  1. You better read the whole OP. And, try to understand it. Anyway..... What does "suck it up" means? Accepting hardship, or a difficult situation you cannot change. Really? You say it's unChristian? Only an ignorant would think that. Ever heard of the Serenity Prayer? https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/prayer/prayers/serenity-prayer-applying-3-truths-from-the-bible.html
  2. Even if a disabled person hasn't been able to contribute - would you say he has lost his dignity?
  3. Can you please expand on that. I suppose it depends on the individual. His frame of mind. Like I said, some folks who are fully dependent on others for their basic needs, still try to make the best of it. Some can even still contribute to society.
  4. It doesn't always have to be about religious belief, you know. Unless someone who isn't religious, is subconsciously concerned about spirituality........to want to live, is a natural instinct, is it not? Even among animals.
  5. Why are you making this personal? Why do you resort to personal attacks?
  6. That is an honest answer. I think it's one of the worst fears to be maimed so badly - I think of quadruplegics, or those who are paralyzed from the neck down. Not everyone want to commit suicide despite the condition they're in. Don't they have any dignity anymore? I think so highly of them - especially the ones who still try to make the best of it. They're an inspiration! If someone in their situation could still soldier on..... I think......the term dignity is being mis-used. It implies that those who can no longer care for their basic needs, had lost their dignity. They hadn't. Euthanasia should be described exactly what it is: mercy killing.
  7. Here is the story. https://www.cnn.com/2017/07/28/health/charlie-gard-death/index.html Imagine the frustration and angst of the parents who were racing against time. Diagnosis aren't always true. I knew someone whose unborn child was diagnosed with Down's, and they were trying to convince the mom to abort. She refused. The child was born.....healthy! No Down's syndrome (and she's been her mom's pride and joy). She was a single mom who didn't have enough education (we helped her collect the wages that was owed her by her employer).
  8. It wasn't about faith! The child was dying. The parents wanted to try an experimental drug to be done in the USA. The UK doctors were just going to let him die! Who gives them the power to decide the boy should just die?
  9. We hear this all too often: Dignity in dying. Dying with dignity. My issue is with the term, "dignity." Here are the definitions of dignity (Merriam): 1 : formal reserve or seriousness of manner, appearance, or language 2 : the quality or state of being worthy, honored, or esteemed Are we saying a person loses his dignity when he gets ill, or maimed? He loses his worth? He's no longer esteemed? When I think of dying with dignity - I think of someone bravely, or trying to be courageous in facing the inevitable. A cold medicine ad on tv sums it up: "SUCK IT UP." What do you think? Can someone please explain about the dignity-part in death.
  10. Dying is the consequence of the other option - rejecting God. I didn't merely explain it, I gave you an analogy! Picture this: You're drowning, Diahlamah. I'm on a boat and had extended my hand to you, and it went like this: betsy: Diahlamah, do you want to live? Diahlamah: YESSSSS! <gulp> <splash> betsy: Are you sure? Diahlamah: <splash> <gulp> OF COURSE I'M SURE! betsy: Here - take my hand! I'll pull you out of the water! <saw something in the distance> UH-OH. Diahlamah: <gulp> Did you wash your hand? Is it clean? <splash> betsy: JUST TAKE IT! An alligator is coming! Diahlamah: <gulp> <gulp> You didn't answer my question! Betsy: <lifts up and shows Diahlamah a huge print-out of an eye-roll emoji> Stop being silly! IF YOU WANT TO LIVE, TAKE MY HAND! IF YOU DON'T TAKE IT, YOU'LL SURELY DIE! There. See your choices: take my hand or not, and the consequences - living and dying? Simple enough?
  11. Which proves the point that a non-believer is the last person you'd want to argue with about faith. He doesn't care about the Scriptures, nor believe about faith. But, a Christian - like the bakers in this topic - would be. Don't forget, these Christians are being persecuted for believing in what the Bible says about homosexuality.
  12. If that's your question, of course it is a choice. But that's not your question, is it? Here's your post. You asked: It's not that I didn't want to respond. It's not the question you asked. Just because you threw in the term "chose," doesn't make your question anywhere near like what you're asking me now.
  13. Therefore, the law, is one who's got control whether you should live, or die. Look what happened to a boy in UK - and I don't think that's about euthanasia either. His parents fought it out in court. They want to give him the chance to live. It's simply the systems wouldn't allow the parents to take the boy outside the country for treatment! Who's in control? That's what I'm saying when I responded to the post of another poster who imagine he's got control over his death. It's just an idea. To have a say whether you want to end it, and how. Dying with dignity. An idea that seems ideal - but it's not reality. Heck, a minor can't even refuse treatment (if he's terminally ill), and be left to die with dignity - IN HIS FAITH! If it's about faith - forget it. They don't see the dignity in dying, wrapped in one's faith. We live in a world with shallow values, where-in common sense seems to not exist anymore. What does the law really knows about something that's psychological in a person? Whether the person is truly wanting to die, or simply have been "led" to that idea by others? We have laws against murder and rape - does the law stop them from being committed? Would you agree that women who have post-partum blues should be able to access assisted suicide? Depression is also a painful thing to go through, though it's not readily visible to the naked eye. What about addicts who are forever trying to fight addiction, but always losing? Should we allow them to have access to assisted suicide....just to end it all? Who's more relieved in the end? Who benefit the most? The one who committed suicide.....or the ones who don't have to put up with him anymore?
  14. What's that got to do with this? I can't judge Christians who'd been overcome by fear - fear is a human emotion. Out of fear, didn't Peter deny Christ 3 times? Did Jesus hold that against him? We'll all face God and give our account. How exactly Christians will be judged, only God knows.
  15. Read my post again.....I added. God gave a choice. Live, or die. Just because you don't like the consequence doesn't mean you're not given a choice. Here's another choice to make: which do you prefer.......worldly life on earth, or eternal life after death?
  16. You're given a choice: Either you choose life, or death. Death is the consequence of rejecting God! Practically everything in life comes with choices. You can choose whether you want to eat or not, sleep or not, have sex or not. And every choice practically has a consequence! Heck, positive discipline involves giving your child a choice too, like....."if you want to watch cartoons, you have to clean up your toys." "Put away your toys and then you can watch cartoons." As an analogy, are you saying we don't have free will in our society? Can't you make any choice as to what you'll have for supper tonight, or if you want to go to the theatre instead of watching tv? In our society, if you choose to rape or murder, or do any crime.......you'll face the consequence. Death might even be the punishment if you're in certain states in the USA. Because you're punished if you break the law - to you, that means we don't have free will! We have free will, Diahlamah - but not in everything. If we don't have free will, we'll just all believe in God. You won't have any choice....not even to contemplate atheism! There wouldn't be any atheism at all. That term wouldn't exist....because we'll all be created believers! That's what it'll be like if we have no free will!
  17. On top of that......we got crazy weather all over the world! And earthquakes, and illnesses and superbugs. We got drought and famine.....and of course, all these senseless killings. They say it's just a matter of time when the global economy will really tumble down. No, this isn't a prophecy. It could be a wake-up call.
  18. Will you give yourself a head shake and check the option that you stated above. Can't see it? If God will do what He wants with you, why the "OR?" If you've got no choice - if God will do whatever He wants with you - what's the punishment for? Yes, you got it. Got it wrong. As usual. I'm not even going to bother explaining things to you. Waste of mah time. Believe what you want.
  19. Of course there is free will. But if God had something planned for you - then His will, will be done.
  20. "IMAGINED" choice. The IDEA of having control over one's life through "assisted-suicide," is being romanticized by the left. In oppressive societies (or SOCIALIST-leaning societies who will no longer afford to give UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE in the near future for everyone) - it could become a way of culling the population. Do we really want people who can no longer contribute to the system, to live longer? There's no real choice if one feels a psychological pressure, or is depressed enough. It'll be relatives.....and doctors......and insurance companies.....and most likely the government .......who'll end up deciding what's the best "choice" for you.
