CBS caves to political pressure
Radiorum replied to Radiorum's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
if you don't realize that the Trump admin is behind this, you are a fool. -
Editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, of CBS, has pulled a “60 Minutes” segment – hours before airtime - featuring the accounts of Venezuelan men deported by the Trump administration to a notorious maximum-security prison in El Salvador characterized by its “brutal and tortuous conditions.” The reason given for the pull was that the Trump administration had not contributed their side. But – they had refused invitations. They had refused to engage. In the email 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi sent to her colleagues after Weiss “spiked our story” she writes: “Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now – after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political decision. We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, no a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed to kill the story. If the administration’s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a “kill switch” for any reporting they find inconvenient.” https://www.instagram.com/p/DSjUBtSjtVe/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== State censorship is alive and well in the USA.

What does this describe to you - from page 11 - and, on January 6, 2021, to direct an angry mob to the United States Capitol to obstruct the congressional certification of the presidential election and then leverage rioters' violence to further delay it. 4 In service of these efforts, Mr. Trump worked with other people to achieve a common plan: to overturn the election results and perpetuate himself in office.

Violence must never go without consequence for the perpetrators of it, and so the injustice here is that Trump did let the worst offenders of January 6 get away with it, referring to them as "hostages". here's the facts: The “summer of unrest” related to the George Floyd murders resulted in over 13,600 arrests nationwide. No-one got away with anything. Over 300 were charged with federal crimes. By contrast, Trump pardoned even the worst offenders of January 6, including people who beat police officers with weapons. More than 600 had been charged with assaulting, resisting or obstructing law enforcement, including around 175 charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer. “Complete and unconditional pardons” were even given to fourteen Proud Boys and Oath Keepers facing the most serious charges Until you read Jack Smith's reports, your opinion on the matter is uninformed

Trump the Con Man strikes again

You should try your hand at writing stories. This is great fiction. -
Have you seen the footage? Because they believe all the lies that Trump has told. The 2020 election has been the most scrutinized election in history, and absolutely no evidence of fraud sufficient to change the outcome of the election was ever uncovered. This is another massive con job on the part of Trump.

The indignation is no more powerful than in the so called “Christian base” – In the US, transgender persons are not safe from Christian hate The man in the video below is angry. He’s speaking on stage at Turning Point’s (founded by Charlie Kirk, now run by his widow Erica) Americafest. He cites Charlie as a martyr, then scapegoats an entire community, cloaked in a warped version of Christianity. His speech is chilling, and yet earned him a standing ovation. “The person who pulled the trigger (on Charlie) is part of the demonic transgender ideology that warps the minds of our young children, that poisons them, that is antithetical to creation itself … God doesn’t make mistakes. Transgenderism is a lie from the pit of hell … and I’m sick of seeing transgender violence and murderers in my country … what a horrid and wretched ideology … it’s time to kick in doors, come on FBI, do some door-kicking, round them up.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSi3WJiEewU/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Trump the Con Man strikes again

Stop confusing running away from thinking you are not worth replying to -
He said it was the leading cause of death. That is a lie. The top three in 2023 were cancer (84,629), heart disease (57,890), and accidents (20,597) In 2023, there were 326,215 deaths in Canada, of which 15,343 were MAID deaths. That works out to be 4.7%, not 20% And there you are again spouting stuff without any cite. I don't see a reason to pay any attention to anything you say when you can't bother citing your source. Besides, individual anecdotes do not discredit the program

Lol, you guys are so funny - defending Trump when all sense of rationality shouts against it. One thing I will respond to - I never heard of Tony Gonzales but he is a liar! According to US Customs and Border Protection's own statistics - there were not 13,099 convicted murders - but only 29 You guys, search inside your heart. Why do you support this con man? -
Trump the Con Man strikes again

Yeah, and I am sure Trump knew any of this, lol. Everyone recognizes that Trump's address was ridden with lies, conspiracy theories and personal grievance. it is somewhat astonishing that you cannot see that, too. -
In Ontario, 91 percent of handguns recovered from crimes in 2024 came in illegally from the United States, according to the provincial government. In Toronto, the country’s biggest city, 88 percent of all firearms recovered from crimes in 2024 were smuggled across the border. The Canadian authorities have also been confiscating more firearms at the border with the United States: 827 in 2024, up from 459 in 2020, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. Across Canada, the homicide rate increased 33 percent from 2013 to 2023, largely because of firearm killings, which jumped 89 percent, according to government data. As U.S. Guns Pour Into Canada, the Bodies Pile Up Jooyoung Lee, a professor of sociology at the University of Toronto who studies the underlying causes and long-term consequences of gun violence, says "One thing we've known for many, many generations is that the U.S. is a global exporter of firearms and the vast majority of crime guns in Canada are originating in a very small kind of handful of U.S. states that have much more lax and porous gun laws.” As Trump falsely accuses Canada of being a major importer of fentanyl to the US, maybe some attention should be put on this northbound gun problem.

Trump the Con Man strikes again

Are you really so unaware of Trump's lies? here's a selection from that prime-time address: The president made the misleading claim that “for the first time in years, wages are rising much faster than inflation.” Year-over-year wages have been rising faster than inflation since June 2023, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures. Trump falsely claimed that inflation when he took office was the “worst … in the history of our country” and that inflation had now “stopped.” Inflation was never the “worst” under Biden, and it was 3% for the 12 months ending in January. It rose 2.7% in the 12-month period ending in November. He said, “Gasoline is now under $2.50 a gallon, and in much of the country, in some states, it by the way just hit $1.99 a gallon.” The national average price was $2.90 a gallon the week of Dec. 15, and the lowest statewide average was $2.34 in Oklahoma. Trump claimed that due to the tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, “many families will be saving between $11,000 and $20,000 a year.” The Tax Policy Center estimated the average tax cut would be $800. Only those in the top 1% of households would see an average tax decrease of the amount Trump claimed. Speaking about immigrants, Trump’s estimate that the U.S. was “invaded by an army of 25 million people” is vastly inflated; his claim that many of them came from “prisons and jails and mental institutions and insane asylums” is unsupported, and his claim that the Biden administration allowed in “11,888 murderers” is wrong. The president made the mathematically impossible claim that he was able “to slash prices on drugs and pharmaceuticals by as much as 400, 500 and even 600%.” -
The killings of the Americans were by a rogue actor - a lone gunman - who was about to get fired for his extreme views. Hegseth declared it "vengeance" - and the United States “struck more than 70 targets at multiple locations across central Syria with fighter jets, attack helicopters and artillery”. But, it's noteworthy that the strikes were carried out with the co-operation of Syrian authorities. Also - how much respect did Trump have for the American lives lost when he couldn't even bow his head at the dignified transfer? See the line-up of bowed heads in the video below (in the first minute) - all except Trump

Unfortunately, these are the kind of outrageous lies fed to the American people by the right-wing media bubble – In the video below, this is what Tucker Carlson has to say about Canada: “Canada is not even a country anymore … government is murdering tens of thousands of citizens every year, they’re almost all white … under the MAIDs program, they’re harvesting the organs of the Canadians they kill … the government is killing you, not because you have ALS, but because you can’t pay your rent … extending it to children, and then harvesting the organs and the blood … they are a way bigger threat to the US than Venezuela … I would be open to invading and occupying Canada on human rights grounds … one of the darkest countries in the world.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSfp3gFkb9r/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
