  1. You are lying, blatantly. Shamelessly. She is not in prison for her political views, and you know it. Try again. Why should this criminal, caught red handed and convicted by a jury of her peers, not do the time she earned?
  2. He's too busy throwing gasoline around to fiddle.
  3. She's a four-time felon, dummy. She broke the law in serious ways. She's a criminal. Why should she not be held accountable for her crimes?
  4. Imagine being so bad at your job that you are rescuing other democracies around the world from a similar fate?
  5. Suuuure you did. Things are so bad in Canada that your poor kids can't even be satisfied by owning just one home! What is the world coming to?!? They must flee the country! You're such a phony.
  6. Nobody is "siding with criminals," dummy, aside from understanding that even those accused of crime are entitled to due process, because the preservation of due process is in everyone's essential interest.
  7. That's not what "racist" means, nor is DEI racist. Being aware of and consciously counteracting what are sometimes even subconscious biases has nothing to do with racial superiority nor antagonism. If you have a general-purpose organization that consolidates power around any one demographic characteristic, it is, by definition, not reflective of the population is serves, and is therefore not serving them as well as it could. If it's all white, that's a problem. If it's all men, that's a problem. Such organizations are dysfunctional, in that they cannot effectively serve a diverse population. <-- those are both realistic and common, but hypothetically the same would be true of general-purpose organizations dominated exclusively by other demographics. A diverse group better represents the population. It better incorporates a full spectrum of viewpoints. And it gets better results because of those things. Equity is about fair treatment. Inclusion means being welcoming of the myriad on non-harm variations in our society, so that everyone is free to speak up absent fear and intimidation. <-- and every single one of those things makes an organization stronger. White men who have enjoyed centuries of unearned hegemony in organizations large and small are, somewhat understandably, resentful of the erosion of our privilege. That's why a scared subset of white men have engineered this virulent backlash to basic decency and common sense. It's not to their advantage, so they will fight it. But it certainly is to the advantage of society as a whole. It's not just one thing, though that's what you chose to talk about. They chose to dismantle that exhibit. The person to whom the artifacts are being returned is upset about it. It was neither expected nor welcome news. But of course the owners of such artifacts see value in a truthful telling of Black history and will be understandably upset by the concerted effort to whitewash and sanitize the experience.
  8. Eh, you told us that you bought them all homes. Whoops... 🙄
  9. Sanity? If you believe in some claim for which there is neither reasonable argument nor supporting evidence, then an all-powerful being will make your future amazing--just trust! The MAGA correlation kinda just writes itself...
  10. Except they aren't. As before, it's manifested almost entirely as government subsidized real-estate grabs. DEI is not racist. That's some completely fictional bullshit they sold to you. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the superiority of any race. Race is, in fact, just one component, and even then the intention is to encourage organizational populations that are more representative of our broader population. You can't make the argument plausible, but you can repeat the nonsense you've seen on twitter. Sorry that you're so threatened by an inclusive environment and the erosion of privilege. You chickenshits simply know that you can't compete on a level playing field, so will fight tooth and nail to prevent any leveling. Again, complete bullshit. You know full well--okay, maybe not you, but the architects of project 2025--that erasing political power of marginalized groups starts with erasing their history. It's not an accident or a small thing that Trump has inserted himself at the Kennedy Center or Vance at the Smithsonian. This vile administration is actively waging war against arts, culture and history to establish an American Gleichschaltung. You have an infantile understanding of what constitutes refutation.
  11. One in a litany of statements that on its own would have been entirely disqualifying back when the Republican voting bloc still had standards.
  12. Bullshit. The MAGA movement, in spite of the ironic naming, has nothing whatsoever to do with the "greatness" of America's past. At no point in our history have we been anything like the authoritarian nightmare Trump is selling, because at no point in our history have we had such an apathetic, disengaged and ignorant electorate. Scapegoating immigrants and a miniscule population of powerless trans people is not an actual platform, but if Trump and his rich cronies can convince disaffected Americans that those marginalized groups are the problem rather than the emerging oligarchy then they can continue to concentrate wealth and power. Meanwhile he besmirches the dignity of the office--the sacred responsibility--by turning the power of the government against political dissenters and prosecuting personal vendettas. Trump's vision of America is not America. It's Trumpistan.
  13. Trump is literally paying for treason. $30 million dollars paid to attack our capital and hunt our elected officials. Where's DOGE on this one?
  14. Lol. You are a lunatic. Not remotely true. You can watch her on history deep inside the capital climbing through the smashed window of the the final barrier between the mob and the trapped legislators. The cop is a hero who saved our elected officials from a mob of crazies.
  15. The First Step Act? You mean the bipartisan (and veto-proof) bill that Trump vocally opposed before his son-in-law persuaded him that it would be advantageous? Opportunity Zones? You mean the opportunity for wealthy people to avoid capital gains by buying up rental properties in poor areas? (This could have worked better if the incentive were for business investment. Alas there's the rub. It's almost all real estate.) And the wealth gap is basically static since the 80s. Small peaks and valleys if you zoom in enough, but it really hasn't budged. That little peak there? It's housing prices. Black wealth is disproportionately in housing, so it got a nudge upward. But it's not new wealth, jobs, income or anything else to signal meaningful gains. Those gaps are largely consistent as well. You're looking at a mirage. Trump is actively destroying DEI efforts, repealing anti-discrimination measures, removing Black history from museums and schools, lionizing confederate generals--and so much more. The idea that he's any kind of friend to minorities in America is downright laughable.
  16. I believe he's referring to the woman who was part of a howling mob that was threatening to kill Pelosi and Pence, who smashed their way into the capital and chased our legislators until they were cornered -- and then broke through the windows of the final barricade and started climbing through. Or as Trump called them, his people. They were probably joking about the killing stuff and were just smashing through the barricade because they were so eager to shake the hands of the legislators and thank them for their dedication to public service.
  17. I do still have a vote, for the time being. And while half of American voters are comfortable with moral bankruptcy, they are not comfortable with financial bankruptcy. What a coincidence...
  18. Yes, if someone were to concoct a recipe for recession--or more likely stagflation--this is it. Trump is doing literally everything he can do drive us there, and there's nothing to do but watch the car crash from the back seat. The routes to avoid that outcome are dwindling quicky. We're going to lose 5 years of prosperity and our international standing all in one fell swoop.
  19. Sure, you get it.🙄 Reagan, Bush, GW Bush, and an endless string of Republican legislative leadership from Dole McConnell--literal decades of Republican identity--weren't "real" Republicans. It's the populist movement that only appeared this decade who were secretly the "real" Republicans all along. Just nobody knew it! That theory is next-level stupid. Even for you folks in the velcro shoes club. Jeebus. And the stupidity blended with alt-reality fiction is just too much to take seriously.
  20. Let's be clear, there are people who legitimately believe that this tariff strategy is a viable tactic--not many, and not very bright, but those true believers exist. They think the US will endure a painful transition and emerge from it to something "better." However, NO ONE actually believes that the current economic shitstorm is Biden's fault rather than a direct product of Trump's schizophrenic trade war tariff bullshit. They all know. Every single one. They are just lying, gutless simps. If you think tanking the economy is a long term strategic play (it isn't, but whatever) then just farking own it. It's still tanking the economy, and it's still expressly, explicitly and exclusively Trump's doing.
  21. You're not getting it, dummy. Do you not know what RINO means? Republican in Name Only. If, from the leadership to the rank-and-file Republicans were characterized by common values and a shared platform, that's what membership means. They weren't Republicans in Name Only. They were Republicans. -- The radical takeover that's happened over the last 10 years is what's new, and assuming the Republican name. And those people are not "real patriots." They are actively trading away everything that America has stood for in exchange for expedient execution of a hateful agenda. They prefer a fast-moving dictatorship to democracy. That's simply where they're at, and why they don't object to the lawlessness and the constitutional crisis unfolding.
  22. This is a bright spot in the political landscape. Canadians are generally very decent people and it's great to see them reject MAGA/MCGA in favor of decency. It's unfortunate that it takes watching the US fall apart to remind other democracies to protect what they have.
  23. That's wildly stupid. Just made-up nonsense. The "Council of Presidents" is some random crap you read on Twitter. And no, nobody opened the border. And no, reverting to non-COVID status quo of border law is, by definition, not radical. No, they didn't fund Hamas. Nor were parents persecuted, etc. And holding people accountable for breaking the law is not lawfare. You're just a full-on raging loon. Like you've been mainlining Newsmax concentrate or something. It's weird to see people enter another reality entirely. This again? Can you identify any employment or income programs that Trump put in place for Black and Hispanic Americans? Oh, wait. No. He just happened to inherit a robust economy approaching full employment. And in which Black employment and wages lagged behind the rest of the economy just as much as they always have. If he had closed that gap you'd have a story, but what you are actually trying to do is give him credit for something he didn't prioritize or cause in the least. MAGA clearly isn't about any America we've had before. Rather, it's about hate of the other--marginalization of the already marginalized. A reclamation of power by white men who are (probably rightly) scared that many of them can't compete without the benefit of privilege.
  24. As with most things, I don't think you've thought this through. We didn't have RINOs. We just had Republicans. That's just what Republicans were for many decades. The right wing radicals taking over that party are the ones who are outliers adopting a new name. Right now it sucks to be any American who believes in American values. People who believe in the virtue of the constitution, in checks and balances, in the rule of law, civil rights and democracy in general are not having a very good time, watching 250 years of idealism unravel does indeed suck.
  25. ^^Exhibit A. Joe Biden didn't do anything to the system. His administration was a return to normalcy and a successful economic recovery. That's it. No one is buying "Sleepy Joe" as a radical reformer. That's asinine. You probably thought you had conservative values. Turns out you didn't love America as much as you hated the idea of "the other" thriving in America. "If I can't have it to myself, no one can. Burn it down."
