, the divorce, or later becoming single after marriage. They are simply are not cut out to be successful immediately. They lack confidence, up to date skills, education and cannot compete effectively in the marketplace. I operated within the sector of labor and there is a consistent pattern of hopeless women that do not have much to offer after a divorce. They can only take low wages to survive and manage with the number of kids. Short of saying the women are also looking for an easy life for men to look after them. However, as they now aged, they face reality of how much they have lost. First, it shows and then they don't have much to show for it. They were blinded for the mere fact they were a dependant. By the way, I stayed at home with my kid for the first 3 years until she entered into kindergarden and she is going to enter into university at age 16 - and I am glad I did not have to depend on anyone. It just forces you to look at new survival tools to do well in life and to think as an individual rather than to be persuaded and swayed to live someone's else dream. I mean having a wife at home is a man's dream.
  11. Apologies in order. Since you live in Ontario. There are special rights to homes. No matter who owns the home, the home may not be sold or mortgaged without both spouses' consent; neither spouse can be excluded from the home, until a separation agreement or court order grants one spouse exclusive possession. On death of a spouse, there is a right to occupy a matrimonial home i.e. This is the right of the surviving, non-owner spouse, and it continues for six months following the death of the owner spouse. Automatic entitlement to share in the deceased's estate i.e. where the deceased has no will.
  12. You can always make a will to assign your assets if you didn't want to get marry. If you did decide to marry, the will is invalidated. But, however you are signing these prenuptials and safeguards, your spouse is living with you "she" is bound to take wealth regardless. Poor chaps. I have decided that if I have accumulated enough wealth that I am never going to marry. In this instance, my man won't have to worry about his wealth and I won't worry either.
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans who write on this board and all Canadians who have any American roots. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you - that feels special
  14. I was speaking to a new Canadian today who was once a doctor in the Dubai. The family are in Canada for 16 months now and the fellow is on his way to becoming a doctor in Canada. He has 6-10 more months to finish a final exam, and must pass, otherwise wait to redo, then months thereafter to find someone to give him a break. Anyway, I question him as to how the family survive with no jobs. Are they using their savings? No shocker, they are on the welfare system. They feel lots cheated with this immigration point system, and the sell of Canada. They paid 3,000 a head per family member to arrive in Canada. He says someone has to pay for the disappointment and it sure ain't them. Both himself and his wife were doctors, they won't be the doctors they were here. He aims to get the citizenship card and move on. I am checking these numbers, we are so greedy for $3,000 but happy to make a payout $50,000 to support families for 3 years and I didn't even incorporated the health system
  15. "BUY A BRIDE" - someone's experience So you've tried meeting and dating American women. You've used some of the sites that charge you by the month to send letters off to women who are listed on the site. Or you've placed your own personal ad and sat there and waited for replies. Now, you think, it's time to try and meet foreign women. The watchwords here are "look out"! You are entering a minefield. If you aren't careful, you will hear the giant sucking sound of your wallet being emptied in your search for your perfect foreign woman. DISASTERS VS HAPPY ENDINGS As a younger bloke I went looking for a bride in the Philippines. I'm upfront enough to say that I was driven by insecurities more than I was driven by wanting the particular attributes that asians bring e.g. closeness of family, & I was unprepared for the baggage that growing up in poor country (relative to a developed country) causes. Time & tide work their way and I'm divorced and wiser for the experience. I was looking at the entertainment Revenues 1996 US Entertainment Industry Revenues New books 26.10 billion Magazine publishing 11.18 billion Sex industry 9.00 billion Strip clubs 2 billion Recorded music 8.15 billion Film industry 5.90 billion Theatre, ballet, opera 1.69 billion Computer gaming 1.10 billion It is obvious folks are very interested sex. These are the countries most desirable for mail order brides, countries of the former Soviet Union, Latin America (Columbia, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama), India (North and South India), the Philippines
  16. who is it that admires the "housewife" - delusional men that want to participate in the fairytale? I agree that learning can take place independent of schools. But I don't think that is the point I wanted to make. Women need to strive for higher ideals and be other kinds of hero. They need to be true to themselves. Being a housewife does not capitalize on all their talents. The recently divorced women whom we counsel are totally dependent on their spouse. So now, if I can remind you that a housewife performs relatively simple chores and task unaware that a life exists beyond routine. I mean how complex is their lives if they live in isolation only having to move from one room to another room. Those housewives you are talking about are the ones who are propelled by men and their trickery and can never see anything lacking in their roles. Women are not allowed to think for themselves if they are the traditional housewife. In “Playing God on No Sleep,” the Pulitzer–prize-winning Anna Quindlen contends that every mother secretly identified with killing her own children. Andrea Yates did just that, the Texas mother drowned her five young children.
  17. my 2 cents worth since I have to reluctantly listen to this music even though 50 Cents is a pitiful icon for the youngsters - he cannot be blamed for Toronto's shooting and gang problem I understand at his last performance there was a shooting
  18. Men returning to work after staying at home with children have a better chance of landing work than women who were out of the workforce looking after children. Women who say they wish to simply be wives and housewives do not have aims in life and have been seduced to believe in fairy tales. Aims are intellectual motives that every person...women should strive to enhance - the more educated you are they better the choices in life you make. No intelligent female would say she wishes to stay at home, wash dishes, make babies, sweep, and cook while they wait impatiently for their mates at the door in their French maid outfits.
  19. My beater is over 14 years with over 500,000 clicks and gives no sign of quiting - the secret is that I have been talking to the machine even since I brought her home. I have not done any major repairs on this baby but if I have to pay this much with drive clean I sure have to find some alternatives - carpool
  20. I believe that colored women have prioritized race as a starting point of their self-identification oppose to gender as a "black woman". My opinion is based on the reasoning that "whites" and "white racism" define and treats all color folks as "black". An example in history is that, while a white woman and her white man goes out of the house to work, the black woman stayed behind and looked after their homes and children. I question how did feminism got to be an all white experience when we reflect on women's experiences. Anyway, black women were made invisible and their experiences have disappeared. So in defining the color woman, she has no identity and also she is being exploited. The other reasoning as to why "Whiteman" has no encounters with black females is the very reason that black women has always worked. What I mean is there is no separation from public and private spheres for black woman. But, we must also face that white woman are desirable mothers and sexual partners to both blacks and whites. Black middle class male can form alliances with white females to preserve economic privilege and are able to bond easily hence the increasing number of inter-racial marriages. A color woman relates to white men via rejection, degradation and undesirability. Furthermore, a white woman can freely attack a white man or a black man because of these special benefits for white women only. It is called white woman privilege. Women of color have to confront this. In the end, women of color have been unable to forge alliances with Whiteman and do not participate in the seduction dynamics.
  21. there is a good reason for hiring minorities demographics need to be represented in the workforce - there are smart minorities to choose from, but they are simply not given a chance
  22. Good - Shariah out the window
  23. The Canadian dollar has risen 30% against the US dollar in the last 4 years yet unemployment is at a record low. Productivity must be going up somewhere to cause that effect. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> inflation rates have gone up because of the gas prices - that explains the fall in unemployment rates
  24. There is a problem with population decline. The idea of government intervention is that of linking economic benefits to child planning which is needed step transition for every country - otherwise there will be gaps and unstable economy. Good family planning involves strong government support. Those affluential women are the ones that need to be encouraged to see families as part of construct in family live. Least they have some income than be blinded by those with maternal instinct with stuggles, and nothing much to support life. It is careers and economic factors that play a great part in women attitudes towards family. But also women feel that they are not getting enough support needed to fill their reproductive intentions. I am a woman so please don't try to tell me differently. The reasons why women are opting to be careful about having kids is that the woman carries the blunt of social and financial cost burden. Men only pay a price for those kids. If a government enable women to achieve a level of empowerment and maybe much more they will have the freedom to lead the lives they value and see a reason to value it. I'll let you know also why women are afraid to be saddle with children: - women are always having to look for productive alternatives because this society reward guess who - how many men do you know will enter into business or economic partnership with women. In my mind, I feel that in a social setting as in (relationships) there is an obstruction that simply closes off possibilities of such partnerships and make women second think their choices Anyway, my believe is that if government do not intervene, women desire to have children fails, because the responsibilities becomes daunting by themselves, challenges remain too much and the burden is far too heavy. Governments can create conditions necessary to stimulate population growth or foster a baby culture by ways of their policies for e.g. gender sensitive budgets, quality of care for women, and programs aimed at helping men understand their health and women needs, and plus the government generous contribution to women's welfare.
  25. A Roughrider came see me about 2 years ago Apparently as a female you were suppose to be: - Gawking, staring - realize who this person is as in instant fame - discover startling things - celebrate physical prowess - drown in gorgeousness Just amazing, where did they get this from I wonder, because it is obvious, or they are brainwashed on their sexuality It doesn't stop the rascal from trying their tricks - so I did question immediately - money in the bank? liquid and capital - number of partners? since they are notorious - size? The important things that matters to a girl er the money wasn't enough
