Careful, you might be labelled racist and gender biased. She would make a perfectly wonderful Liberal Leader. Go for it Hedy. ANd you've successully gotten yourself labelled as halfwit.
-
You claimed that the left wing press was painting Harper as anti-American. That's false, and that's what I criticized you for. Pay attention to what I write and you just might get it.

They probably took a look at New Orleans and saw the results of 50 years of liberal rule. *shiver* That's one way to look at it. Some others would blame recent climate change, admitted by all except the radical right, for hurricanes that are coming in greater frequency and strength than ever before recorded. Yes, it may seem like I'm out on a limb, but at least I have something of an a rgument going, which is more than can be said for your brainless post. Boru, After your vicious and baseless attacks on me I am going to "go out on a limb" and agree with you. There is no doubt in my mind that the climate issues we are dealing with are a direct result of global warming and a dangerous increase in greenhouse gas emmissions. We need to bond together as a nation to do anything in our power to create a "Made in Canada" plan to deal with the environment as quickly as possible. You may call me a "right wing radical" for saying we need to dump Kyoto, but as someone who takes a very left-wing approach on the environment, I must say the Chretien government signed Kyoto and then sat on their asses while our greenhouse gas emmissions went up 24%. I didn't call you radical right wing, although I do figure you to be far right of center on most issues. I said that climate change is admitted as fact by all except the radical right wing. -

You're generalizing far too much. The program can be abused, sure. Just like many other programs can be abused. That doesn't change the fact that it is a necessary social safety net. It's very easy to rip it to shreds without knowing the actual situations of those people who are in need of it. The actual people using the program, for the most part, honestly in need of help following an unfortunate layoff. All it takes is a company to face a bad quarter and a dozens of jobs can be cut. Anybody with an objective eye would also realize that it often takes alot less than poor earnings to justify job cutting. What seperates Canada from the United States, and places it higher year to year as a better country to live, is that government is responsible to it's own citizens. You would think differently if the same situation were to ever sneak up on you. Until that time, you continue to spew your radical right wing ideology. -
How so? There completely unrelated but they are still linked together. How are they linked together? I don't follow.

Well, I have to hand it to you. Your post is quite a garble of general nonsense. Firstly, give us numbers that show Martin collected more in taxes than governemnt has collected from general Sales taxes. It might be a different form of taxation, but the end result is the same. Secondly, the UI program as a social engineering program is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a safety net for workers who lose their job. When a recession does hit Canada, and one will at some time or other, than it is a necessary program to ensure adequare living conditions. State control fo the media? You've got to be kidding me. CBC is a single, government SPONSERED channel. The rest is quite private and exercise their right to do so, as we all saw during the campaigns. Your post can be brushed off as pathetic right wing propaganda. Anything that doesn't fit in your very tightly spaced blinders is communist. Yep. -
I agree with you. They should not be recognized by Canada, or any other government for that matter. Not that I think it's an issue for Stephan Harper. If he were to recognize them, it would be an early bullet to the brain of his minority government. A group cannot govern, then turn it's cheek and advocate crimes against humanity.

So you're equating being non-caucasian and a woman with campaign irrelgularities? Just another stigma that would prevent her from getting votes? Whether or not she seeks it she hasn't got a hope in hell of getting it but there are some voters out there who wouldn't consider your first two criteria automatically disqualify anyone. What would the next election slogan be? Vote for Harper. He's not a ______ _______ (supply your own racial and gender based slurs, two words maximum). Good grief, how did you come up with that one, I thought she was saying she'd have a better chance of winning in these politically correct times, because she is a woman and visible minority. Strange how comments can be twisted to suit a purpose. The problem with discussion anywhere is that the fear of being called names e.g. racist, homophobic etc. is crippling the ability to filter truth from falsehood, and stiffling any real discussion of some issues. You missed the boat on that one. Or intentionally ignored the purpose of her post..strange how comments can be twisted to suit a purpose isn't it scirblett? She was saying Hedy would be a good Liberal leader because of the gender and ethnicity. In the same breath, she was outlining why Hedy is corrupt. That was obviously a sarcastic post outlining her faults, and there is no distinguishing one fault from the other. There was no intent for discussion here, just a general attack on Hedy, and the poster quite obviously included race and gender in that list.

Is that the best you can do is jump on the stigma bandwagon? Fry would be elected on the basis of politcal correctness. What the heck, why not - she is excellent and would most certainly improve race relations by declaring in Parliament that in Prince George " & I believe she added Kamloops too, that crosses are being burned on lawns. But there was a piece in a BC Newspaper at that time where Fry was seen with a group of women burning a cross at the steps of a Catholic Church. That kinda sounds to me like she was stirring up hate. I wish I could remember the ugly comments Fry made a fews years back at a Status of Women's conference and calls for her resignation were made. And that, has nothing to do with race or gender but mouth. Racism and Sexism abound amongst the conservative supporters on this website. No surprise there eh??? Not really, no.

No, But the left wants us to...they want us to think Harper is being anti-American now... Jason Kenney said it best...he said, when you talk to your friends, sometimes you've got to show some tough love. I think he's right... What is with you and your constant anti-left idiocy? You seriously need to grow a brain cell. Nobody is making Harper as anti-american. The press, left and right alike, are reporting on what he said. I didn't read a single paper calling him anti-American,. No posts either, aparrt from the delusional rantings of TML that is. The issue of Canadian sovereignty over ther Arctic is not a partisan issue TML. Get a clue.
-
Didn't you hear...Bush is second in command to take over if Harper is out of commission... Earlier today, CBC reported that a CIA plane landed in Ottawa and were apparently talking to Harper about "disappearing for awhile" while the new "transition" process took effect immediately." I bet you at least 65% of the left in Canada would believe that crap too... Right. Another thougthless post from TML. Shock of all shocks. Is it really beyond you to post something constructive? Get a clue.

I give Martin credit for his economic management in his time as Finance Minister. Doesn't change the fact that once he became PM he became an utter failure. Or the fact that he's a member of a criminal organization. See, I can give credit on both sides of the fence (doesn't hurt when he's a fiscal conservative until he whored himself to the NDP). You can only have business leaders doing well if they have a pro-business government. A government that gets too involved in the economy start to play favours to their friends and screws up the whole idea. For example, Irvings in the Maritimes. He "whored himself to the NDP" out of necessity. It was the weasel Harper who was refusing to support any minority government, and fought Martin at every turn. Only after the fact, when Harper was smarting that the NDP took advantage of Harper's stonewalling, did he cry that he would have preferred Martin's original corporate tax cuts... No, Martin wasn't whoring himself. He was making a minority government work. Although I'd like to see this current Conservative government hold for a while, to see how harper deals with crisis and manages public services...he really doesn't deserve any cooperation from the other parties. If they torpedoed him early on, then he is getting his own medecine. -
I doubt it was intention. Just idiocy.
-
Highly unlikely since Martin resigned. Also, too much Liberal baggage and who knows what the Conservatives may well uncover and this is Martin's graceful opportunity to distance himself. I have a feeling that many scandals will be coming. Whether they are fabricated or not is another question...

So, what's good for Ontario is good for the country? That's what we've thought of the eastern voters for a long time. We out west don't exist to Ottawa. Soon...100 years is long enough. So, what's good for the West is good for Canada? That's what we've thought of the western voters for a long time. We out east don't exist in Calgary. Soon...100 years is long enough. Talk about living in a glass house. Look at how Western issues compare to Eastern, and you should'nt be surprised at the differing voting patterns. Ralph Klein threatening to privatize health on a daily basis, using the notwithstanding clause if necessary. The Alberta court judgements and government position on same sex marriage and gay equality rights.. The East is has a more tolerant view on homosexual rights and has a different view on health care. You're voting for what's good for the prairies, not Canada. So why is RB wrong to do the same? Although I'm decided already, reading posts like yours give me ample motivation to vote Liberal. If this is the kind of nonsense we're bringing into the House of Commons, I don't want any partof Conservative, be it majority or minority.

(bold and italics mine) And that's why I just might vote NDP. I think the Liberal party would be alright under different leadership. Martin is too closely implicated with all the scandal nonsense, despite being essentially cleared, for voters comfort. Put in John Manley, or Brian Tobin, and it would be a different story. -
Not to change the topic, but that is unfeasible. One of the differences in this campaign is the use of the Internet. Laws controlling how information is spread during campaigns - including campaign finance restrictions - will become increasingly difficult to enforce. No one can stop the publication of a poll on the Internet, and in the polling business, this is the money shot. This is their last chance to predict before the real numbers become known. It's PR for the lucrative polling they do for marketers. You're not changing the subject at all Right on topic. I agree, that it wil be harder and harder to stop polls with the ease of transferring information. However, that being said, the polls most people pay attention to are the big tracking company polls. It's easy enough to enforce how those big 3 or 4 act. It is their last big moneyshot, but the integrity of the vote must be maintained. In my opinion, polls have high potential of influencing the vote. While influencing a vote is obviously fine, the way polls do it, just rubs me the wrong way. The way they set the polls up almost leaves the impression with me that there are only two parties to vote for, so why bother thinhking about any more? Just look at the poll, the others are statistically elimiated. Don't waste your vote on them...etc... That's my take anyways.

I agree with the Liberal party being unfit to govern. Paul Martin is a goof. ( To put it mildly) I can't stand how he attacks Harper for his ideology when it's one Martin has himself been associated with his entire political career , leading up to his party leadership that is... Now he's morphed into a man of the people...champion for human and social rights...yaddayaddayadda... He's quite the contrast to his father isn't he? His father a strong advocate for public health care, and now his son... Anyways, that being said, my vote goes to NDP. I am not voting NDP because I feel they would be a credible alternative for governing, but a very legitimate candidate for a good opposition. Let's face it, the CPC is the most Conservative minded party Canada will ever have elected. The Canadian Alliance did swallow the PC after all... So, a strong dissenting voice will be necessary to keep them accountable. If there was still a Progressive Conservative Party, they would surely get my vote. The current version of that party is still in it's infancy and not a candidate for my vote yet. -
I'm going to call into question any poll released this late. It's not only exercising undue influence on the actual results, but released by itself like that has no peer review. It's also completely misleading. Read the actual who'd ya vote for category and the Conservatives are up by 6? This is ridiculous, I was ok with polling. But releasing one so late on the night before the election, thats just crap. Hopefully the general population doesn't read this. Or at least reads the whole polling result that shows the lead has only shrunk 1% to 6%... not down to 1%. No offense Geoffrey, but this just basically sounds like you can't stand to see the sight of a poll showing the Conservative lead evaporating. Although this poll was late, there were many, many more released throughout the day. Why is this one so different? it was released 6 hours later? Please... This poll was posted dwithin the bounds of the law. You don't like it? Then write to your MP and have them change the regulations for poll ppsting. I personally agree with you. I don't think there should be any polling for at least the three days leading to an election. If not , longer. But so long as the rules stand as they are, don't blast someone for posting results that you don't like. Be honest, is it because you don't like seeing the Conservative lead diminished? "Hopefully the general population doesn't read this. Or at least reads the whole polling result that shows the lead has only shrunk 1% to 6%... not down to 1%." Clearly illustrates your position I think. I don't know that this poll is accurate, but it doesn't surprise me at all that the Blue machine has lsot it's momentum. It was only a matter of time right?

Haha, well, no need to call him out I guess. There are radicals and rocvk heads on each side. I can be pretty rock headed myself.
-
Poeple will indeed be pissed, but at who is not atall certain. JOe Clark was forced into an early election call, and look what happened to him... Harper will ahve to be open to dealing with opposition that are ideally far form his own base.
-
These guys are all way out of their margins of error. I've lost faith in polling as of right now. You have to expect that with polls. But, not only are someof thos emajor polls showing a LPC lead in Ontario, but the regional papers are showing that move as well. It's highly unlikely that the Liberals can pull off an upset, but the Conservative losses in Ontario are showing that Harper is still viewed by many as an extremist. A Conservative minority would definately be kept in check, much to the dismay of those against equality rights.
-
Yes, Brian Mulroney does indeed deserve all the credit for what will happen to Canada in the next few years. Let the good times roll once again. Don't worry, I think Harper will be a better PM than Mulrooney... I certainly hope so...although Mulroney never had to deal with a minority...

*Restitution. Criminals should have to compensate their victims. - With what would they be compensating their victims exactly...? *Non-aggression. Say no to the bombing of civilians and their homes. - Who's saying yes? *Oppose Kyoto and let Canadians make their own decisions about climate change propaganda. - Propaganda eh? And how would Canadians be making their own decisions when they know nothing about it? Nothing wrong with healthy cientific discussion about the state of our planet. My conclusion: Is this really a candidate running in Canada? It sound an awful lot like some of the rhetoric you would pick up in a Republican platform. Honestly, what are you doing? Apart from making an asshat of yourself that is...
