  2. Saw it in the theatre and I was disappointed there was so much slant. They even made Paulson look like he wasnt working his ass off to stave of a global collapse. Also keep in mind the interviewer/director can edit those interviews to make them look like whatever he wants. And keep in mind he is going into the offices of these people and calling them unethical and liars. I would expect anyone to react with and 'get the he'll out of my office.' It would be nice nice to see some balance in things now and then.
  3. I don't see how Phx winning justifies the seeding/playoff setup (which undeservedly gave them home ice advantage). And I definitely wouldn't say Chicago was one of the best teams in the league. I am Hawks fan and I don't think they had a chance at a run. They have 2 good D men (When Oduya is your #3 that says something), poor goaltending and Torres knocked out their leading scorer. Not to meantion that Chi outshot them in every game (badly in most cases) and of the 6 games in the series 5 went into overtime. That is hardly ripping them apart. Now the Kings actually did beat the top 2 ranked teams in the league and outplayed them. But they were actually seeded according to their season.
  4. I'm not quite sure about the numbers with the other guys but Smith was facing an ave. or 35 plus shots a game against Chi and they weren't shots from the blue line with no traffic. As much as everyone talks about Phx and their defensive style they allowed a lot of odd man rushes and their D isn't that great (other than Smith) and they can play very sloppy at times. Didn't Nashville outshoot them 16-1 in the third period of game 1? Quick can also get peppered on a few shifts. He was tested against Van for sure. King Henrik's and Holtby's teammates have been blocking a lot of shots but there have been a few others that deserve the praise they are getting.
  5. Will it allow them to pay less than the min. wage or are we just assuming? I'd like to hear some thoughts on how this fits w Harper's immigration policies in general too. How does it complement or contradict them?
  6. It could be meant to undercut them and their wages. Whether it works that way or produces more unions is another question. And I think there is more tO it than just throwing bones to donors and businesses.
  7. Do we know if this will apply to every sector? I Know this won't let Tim Horton's pay less than min. wage but what about in Fort Mac where those workers get 15 or 20 bucks an hour? Would they be able to get 15% less than that? Harper must have more motives for this. Undercut unions, maybe fill jobs with temp. foreign workers that aren't being filled now by Canadians......what else? What else do we know about this? There seems to be little info. Out there.

  9. http://www.thestar.com/iphone/opinion/editorials/article/1168905--two-tiered-wage-system-announced-by-tories I know this is an opinion piece but what is this 'prevailing wage' and did the government previously tell employers in certain sectors that they had to pay people the 'average wage?' I'm not sure I understand this. Wouldn't employers pay minimum wage to a lot of manual laborers (immigrant or not) because that is what they can fill those positions with? I didnt think the gov. told them they must pay above minimum wage. I is confused.
  10. Are you a big Canucks fan? I would think you could still cheer for your team and enjoy the sun.
  11. As a Hawks fan I loathe the Canucks but I hope they don't blame Luongo for this one. I don't even think he deserved all the blame he got for them losing to Boston last year. The Sedins didnt show up in the finals but everyone blamed Luongo. You would think he didn't win this country gold in their city. Again, as a Hawks fan I'm so glad Van got LA in the first round. I didn't want Chi to have to deal with Quick (although Smith isn't much better). Give Quick and the Kings a lot of credit.
  12. My picks are the same but I never bother picking the number of games. And I picked the Kings because I hate Vancouver.
  13. But you can't compare the two. At least not fairly. Bush came into office w a record surplus and Obama came in and had to deal with a global economy near collapse. The recovery has been weak but financial crises generally take longer to bounce back from. Considering the circumstances I think he's done a good job too. Could it have been better? Of course. But the economy is recovering. Just out of curiosity, what was the alternative? What would a GOP president have done?
  14. Yeah Obama really had it made when he came into office. :|
  15. I think the Preds take the Wings out in the first round.

  17. It doesn't have to be in great shape. It just has to continue to improve.
  18. What was Cantor thinking? http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0412/74926.html If he wanted to support Kinzinger why didn't he just directly contribute to his campaign? Or would he not bs able to give him that much?
  19. I think the Preds could be there. I'd like to see the Hawks there but it might be the Blues. I'd love to see the Canucks knocked out ASAP. Don't want the Bruins to go far either. Rangers could go far if Henrik plays well. Pens will be there but I'd love for the Sens to make a run.
  20. Also, his biggest plus is his business background but how much will that benefit him and how many votes will it get him if the economy is in good shape come election time?
  21. I don't dislike Romney (and I am an Obama supporter) and I do think he is smart and capable and he could even make a good President but I don't see him as a great candidate. He makes too many mistakes. He seems to always say the wrong thing and with all his money and organization he is barely putting the other GOP candidates away. He comes across as awkward at times and while I do think he can appeal to independents I don't think he is able to come across as understanding of people's everyday problems.
  22. Anger is a bit much but I just picked the lowest choice. My dislike of Quebec at times is not irrational. I also dislike other provinces at times or when it comes to certain issues. No one every calls me on it when I criticize other provinces though.
  23. Last day or the Reg season. Every team is in action and the Hawks are playing the wings. One of my favorite times of the year. Who wants to pick the final four playing for conference titles?
