I think that non voters are really voting for despotism. In despotism, someone will be taxing you and you will get nothing in return. If you live in a democracy then your responsibility is to vote. I don't think anyone can say the party they vote for perfectly suits their moral beliefs or is ideal for them economically.

Although the liberals say that the GST tax cut is favouring the rich people, if you take a course in economics one major thing that you learn is that a consumption based tax favours the rich. Most ordinary people consume all of what they earn or get and therefore pay GST on nearly everything like transportation & housing. When your landlord pays GST then you do too although not directly. Cutting the GST will save middle class and poor people lots of money but the rich invest most of their income and therefore pay a proportionally lower GST. Goodale and other libs say things like this about the GST, not because they are true but because its part of the liberal spin. The libs are not really socialist types if you watch what they do. On the other hand if you listen to them enough you may become convinced that they are socialistic types. In fact they are authoritarians with a leaning toward the elites in this country. Think about our limited access to information and the fact that the libs let the supreme court literally take away the rights of people with siblings as lawyers (thousands of us in Ontario) as a matter of nothing more than professional convenience for lawyers. Lawyers may now freely screw their siblings out of the parents inheritances using tools such as blackmail, extortion, etc. No complaints can be made anywhere. What about their promises ? - its been a long time since I first heard the stuff on child care. Actions speak louder than words and hopefully liberal actions will lead us to an honest open governement in this election. When Harris cut welfare the libs were up in arms about it. Funny how we have a liberal government in Ontario yet I haven't read anything about big sweeping increases to welfare. What about the GST ? - I mean the libs just went crazy when Mulroney introduced it. The libs have been in power for almost 12 years. How come we still have it. Are the liberals really the authoritarian party of the elite masquerading as kind socialists ? Whats going on in Haiti ? - why can't we see what our wonderful kind left wing government is doing in Haiti ? In Iraq, were we not watching the backs of the US while they went in ? Isn't that the same thing as refusiung to help your buddy rob a store but agreeing to be his lookout ? I'm a left wing socialist myself. I'm just sick of all the lies. And I'm sick of the fact that the RCMP is always investigating them. Money just dissapears all the time with these guys. I'd vote for my local NDP canidate but he is a lawyer and no lawyer in this country will ever get my vote. I think Stephen Harper is honest and will clean up government so the next liberals that get in there will not be able to operate as usual.

The matter has been resolved outside the legal profession. Whether she screws me in the end is another matter - history tells me that she will. We come from a very strange family and have been enemies since we were little kids. The fact that lawyers can go around screwing their siblings out of their parents will is something Goldhawk can never do anything about. I am angry about the supreme court and the fact that the Law Society ignores crimes committed by lawyers. This is the Supreme Court of Canada 800 years after the Magna Carta. Add this to the fact that a bunch of high school students were paraded into a court room for the same kind of bullying a few weeks back on the news. Lawyer jokes in a way let lawyers get away with murder - people just thing "Ahh Lawyers we all know they suck". The fact is it isn't the lawyers its the profession and its the hubris of the supreme court in this case. They just wanted the law society to do the easy thing and not the right thing because it would save members ten or twenty bucks a year on their memebership. Non lawyers are just specks to them.

Also, When I reported this to the law society they told me I was just jealous. This is the level of arrogance - you report a lawyer in your family it must be the result of jealousy. Well, I never took a philosophy course and I never wrote the LSAT. I have never had aspirations of being a lawyer although I do find the whole aspect of courts quite interesting. You see I could sue but experiencing the abuses associated with that would make me a lot angrier than I am now.

My point was never to get a lawyer to sue her. I need 80,000.00 up front before I can sue her and the court case would take 10 years before she ever saw the inside of a court room. I was told this by two independent lawyers- same figure - same time frame. THE SUPREME COURT HAS TAKEN AWAY THE RIGHTS OF SIBLINGS TO EVEN REPORT INCIDENCES LIKE THIS TO THE LAW SOCIETY !!!!! THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE PLACE IN ONTARIO. I have met others that this has happened to. My point is that these people are so arrogant that they took our rights away - as a matter of convience because of the bubble of population & the baby boomers getting large amounts of moneys from parents dying. Its just that the law society feels that its too much trouble for them to deal with. Crimes were committed. My only possibility of getting anything is to sue. This is not right. Do you think I am going to try and sue a lawyer from McCarthy Tetrault ? McCarthy Tertault is not a typical law firm. They will do every single imaginable dirty trick to keep you from even getting a case into a court room. Personal injury suits in Ontario can take 10 - 20 years . McCarthy Tetrault has actually filled semi detached trucks full of irrelevant paperwork and dropped it of at the complainants lawyer to literally make the complainant go broke before they even get their day in court. They block these cases with junk court orders. This is all common knowledge in Ontario. I've talked with lawyers there - they know they are crooks. To work for McCarthy Tetrault you have to set your conscience aside and know you are doing wrong and not care. These people are hated by the other lawyers in Toronto. I am 41 years old. I would be ready to retire before I got the settlement from her. Its not about suing her its about exposing the terrible corruption that goes on here. To even get paper from the law society saying that I made this complaint I just had to keep bugging them. I went to the police to obtain a police report and they said go to the law society. The law society tells me the supreme court says they are not permitted to do anything. The law society of upper canada does not report suspected criminal activitoes of lawyers - its their POLICY. The police refer you to the law society if you want to report a crime against you committed by a lawyer. FTA, if you have any buddies in Ontario ask them about McCarthy Tetrault. Many lawyers here know what they are like and they are widely hated by other lawyers. I have talked to their lawyers socially and they not only admit it but are quite proud of what they get away with. When I talked to other lawyers and they found out she worked for McCarthy Tetrault the tone of the conversatiuon changed - they are afraid of MCCarthy Terault. There are two kinds of lawyers in Ontario - those that work for the big firms and those that are more honest like FTA.

FTA, You are the first lawyer to give a crap about my situation. For that you are noble and distinguished among your profession. But it doesn't stop me from arguing my point.

FTA, You may be one of the good guys, there are plenty of those too but if you look down your list supplied by your link you see that many cases of outright fraud are listed. These are similar to the ones at the Law Society of Upper Canada. (I'm in Toronto) You can call me and you can easily find out who I am but I wonder what you could say. My point is that the only punishement was the right to charge people rediculous fees was taken away - no criminal convictions listed. Thats when the law society bothers to do something - ie easy cases. Physicians and other equally educated professions who take on a far greater degree of responsibility, work nights and in dangerous situations (think SARS and any other infectious disease) and deal with life & death never have the right to charge what lawyers charged in the first place. Its lawyers that insist they are noble & distinguished and they are definetly above the law. If any one of us non lawyers pulled stunts like that we would wind up with criminal records and lose our much lower paying jobs permanently. In addition to that the right to travel to the USA & many other places + be restricted from ever finding responsible work. Even a city with 88000 people & only 8 cops may have some in jail, but I still wouldn't want to walk around at night in one. Certainly the cops in this city would have no resources to chase down organized crime or complex murder cases.

I'm making a point about this profession. My problem has been ironed out although the law profession doesn't mind lawyers acting this way. The Supreme Court of this country seems to fully endorse it. The Supreme Court needed permission from the Libs on taking siblings rights away and this was just out of convenience. I have long since given up on finding a lawyer. Even Ruby can't take on McCarthy Tetrault.

I have taken some of your attacks from your various post and I don't believe it fits a lawyer's profile -gang of thugs -manipulative weasels -…what these people get away with and how it is tolerated -above the law -self governing body -self governing profession -gang members Lawyers can advocate on your behalf or advise you and I am sure they are interested in what you have to say, currently they won't benefit from much <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well first of all they are most certainly a self governing body or self governing profession. If you read the Globe & Mail you will recall a few months back where a bunch of them were caugth money laundering and the amounts were under 10,000 and therefore were not required to be reported to the law society. The law societies response was to lower the amount of cash received that they were to report. When a lawyer is suspected of committing a crime the case is refered to the law society and the law society does not as a matter of principle report suspected crimes back to the police. To be clear: If the law society of upper canada suspects that a lawyer is committing a crime they do not ever contact the police. If you want to report a lawyer to the police you must get another lawyer to go along with you. If the lawyer bites and the suspected lawyer is not convicted then law suits can be brought against the complaining lawyer. So that never happens. So in a sense they do behave like a gang and they are most certainly above the law. Sure lawyers go to jail - things like cocain possession and drunk driving land them in jail but only when they are caught red handed by the police. There was also a judge a while back that was convicted of child pornography. How much jail time do you think he served ? They are certainly manipulative weasels - not all of them only some of them but all of them assure that the some of them do not face the same legal consequences as you and I. Lawyers regualrly lie to the law society. Try and imagine yourself walking through a city in the middle of night where the population is 88,000 people yet there are only 8 police officers. The rest of us "specks" require about 1 police officer for every 1000 people or so but if you are noble, distinguished and honorable member of the law society of upper canada you are much less likely to lie or cheat (due to your inate honorability and nobility) and therefore do not require the same gegree of policing. So I think we are all being manipulated by them and therefore togather they are acting like weasels. Consider this: A general practioner has about the same education as a lawyer. Consider that a GP is responsible for life and can be required to work all hours of the night. Consider that lawyers that earn 500/hr, 800/ hr are not uncommon. The only way for any other similarly educated professional to earn that kind of money would be to hang up their stethiscope or whatever and go into prostitution. These 500/ hr & 800/hr lawyers do not work on contingency unless they are in the USA. Up here you and I will never have access to their services. Do you really beleive that someone with 3 more years of school than most deserve to make 10 - 20 times the amount of the average professional in other disciplines ? Whats up with that ? Did you know that some personal injuryu cases take up to 20 years to process - the opposing council does everything possible to make you go broke or give up on delays. They do things like park semis full of irrelevant paper in front of your lawyers office so that you go broke while your lawyer sifts through all kinds of irrelevant paper work. (among many other similar weasel like tricks that are not actually against the law)I know its hard to believe because its such a closed society that few people know what happens in Canadian courts. Consider all the publication bans that occur - isn't this like a gang of thugs dragging your rights into a dark corner and thumping the crap out of them ? When people are finally awarded what is owed they are ordered by judges to stay quite about the antics that were going on to prevent them from even getting their day in court. They eventually do but sometimes 10 - 20 years after the inital case was brought forward. In the USA plently of lawyers make that kind of money and in many cases fight for the rights of ordinary people. John Kerries running mate and Erin Brockovitch are two. Suppose your civil rights in Canada are violated , WHO DO YA CALL ??

The law profession has a remarkable ability to make responsibility dissapear when it applies to them. Its not their fault - its the law society. In which case no one can be blamed for anything. Do you think these guys are above criticism or do you think that the legal profession and its activities have nothing to do with politics ?

The USA may be our friends and I have an enourmous amount of respect for them but corporate interests have taken over some aspects of their government due to the irresponsible American voters (as opposed to other elite interests in Canada that are just as bad) and they are in Iraq to rob the petroleum store. Just because they are our friends does that mean we should help them ? Sure we were in bed with Saddam but thats a separate issue.

FTA Lawyer is part of a self governing profession. The only people that can do something about the level of corruption in Canada is other lawyers. You do not owe FTA lawyer an apology. He is fully aware that many of his colleagues are corrupt and he knows we can't do anything and he choses to do nothing. He is part of the same group - its as if he was walking down the road with a Crips jacket on and watching one of his fellow gang members thump someone out, knowing full well they get away with it because all the other gang members are standing there ready to stop anyone from doing anything about it.

I know. I think I need to go out and buy a new keyboard after a couple of days of posting on these boards 8-) The problem is that no lawyer will ever speak on my behalf - McCarthy Tetrault is too powerful and they sometimes farm out work. It would be professional suicide for any lawyer to speak on my behalf. I think that my numerical points are complete and exactly spell out what happened. Try and remember this is extreme abuse that I have been put through - far more than a breach of ethics. I am very angry that other peole know what lawyers get away with and do not get angry. A friend of mine got hit by an uninsured truck and was limping around for 20 years before she got her settlement. She is not a fighter and is not greedy or ambituous, but firms like McCarthy Tetrault try to make your case last as long as possible hoping you will die, give up or go broke before you have your day in court. Maybe park a semi in front of your lawyers office hoping you will go broke as he sifts through all the irrelevant info. I can't believe what these people get away with and how it is tolerated. Then they go around talking about how noble and distinguished they are while better educated doctors and equally educated nurses go to work every day and expose themselves to all kinds of very real danger and abuse. The situation with lawyers in this country has become absolutely pathetic. PS: Your signature is very well put.

Furthermore: You lawyers went to the government and asked for self governance. The government of this country gave you self governing privelidges. Now there are so many of you that are in power structures everywhere that you no longer have to self govern. You charge so much money that most of us cannot defend ourselves from you. The law society has 8 lawyers supervising 88000 lawyers to save you your membership fees and to let you people lie all the time. The law society can just say "we are doing our best with our limited staff" and people buy it without understanding that YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE !!! The law society works for YOU in protecting us from the worst of you. I had an argument with the lawyer at the law society who took my case that went like this: Me: You should contact the person for whom I am complaining about and find out what happened Law society: Why bother she is just going to lie anyways ? Me: Well if you take that attitude then its like they don't even have to lie. If she is going to lie then make her lie about it !!! Don't shield her from having to lie. Do you really think that you lawyers can just keep on lying to the law society and it doesn't matter because the law society knows you are going to lie ? If this happens 50 more times, imagine if it happens to a psychopath or a person with a mental disorder > What if that person grabs a gun and shoots a pile of lawyers ? Can you honestly say you didn't deserve it? We went to war with Hitler (not for the reason of protecting poor jews but we use that as a justification today) so you cannot say violence is never justified. If you want self governance then you take responsibility for the despicable actions of your colleagues. You admit that you know some scum bag lawyers. Did you report them or just keep your mouth shut ? Have you ever reported a lawyer to the law society or is that a career killer - cause if thats a career killer in the law profession you are responsible. Self governance means that YOU are responsible !!!

She destroyed the contract but the signatores are still around. The contract proves what she did. She denies the contract existed to the law society and has since destroyed it. The law society will not contact the witness signators.
