  1. Your own country places very tight restrictions on who is allowed to come there and good for you. They won't listen to any of this "we're all humans and the whole planet is our home"-babble. If you didn't apply such policies you would be totally inundated with hundreds of millions of people who would just love to live in Canada.
  2. Let's nit forget either that what today is West Ukraine used to be territory of Poland until WWII.
  3. You are making a strawman¨-argument; no-one has said that all, or even most, muslims are terrorists. On this issue I agree with those who think the Bliar/Bush-alliance sponsored war on terrorism is hysterical nonsense; or rather singing to the tunes of their own puppet-masters. What is wrong with islam is its total inability and lack of will to adapt to western surroundings. I know this doesn't happen in Canada, which in itself helps the immigrants to adapt to their new homeland but here in Finland every child is entitled to public tuition in one's own language at least certain amount of hours a week. When we have Kurds, Somalis, Afganis, Chinese etc it's really going to create a mess. Besides, that very idea is wrong to begin with. It is the parents' job to teach their children the language of their parents if the parents want that, not the job of the education-system funded by the tax-payers.
  4. India is set to overcome China as the most populous country in the world. That in itself is a historic event as as long as there have been any records on populations of various countries China has always been the first.
  5. The crucial question is did NATO and the west really promise on German reunification to the Russians that if the Russians, then still Soviet Union, that if Germany is allowed to reunify NATO won't expand to the east? At least this betrayal of that said promise has been used as an excuse for the acts of the Russians.
  6. Is he really that good or has his name helped him?
  7. When talking about islam and muslims anyone throwing the islamophobia-card is akin to Godwin's law. Besides, most people who are accused of islamophobia aren't afraid of islam as the word phobia suggests. The correct term is more likely islamonausea.
  8. How many Canadian natives, if one is allowed to refer to them by that term, speak the same language as people speak in Greenland?
  9. In a normal democracy decade is a time people get bored with their government and vote for a change fir the sake of change. A government gets re-elected after being a decade in power only when the alternative is perceived even worse and more incompetent or, as is the case in FPTP-electoral systems, the opposition is split.
  10. Canada and Finland are in a somewhat similar position regarding muslim-invasion. We in Finland haven't experienced it yet simply because, well, Finland is remote, no reason denying that. Canada hasn't experienced it yet because Canada is located on the other side of a vast ocean and there haven't yet been bridgehead-groups large enough been formed. Both "faults" will be easily dealt with in the future. Finland is getting less and less remote and more and more people of muslim-background are moving across that wide ocean to form bridgehead-groups. You must realize that things are working by stealth. Not in a flash. I can remember 20 years ago my neighbourhood in Helsinki and there used to be almost no burkha-veiled ladies pushing their prams. Now they are all over the place. Do you think that happened one day during these 20 years? No no, gradually all along these 20 years so that we original people start regarding burkha-veiled ladies pushing prams as something of a normality. Edit: Speaking of Finland's remoteness, the countries in Europe which are not remote, like the UK, France, Holland, etc, they are up to their ears with muslim-immigration.
  11. I know you are sincere and well-meaning but the harsh reality is that there can be no harmony in society where muslims and non-muslims live side by side because islam knows no compromises; Everything must bend to the will of islam, anything else is simple blasphemy and heresy in their view.
  12. For anyone who has any doubt about the true nature of islam we need to turn again to the Swiss to hear the truth:
  13. I could imagine that people who are truly entitled to that status of being so-called natives, ie speak some native language, would detest such phoneys in their midst and thus giving all the natives a bad name.
  14. It's a bit unclear to me can a country use another country's currency even against the will of that other country. AFAIK Panama uses the USD and countries such as Kosovo and Macedonia use the euro. Scotland may stick to the pound even if they go independent. Actually, what alternative is there? Adopt the euro even though an independent Scotland isn't automatically a EU-member. Create their own currency? Don't make me laugh!
  15. Putin must be enjoying the situation enormously. Ukraine is no match for Russia and the USA is doing its best to find an honourable excuse not to get involved in a conflict where none of its interests are at stake. If only Clinton hadn't signed that treaty 20 years ago...
  16. My view is that all Middle-East superstituous claptrap belongs to the Middle-East and should not be allowed outside.
  17. It's an extremely worrying development. Here in Finland a lot of Russians buy land here in Finland even though we would be perfectly entitled under EU-laws to ban such purchases by people from non-EU countries, which is what most EU-countries do. We in Finland blindly believe that the proximity to Russia will help to vitalize our economy too and perhaps it will but at what price? Russians are easily the fastest growing group of immigrants in Finland and soon their number will overtake that of our traditional minority, the Swedish-speakers. Experience has shown that having too large Russian-speaking minorities can be a dangerous thing, especially if you are not in NATO. Putler may want to come and protect his fellow countrymen.
  18. I can't be bothered to check through this whole thread and therefore it has most probably already been said what I think of online-voting: There's no way of guaranteeing the secrecy of the vote in online-voting that the secrecy of the vote is the fundamental principle of free elections (Not in Sweden though but that's another story)
  19. Surely nobody in Scotland expects that if you vote for independence today the country will be independent tomorrow but if Scotland votes yes it can take years before independence becomes reality. Everything needs to be negotiated in the split.
  20. She's a brave woman. It takes a lot of guts to oppose a fascist ideology which islam ultimately is. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/04/11/too-many-still-fear-offending-islam
  21. If there can be an independent Ireland there's no reason why there couldn't be an independent Scotland and I'd love to see an independent Scotland but most likely when the referendum comes people will opt the devil they know. The current arrangement of devolution allows the Scots to keep the cake and eat the cake.
  22. What exactly is the problem online voting would solve?
  23. How is the project going on to move towards PR in the electoral system? Let me guess: It is going nowhere. In Canada just as well as in the UK the big parties just don't want to share power, which would be the inevitable outcome of PR.
  24. Hopefully everyone survives, not least because then it is likely that this guy will be sent to psychiatric institution, where he clearly belongs, instead of being sent to prison.
  25. When anyone says: "There's nothing illegal about this", we can be pretty sure there's a lot of immoral about it.
