Mayor Johnson, Chicago
reason10 replied to August1991's topic in State Politics in the United States
1. The State should not dictate private choices. Your gun laws contradict that statement. 2. In Canada, we have a federal State. As an individual Canadian, our federal government is restricted in what it can do. So Mexican illegal aliens could set up a child prostitution ring and your government would have nothing to say about it? The US federal 1964 Civil Rights Act is unthinkable in Canada. It's unthinkable to guarantee the voting rights of all, regardless of race? -
In this thread so far there have been ZERO right right wing fake news sites. So you are a LIAR in that regard. As far as FoxNews goes (and Fox IS the most reliable news source on the planet) Not sure that would qualify the bank as Woke, but it clearly supported far left causes. As far as what caused SVB to tank, it's leadership ALONG with Unelected Joe deserves the blame. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/biden-banking-busts-include-this-single-biggest-monetary-policy-mistake-half-century President Joe Biden created the perfect storm for what may become a string of banking busts. In 2021, he lied about inflation, saying it was temporary and "no serious economist" considered it a threat. Yellen and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, whose first term was about to expire, went along with Biden and did nothing to bring down prices. It was the single biggest monetary policy mistake in half a century. Then in March 2022, newly reappointed Powell launched aggressive rate hiking to cure what the Wall Street Journal called "a mess largely of the Fed's own making." As rates rose fast, startup companies could no longer afford to borrow, and instead started withdrawing their bank deposits. Without regulatory intervention, the downfall of SVB was almost a foregone conclusion. On March 7, Powell predicted that the Fed will likely "increase the pace of rate hikes" to continue bringing down inflation. A task made more difficult by our spendaholic president's budget proposal, which is an inflation accelerator. As rates rise, more banks could be in trouble. Continued government incompetence is not an option. Mr. President, get rid of your woke minions and appoint competent people. Our money and jobs are at stake. On Sunday night, Biden said he's "firmly committed to holding those responsible for this mess fully accountable." Look in the mirror, Mr. President. Instead, he's looking at the list of Democratic campaign donors and scurrying to bail them out. Ninety-eight percent of all political contributions from people who worked at internet companies went to Democrats in 2020. Silicon Valley residents coughed up nearly $200 million for Democrats. No surprise that the Treasury and the Fed are offering bailouts, whether they use that word or not. Biden's reckless spending and incompetent monetary policy are causing this string of banking busts. And John Q. Public will end up paying one way or another. This is ECONOMICS, an ADULT subject. You are still in the third grade. This is WAY over your uneducated head, snowflake.

You have a third grade education. Dodd Frank helped cause the financial crisis Bush inherited. Deregulation led to the greatest economy in history, made possible by LEGALLY ELECTED PRESIDENT TRUMP. Biden's INFLATION is the reason why SVB's assets climbed to over 200 BILLION. (Those HUGE deficits were from Biden's STIMULUS checks he sent to everyone, mostly the rich.) That caused INFLATION. SVB invested that extra cash in long term bonds, which are very sensitive to interest rates. The FED had to raise rates to slow down the inflation BIDEN CAUSED. Those long term bonds became worthless. This is ALL BIDEN'S FAULT, not Trump. Trump left UNELECTED JOE an expanding economy. And look like UNELECTED JOE FUKKKED IT UP.

Yeah, this is REALLY bizarre. https://www.yahoo.com/news/man-convicted-stealthed-partner-during-195530999.html Man convicted after he 'stealthed' partner during sex A Dutch court has convicted a man for removing his condom during sex without his partner’s consent, marking a landmark change in how to deal with the act of "stealthing." "By his actions, the suspect forced the victim to tolerate having unprotected sex with him," the court said. "In doing so, he restricted her personal freedom and abused the trust she had placed in him." The unnamed 28-year-old man sent the victim texts after they had sex, including one that insisted she would "be fine" after learning of the act, the AFP reported. "Stealthing" has become a greater issue for courts as they tackle how to best handle cases that can expose a sexual partner to sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancy. A couple of points: 1. If the condom was there to prevent pregnancy, it is futile. 2. If the condom was there to prevent the transmission of disease, ask yourself if you would get that close to someone with AIDS, knowing he/she had AIDS and a condom was your only protection. 3. If you don't trust the genital, WHY ARE YOU FCKING THE GENITAL? (a quote from Sam Kinison.)

Your federal Civil Rights Act would be unconstitutional in Canada. We in Canada have a different way of protecting minority right Of course. It's so fcking COLD there that minorities move south. You don't need to protect black people when there aren't any black people. -
Points to ponder: 1. Joe is a fcking LIAR. Congress did NOT pass same sex marriage. The SUPREME COURT legislated that from the bench. 2. Most states do not allow children to buy tobacco, alcohol, firearms, etc before a legal age. But this UNELECTED PEDOPHILE JOSEF MENGELE has no problem with CHILDREN being scarred for life in these horrific procedures. 3. Unelected Joe is a monster.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/only-path-poverty-house-republican-182953182.html ‘Work Is the Only Path Out of Poverty’: House Republican to Introduce Bill Expanding Food-Stamp Eligibility Requirements Representative Dusty Johnson (R., S.D.) will introduce a bill on Tuesday that would expand work-based eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The proposed bill, first reported by Politico, would enlarge the age group of SNAP recipients without dependents who must comply with work requirements to be eligible for food stamps. Advocates of the bill insist that refining the work requirements of SNAP beneficiaries will incentive recipients to escape poverty. Johnson, a member of the House Agriculture Committee whose own family relied on food stamps when he was a child, had made clear his intentions to change the eligibility requirements following his reelection in November 2022. Winning over three-quarters of the vote, Johnson told voters that combatting skyrocketing energy costs and reforming SNAP within the new Farm Bill would be his top priorities. “Work is an opportunity. It’s not a punishment,” Johnson told a crowd of supporters on Election Day in Sioux Falls, S.D. “There is no recipe for escaping poverty that doesn’t have work as a requirement.” Johnson said much the same in a recent statement to Politico: “We know that work is the only path out of poverty.” In other words, welfare bums, GET OFF YOUR FAT ASSES AND GET TO WORK. We're tired of supporting your useless ass. Businesses are hiring all over the place. GET A GODDAM JOB. NOW.

It never would have happened if LYING JOE hadn't stolen the presidency. Putin NEVER would have had the balls to pull the stunts he's pulling now. DeSantis is entirely correct. He is not lying

Trump got rid of DODD FRANK, which touched off the financial crisis in 2007. His deregulations gave America the best economy in history. The bank received TONS of cash because of BIDENFLATION. It invested in long term bonds which are subject to changes in interest rates. The Fed had to hike rates because of BIDENFLATION It's as simple as that. BIDEN caused ALL of this.

That LIE has been debunked for years. Chicago is the murder capital of the world, BLUE Chicago. California has more gun violence than combinations of FIVE red states. If you don't want to come to a Republican hell hole like Florida (where you would scarcely qualify to be in the third grade in our tougher schools) stay in your blue state. We have enough people moving here now.

New bill from Democrats their FINAL SOLUTION

Nope. Planned Parenthood was founded by a Eugenics promoter. Eugenics led to the Holocaust. THIS was Hillary's idol. -
Every month this year, we have highlighted just some of the many times law-abiding citizens used their firearms to defend themselves or others. (You can read past articles here: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, and October). Unsurprisingly, November was also replete with similar stories of Americans using guns to save lives and livelihoods. Nov. 2, Everett, Washington: A concealed-carry permit holder intervened to stop a mentally disturbed man who was endangering drivers by throwing chunks of concrete and metal pipes at cars passing by on the interstate. The man had damaged almost a dozen cars and was holding a large piece of metal when the permit holder drew his handgun and detained the man until police could arrive. One of the drivers whose car was damaged told reporters that she was thankful the permit holder saved her and other drivers from further harm. Nov. 5, Genesee County, New York: A 76-year-old man used his shotgun to fend off an armed home intruder, potentially saving both his life and the life of his wife. The man responded to a knock on his door during the night, only to have the intruder force his way inside at gunpoint and tell the couple to give him all their money or else he would kill them. The intruder then ordered the couple to go into the basement, where the man thought the intruder was going to kill them. Instead, the man was able to grab his loaded shotgun and shoot the intruder in the hip, then held him at gunpoint for 15 minutes until police could arrive. Nov. 7, Glen Burnie, Maryland: A man was feeding chickens in his yard when his bulldog began frantically barking, and he heard commotion from inside his home. He walked inside to find two acquaintances had broken in and, armed with a gun and a knife, were assaulting his girlfriend. The man grabbed an antique shotgun that he kept loaded “in case anything ever happens,” and fired at the attackers, injuring one and causing the other to run away. The man told reporters: “They could have shot and killed both of us, and then what? The guys could have got away scot-free. But no, I am an American. I’m going to have my gun, and I’m going to shoot [intruders] when they enter my house.” Nov. 10, Atascocita, Texas: A group of four masked would-be robbers charged into a jewelry store and began using hammers to smash into glass cases and grab expensive items. The storeowner saw the thieves from behind the one-way mirror in his office, grabbed his gun, and fired several rounds that wounded two thieves and sent all of them running. The four thieves were later arrested by law enforcement, and all of the stolen items were recovered. Nov. 14, Port Charlotte, Florida: A disabled New York City firefighter recovering from serious injuries relied on his handgun for protection against a masked woman who broke into his home and assaulted him. The firefighter, suffering from a herniated disc in his back and a broken pelvis, warned the woman he was armed, but she punched his jaw and throat, and attempted to gouge his eyes. As the struggle continued, he feared he would be overpowered and shot the woman once in the stomach, causing her to flee the scene. She was subsequently arrested. Nov. 17, Burlington, North Carolina: A homeowner used his shotgun to defend himself against an ax-wielding man who tried to break into his home through a back door. The homeowner did not need to fire his weapon, as the would-be intruder fled the moment he saw there would be an armed confrontation. Police later arrested the intruder and charged him with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony. Nov. 21, Benton Harbor, Michigan: Two armed intruders broke into an apartment and ordered the occupants—including three children—to “get down.” The apartment renter heard the commotion from a separate room, grabbed his rifle, and shot at the intruders, killing one and sending the other fleeing. No one else in the apartment was harmed during the home invasion. Nov. 25, Miami: When a man armed with an AK-47 attempted to rob a 60-year-old concealed-carry permit holder who was in his van, his son, and girlfriend, the permit holder drew his handgun and killed the would-be robber. The permit holder, who told reporters he is originally from Jamaica and a member of the National Rifle Association, said, “I am going to defend my life and those I love. My family is innocent, and just don’t put an AK-47 in my face. I will not allow that to happen.” Nov. 27, Tulsa, Oklahoma: A man high on the drug PCP began stabbing his friend with a knife after the friend declined to give the man a ride. The friend, in fear for his life, pulled out his firearm and shot the man, who ultimately died from his wounds. The friend suffered serious injuries, but survived. Tulsa police said they think the shooting was justified. Nov. 28, McCleary, Washington: A woman shot and killed her estranged husband after he broke into her house and attacked her and a friend with a knife. The woman already had a domestic violence protection order issued against the husband. In a statement to a local news station, she explained, “If it’s your life or theirs, you have to do what you have to do.” Nov. 30, Ellenwood, Georgia: A deliveryman was unloading an order of bread at a Hardee’s fast-food restaurant when he saw several employees run out of the store in a panic, screaming for help. They told him that an armed robber had entered the store and was demanding cash while threatening other employees with a gun. The deliveryman grabbed his firearm from his truck and ran into the store. A gunbattle ensued, and the robber, who was shot several times, fled the scene. The wounded robber was later arrested. The local sheriff’s department named the deliveryman an honorary deputy and inducted him into its Posse Hall of Fame. T

Why should it matter? ONE life saved? Are you so fcking PRO CRIME that you want ALL the victims of scumbags killed? https://www.heritage.org/firearms/commentary/11-more-examples-how-firearms-save-gun-owners-lives-property At a time when some gun control advocates appear intent on painting lawful gun ownership as a danger to society, and the Second Amendment as little more than an outdated protection of a person’s right to hunt, it’s important to remember the regular role armed citizens play in defending inalienable rights. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention affirmed in a 2013 report, almost all major studies on defensive gun uses have concluded that Americans use firearms in self-defense between 500,000 and 3 million times every year. The vast majority of them will receive little or no media attention. Here's an original idea: If you don't like guns, don't buy one. And mind your of fcking business as far as others exerting their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

Actually SVB's investment actions led to its downfall. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/silicon-valley-bank-committed-elementary-errors-banking-larry-summers-says Silicon Valley Bank committed 'one of the most elementary errors in banking,' Larry Summers says Silicon Valley Bank, the nation's 16th-largest bank, failed because its managers made a textbook mistake, according to former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. Summers, a Harvard University professor who served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, said Monday the bank "committed one of the most elementary errors in banking: borrowing money in the short term and investing in the long term." SVB collapsed Friday after depositors ran on the bank, which didn't have cash on hand to cover their withdrawals. It was the second-biggest bank failure in U.S. history and the largest since Washington Mutual went under in 2008. What happened is fairly simple: when interest rates were at historic lows, SVB invested depositors' funds in long-term Treasury bonds. But as the Federal Reserve increased interest rates to combat inflation, the price of those bonds cratered, taking SVB with it.

North Carolina passes its own DON'T SAY GAY bill

Pretty scary when you remember that Romney and the Bush family are GOP.
