  1. Yes, seriously. Skin color is a non-issue wrt a lot of police/law enforcement. I can attest to that. You're paintng them all with the same brush!
  2. Obviously the cop thought she did something wrong otherwise there wouldn't be any need for handcuffs. The bottom line... minor or not, felon or not, she should've just cooperated nicely...and then, complain later.
  3. You may think there's no reason why you should step out of the vehicle....but what if for some reason he thinks you should step out of your vehicle? Please answer this question. If he asks you to step out of the vehicle, how will you respond? I know about that. They've got a lot of power. It is said that a lot of cops are no better than a lot of criminals. That is why I'm convinced this 15-year old was not scared at all! This particular cop we're talking about was truly only doing his job. In fact, he showed some patience and restraint. Did you count how many times he asked her nicely to give her other hand? And he also told her, "I don't want to use force because you're small and it will hurt you. But I will use force if I have to." She was duly warned. How many cops will go that far? I bet in most cases she wouldn't be asked the third time. Therefore, your sense of judgement is tainted by prejudice. Obviously you've had a negative experience with cops. So far the experiences I've had with our local OPP had been very positive. I found them polite, and a couple of them on separate ocassions had even volunteered valuable advice. Nevertheless, I do not delude myself that therefore all cops are like them. As in all groups, there will be bad apples. And as in all groups, there will be good ones too. yes I remember the case. That was clearly police brutality. He even looked about to make sure nobody was watching before he proceeded to smash her head. And I do agree with you that bad cops should be weeded out of the force.
  4. Where? Cite these fundamentalist Christians who are allegedly preaching hate from their pulpits. And how many abortion doctors got killed? You are talking about ISOLATED INCIDENTS that had been perpetrated by people with obvious psychologivcal problems! These are not comparable with those who are killing all over the world in the name of Islam! Thousands of Muslims riot on the streets......in various countries....from different continents. Are you saying all of these people have psychological problems and/or misunderstood the teachings of their own religion? Well obviously, for these thousands of people to display psychotic responses all at the same time....something must be triggering it! And if they are all claiming it is because of Allah...and the 72 virgins that they were promised if they martyr themselves..... and if they are all unanimously pointing their finger towards their Allah as the giver of instructions, of course who should we blame but the religion of this Allah who's churning out terrorists more than Toyota churns out cars! With a good lawyer, yes. Why do you think they're blaming the web for these young terrorists who get attracted and recruited? Why do you think they're blaming those how-to websites that gives step-by-step instructions how to make bombs? You may be the only one who decided to follow the instructions I gave you to the letter....while the others were smart enough to know better. A good lawyer could come up with a good defense that would suggest I put the idea into your head and that you were unable to resist it. If you happen to have a sordid childhood with abusive parents, were picked on and bullied as a child, poverty-stricken etc.., so much the better....your lawyer could end up painting you as the victim too! Of course it matters. Very much in fact. It shows that there's no comparison between the two! McVeigh was just an isolated incident. Whereas we're seeing this MASS HYSTERIA in the name of Allah for how many years now??? No. You got that line of thought all screwed up! The numbers of people matters! It is impossible to assume that thousands would be crazy or be mentally troubled at the same time.
  5. The statement that I made conveyed....EXASPERATION! And considering how rudely American Woman responded to my legit observation, which was uncalled for since she posted her opinion on this forum....an opinion that I openly challenged. At least give me credit for responding with humor.
  6. Looks like I got your goat, american person. Gee...talking to you is like a lipless person talking to the deaf. Having heard nothing, you criticize him for having no lips.
  7. Yes you mentioned that you find his posts hateful (which seems to suggest that you're now talking about everything he posted)...which veered the discussion at hand in a different direction. You're no longer talking about this particular subject alone. At least that's the message I'm getting from reading it. But then, it's the follow-up statements that all the more stressed that your opinion had now become personal, in my view. Just as a referral, here is what you said: I must've missed it, but where did he mention (in this thread) anything about babies??? Were you referring to his posts in this thread....or posts from other threads as well???
  8. Uh-uh. Read the explanation again why the two are not comparable. Besides, it's not just Bin Laden who's saying he's following the instructions of Islam. What about those Imams who preach hate in their pulpits? We're talking more than just a few handfuls of religious authority figures - not just anybody - who give instructions from their place of worship! And how many were involved with McVeigh in this act? Following the word of God, like what? Cite a specific example please? But yes Christianity and God are being blamed for a lot of things....(from the Inquisition to brainwashing to residential schools etc..,) Obviuously you haven't read all the negative posts about God and Christianity just in this forum alone. If I told you to do it, yes that would make me guilty. Why do you think "masterminds" get tougher penalties? If I wrote a book instructing you to do it, and you followed the instructions I gave in my book....I bet you could use that in your defense. You could put the blame squarely on my lap.
  9. Yes, it was the peppr spray that finally subdued her. So the use of pepper spray was proper and necessary in this situation. I don't know how their policy is about the use of pepper spray....but it would've been easier to have used it sooner than that. At least she's lucky he didn't use a taser....I hear those really hurt.
  10. There was a serial killer called "The Chameleon" who stalked his victims and slowly tortured them....removing parts, bludgeoning and dismembering)...while they were still alive. As he wrote to his last would-be victim (the only one who got away), he want to do it slowly because he want her to feel the pain. This monster spent two nights in her home, without her knowing it (the investigators told her), and the cops told her she has to get out of her place and hide or she'll surely end up dead. She ran to Texas. When the monster finally got caught I think he was on his way to Texas or was already in Texas. He was that determined to get her. You think a monster such as this would ever be human again? Perhaps, with monsters like the one above ....it's humane to put them out of their misery. Btw, why don't they just use the method of overdose of cocaine or sleeping pills?
  11. Now imo, this is an example of a personal attack, even though there was no mention of "racist or bigot." See how it veered off the particular discussion and promptly switched into a PERSONAL ANALYSIS ON SCOTTSA.
  12. But it's not the same with Bin Laden's! Bin Laden is doing it because he is following the instructions of Islam. What about the virgins awaiting the martyrs if they blow themselves up and kill a lot of people? They even specified exactly how many virgins they'll get....where did that number come from??? Surely not from Bin Laden. Why should America be blamed for his terrorist act just because he disagreed with the Federal government??? Did McVeigh follow any federal instructions saying that this is what we should do if they disagree with any federal government policies? Go ballistic and kill people? Your logic says: McVeigh disagrees with the US federal government. He blew up the building and killed hundreds of people. Therefore, the US federal government should be held accountable for his action. EH? Is that how you think we should view that situation?
  13. Rabid. "Scared" would be the last thing I would describe anyone who'd repeatedly defy an officer. That girl was not scared at all....that's not the behaviour of someone who's scared. Defying openly and repeatedly is issuing a challenge....and asking for trouble. Who knows, maybe that poor cop was being set up by this kid hoping to make some cash out of this. Even if she's 15, she could easily be a crack head for all you know. I mean, it's irrational response to openly and repeatedly defy the instructions of an officer. Also, it's scarey to be bit by strangers these days. Biting could be lethal.
  14. Yeah, the cop shouts, "Stop or I'll shoot!" And guess who'll be burying a dead child. Anyway, subservient is not the right word. Respect the law. Obey the law. Those are the appropriate terms for this scenario.
  15. Question: So you got stopped by a cop on your late drive home. And we'll assume that he is a real cop. If the cop repeatedly asked you, "step out of the vehicle, ma'am"....would you be a stupid enough to refuse to step out and argue repeatedly "but I did nothing wrong, officer...?"
  16. I've watched the video and the cop actually showed patience with the girl. He told her "put your hands behind your back" several times, and you could see the girl was being stubborn with her other hand. The cop even warned her, "I don't want to use force on you because you're small, but I will if you don't put your hands behind your back." Even with her arm looking so twisted, you could see she still had the resistance to disobey and ignore the cop's command. Actually, I commend that cop for such patience. He only punched her when she obviously did something to him (and it was not a hard punch), and this was after svereal minutes of telling her....I heard something got knocked down. You know, I feel sorry for most cops who put their lives on the line only to have to deal with whiny people....some of whom simply prejudiced against cops in general. Sure police brutality exists....but let's be honest and not paint everyone with the same brush. This cop was only doing her job. That kid (I don't care whetehr she's female or male) clearly deserved what she got.
  17. If you couldn't even tell the difference between a 15 year old from a small child.....I bet you didn't get the whole story straight either.
  18. A gunshot at the back of the head is also said to be instantaneous and painless.
  19. Why not the obvious? A devious and effective way to further divide the USA? To play mind games? Give ammunition for the anti-war...so they can apply more pressure? To undermine their leaders? To bolster his own image at home...to his supporters at his home or in every battlefield that pits the USA against fundamentalists...at the expense of the USA? "See all you soldiers of Allah, I am brave to come to the belly of the beast!" So he can go ahead with his nuclear plans without any resistance? I have no quarrel with that. He is already on US soil after all, so why not take advantage of that! At least they're trying. But then again, that's their opinion. If they want to mediate, nothing wrong with that. That's my opinion.
  20. No, the US is not at war with Iran. But we all know for a fact that the USA is at war with Iraq....and there is a division among Americans regarding their war with Iraq. We also know for a fact that there is a growing tension between the USA and Iran. If there's to be any dialogue at all....perhaps a neutral country would want to sponsor it. I would go far to say that Bollinger did not think too much as to analyze what this would mean or how it may impact the USA. It's easy enough to say he's doing it for free speech....but really, I found it insensitive (to say the least) to bring this man on American soil and provide him with a podium. I am not sure if Bollinger himself is anti-war. I would imagine he is. I didn't bother to read the Catholic or any Christian religion's stance on the matter. That's their own opinion.
  21. How does it work? Do we posters rate one another or is it Maple Leaf (Greg, Charles)? What's the criteria or reasons for gaining stars? Losing stars? No stars? Etc...,
  22. No. The duty of Christian Church is to spread the teachings of Christ....not edit It to suit anybody or anyone. It is an arrogance on the part of these church officials to assume that they could do with the Words of Christ in anyway they please....like as if God should bow down to political correctness! It is this present-day attitude towards the teachings of Christ that seriously makes me re-think and really take a good look...if these same churches that purports to represent or speak in the Name of Christ are the very same kinds of preachers that Christ has warned us about! After all, it had been noted in several passages in the New Testament about the deviousness of Satan.
  23. I would assume the flurry of same-sex marriages were spurred by the controversy surrounding it. A good percentage of those would've most probably made it just for the purpose of making a political statement. As I've pointed out in past debates, there is a group of homosexuals (bless their hearts) who took the great step of placing a big ad in a national newspaper, urging that marriage should be left alone....and that it's traditional definition be preserved. So gay groups who advocate same-sex marriage are not speaking for the whole gay communities. That small percentage of same-sex marriage will whittle down....due to divorce. What are the chances that those who divorce will go through the motion of getting married again? Yes, I agree with Quist. We should spend the energy by finding ways to strengthen the institution of marriage. We need to promote it. The "enlightened" would say it's just a piece of paper.....but boy, for those who truly understand the depth of its meaning....ripping that piece of paper is not something that's quite so easy to do.
  24. The first time I visited Toronto (around the mid-80's), I couldn't help but compare it with the atmosphere in Ottawa. Yes it offered a lot of sights very big cities usually offer, and it has its own charm what with all the variety of ethnic restaurants in various ethnic districts (Greek, Polish, Chinese). However, the one thing that struck me was that....Toronto is a cold place. I'm not talking about the weather. People are not friendly....or they seem that way. They even seem to avoid looking at other people. Maybe that's how big cities are really like? Ottawa is by far such a friendly place in comparison. Right now, I find no attraction at all that would compel me to want to visit Toronto. I'd rather spend week-ends in Kingston!
  25. If that's true, I'd say wow. If they are that good....then what's the problem with being trained by them? I've heard that Israelis are considered excellent in fighting terrorists, that's why they were asked to train some US military in dealing with hostage situations. Generally speaking, don't you want to learn from the best?
