Outside of the foyer in the house of commons, prominent MP's such as: jason kenney, max baird, and diane finley said they "missed the days when the Alliance had the momentum in house". CBC: http://www.cbc.ca/newstory/houseofcommons/541//["1234//oct2706] I think I get what their saying. In the old days under Manning, possibly even Stockwell- the Alliance (reform) seemed to cause the big stirs in the house. now its the Liberals "shaking" things up. They jump in standing ovation alot (like the alliance did) And the Tories seem to laugh alot.

Spring Election just months away...
SamStranger replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
lol!!! I laughed my ass off after I read that. -
Theirs only two things that scare me about the next election. 1) The Liberals will form a weak minority government , and we'll have another election in a year. 2) The BLOC will win 50% + 1 and call a referendum. Now the Tories are in a bad spot. In the last election, all the heat was against the Liberals for all their corruption- so the momentum swung from the Grits to the the Conservatives. This election, with a new leader, the Liberals are gonna try to say "we learned our lesson, we cleaned up, we got a new leader- give us back the government". The NDP is gonna say "the tories cut womens programs and literacy, and contined to subsidize the big oil companies...blah, blah". The BLoc is gonna say "The tories promised to fix the fiscal inbalance but they didnt. They scrapped Kyoto..." So right now it seems the Opposition have a slight upperhand in the next election. But then Stephen Harper can say this: "We cut the GST like we promised, we gave families $100 a month like we promised. We gave $40 billion dollars more in health care to reduce wait times, we tried to pass tougher crime bills but the opposition stopped us. We tried to pass the Accountability act but the Liberal Senate slowed it down". Polls show it could go either way between the Tories and Liberals. Which way do you think it will go?

The NDP are the New Left Wing Liberals
SamStranger replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's not just your seat count I lack faith in - it's also your political judgment. The Liberal Party is not about to disappear anytime soon. It will either form the government or the official opposition after the next federal election. hahahhaa- Whats makes you so god-damn sure? Check out this link http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...me=&no_ads= Just the fact that the Liberals are even mentioning the NDP shows their fear. At their Leadership Convention, they spoke on the NDP many times- because they know that the NDP will beat them. Also, the NDP stole 905,000 votes from the Liberals in the last election. -

I agree that the NDP will NEVER, EVER, EVER get a seat in Alberta- but thats not to say that they wont be the official opposition, cause they will... Where are they to get seats? Honestly, I think they could pick up a few in Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario- not to mentino their strong holds in Manitoba. Dont get me wrong. I am not a New Democrat AT ALL- I am a Tory- but I would rather have an NDP opposition that has policy ideas, then a Liberal Opposition that votes down everything but has no alternative to present to Canadians. -

Prediction: In the next General Election the NDP will be the Official Opposition. Seat Breakdown: Conservative: 157 (MAJORITY) NDP: 60 Liberal: 39 Bloc: 50 Green Party: 1 Independant: 1 Now, don't put much faith into my seat count- it adds up to 308 but its not that realistic (yes I admit ) I have a strong sense that the Left Leaning voters in this country are slowly turning away from the Liberals. Now, recent polls are showing the same old thing- Tories and Grits virtually tied- I don't buy that for a second. Ordinary everyday Canadians, who arent interested in politics, are supporting the government right now. Why wouldnt they? Their cuting taxes, giving handouts to familys, cracking on crims, reducing wait times, and brining honesty to government. Now, the Liberals would have you believe their gonna win the next election. Theirs one catch Mr. Ignatieff (Liberal Leader in 2 months), you have to beat Stephen Harper (who has the support of Canadians) and Mr. Layton- who the Lefties are turning too. Ive been watching all the Liberal Leadership Debates, and one thing that struck me is that they talk alot about the NDP. They are scared of the NDP. The NDP is the perfect alternative to the Liberals, and would make a damn good opposition. What do the Liberals do in opposition??? NOTHING. They just rant and rave about how good they were for 13 years, and won't acknowledge the fact that they only won 3 Majority's from 93' to 2000 because their was no party that could take Government. Lets be honest, I dont think many people wanted Preston Manning or Ed Broadbent to be prime Minister Now, the NDP has clear prioritys and clear oppostion to the tories, even though right now they are techinically the "4th party" in the house, with no leverage of power at all. The Liberals have turned into a party that just seeks power. They dont care about policy. They have no policy. They just want Canada to be "theirs"- even though our founding Prime Minister was a proud Conservative, who used strict Ideologys to rule his government. Now, the NDP in government is a scary thought. My only fear to the NDP being the official opposition, is that they may one day (down the road... 2050??) take power. Im scared for that generation. Don't get me started on what the NDP would do to our finanaces. Example from their last campaign: Increase Social Program spending by 15% in the first year, and 60% by the fourth year. Man that gives me chills.... Anyways, I still stand by my notion for a Harper Majority and an NDP official opposition.

Its so Ironic that the NDP used this poll against the Conservatives on Mike Duffy Live saying "it shows how out of touch the Conservatives are with women"... now, the Tories have 28% in this poll and the NDP has 11%.... 11%... How dare the NDP say Tories are out of touch with women when they only have 11%!!! Fools.

Brampton-Springdale MP Ruby Dhalla Raccist!
SamStranger posted a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Me and some friends were pickiting outside Rubby Dhalla's office in Brampton with signs that read "No more Dhalla- Liberal Liar". Her personal secretary came out and said "Rubby wants you to stop this protest. She was democratically voted in (blah blah blah) mabye if you werent white she would talk to you face-to-face"... Not my words... -
Im new too this whole conspiracy of the Illuminati ect. so can you eleborate why this anonomys writer was wrong?
-
Hey everyone. I found this on the web- it's from an Annonomys writer- it's quite interesting to read. I don't believe ALL of it but I do beieve MOST of it. "TRUTH OF THE WORLD: There is a secret cult of devil worshippers called “Alumina” or “Illuminati” who’s goal is to have a new world order in the name of the devil. The Illuminati is linked to the Skull and Bones, Stone Masons, and Quakers. The origin of the Illuminati comes from the “Knights Templar”. The oath of the Illuminati was ordained by the devil himself in the 1800’s under the pen of a 19th century occultist. In the words of President George W. Bush himself, in his 2002 autobiography he says: “In my second year of college I joined the Skull and Bones, which is a secret society- so secret I can’t even talk about. My father and his father before him were also members”. Democratic Presidential Candidate John Kerry is also a member of the Skull and Bones. The attacks on 9/11 were carried out by Muslim radicals- but, the planning of the attacks was done by the Skull and Bones, with the support of the Illuminati. It is quite possible that the orders came from President Bush himself- as on September 11th 1991, he gave a speech at a Republican Fundraiser ending with: “We need a new World order”. The Republican Party of America and the Labor Party of Britain are connected closely with the Illuminati. It is rumored that if John Kerry was elected as the Democratic President, he would have been the first Democrat elected that was a member of the Skull and Bones. The war in Iraq is a training ground for future wars against Russia. Russia will rebuild its soviet Empire (as predicted in the New Testament book of Revelations) and the Illuminati will try it’s best to cripple them. Russia is not connected to the Illuminati. Radical Islam is very real. Muhammad, who was a prophet of the Devil, is using his evil words in the Quran to spread hate for Christians and Jews around the world. The goal of Radical Islam is to have the whole world Islamic and claim it for Allah. The goal of the Illuminati is to destroy the Catholic church, and claim the world of the Devil. These two goals are both one and the same. The Illuminati shares the Anti-Semitic views of Islam- though most of the Elite members of the Skull and Bones are Jewish, they are forced to denounce their religion and take on the oath of the devil. Common figures of the Skull and Bones (Bush, Kerry, Oprah, Tony Blair, Bill gates, the Queen) appear to be God fearing Christians, but sadly this is not the case… when the Oath of the Illuminati was sworn in blood, they chose Christianity to be the smokescreen of their true religion-devil worship. There is a secret cult of Armageddonists who’s goal is to bring the end of the world as soon as possible. Working with the devil, they are planning wars and rumors of wars to bring upon us the end. Radical Islam is in the forefront of this cult, but leaders of the Stone Masons Cult are rumored to be very involved with their plans. May God’s judgment be swift… Christ be with you… THE END…?" Yeah, very though provoking eh? The world is a scary place, anyways, you believe this stuff?

Exscuse me...!!! Just because Stephen is right-winged that makes him a robot...??? Technically, it's the left wing ideology that turns everyone into robots. The Liberal way of thinking is "everyone and everything"... if polygomy and insest was ever legalized, you can bet your ass it would be a Liberal or NDP government... If a serial killer gets 5 years for murder of 5, you can bet your ass it was a Liberal government at the time. If a poor child is kidnapped and raped, only to have her attacker get 8 months probation- you can goddamn bet it was a Liberal or NDP government. Whats better?? A Morally driven Robot, that shares the values of decent normal Canadians- Stephen Harper (as you call him) or an evil heartless "human"- Bob Rae (Liberal...wait isnt he NDP...oh wait, hes a Liberal now- after spending 20 years fighting against Liberals- talk about accountability )

We Must Protect ALL Minorities
SamStranger replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I love the answer that Kenney (Parlimentary Secretary to the prime minister) gives when Liberals try to paint the Conservatives as "mean spirited" and that they don't hold Canadian values. He replied "The Liberal party thinks they hold a monopoly on Canadian values- well Mr.Speaker they don't. Canadians share Conservative values aswell, and lets not forget what Conservatives have done. We brought in the Bill of Rights, we voted against the Chinese Head Tax, and against torture when the Liberals were supporting it". The Liberals are in denial of their history. They introduced some of the most raccist ("White Canada Forever" Campaign) and descriminatory things in Canadian history, but ovcourse they will deny it because Trudea "made all things clean" as paul martin once said. -
Today (Thursday, October 5th) during question period- MP Belinda Stronach stood up and said a very bold, and offence thing: " The prime minister needs to stop caterting to his social conservative base and start doing what the MAJORITY of Canadians want him to do- by not opening the same-sex marriage debate" (My words, not 100% accurate) How can you protect the rights of Gays and lesbians, but not the rights of people who appose their way of life? How can you protect certain Minoritys but not other Minoritys?? Belinda must be muzzled, and kicked out of parliment. This recent remark is almost as bad as her remark on women: "Women who DO NOT support Abortion and SSM ARE NOT Real Women, and should not get support for their kids"... is this the kind of fillth the Liberals support?? The Liberals are the so called "champions of minoritys" but they are putting down Social Conservatives everywhere- includig Albertans who voted in all Conservatives in the last election, and gave the tories 70% of the Popular vote. Do the Liberals and Belinda speak for all canadians?? They certaintly don't speak for Albertans- who the majority are social conservatives. Mabye they speak for the socialists in quebec, they should merger with the Bloc I am sick of being put down for my political views as a Social Conservative. Am I not entitled to my opinion?? Do I not need my rights protected!??? The Alliance was open with their Social Conservative views, and I think this new Conservative government should be too. I their should be a referendum on Same-Sex Marriage, so real canadians can have their voices heard- so theirs no more question if Canadians support it or not, because right now it is unclear.

Here are 2 things man has been pondering since confederation. What is Left wing? What is Right wing? Now... here is a new question I think we all should ask ourselves... what is being Progressive? Really..think about it. For years the term "Progressive" has only been affiliated with the Left wing ideology. For example: The PC party is usualy looked at as being Progressive and Left wing, a.k.a "Red Tories". And the modern Conservative party is more social Conservative- but are they Progressive?? My answer is: Yes. A Progressive idea (i believe) can come from the right or the left. A progressive value doesnt have to be Support Abortion ( as the Liberals would have us believe). It is actually just as Progressive to say Limit Abortion to certain situations-only the extremes. Is it Progressive to allow women to sleep around and have 6 abortions in a span of 3 years? (Globe and Mail article). Or is it Progressive to give doctors the power to dictate what should be done in the case of a rape, or insest? Another issue is Same-Sex Marriage. (Most) Liberals would have you believe that allowing SSM is Progressive... but, is it not also Progressive to ban it, since it has been illegal for 6 thousand years- and instead of disregarding a sacred institution God put in place for Man and Woman, lets keep is sacred and keep it the same- Progressive or not? Another issue is Taxes. The most Progressive thing a government can do is lower our taxes to illiminate our burden in day to day life. A De-Progressive burden is raising taxes- therefore the NDP is De-Progressive, not Progressive (im looking at you Ed Broadbent ) For instance. The Tories brought in the GST- very, very de-progressive. Election 1993, Liberals promise to scrap the GST- very progressive. The Liberals didnt follow through... very De-Progressive (Actually pathetic aswell ) I didn't want to turn this into a bias Conservative vs. Liberal/NDP topic, but I wanted to give you examples. Alrighty, lets have a good discussion here! What are your ideas on what is Progressive and what is not?
-
You made some great points their, and im glad were having a civil discussion on this. But... do you honestly think that the NDP (if were in gonvernment in 1993) would have scrapped the GST like the Liberal promised to do..?? I doubt it. Another thing. I agree that the Liberals have changed a bit since 1993 until now, BUT... remember- the GST was passed into law in 1990, so between 1990- and the election in 1993 it was under 3 years, so they had enough time to decide if they were against the GST (as they were in opposition) or for it. They obviously chose the popular route of going against it, but never followed threw. And now in 2006 they are for it, and the Tories are against it (even though they introduced it). Crazy country we live in eh?
-
This topic was about the GST, and only one person commented on it... "Am I missing something?" - (This should become the quote of the board )
-
Going through some archive videos on CBC's website I came across some history that I forgot. In 1990 Brian Mulrooney was fighting hard to get the GST through the senate- the Liberal dominated Senators were threatening to kill the bill if it got through final reading in the commons and made it to the senate- so Mulrooney got concent from the queen to add 8 PC senators to the senate to make sure the bill got through. Now-- I never forgot about that (im just filing in anyone who cant remember) The vote for 3rd reading came down to 144 yeahs to 114 nays. All Liberal and NDP mp's who voted voted NAY (including 2 PC mp's who got kicked out of the governement for voting against them) During question periods leading up to the vote, all the NDP and Liberal questions were about the GST, and why they are AGAINST IT. They would go crazy in opposition to the GST... Lets fast forward to 2006: Budget 2006 of the Conservative Governement to cut the GST from 7% to 6%. Who votes for it? The governement and the Bloc. Who opposes it?? THE LIBERALS AND NDP!!! If that cant be considered hypocracy then what the hell is?? Gilles Duceppe said it best "The PC bring in the GST and the Liberals cried and screamed. Now the tories want to lower it and the Liberals cry and scream. Am i missing something?" I will never understand how in a period of 13 years you go from wanting to Kill the tax, to appose lowering it?? As Gilles Duceppe said: "Am I missing something"??
-
It would take all day to name all the "flip flops" the Liberals are going through now that their in opposition, but the one that really pisses me off is Afghanistan. For God's sake, it was the Liberals who sent us their! And they have the nerve to act like their all "anti-war". It makes me sick. The Liberal party is supposed to represent unity and togetherness (So ive heard ) but they can't even make up their minds as a party when it came to voting. And what the hell is Micheal Ignattief doing going for Liberal leadership!?? He's more Tory then most of the Conservatives! Ever read his collums he wrote for the NewYork Times after Septmber 11th and the iraq invasion? He was praising george Bush to death. I don't get it. Are Liberals Arrogant or just Stupid?
-
I think the scariest thing about an NDP governement would be the drastic changes. From tax policy to foreign policy, everything would be changed (for the worst )
-
Are the NDP ready to govern Canada? My answer is short and simple- NO. Why? Many reasons. First off, far left social democrats have proven to be disasters in power. You cant have a socialist party in charge, its like giving Hitler the Tora to "take care of". Reason 2, their foreign policy. The last thing we need is to make enemies with Big Brother America, who is taking care of us at the moment- if we were attacked whos gonna help us? His view on Afghanistan- I quote: "We need to look for peace through negotiations with all sides including the taliban"- CPAC RESPONDS: "SO we should negotiate with terrorists?" JACK LAYTON ANSWERS: "I didn't say that".... So the Taliban are not terrorists? Al quadea are freedome fighters u say??? Bull!!!! I would rather see a (God forgive me) Liberal majority then an NDP minority! Obviously im a Tory (U all know by now ) so I would like to give Stephen Harper a majority. What do you guys think about the NDP running Canada?
-
Actually no... I was suspended for over a month, and this is my only name on here.
-
I dont agree with you at all. I made a provacative statement "Liberals are ignorant because they follow the party no matter how much corruption their is". That is a true statement. Statiting Raccist comments should not be allowed. If i was black i would be freaking out.
