How can allowing an employer give the boot for any reason without any explanation or prior warning to someone for the first 2 years of employment be a good thing for the worker(s)? If this were to happen in Canada, you can bet your asses we would have demonstrations in the streets. What prevents the employer to just sack employees with 2 years - 1 day of service and just hirer new ones? Cheap on demand labour!

There is a massive difference between someone who might lean towards the left and a communist. Lou Dobbs isn't one of them, he may be left leaning from your vantage point put at worst/best he's center right. But there isn't. We are all fed the same crap with little to no variance in news reporting. It's all the same old crap hidden behind a shroud of "unbiased" journalism. There is barely any difference between the major news outlet from Fox news, cbs, bbc etc... Almost no(or barely a blurb) news outlet carried the Chicago protest from last week. Did you know that over 200 000 people showed up? Did you know that 2 British soldiers were caught by Iraqi police in "Arab" clothing with a car full of explosives. The British military had to rescue them by busting in. Did you know that there are reports of Iraqi taxi drivers getting pulled over at check points for "inspection" just to get their cars back with explosives strapped to the under side of their cars ? (obviously most of my stories are from a leftist vantage point but I'm sure you could find stories from the other side) We only get to see a small part of the spectrum. Not because the authorities force it on us but because (insert controversial images & story here) might offend certain people and lose ratings(and money) to a competitor. I want the journalist to attack Bush or John Kerry and I want them to tell me why. I'll make my own decision on who to believe. Why not attack the root of the problem. Make it a felony for corporations (or individual families for that matter) to hire "illegal" immigrants in the first place. People cross the border as illegal immigrants because corporations break the law in the first place. If we punish both like you said, who do you think pays the biggest price, the large corporation or the lowly immigrant in search of a better life. Making "illegal" immigration a felony will not stop people from wanting a better life.

Fast track all "illegal" immigrant that are currently in the US through citizenship and make it a felony for corporations to hire "illegal" immigrants. Don't make it a felony to be an illegal immigrant, this amounts to attacking the symptoms and not the source which is the businesses themselves who engage in this practice. Why would there be illegal immigration if there are no jobs available. No one will jump the border if they end up worst off than they were before. My two lefty cents.

Exactly! Let people decide what they want to hear. A journalist telling me he's unbiased is full of it. It's human nature whether we do it consciously or subconsciously.

Have journalist openly attack the left/right figure heads, show the two sides of stories and let the viewer decide where they fall and what channel they want to watch. All we get to see now is a very small spectrum of stories with "unbiased" journalist for fear of offending people and losing ratings. I say, let them offend us. We might of actually heard about the 300 000 strong rally in Chicago last week or the liberal fraud earlier or that British commandos were caught with a car filled with explosives in Iraq. These are all stories that were barely mentioned in the news.

I don't want to jump in too deep in this thread for fear of making an ass of myself(I've only had micro and macro economics classes and that was enought for me )but like you said capitalism may be the best method for spreading wealth we have(I'm of a different opinion but that's me) but it's still doesn't mean it's doing a good job. Half the worlds population lives on less than $2 a day. The wealthiest nation on Earth has the widest gap between rich and poor of any industrialized nation. The 3 richest people on the planet have more capital than the 600 million that live in the poorest countries.
