  1. Weird not going to one of the top two. Not that her support means anything really. Who think Mulcair gives Topp a top spot as a show of unity?
  2. Not that it could be set up that way but that would give the Liberals all the power by controlling the finances.
  3. What do you make of the releasing of delegates? I thought there would be more out and out endorsements.
  4. For a first offense? They don't even have 10 games left in the season. Are you a Canucks fan? Lol
  5. Good point. Why be leader now when you know you'll have Tobuild and not be PM anytime soon I think I did hear about Gerard Kennedy running and he didn't rule it out. I can't stand him. And he was the one that thought Dion would be good. That tells me his political instincts arent great.
  6. I think she is a write-off now. She's bleeding support. That seems to make it even worse for the Party. Maybe not in terms voter turnout today but overall since 'party members' aren't involved in the (federal) party.
  7. Is it just me or is the Cullen talk very minimal? They haven't talked to him or even about him much. Especially considering his position.
  8. Nash is falling apart. I don't know why she didn't throw her support behind someone right after the first ballot. She feel apart in an embarrassing way.
  9. Ok maybe not always but for a while.
  10. Hasn't that always been their way? Fiscal conservative and socially liberal. I was going to wait until the NDP race was over and start a Liberal Leadership thread. I think it depends on the Liberal leader. I don't know if Rae is the guy to win govoernment but I think he can be the guy to build the party. Because let's face it. They aren't goog from 3rd to 1st in the next election.
  11. And she is one of the more left wing MPs isn't she? That would be interesting. My gut says Topp would go to Cullen. Interesting that people are either endorsing Mulcair or saying that aren't endorsing. Do They see him as inevitable and don't war to split the party more? And stay in his good graces?
  12. I'm wondering if Cullen would endorse or stay in and try to win since he did better than expected.
  13. Crap. I thought soething was up when she didn't back out. She has a long way to go though. Now she can move her and his supporters though.
  14. Mulcair benefits even if others dont endorse him as long as they don't endorse Topp (or Cullen).
  15. What are the chances of 2nd and 3rd in this scenario joining up for a anti-Mulcair vote? Anyone? Could it happen if 2nd and 3rd aren't that close in terms of votes? Note: A Nash led NDP would absolutely lose my vote.
  16. Don't they paint her as the most left-wing of the party?
  17. I don't know much (or anything) about military law/justice but I'd guess that 'premeditated' justifies the death penalty. The death penalty being something that can at least partly appease the Afghans. I don't doubt for a second that he just snapped and that it was not premeditated but that is just the politics of it.
  18. Every president says that every visiting leader is a strong ally. Every once in a while the press in the US pay attention to a foreign leader visiting and read way too much into it. Remember the 'France is the US's strongest ally?' talk from not that long ago? I take this as a sign that his diplomatic efforts are generally going well since this isn't really much of an attack.
  19. Dewar's speech is already falling flat. And are there that many 84 yr olds out there working that can't retire? 84??
  20. I think part of that is that it is directed to NDP members right now. I liked the delivery but I agree that he isn't like JL. I've heard the comparisons even before today and I don't see it. I like Cullen. With that said at the very least the comparison is pre-mature. That might have more to do with his age though. I liked that he talked about party unity. That might appeal with people who've been reluctant to go with him. Even if he doesn't win he could position himself well and gain big from this. As far as the environmental stuff goes, that is more pandering a bit. Plus he is from BC. I don't generally side with the NDP on those issues but I understand that those things need to be said and are directed at that chunk of the base.
  21. I just signed in to say I enjoyed his convention speech. I would say his is doing pretty good considering his standing pre-leadership race and his liberal co-operation thing. Now whether or not he can go toe to toe with Harper is another thing. You never know though.
  22. OK, so who thinks Keith should get more than 3 games (or more than 5) for that elbow? and who thinks that Sedin should get something for his earlier hit on Keith? I'm a hawks fan so I want somewhat unbiased opinions. If you are a Van. fan will you burn the city down if you are unhappy with the suspension?
  23. I'm not saying I understand a victim's feelings but another person's actions don't automatically justify any form of harsh 'justice.' And my original point was not just directed toward victims and their families/friends. It was toward anyone who harbors anti-(fill in the blank) sentiments.
  24. Not everyone seeks revenge. So we couldn't have opinions on these things unless someone close to us has been killed??
