MAGA is goo-goo-ga-ga for spectacle
Radiorum replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You're having some trouble understanding what I was saying. Trump sees governance as a means to an end - and that end is to serve his own personal interests - feed his ego, increase the adoration of the base, increase his brand, increase his power, increase his wealth, make him a king. These are the things he wants, and yes, you are right, he goes after what he wants. His motivations are not based in good governance - he is not interested in the nuts and bolts of governance - and if someone else supplies to him the formula to achieve the things he wants - as listed above - he will use it. -

No, Trump is doing what he wants to for himself. But as far as the details of governance, that is being fed to him on a platter. Vought, Miller and the rest tell him what to do, and he will do it. He occupies the position not to make America great, but to do what will advance his own interests. he's in it only for his own interests, -

There are real problems in their communities. But they can't be solved without examining and addressing the institutional forces that relegated them to where they are now.- 55 replies

More projection. As long as you keep disparaging people who present you with the truth as having TDS, I would not take you as a good source of anything.- 55 replies

Some Whites really think it is about making Whites feel guilty. That's their guilt talking! But if only they could not make it all about them and make it about the people who suffered the persecution. They are more likely to shoot and ask questions later with Black people.- 55 replies

How so? because they are getting vocal? Did you know that between 1882 and 1968, around 4.7 thousand people were lynched in the USA? About 3.5 thousand of those victims were Black, and the second biggest group was Mexican. Do you know the story of Emmet Till - a 14-year-old boy lynched in 1955 after being accused of offending a white woman? The racism runs deep and profound. Why is the rate of fatal police shootings for Black people 6.1/million people, compared to 2.4/million people for Whites? Did you know that a rite of passage for young Black men is to have "the talk" with their parents about how to behave if they are stopped at traffic stops so as to avoid getting targeted because of the colour of their skin? Wow, you really feel threatened by me, don't you?- 55 replies

But that white lives matter has never been brought into question. There was nothing to correct there. But, historically, black lives have not mattered so much.- 55 replies

Yeah, the truth is getting to you. You have been fed a line, and fallen for it. No-one wants to protect criminals or open the borders. The only person trying to control the media is Trump, and only his supporters have assaulted police officers in his name. "In my way" - spoken like a true MAGA. Do you want to deport me to a prison that does torture? "destructive instead of constructive" - Trump is destructive. He has destroyed the standing of the US in the world, he's divided the nation, he's destroyed democratic norms and institutions, he has destroyed the dignity of many people, he is working on destroying the economy, and even the environment. God, this is chilling. "Out of our way" begs the question - where are you going? -

Did you read the report? the first paragraph: The Trump administration has admitted that a report from last year that linked terrorism to immigration was badly flawed. But the episode is the latest to underscore how our approach to fighting terror over-hypes terrorism involving Muslim perpetrators while downplaying domestic terror committed by far-right militants, even though the latter is more common and more deadly. -

No, I'd not want to give up all the modern-day conveniences. But there is a lot of wisdom that has been recorded from ancient times, and from different places, and I think it's always a good thing to broaden your mind a bit. The Tao was actually written around the 6th century BC. one more selection from it: Or fame or life, Which do you hold more dear? Or life or wealth, To which would you adhere? Keep life and lose those other things; Keep them and lose your life:—which brings Sorrow and pain more near? Thus we may see, Who cleaves to fame Rejects what is more great; Who loves large stores Gives up the richer state. Who is content Needs fear no shame. Who knows to stop Incurs no blame. From danger free Long live shall he. Does it make you feel better to say this? Does it make you feel superior? -

Here's more from the Tao: Those three methods (of government) Thought olden ways in elegance did fail And made these names their want of worth to veil; But simple views, and courses plain and true Would selfish ends and many lusts eschew. When we renounce learning we have no troubles. The (ready) 'yes,' and (flattering) 'yea;'— Small is the difference they display. But mark their issues, good and ill;— What space the gulf between shall fill? -

What an incredibly self-absorbed and ignorant point-of-view. Just for that I am going to quote to you from the Tao Te Ching (Dao De Jing), the foundational text of Taoism, written about 3,000 years ago, in present-day China: May not the space between heaven and earth be compared to a bellows? 'Tis emptied, yet it loses not its power; 'Tis moved again, and sends forth air the more. Much speech to swift exhaustion lead we see; Your inner being guard, and keep it free. The valley spirit dies not, aye the same; The female mystery thus do we name. Its gate, from which at first they issued forth, Is called the root from which grew heaven and earth. Long and unbroken does its power remain, Used gently, and without the touch of pain. -

Yeah, and here's another fact for you - much research shows that the right is more inclined to politically-motivated violence than the left. Also - “Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives…” “In this same period, far-left extremists committed 42 ideologically motivated attacks that took 78 lives.” The Trump DOJ quietly removed the results of this study from its webpage in September. Why? What false narrative is it trying to advance? These were horrible happenings, but you cannot place a blanket fault on the "left" for this. That would be like placing a blanket fault on the right for the following two examples: *** MAGA Report monitors and reports on the comments on online MAGA forums. Here's a selection of comments calling for the extrajudicial killing of immigrants following the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia: · We should have killed this guy months ago. It would have saved us a lot of time and hassle while taking a violent criminal off the streets. Why is it that we can blow up foreign criminals/terrorists in international waters and abroad, but the moment they set foot on US soil, they’re entitled to an attorney, a trial, an appeals process, etc? o It baffles me how a criminal alien, involved in human trafficking, and open gang member doesn’t get the rope. § Why not have the cameras malfunction for a few minutes while he “hangs himself” like Jeffery Epstein did? § Criminal aliens charged with felonies should be under military court jurisdiction and justice. § You might run into some issues with that due to ex parte Milligan. Which is why I’d prefer to deny them a trial outright § Just a hundred years ago, regular people like you and me would have already hanged him from a tree... § 60 years ago. 20 years ago no judge would dare do this. We’ve been conquered. There hypothetically and unfortunately needs to be a civil war to end this. § Revolution, not civil war. There’s a huge difference *** Kevin Patrick Smith left dozens of threatening voice messages for US Senator Jon Dester (Montana – Democrat) “You stand toe to toe with me, I rip your head off. You die.” FBI agents issued Smith a warning, but he didn’t stop, and ramped up his messages, alluding to guns. His accusations were vague – “you’re pedophiles and you’re criminals” When they arrested Smith, they confiscated four shotguns, five rifles, eight pistols, a homemade silencer and nearly 1,200 rounds of ammunition. Smith pleaded guilty to threatening to injure and murder a US Senator and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. *** Death threats to lawmakers have in fact doubled during the Trump years. Do you think it might be because he says things like this: (and regularly dehumanizes his opposition) “We pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, that lie and steal and cheat on elections … The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave that the threat from within. Our threat is from within.” So, if we want to get to the root of the problem, we have to hold leadership accountable for their inflammatory rhetoric. This is so out of touch with reality it boggles the mind. -

Project 2025 is the blueprint for transforming executive power. it was written for the next Republican president, whoever that might have been. As it turned out, it fed right into Trump's ego - this grand plan to amass power in the president. Of course he is closely following it. He is using Project 2025 to re-shape the US. Look, before the election, Trump said, "I have no idea who is behind Project 2025." But, 3 of the 4 main authors of it served in his first Administration. Some say that Russell Vought - who played a major role in the creation of Project 2025 and is now the director of the Office of Management and Budget - is the real power beyond all policy - leaving Trump to play his part, while he puts his most important attention on his true aims - amassing his personal fortune. -

No, I don't hate him. Believe me when I say my sights are on something much bigger than an amoral, lying con man. You say "disputes" - but Trump says "wars." This is just false. Trump has no right to call himself "the president of peace" while inflaming a domestic war at home, as well as his aggression towards Venezuela.
