159 for Conservatives is a damned good prediction. How many Quebec seats will they get, you figure? I went with Brian Mulroney's prediction on that one. Both I and Don Martin know that "Brian Mulroney who, despite his many faults can take the pulse of Quebec accurately, is telling the campaign he expects a minimum of seven Quebec seats to go Tory tonight and could see 20 going their way if the federalist vote dominos away from the Liberals."

I wonder if there is, on governmental forms at least, a new box to check aside from the one that asks whether you're 'single' or 'married', asking whether it's a 'man' or a 'woman' you are married to. That could rile up some men too. And even some gay men, eventually. "I think that gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

Did you vote yet? If not you can do it right here ... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4406 ... in the comfort of you chair. But the polls here close at 5 pm PST so you'd better run.

Don't be surprised if you get a black eye after asking some redneck whether he is married, and upon getting a positive answer you foolishly proceed to enquire whether it is a man or a woman he is married to.

That's what I've been asking myself. Why they are keeping it a secret is beyond me.

Canuk E Stan, I like Doug Fisher. The piece where he's pointing out a big raise in the collective Liberal IQ ever since Ignatieff joined them, and his proposal to the CPC to bring on David Frum to even it up is great. As are many others. I like his pro-Tory prediction too, but I thought to myself "why bother when I'm the tops here at MLW with my measily prediction of 160 seats?" (ever since Geoff chickened out, as I knew he would). I'm not as bold as Douglas is, but I've decided to raise my CPC seat count. If no for other reason than not wanting my prediction to look like child's play compared to Doug's prediction, and of course to give you, Stanislav, a faint hope of winning. So, here it is, my last & final revision: (unless someone here dares to up my 166, of course.) Tories ..... 166 (including AT LEAST seven to twenty from Quebec) Libs ........ 50 ( that's what they will be drinking tonight) BQ ........ 55 NDP ......... 36 Ind ............ 1 (just because August1991 says so) Good Luck!

I enjoy my hallucinogens as much as the next guy but I forgot to take one before I went to vote. http://www.streetdrugs.org/pcp.htm

Urge everyone to Vote on Monday
Biblio Bibuli replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in News and Announcements
But if you wish St Thomas Ford and Oshawa GM to be spared a licking, and if you wish that that today's mad cow discovery would go unpunished etc. etc. etc. LOCK UP ALL THE LIBERAL SCOUNDRELS AND THE NDP WACKOS FOR THE REST OF THE DAY!!! Thank you! -
140 is long way from your pathetic 113, August1991. Too bad Andrew Coyne is not working for MLW instead of the NP, because here he would have the freedom to say how he really predicts this election will go. (163 is my guess.)

Toronto Sun now Supports CPC
Biblio Bibuli replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The Toronto Sun now Supports the CPC, you say? Hmm. And which major Canadian newspaper doesn't, may I ask? Besides that Toronto Star rag, that is. -
I am going to vote Conservative tomorrow
Biblio Bibuli replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree. 64 to 66% is my guess. -
Here are some of today's stray predictions: BigGunner ..... 125 Tml12 ............ 134 Hicksay .......... 149 Geoffrey ........ 158 http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.p...t=0entry90663 Whichever one of you assumes red faced August1991's responsibility of tallying up the predictions , please make sure you include these. Thanks!
-
I didn't know this, where'd you find out about this? I was told this by one of the Vancouver Sun's editors, about 3 or 4 days ago.
-
Stephen Harper and Peter Mansbridge are long time personal friends so the the most important media outlet ought to be fair and friendly.
-
Seeing as how August1991 went so shamefully off course with his projection, , I think it would be cruel and unusual punnishment to expect him to now come back to this topic of his and fulfill his duty of tallying up all the predictions. But SOMEBODY has to do it! Any volunteers?
-
Sorry, that nice round number has already been taken. 161 is still unclaimed as far as I know, and ever since Geoffrey bumped his prediction to 163, 159 is too. Good luck!
-
I didn't say who I "think" will win, I told you who "WILL" win. And that's heroic, in that if you listened to me and bet a bundle as I told you to, I'd be your hero come Monday. I asked you, and immediately the next day I see this in The Province ..... "Tory MP Mark Warawa is a shoo-in." Hmm hmm hmm ..... what a coincidence! Thanks for taking care of it for me, PR!

Right Wing Dreams Of Yesteryear - Boot Camps
Biblio Bibuli replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Congratulations NPWBNers ........... YOU WON !!!! -
The only way I could evaluate our military would be by looking in their mouths. Are you a dentist? How much is gold worth these days anyway?
-
Are you kidding??? Stress??? On the contrary. This campaign has been more amusing than anything else. You didn't dare to predict the winner earlier, before the CPC became a shoo-in , that's why you're not stressed today. All those who DID dare to predict before the CPC became a shoe-in are stressed today from either a) the ecstasy of victory (that would be me) or the agony of defeat (that would be all the rest of the Maple Leafers). PS - I caught the National Post using "shoe-in" instead of "shoo-in" four times in the past year. Why are they DOING that?
-
That sounds somewhat like what Putin said after Bush assured him that, should the BMD system work, he'll put one of those babies around Russia too. The Province's Alan Ferguson asks: "On missile defence, isn't it at least worth the effort to see what can be done to stop bombs dropping on our heads? What's wrong with us?
-
Thanks to the media and their owners I was able to make a sizable bet on a CPC majority back in early December when it still paid a bundle. Now all you get on them is 1 to 9. I never make big bets on sports because they have referees, and "the trouble with referees is that they just don't care which side wins."
-
Even the CBC is taking the side of the Republicans, saying that what she said was ugly.
-
The question is... how can Doug be wrong. He's not ruling out an "amazing about-turn" where Martin could come out as a majority PM, right down to the Liberals being in the dumps with the Conservatives holding 190 seats. How the hell does he get away with that?
-
You think that's something? Just an hour ago I overheard Hillary Clinton say ..... "Bush runs the White House like a plantation. And you know what I mean by that!" I don't know what she means by that. Do you? She's going cuckoo, that's my guess.
