  1. I wouldn't recommend it. Actually, the target is up to 305,000, which is about 45,000 more than 2014. Canada will welcome up to 305,000newcomers this year I love the photo in the Star column, it looks like McCallum is a sorcerer trying to conjure up more immigrants from thin air.
  2. Uh huh. I have a feeling we are about to get a preview.
  3. Has the worm turned that quickly?
  4. People did not give them carte blanche to go wild with the expense account and scratch all their itches in the first 120 days. They expected some restraint. Theres a big difference between 5 billion and 25-30 + billion. Im not so sure this is what people voted for.
  5. You're really hung up on this. I'm wondering if it may be impacting your ability to look at this objectively. Tell you what... I will admit that this situation is not entirely the fault of the Liberals; that the current state of the economy has an impact, do you concede that they bear at least partial responsibility for the fiscal pit we're currently sliding into?
  6. I suspect the honeymoon is coming to an end. Its quite revealing that this announcement was made exactly one month to the day before the Liberals release their first budget...the budget that sets the tone for their future mandate. There's little doubt that the intent of this announcement is to soften the impact of what's to come. As Shady said earlier...hold onto your wallets.
  7. Kind of reflects the overall respect (or lack thereof) for fiscal accountability. When you treat people and their trust with disregard, this is what can be expected.
  8. Gee, I'll have to remember this concept the next time my boss comes to me with a problem.
  9. We're beyond that, Harper is not in charge anymore. Keep telling yourself this if it makes you feel better, but it won't help our current situation. Why would you keep telling yourself that it's okay because.... Harper??
  10. In 2 months? Sorry, I'm calling BS.
  11. I don't want it both ways...I just want someone who assures us they are "going to do it differently than their predecessors" to keep a promise. I guess it's too much to ask.
  12. Believe me Smallc, I hope you're right. But considering they promised to run short term deficits of less than 10 billion in each of the next two fiscal years, their spending promises from this point on (or any promises) are suspect at best.
  13. Interesting response...Liberal's are projecting the deficit to be 2-3 time higher than projected in November..."Harper's a liar." When will we start holding the Liberals accountable?
  14. Quite a change from projection of $3.9-billion and $2.4-billion shortfalls forecast just three months ago. This government appears completely incapable of projecting anything with any degree of accuracy even a couple of months ahead, it's disappointing but not unexpected. I am hopeful that the budget will in fact "balance itself", because it is becoming obvious that this current Government sure as hell won't.
  15. As I mentioned in your status update, Finance Minister was quick to offer reassurance to Canadians after this announcement that they made the right choice on October 19th. That should put everyone's mind at ease, right? Unfortunately, this is deficit projection is likely not accurate as it is based on oil at $40/barrel, and does not include promises like implementing recommendations in the T&R Commission and other spending plans to be unveiled in the March 22 budget.
  16. Maybe the leader we have isn't so different as we think.
  17. Hard to disagree with you on this. I guess that's why I rarely post anything on this site any more and only occasionally browse it's contents when I'm in the mood for a chuckle. Ahh, I get it, these concepts are too complicated and beyond the scope of my comprehension. And here I wrote it off as just another crazy conspiracy theory, never did I consider that Harper may be complicit in a massive cocaine smuggling operation. It all makes sense now...
  18. No, that's called integrity. Isn't it, though? I would offer that making promises without the benefit of all of the information is foolish and irresponsible.
  19. I do too. Unfortunately, we've played our hand; there is no business for us to discuss at a table of allies who are committed to fighting ISIS. Sunny ways indeed.
  20. He has a bit of an uphill road however, I don't think his counterparts are tripping over themselves trying to get a selfie with him like with our rock star PM.
  21. How can it be considered a snub? We (Trudeau) committed to withdrawing from combat, we don't belong at the table. This is what we wanted...what we elected. We can't have it both ways, either we are part of the fight or we aren't.
  22. Yeah, but Mr. Sajjan has lots of meetings, meetings happen quite regularly...he goes to meetings we aren't even aware of. There's the number of meetings he has with his counterparts (??)...and he's in contact with the comanders on the ground...and...and...oh, and there's NORAD meetings.
  23. If you could identify which part of my inquiry was baiting, insulting, or lacking in civility in any way, I would be happy to re-phrase it so as not to offend your sensitivity. Help me out here. If the question was simply too awkward for you to address, that's fine as well.
  24. Yeah, but I'm not imposing arrogant characterizations to suspend debate with my assumptions,
