Tories to crack down on parole for non-violent offenders
Hydraboss replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's partly what I was getting at. You want to make a statement about how drug users are incarcerated and I want to know the sentences that are given to them. I agree with your distinction...personal use vs dealing. So, what are the sentences commonly given to people convicted of possession of...say...a quarter ounce? How about 3 or 4 grams of weed? Anyone who says that someone in possession of a kilo of cocaine only has it for personal use is full of shit. So how many people are put behind bars for carrying a gram of hash? Three x's? A couple of joints? And I am not talking about people that have prior convictions for dealing. -

Please supply of list of sentences available to judges in the US for the crime of drug-using. If the only crime these people committed was the using of drugs, I am curious how long they are incarcerated for that. Thanks, -

Let's think back to...what...1971? Wasn't that about the time when a Liberal Solicitor General stood up and said some inane thing about how the "justice" system in Canada would change...“From now on, we have decided to stress the rehabilitation of individuals rather than the protection of society.” Or did I dream that? Another Liberal low-life -

Eddie the Idiot is pissing people off in record numbers (which is good). You're right on the money that the WA is playing into this as much as possible and I believe will steal a huge number of votes because of it. Will those votes translate into seats? Maybe in some areas, but mostly I think they will serve to hammer the PC's on their popular vote and may destroy quite a few of the blow-out Tory ridings (65-75% popularity may be a thing of the past). That in itself will provide simply hours of sound bites on the news. And Ed will be booted out on his ass (which is good). -
Ross Rebagliati to seek Liberal nomination
Hydraboss replied to kimmy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You said it. The post I made above yours has been up for over nine hours and nobody said a word about it. No PM's. No nasty notes from the moderators. Nothing. What do you think the chances are I would receive the same non-reaction if I had substituted the word "muslim" for Catholic? -
Norm, the problem is it's getting really hard to find regulation dwarfs. Now kittens, on the other hand, you can find in plentiful numbers outside any Chinese restaurant.

Indoor, buddy, think indoor. Enjoyment year round.

That's right. They're run by small-boy-raping-god-fearing men. Or is that only the Catholics? -
It would appear that you actually still believe that people on this board take you seriously. Not only do we arrest teenagers in hallways, we tend to ship them off to a secret detention center (that would make Gitmo look like Disneyland) where they are tortured, have a federal Conservative logo branded onto their buttocks, get their heads shaved with a sickle, are forced to watch "Canada is Free" indoctrination films (8mm of course), and then are brainwashed to believe that all of China is evil and that we must fight the Red Masses. We also have a "kick-a-kitten-for-distance" sporting league. It's only amateur right now, but we're hoping it will be an Olympic demonstration event by 2014.

Wow. You managed to equate apprehension of a thief to murder. That IS the same argument that is used against capital punishment, right? So please tell me, what is wrong with the idea of citizen's arrest? We'd be, like, the first nation ever to endorse allowing the aid of everyday people to prevent crime. The horror! As for your statement that the guy was an "alleged" criminal, you are aware that if I personally witness, say, someone stab someone to death, decapitate them, and then eat parts of them....the person is only "alleged" to have committed the crime? Yup, let's let him go because the police are "rationed" and can't always be there.

...or perhaps increasing OAS and implementing mandatory pension insurance?

Just noting the similarities between two liberals. Seems to be a pattern. When people slam Harris as the "evil conservative", they most often forget to look in the mirror to see a liberal standing there.

"I will not raise taxes." Ring a bell? "I will get rid of the GST!" Ring another bell? Dalton is a bold faced liar. Please, try to dispute that.

Well put. For those of us from Alberta, she means: The guy was not thrown in prison against his will. He should have no grounds to sue Canada because we are not responsible to prove he is innocent. He is responsible for that. Pound salt moocher. -
Sumbitch, that's gotta hurt!

As long as they're not covering there face by wearing a mask, I have no problem with it.

You hit that one directly on the head. Even this would have been sufficient: -
Ah, but the point is that the wearing of a burka is not a sign of Islam. The requirement appears nowhere in the Koran according the the Congress.
-
Interesting. I would have thought that gut reaction would have been to say not at all. I agree that no one should be able to disguise their face when voting, but I have reservations about anyone covering their faces in public as a rule. (Of course, this could get interesting when it's 35 below and some people wear face masks)

No. Statements like mine accuse every other lazy and jealous idiot of being angry and resentful. I said nothing of provinces. -
So if this debate were about KKK wearing white hoods in Canada, would that change anyone's opinion? I'm curious if the "I'm for" or "I'm against" crowds would have other feelings if the discussion centered on a known racist group. Since the Koran says nothing about women having to wear them (according to the Congress), should the Klan be allowed to cover their faces in public? How about vote?

Generally, idiots like this are fueled by jealousy of Alberta. Can't have our wealth except that which we donate through inter-provincial welfare, so they make bonehead comments to make themselves feel relevant in the world. You know the type... I am owed universal healthcare and I'll damn well go to a hospital emergency room for a splinter if I feel like it. I am owed welfare, so I'll sit on my ass and let working people pay for me if I feel like it. I am owed money that comes from Alberta because I'm Canadian, and I'll have a great time telling everyone how evil they are while they pay my way in the world if I feel like it. As Albertans, we're used to morons like this and their inane comments. Doesn't really bother us because we tend to consider the source, and the lack of common sense and intelligence they possess.
