This discussion never goes anywhere. It has come up time and time again (http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=8313&hl=%2Bparkland+%2Bteacher), and the "pro" teacher/union side and the "anti" teacher/union side can never reach agreement - or even agreement to disagree. There is no middle ground on this. There are some (me included) that have absolutely zero respect for the tactics employed by the part time workers, and there are others (me not included) that think of them as the undying bastions of all that is good. No middle ground. Teachers are not accountable for themselves. Nor for their pay checks. They are an absolute burden to taxpaying society except as a babysitting service (and an expensive one at that). There are good ones no doubt - we just can't see them for all the masses of terrible ones out there.

How would you reform our prison system?
Hydraboss replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You are one sick fuck. No wonder I rarely post here anymore. People like you have come to the board. -
Traveller. Oh, Travelllllleeeerrrrr....... Would someone PLEASE predict an "easy PC majority"?????
-
So Traveller, How confident are you right now that Albertans won't vote the "right wing, backwards, religious freaks called Wildrose" into power? You've been spouting about it forever and pretty much guaranteeing the result will be PC - because they're so centrist. 46% in the polls as of today. Doesn't quite sound like the bitch-slap you've been predicting. Any comments?

Cell phone protection plan finally
Hydraboss replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Why the hell would anyone take on a contract they can't afford, and then expect the government (read: taxpayer) to bail them out? That just doesn't make sense. -
Danielle Smith's Wild Roses ERRR Tires
Hydraboss replied to Boges's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This whole thing was a stroke of campaign genius. Look around on the net and you'll find this story EVERYWHERE. Many of the blogs and columns state something to the effect of: "We wouldn't even have known who she was if it wasn't for this." Absolute genius. She's been out of the news and now she is THE conversation piece everywhere. One guy from some ad/promotional company said he couldn't have planned this type of publicity for ten times what it's going to cost to switch the graphics (about $10,000). The ad (picture of the bus) is on every talk show, every radio show, and all over the internet. And the Liberal Alison Redford can't attack the leader of the Wildrose for it. No one can. She's untouchable on this one. Friggin genius. -
No, still haven't moved. All they're offering right now is Williamsport, PA or Minot, ND and I have no interest in either. Waiting for either Tulsa, OK or one of our western Texas/NM locations as my home base. As for your assertion of just how good Canada is...let's just say I'm glad I'm Albertan and not Canadian.

Simply the single most depressing occurrence in Canadian history....the US not taking the entire northern landmass as their own. Think about it: We wouldn't be a country that "hates the States" (except when convenient) We wouldn't be a country that whines to sit at the "big table" in international affairs The Liberals would never have existed We actually would have been known as a superpower Trudeau would never have been leader We wouldn't have this failure called "multiculturalism" The Liberals would never have existed Imagine the US with the oil reserves of Alberta - means never having to kiss China's ass Human Rights Commissions would never have existed Our smokes would be a hell of a lot cheaper I could live in Texas, Nevada, or Oklahoma without having to compete with a Mexican or an interior designer for entry Trudeau would never have been leader Toronto would have to kiss the ass of the REAL center of the universe Kwebek would have either fallen in line or be extinguished from the Earth My Harley Davidson parts wouldn't be 35% more expensive when the dollar is at par No NEP (...and I was going to say something about the Bastard Trudeau but I can't remember what it was...) Superbowl commercials Really, REALLY cool stuff for our armed forces Lower taxes No hidden two-tier health care - we'd finally have REAL two-tier health care. And three-tier. And four-tier. Ya, baby! And that bastard, Western Canadian-hating prick Trudeau would have lived and DIED without even being known.

So I must have missed something....there were TWO new episodes on Sunday. The zombie scene at the barn was good. The bar scene at the end was excellent. Now they'll have to deal with the Philly mob which should make things a little more interesting(I seem to remember suggesting they should add in the "Dawn of the Dead" biker gang concept). Rick will become more interesting as well. It wasn't murder because the wiseguy behind the bar went for his gun. The fat guy was drawing but Rick was faster. 44 migraine headache for him. Hopefully the shots bring the "townsfolk" to the scene. Lori flipping the car is another stupid "aside" for the show. I could see her ending up being held by the mob or something similar. Real smart girl - takes one handgun and one clip to go to an unsecured town of zombies. They won't kill her off because of the pregnancy and that's what going to keep Shane from leaving the group. Great.....another "let's go looking for a missing group member" annoyance. They still need to kill off T-Dog and the whiny mother whats-her-face. And Dale. Definitely Dale. I think I would have been tempted to do away with him when he was hiding the guns. Replace them with some people who actually add to the story. Maggie should join the group IF they ever leave the farm. She's more interesting than half the group now (also has a nice ass which helps). Glen needs a squeeze anyway. And that guy is starting to become more valuable to the group and to the storyline. Liking him more and more each episode.

Jacee, how does that article have anything to do with the Occupy thing? It simply quotes (poorly) the WSJ article that is talking about Wall Street reform in paying people. Hint: Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (enacted January 5, 2010) Occupy Wall Street "protest" (began September 17, 2011) Are you intentionally trying to mislead everyone again?
-
Got anything measurable?
-
You had me at It accomplished nothing. It was a waste of resources that we even had to send police to deal with a bunch of potheads. It is already mostly forgotten by the general public. The "protesters" will claim victory amongst themselves - because no one else will give them the time of day to listen to their nonsense. Oh....and it accomplished nothing. Not even a footnote in history.
-
This is my favorite part.... Uhmm, haven't Albertans been saying that for about 40 years now? How come "The Star" never listened then?

You misunderstand me. Some breeds don't shed (much) and that can be a major plus for some owners. What I was trying to get to was the fact that some people want a particular breed to be changed so it doesn't shed - for example, trying to make a Border Collie so it doesn't shed would be basically impossible (after a week, I could have stuffed a pillow with the fur she lost in our house). A poodle is a great example of this, a German Shepard is not. There are different breeds, and people should just pick one. I get pretty riled when I hear of someone trying to cross-breed two dogs that will likely be incompatible (mini-Dobermans are one that pisses me right off). A mini Pinscher has been around for hundreds of years, and Dobermans a little less. Then some genius tries to cross a Doberman with a mini-Pin - this is not compatible. Neither would a Great Dane and a poodle. But some people never learn.
-
I've always had pretty strong opinions on animals. Dogs in particular. Over the years I've had Dobermans, an African Ridgeback (Rhodesian), a Dauchaund (weiner dog), and (the best of all) a Border Collie with a small touch of Chow in her. All good dogs and none of them "designer". A year and a half ago, after my Border died at 13, I decided I wanted another Dobie. Went looking for a breeder that fit the bill - and found him. My male Dobie has the "King" gene in both sides of his family and that means he'll weigh in around 120lbs when filled out. He's just now starting to and weighs about 90lbs. Great dog, but what a pain in the ass (faaaarrrrr too intelligent to be just an animal). People don't realize the medical issues they're getting when they buy a "purebred" or a "designer dog". Any large breed that grows too fast can be a target for hip dysplasia. Other breeds has different problems. If it's not done right, the breeder can inadvertently cause "inbreeding" even though mom and dad don't appear related. Mutts are the most stable "breed" of dog there is for people who don't know the requirements of an animal. The ones I can't stand are when people want someone to special breed an animal "so it won't bark" or something just as asinine. Dogs bark. They also shed. Some breeds perhaps less, but that is a biological fact. Don't want either? Get a fish.

Rich vs Poor: 'Survival of the fittest'
Hydraboss replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Of course. They're Canadian rats. -
Sorry, but I have no interest in seeing the pope. And he would likely have no interest in me (I'm too old to be his type)

Hmmm. Couldn't find Pinochet, but my "score" puts me about as "facist" as Harper, and to the "right" somewhere between Gordon Brown and George Bush. The problem with the term "psychopath" as it's being used in this thread, is the assumption that ALL executives that are successful as psychos. That is the equivalent of me calling all Occupy-idiots "mentally retarded". Why don't we have a lengthly discussion as to whether we should test for mental retardation before people are allowed to protest?

And? In business, who gives a shit about empathy? Unless of course you're a counsellor.

Ha! Actually, "Hydraboss" is a line of O&G drill bits I helped design back in the 90's...but nice try Freud.

Long-gun registry to be shot down Thursday
Hydraboss replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So we finally know where the problem lies... It's not guns. It's fucking crazy people. Why the hell did it take you so long to just say that? Solution: microchip nutcases, bipolars, manic depressives, ADHDs, schitzoids, dementias, etc. Insist that every single Canadian get a psych evaluation each and every year, and register the ones that show anything abnormal. -
So you're against gay men having sex, are you? I thought you were so accepting... Or is it only okay IF they are gay? Straight men are "hurting" women? Because there are no And ya, I don't mind her music. My daughter listens to it and it beats the crap out of some of her other choices.

Long-gun registry to be shot down Thursday
Hydraboss replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As long as there are guns, there will be shootings. As long as there are knives, there will be stabbings. Deal with it. Are you planning on microchipping everything in existence? Where does all this stop? I thought you were one of those people who accuses the current government of being "facist"? -
Quebec Pupil Wears Headphones to Avoid Hearing Music
Hydraboss replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Okay, seriously, this has got to be the winning post in this thread. Frickin hilarious.
