  1. No. But those who purport to fight for women's rights are actually supporting the same abuse women are suffering from Taliban-ruled Islamic societies to continue in this society. Furthermore, these Muslim veiled women who only amount to a few in numbers, all the more feel their segregation from the rest. These women are the pin-up women from the women's rights' slogan from pre-historic times: those suffering in silence; those who are isolated. those who are trapped. But then what's so surprising that radical feminists supporters would choose to turn a blind eye over this. As I've always believed, and been proven on numerous count....most of today's feminists are not really for equality and protection of women's rights. It's all just a hypocritical posturing. Or worse, these pseudo-feminists do not fully understand what they're supposed to be fighting for. OR, perhaps they're not really into feminism at all....but just conveniently uses these Muslim women and feminism to further a different ideology. Or probably like the idea of fundamentalism. Who knows... THIS kind of hypocrisy is what's the "rage" today.....the new "fashion" (to borrow a poster's remark).
  2. I wouldn't be too sure of that, if I were you. Being "over-run," that is. With all three political parties all agreeing on the same thing could only mean one sure thing: public approval is quite certain.
  3. It was just a suggestion anyway. On second thought, I think doing it your way is way better. I could just picture it now....these three cool chicks with bra on their faces, waving their ballots.... among other things. Of course I assume you go topless too! Wouldn't hurt if you do your gigs on a train track. More symbolism in one go! You guys will surely be hot on tv! We'll just have to figure out who's Jennie, Kuzadd and Buffy!
  4. When that happens, do we have any choice...without going into war?
  5. As a Conservative I've even a better suggestion: Wear your bras AND boycott the polls! Refuse to vote at all! Since chances are, all of you are either Liberals or NDP anyway!
  6. What's understanding got to do with it? If the law says SHOW YOUR FACE , then like everyone else, you've got to show your face. Whether the reason behind the veil is religious, piety, fear of getting rape or hiding multitudes of acne....show your face if you want to vote. If not, then don't vote! Nobody's pointing a gun to their heads.
  7. Perhaps the solution would be for these devout veil-enthusiast women to vote by mail. Actually, voting through mail should be re-visited just so to prevent the possible corruption of our voting system. And really, the electoral law should be changed so everyone is treated equally....with no preferential treatment being given to anyone, including minorities due to religious or cultural beliefs.
  8. Hmmmm....majority.... Out of curiousity....approximately how many veil-wearing women are we talking about here?
  9. Ha-ha! Nice to see you got a sense of humor. But seriously. If the Muslims did not request any special privilege over this, and Muslim women says it's no big deal lifting their veil....then why is this made into a big deal, considering that all political parties have agreed about this. Obviously, there is a need for it....since when did all the parties agree on practically anything? I'd say the "shit-stirrer" would be the one who first raised the head of "bigotry"....or hate-for-Muslims card...etc..! This is the thing, you see. There are those who'd latch on to anything just so they can bring up the racist card! They'd want you to believe that peace and harmony is what they want for all of us....and yet they are the ones who keep fanning the flames of discord and unrest. They are the hypocrites. And yeah, they don't only double-speak....but they are also double-faced.
  10. Perhaps it's time you face the mirror and honestly do a self-analysis. Imo, MikeDavid is the last person I'd call a hypocrite! He is one of the most brutally-frank poster on this board regarding immigration. To the point that he's labelled as racist for so many of his contentious, controversial and gut-hitting posts. As I've asked in the previous post, how is pointing out the races or religions of friends considered "hypocritical?" There are differences among races, religion and cultures...and that's obvious. How could we begin to accept one another if we do not acknowledge and understand about the differences that we have? That is for MikeDavid to answer. But what I'm questioning about is your own prejudices. Towards the "white" folks. Do you truly understand where the root of yours lie?
  11. Well if it's not a a big deal to Muslim women since they're used to lifting their veil, why is this being turned into a big deal by you guys? And why has the racist card miraculously turned up over this not-so-big-a-deal? So who's being the real "shit-stirrer" in this scenario....aside from the EC?
  12. Perhaps you should try wearing a balaclava or a mask next time you vote. Let us know what happens.
  13. Eh? How is he a hypocrite just for pointing out the different races and religions of his friends? So he noticed his friends are of different race/religon...what is wrong with that? Are races and religions something to be ashamed of? Do you think visible minorities feel so inferior about themselves that they would like to pretend or forget that they have a different color of skin...or that they came from other cultures or practice other religions? By "colour-blind" you mean just ignore our color....because you think by acknowledging our race, it would be shameful for us?
  14. Have you tried going to a bank and try to get cash out of your credit card? If you don't have a bank card in that particular bank....they want a photo i.d! SIN and brith certifcate can be faked or stolen!
  15. There is nothing wrong with helping unfortunate people. How can we even call it fairness if we only concentrate on helping children? However, no matter how we try, some things are simply beyond our control. What makes the un-fairness most pronounced I think is the way we judge what success and accomplishment means by today's standards. Nowadays you are nowhere being considered a success unless you have a big house with a car and your children each have a cellular phone. And that is just the very minimum requirement. The climb is quite steep for a lot of people. It is quite easy to see one's self as a failure if we do not meet the standards.
  16. I guess it's more convenient for you to assume all these muslim women had made their choice without any coercion or fear at all. Close your eyes and repeat your own mantra....then voila, it is just as you said. Okay Champion of Human Rights, what about those Muslim Women in Canada who came forward to speak about the threats of violence they've received should they insist on following the western way of life? What about those who are afraid to speak out? You make negligent claims just so to make up the facts that would fit your argument. AT THE EXPENSE OF THESE WOMEN. So? Are you now suggesting women are not human?
  17. I understand what you mean. I agree. But I must comment on the self-righteous attitude that emanate from a couple of posters here that borders on the obnoxious. Like as if they truly have the expertise and authority on the matter....that their stamp of approval is needed thereby so Mike passes the un-prejudice test with flying colors! The pretentious shallowness is quite nauseating!
  18. And those that were born missing a limb, or not that mentally bright enough. When they do assessments of your child in school to tell you whether it's worth your while to send your kid to university...or don't bother. Then, there are those errors in judgement (whether done immaturely or in later years, it doesn't matter)....the stroke of luck...or the cruelty of fate that suddenly turns a healthy boy into a paraplegic, handicapped, psychologically troubled, a single parent with 4 children ...etc. Perhaps the modern age, the enlightened society along with technology will propose to change all that to make life much more fair for everyone. We start with the unborn. We create the designer kids. We just snuff those mistakes who don't make the grade. Then we can euthanize those who struggles and "suffers". Etc..., We can all look beautiful.
  19. No. But that's reality. We're not born equal...so right from the start, life is unfair. So instead of wasting our energies whining and wallowing in self-pity that usually leads to bitterness.... perhaps we just have to make the most of what we have and try to reach as far as we can.
  20. For all your insistence to turn this discussion into a women's rights group....then why the hell do you support the abuse of Muslim Women? Furthermore, you support the continuation of this abuse right here in a democratic society that offers them the EXCUSE TO SHED OFF THE SYMBOL OF THE SHACKLE THAT BINDS THEM, helping them do so without the feelings of guilt that may come with it! That veil coming off is a big step towards freedom! Even for only a few minutes. You don't seem to get that. YOU of all people, since you seem to be one of the champions of women, ought to be fighting tooth and nail, for ANYTHING that will help these women to free themselves! Get real! You are one very confused female! Bloody hell....all co-called champions of women's rights that I get tangled with seems all the same! They know not what they spout about! This infuriates me since they only bring all that pre-historic label of women back to the fore: that women 's opinions shouldn't be taken seriously!
  21. I would like to call them simply "women" - this group that had fought for the rights of women to vote - not a "special interest group." Don't you see the contradiction in that? Here we are women wanting to be equals of men. And yet you lump us all to this "special interest group." Why, do men call themselves "special interest group?" My idealogy may be pre-historic to you....but I find yours ludicrous! It's laughable! I'd rather be pre-historic, thank you....than contribute to the gross stereotyping of women - that we are all air-heads! If you as a woman see yourself the equal of man....then you do not belong to any special interest group! Gee...you make us sound like some sort of a hobby! You belong in your own right - a woman. An equal of man! Well, these Muslim women better decide which is more important - their vote or their veil! Women's group should rally these Muslim women to say "up yours!" to their men who refuse to have them remove their veils....go out and vote without their veils! There, I've fitted your precious women's group into the discussion. Anyway...if you want to pursue this discussion, kindly create another thread for it.
  22. Speak for yourself! As a woman I don't see myself as a "special interest group!" I am a person! Exactly the same as that of a man! And most of these so-called women's group do not represent nor do they speak for me! BTW, your FN women did not fare much better than a chattel....until recently. And that's thanks to this current government! Anyway, let's get back to the topic.
  23. Not on this case. Justice my foot.
  24. It's the principle! You modify or tamper with a law to accomodate one....you end up with a screwed up system, eventually! As I say, we are a mulit-cultural society! We have to have one law for EVERYONE!
