Short answer, yes. It is a characteristic of the Westminster model. Canada is democratically undermined by political cultures. A Canadian PM has more power than a king. I not even sure why they refer to Canada as a democratic country, since the only thing democratic about it is we get to elect an MP who is not compelled to represent Canadians regarding important societal concerns in parliament. Notwithstanding of course includes the politica party the MP represents. But even at that you could be voting for a politcal leader whose platform does not include any of your major issues.

What exactly do Islamicfacist want? http://www.americanintelligence.us/index.p...=print&sid=3710 "Who is not looking for a peaceful solution to what?" -
And if you take away anyones right to do just that, then you become the oppressor, and you become what you hate the most. Oh. Come now! You don't think Argus hates oppression, do you??? Really, it depends on who is doing and who is being. This could be true, especially considering what a perceived right might consist of in relation to the functioning and security of the present world order.

"US ambassador David Wilkins says Canada must strengthen its copyright laws, to prevent illicit pirating of American music and films" Amazingly these Canadian pirated movies have been found in 45 countries. Looks like Canada is competing for third world status. http://p2pnet.net/story/11546 http://www.canada.com/globaltv/national/st...f8-277923bc1f6b http://www.thestar.com/artsentertainment/article/189122

Possible war with Iran
Leafless replied to moderateamericain's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Terrorism will only continue and Iraq and Afghanistan is a good indication what will be resolved and that is 'very little' relating to the root cause of terrorism and obliterating it. A major conflict appears inevitable, as Iraq and Arab countries are all playing the same ball and want to dictate their terms against the current political establishment. It's a no win situation in trying to implement a peaceful solution because, it is obvious they are not looking for one. -

This is all about the clash if civilizations and we should get them before they get us, period. Iran and Arab countries have it in for Israel and the U.S. http://www.israelnewsagency.com/irannuclea...4899022807.html http://www.paktribune.com/news/index.shtml?171133 -
Possible war with Iran

And Israel knows this. Israel knows if Iran goes ahead with the bomb, it creates an existential danger to Israel. Chances are Israel could unilaterally attack Iran. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/834084.html -
How exactly does acid rain cause climate/weather changes again? I must have missed that one. LOL Don't you know? It causes people to drive more, creating more CO2.

3,500 City of Ottawa Jobs to be bilingual
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The point of the matter is the federal government VIOLATED their own 'Official Languages of Canada' law. 'Official Languages of Canada' Section 16(1) quite clearly states: " English and French are the official languages of Canada and have EQUAL RIGHTS and PRIVLEDGES as to their use in all institutions of the Parliament and government of Canada." It makes NO MENTION of COMPULSARY BILINGUALISM as a qualification for employment. BTW- This thread is totally 'off topic' as it should be directed to city of Ottawa 'official bilingualism' and not federal bilingualism. This thread was initiated to illustrate the dramatic loss of democratic rights and related city job losses pertaining to the implementation of an 'official bilingualism policy' in a majority English city. The tax payers of Ottawa had no legal recourse, such as a referendum to determine if this undemocratic language policy should have been implemented initially without the voice of the tax payers who pay the bills, in their own majority English speaking city. I would prefer or rather DEMAND to see Ontario like Quebec, 'OFFICIALLY ENGLISH' to prevent any minority culture intervention. -
Who is to blame for the demise of traditional marriage

And Christianity is a religion-no? -
This in fact is not true. In Ottawa after checking with our major newspaper, space in obituaries is sold at $4.75 per line. The average size picture (size of a larger postage stamp, 1"x1.25") that accompanies the obit, after determining line charge, amounts to about $28.00. So, in fact you pay for the photo, it is by no means free.

There have been many complaints when some members complain that there is no need to initiate a new thread on a topic, when an old one on the same topic exist. But the point is, many of these older threads contain page after page of irrelevant information, NOT pertaining to the topic and greatly confuses members who fish through these pages to see what actually has been said relating to the original topic. I am asking 'should it not be the moderators responsibility to lock a thread after it becomes painfully obvious, the thread is no longer entertaining the original topic matter and should be closed down'?

The topic covered here is "not boring nonsense" as science discovered a new factor: "It marked the first time climate scientists have been able to measure the effect of "aerosols" -- minute airborne particles -- on climate." The reason proof was asked for in this instance, related to CO2, was that gc1765 made a FACTUAL CLAIM concerning global warming which is simply not true. Your right, there have been many threads on the subject initiated and basically this is due to SCIENCE BEING IGNORANT on the subject and continually making newer claims on a regular basis, which in turn is picked up here and discussed. Blame scientist for all the confusion as they are the ones making the headlines and not members of this site. In fact the entire scientific community should perhaps keep their mouths shut, until they get it right. In the meantime we simply carry on as usual, agreed?

Your the one that's trolling. You are not addressing the content of the article and choose to obfuscate this topic in order to impress your own concerns concerning another matter, primarily CO2. The article is NOT concerned with CO2 and ignores it. And you have not supplied proof, like I ask you to produce, that in fact man made CO2 is the cause of global warming.
-
Huh? What are you talking about? I asked you a simple question and that's how you respond? I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself....how does this change the fact that CO2 causes global warming? Sorry, soot is not carbon dioxide, it is much larger particulate matter with higher heat retention qualities at a lower level (height) which do not stay in the atmosphere for any great length of time. So maybe you can prove to me how man made carbon dioxide (not natural) is the cause for accelerating the greenhouse effect to the point where these temperatures are actually responsible for warmer ground temperatures and extreme weather patterns. What this article is describing is the abnormal weather patterns caused by soot clouds resulting in abnormal global weather, with the soot primarily imported from China and India.

Who is to blame for the demise of traditional marriage

They either have special Charter status or have received federal government intervention to attend to their specific issues. Is this not what the rest of my post implied? -

Who is to blame for the demise of traditional marriage
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Give us an example, or indeed any other sort of support for that assertion, if you can. Are White, English speaking Catholics forcing the federal government to make constitutional changes or force federal intervention to accommodate their views? Jews have, Muslims have, Francophone's have, Aboriginals have, Blacks have etc. etc. etc. -
How does this change the fact that CO2 causes global warming? You make outrageous statements without proof? What are you, a ding bat?

Do you think the West can win the war?
Leafless replied to Topaz's topic in Canada / United States Relations
This is NOT a WAR to begin with, it is a TERRORIST HUNT and hardly worth the effort in my opinion. I wish it was a war then we could use a little bit of REAL MUSCLE POWER, and save a lot of Western lives in the process. -
Forget CO2 as the cause of global warming, now it's floating soot particles that change the chemistry of the air, scientists say, turning regular clouds into towering storm clouds through convection, or rising warm air. China and India seem to be to the blame for using sulphurous coal. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...b02d9df&k=89291

Who is to blame for the demise of traditional marriage
Leafless replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
You want government to get into marriage??I hate to ask: where do you need the help? No I don't want government directly getting into marriage either but they have anyways with SSM big time. Sure, stay out of the bedrooms of the nation. I would like to see government support the concept of marriage as they are the ones complaining of a declining birth rate. You would assume the government would be able to possess the intellect to be able to figure this out themselves. Since couples are both required to work these days, all couples do not have the financial resources to consider a family with expensive housing being a problem along with the fact all couples don't like the idea of leaving their children with day care workers. You can couple this with values that have been destroyed, by government and business that discourage family unity. These are a few areas that could be attended to.
