election integrity Election Fraud in Texas
Hodad replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A. Vote harvesting is not election fraud. It is sometimes a crime though. and election crimes are real (just look at the sitting president) but in-person voter fraud (the non-issue that the voter suppression party uses to justify a crusade for voter ID) is virtually nonexistent. B. Your dumb victimhood narrative is pure nonsense. Oh, and who made the initial accusation in this case? Another Democrat. C. This kind of petty election shenanigan is really only relevant in penny ante races where a few votes can make a meaningful difference. D. Paxton is the grossest of political creatures, and has himself been accused of, indicted on and suspended for multiple felonies. Very low confidence that any of this is real. Talk to us when he gets a conviction. All of this intense right-wing noise about voter fraud, ballot harvesting, illegals voting, double voting etc. exists for one reason: to undermine Americans' confidence in our democratic systems. That's it. It's not based in any way, shape or form on reality. It's not based on evidence--indeed, there is none. They simply know that if they create fear and mistrust it will divide Americans and pave the way for authoritarianism to "save" our country from a mysterious "other." -
tradewar England Agrees To New Trade Deal
Hodad replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Absolutely. I regular ask myself whether I have something to say on a topic. Clearly, you do not. I didn't really mind curt and abrasive. It's vapid and boring that I find so depressing. You will reply endlessly, even when you clearly have nothing to add. It seems that in your mind the simple act of clicking the reply button constitutes debate. You're allegedly an adult, so this is concerning behavior. -
tradewar England Agrees To New Trade Deal

Do you every wake up in the morning and wonder, "What's the point? Why do I exist?" Because if you haven't, I'd recommend it. Maybe we'd get fewer posts like ^^this, which wouldn't pass muster in a third-grade schoolyard debate. -

tradewar England Agrees To New Trade Deal

This is more like Trump's "concept of a plan" for health care. But Trump definitely has a plan. It goes like this: Create a crisis. Take one step toward resolving the crisis. Pat yourself on the back for days for thinking about cleaning up your own mess. Bask in the embarrassing adulation of devoted sycophants -
You have no idea what the law is. You have no idea what you are talking about in general. You're just a foreigner who is weirdly obsessed with the US and weirdly devoted to the big orange buffoon in the White House. There are laws. There is a process. They are not being followed. This abominable president, who quite recently swore an oath to uphold the constitution, now says he doesn't know if he has to uphold the constitution.
-
I know that you're not very bright, but stop and think this through for a minute. How do you imagine, without due process, that one determines the legal status of a person scooped up off the street? That's why due process exists, to ensure that the law is followed and people aren't subject to the unchecked whims of a dictator. Due process is for everyone, every time. It's essential.

As before--and for the MANY reasons identified, your "point" is poorly argues and quite asinine. Apparently there's no number of time I can say it in order to make it sink in, but this affects FAR more people than those actually here illegally. Whether that be people who are harassed for fitting "the profile," people traumatically abducted for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or individuals like the 4 year old citizen with stage 4 cancer who was shipped to Honduras alongside her undocumented mother--without medicine, btw. I'm sure that will end well. This is your idea of tough love? And you wonder why someone would question your empathy, or your basic decency as a human being? 🙄 Trump authorizes ICE to target courthouses, schools and churches Since you're not affected, you clearly aren't paying attention to what he's doing, taking the deliberate step of authorizing ICE to go into these places. Patently false. ICE is "going after" anybody they encounter who looks the part. Again, you don't pay attention because you aren't affected. This is an explicit and deliberate policy change. ICE lets local officials stop immigrants on the streets as task force program is back The Trump administration has re-opened the 287(g) program that led to abuses in the 2000s. As the Trump administration pushes for more deportations, the government has revived a long-abandoned program that lets local and state law enforcement challenge people on the street about immigration status — and possibly arrest them for deportation. So far this week, state and county agencies in Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas have already signed up for the “task force” program that was dropped in 2012 after abuses including racial profiling were discovered, costing tens of millions in lawsuits. New Hampshire State Police will sign an agreement soon. Thanks for the op-ed. Meanwhile, the data still shows that Blacks are disproportionately killed by police, but also disproportionately targeted and disadvantaged at literally every stage of the justice system. They are more likely to be: Scrutinized Stopped Arrested Charged Convicted Assigned harsher sentences Sentenced to death ^^This is not in a vacuum. This is apples for apples, like for like in terms of actual offense. Not that you'll be bothered by that, because race doesn't matter (to the people not disadvantaged by race)!

My assumptions aren't assumptions, and they are not wrong, so what is your goddamn point? There's no mystery about you, so stop pretending. It makes you look even more ridiculous. Again, your sociopathic lack of empathy is on full display. The vast majority of people affected by this have not done anything more than you have. They just happen to have brown skin, so they are being targeted for "interviews." This has been going on for decades, but is turned up to 11 under Trump, now that he's sending ICE to schools and churches, which used to be off limits. Children are afraid. Their parents are afraid. And your response is that I'm racist for acknowledging that fact? Jeebus. No, you don't worry about those things because you're white, and in Trumpistan you are favored and protected. ICE is absolutely scrutinizing and interviewing people who fit the visual profile of immigrants. People don't walk around with immigrant armbands (yet) so ICE does what they have always done, just more aggressively. Again, that you pretend that this VERY obvious fact is not a part of your fairy-tale post-racial world is just a glaring lack of empathy. Not only do you not give a shit about the suffering of others, you pretend like it's not even happening. It's disgusting. On this we agree. You are actively trying to pretend that race is not involved here. As if ICE has x-ray vision to see into people's immigration history. ICE visually profiles. ICE linguistically profiles. In the same way that police scrutinize and harass Black Americans based on visual profile rather than on invisible attributes.
-
Assumptions? You are all those things, dumbass. And if you weren't, you wouldn't be this oblivious. Your lack of empathy is evident every time you post, with ^^this latest bit of nonsense being a real gem, even for you. You can't even manage to imagine what it's like to be targeted--to have your children targeted--by law enforcement because they look like what people think an illegal looks like. You know full well that ICE isn't shaking down white kids looking for illegals. You just don't farking care what this experience is like for others because it will never be an inconvenience--let alone an existential threat--to you and yours. The luxury of not worrying about such things is the essence of privilege. And you think it's funny to be aware of it? Jeebus. Not being aware of it on your own is a lack of empathy. Not being aware of it after it's been explicitly pointed out just being dense. Why don't you "get" what is patently obvious, even when explained? Because you don't simply don't want to.
-
🙄OFFS, it's not farking racist to be aware of the basic goddamn fact that that people ARE treated differently based on the color of their skin (and many other factors) that absolutely shape and differentiate their experience and perception of the world. That's why it's essential to collect diverse input: to see what it is that you're not seeing from your own position. Make friends with a person of color or a member of some other marginalized group and you might discover that your experience as a cis, hetero, white male is dramatically different than the experience of people outside that position of privilege. For example, you're cheering on Trump's rushed, careless--sometimes lawless--deportations. Whereas brown people are getting hassled outside of schools and churches. Do they feel differently about that? Yes. Do they experience those policies in a meaningfully different way? Yes. Pull your head out of your ass, check your privilege, and stop telling people that you "won't tolerate" acknowledgement of race as a factor in most aspects of American life. What you "won't tolerate' is the reality they live with every day. Jeebus, get some perspective.
-
Suuuure you did. Things are so bad in Canada that your poor kids can't even be satisfied by owning just one home! What is the world coming to?!? They must flee the country! You're such a phony.

Nobody is "siding with criminals," dummy, aside from understanding that even those accused of crime are entitled to due process, because the preservation of due process is in everyone's essential interest.

That's not what "racist" means, nor is DEI racist. Being aware of and consciously counteracting what are sometimes even subconscious biases has nothing to do with racial superiority nor antagonism. If you have a general-purpose organization that consolidates power around any one demographic characteristic, it is, by definition, not reflective of the population is serves, and is therefore not serving them as well as it could. If it's all white, that's a problem. If it's all men, that's a problem. Such organizations are dysfunctional, in that they cannot effectively serve a diverse population. <-- those are both realistic and common, but hypothetically the same would be true of general-purpose organizations dominated exclusively by other demographics. A diverse group better represents the population. It better incorporates a full spectrum of viewpoints. And it gets better results because of those things. Equity is about fair treatment. Inclusion means being welcoming of the myriad on non-harm variations in our society, so that everyone is free to speak up absent fear and intimidation. <-- and every single one of those things makes an organization stronger. White men who have enjoyed centuries of unearned hegemony in organizations large and small are, somewhat understandably, resentful of the erosion of our privilege. That's why a scared subset of white men have engineered this virulent backlash to basic decency and common sense. It's not to their advantage, so they will fight it. But it certainly is to the advantage of society as a whole. It's not just one thing, though that's what you chose to talk about. They chose to dismantle that exhibit. The person to whom the artifacts are being returned is upset about it. It was neither expected nor welcome news. But of course the owners of such artifacts see value in a truthful telling of Black history and will be understandably upset by the concerted effort to whitewash and sanitize the experience.

Eh, you told us that you bought them all homes. Whoops... 🙄

Except they aren't. As before, it's manifested almost entirely as government subsidized real-estate grabs. DEI is not racist. That's some completely fictional bullshit they sold to you. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the superiority of any race. Race is, in fact, just one component, and even then the intention is to encourage organizational populations that are more representative of our broader population. You can't make the argument plausible, but you can repeat the nonsense you've seen on twitter. Sorry that you're so threatened by an inclusive environment and the erosion of privilege. You chickenshits simply know that you can't compete on a level playing field, so will fight tooth and nail to prevent any leveling. Again, complete bullshit. You know full well--okay, maybe not you, but the architects of project 2025--that erasing political power of marginalized groups starts with erasing their history. It's not an accident or a small thing that Trump has inserted himself at the Kennedy Center or Vance at the Smithsonian. This vile administration is actively waging war against arts, culture and history to establish an American Gleichschaltung. You have an infantile understanding of what constitutes refutation.

One in a litany of statements that on its own would have been entirely disqualifying back when the Republican voting bloc still had standards.

Bullshit. The MAGA movement, in spite of the ironic naming, has nothing whatsoever to do with the "greatness" of America's past. At no point in our history have we been anything like the authoritarian nightmare Trump is selling, because at no point in our history have we had such an apathetic, disengaged and ignorant electorate. Scapegoating immigrants and a miniscule population of powerless trans people is not an actual platform, but if Trump and his rich cronies can convince disaffected Americans that those marginalized groups are the problem rather than the emerging oligarchy then they can continue to concentrate wealth and power. Meanwhile he besmirches the dignity of the office--the sacred responsibility--by turning the power of the government against political dissenters and prosecuting personal vendettas. Trump's vision of America is not America. It's Trumpistan.
