The Great Big 2024 Election Battle Thread!
Hodad replied to CdnFox's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yes, dummy, Trump has been charged for the documents. You refuse to read the indictments, so you remain ignorant. Just read them. He didn't just have them. He lied about having them, refused to return them, and showed them off to people just to stroke his ego. -
Trump wants Putin to have his slaughter

Oh, I've seen it. Flushed a huge one earlier today. -
I could post the charts and graphs a dozen MORE times and it still wouldn't make you smart enough to understand them or honest enough to acknowledge the facts. If you'd like to debate (hah!) any of those facts, go ahead and pick one. You'll be wrong, slink away, and a week later be posting the exact same lies again. I watched you lie for weeks about the simple fact of rain at the inauguration. You continue to claim that you watch video news days before it aired. You're a hack and a worthless, compulsive liar. It's no wonder you're part of the MAGA cult.
-
Again, you are completely disconnected from reality. We have a thriving economy--recovered from the crash under Trump. We are still energy independent--and producing more energy, actually. Illegal immigration increased under Trump. Again, you're welcome to your feelings, but the facts are what they are.

You know full well wars didn't spring up because of Biden. That's lunacy. You also know Trump made the deal to give Afghanistan back to the Taliban and withdrew all but the final skeleton crew. (Another mess left for his successor.) Final extraction was not great, but it's hard to imagine how it could have gone better with the scant personnel in country. Was going to be rough either way. You say that stores are still being looted--so apparently Biden didn't fix everything that was happening under Trump? The "border crisis" didn't exist under Trump? The streets of San Francisco were clean under Trump? Inflation was high, but we know why and the Fed seems to have navigated the soft landing. What you've posted here is a childish tantrum--just a list of things you don't like in the world and for which you want to inexplicably blame Biden. Can't you complain about something Biden actually did or caused? Is there a policy from the WH causing harm? Maybe talk about that. It is an undeniable fact that America and Americans are better off in almost any measure from when Biden took over. It's not even debatable. The recovery under Biden has been extraordinary. Biden can't claim all the credit, but you sound like a deranged fool pretending he made things worse. It's laughable.

Is Hate Speech Free Speech?

Again, you don't have to get this information from a news source of any kind. You can look up any of those statistics from primary sources. Hell, you don't even have to know how to do research. You're perfectly capable of looking at the Dow today vs under Trump. -
Honestly, that's so gross. The active, shameless efforts in places like Louisiana and Ohio to defy legal requirements to deny voters proper representation should be illegal. Oh wait, it already is.🫣

Your understanding of what Mike Pence could have done is wildly incorrect. The ONLY thing constitutional activity of the VP on the day of certification is to verify the count. Each state has already certified it's individual results. Pence has no power to ask for a recount (not like one more recount would have changed anything anyway). And the vote MUSY be certified that day. So you have the wrong information. It's now your responsibility to take in the accurate information and reassess. You're welcome to look it up if you have any cause to doubt. And no, by nearly every metric the US is better off under Biden that it was under Trump--and VASTLY better off than the dumpster fire that Biden inherited. I know you are typically not interested in data and facts, but employment, wages stocks, disposable income, etc.--all up. Deficits are down. We're dramatically more trusted, liked and respected in the international community. Before he bungled then pandemic The Trump economy was okay. It very neatly stayed on the same trajectory that he inherited. He made a lot of promises about record growth and tried to cut taxes and ran elective deficits to make it happen, but he couldn't deliver explosive growth. And then it fell off a cliff at the end. Obama and Biden both had to manage a recovery from the disasters of their Republican predecessors to build healthy, stable economies. Now Republicans want to try to tell us they're better on the economy. Lol can't make this stuff up. Oh wait, they can! -

Because the winner of one party's primary wins the presidency? A. I think it's pretty rare for leaders to literally lead troops executing a coup. That's small time. B. The insurrection is secondary to the main plot of the coup. The heart of it was the Eastman coup memo, the fake electors, and the plan to have Pence either unilaterally declare Trump the winner or to force a contingent election that would install Trump. Having failed to produce any evidence--or even a plausible theory--to overturn the election results, Trump and team actively tried to bypass the electorate entirely and contrive an illegal means to simply refuse to leave office. To overturn the voters and end the democratic experiment in the US. Mike Pence saved the republic. It's alarming that you are rooting for Trump without even knowing the extremity of his unfitness. It's been well documented in the media and in Jack Smith's indictment documentation. -
why does Trump love Putin?
Hodad replied to godzilla's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
More Russian help with the election? Debts repaid? But he certainly does fawn over Putin and the other autocrats while plotting his coup to overturn a free and fair election. Beyond that though, I think he's simply a clinical narcissist who craves the approval of the world's "strong men." Daddy issues. -
I don't think you understand. Both of these businesses are run by immigrants. Again, I don't know- or particularly care- whether they came to the US through one channel or another. All I care is that they abide by the laws of this state as licensed business operators. I care that they are hard-working, productive, contributing members of this society. And again, I don't think you understand labor laws. Undocumented workers are STILL protected by all the same labor laws, including minimum wage, overtime, health and safety, etc. The only real difference is that if they're using fake information they are paying into systems like SS that they will never get to use. ETA: It's kind of funny that liberals tend to be on the "free-market" side of this issue. Conservatives usually support healthy competition across sectors. But then when it's brown people competing with white people or foreigners competing with native-born citizens, suddenly they aren't so interested in competition. Hm...
-
They aren't slaves, ya kook. They are eager, hungry entrepreneurs building businesses and futures. And the laborers (which include a lot of friends and family, in my cases) certainly make more than $7 an hour in these parts. I won't pretend to know their full operational overhead or how they pay their employees but, for back-of-napkin math... 4 cleaners come for 2 hours at a rate of $200. That's revenue of about $25 an hour per employee. If we conservatively estimate payroll taxes at 20% (split roughly evenly) 10% payroll tax for the employer leaves them with about $22.50 per hour for employee wages. The business is mostly labor, but there are some supplies and equipment. I expect the employees are making above the $16 an hour minimum wage for this area. They work hard and give me 8 hours of frenetic cleaning for a lot fewer dollars than I'd bill myself. And they make a lot more money and have a better standard of living--and a much better future for their children--than they would in the places they left of fled. Works out well for everyone--except the Americans who don't want compete in the marketplace for unskilled or low-skilled labor.
-
This surprises me. There are challenges with immigration--legal or illegal--but it's well researched that immigrants of either variety end up being a net positive on the economy. Most are hard working people just trying to build a better life. I like being able to afford groundskeeping and a cleaning service. The laborers have a better life than they could in their countries of origin, and they bust their asses working so that their children can become doctors and architects and poets--and so that their grandchildren or great grandchildren can become lazy, entitled Americans lol. It's a win-win-win. For the record, I have no idea how or when those people I (fractionally) employ came to the US, but they have licensed businesses and I'm happy with the rates and service.

Do you know what a primary is? It's one party. Republicans make up less than a third of the US population. In Iowa, half of Republicans wanted someone else to be president. There is no demonstration of popularity. You are very confused. And no, I don't believe he will. America is politically ill, but even then I don't think the country is actually going to elect a man who tried to stage a coup. -

Dude. you're talking about the Republican primary. He got half the votes in a primary. Half of Republicans think someone else should be President, let alone Democrats and independents. If you think that relates in any way to his popularity in general--or specifically in 2020--then you should re-think that. -

🤣The only things you "proved conclusively" is that you have no idea how to evaluate efficacy AND that you are so politically entrenched that you have no interest in learning. I am definitely not going to recapitulate the stupid vaccine conversation again, or the reasons why the most vulnerable were also the most vaccinated, but suffice it to say that you have not uncovered the secret information that the world's doctors, scientists, epidemiologists and academics have somehow overlooked. You're just another internet kook who thinks he he understands climate better than climatologists and vaccines better than the epidemiologists and virologists--while getting even the basics wrong. I don't know how one develops such illusions of grandeur. Too many hugs as a child? Too few? Who knows? -

Yes, I suspect most Americans are aware that mortality was dramatically higher among the unvaccinated. Again you wouldn't want a pure count. You'd want to look at mortality within each group. -

NPR, PBS, WSJ, Forbes are all good. They cater to educated audiences who prioritize credibility and completeness. Really, most of the media is basically fine, except for a few bad apples, but those listed are among the better. But the point was not to convince you to pick a news source, but to look at original sources. Look at the court cases. Look at the audits--conducted by Republicans in Monday in most cases--and ask yourself whether all the numerous, diverse and varied parties involved are in a conspiracy to hide the truth, or whether a handful of self-interested people are trying to manipulate you through lies. Put some thinking into it. When Tucker Carlson is commiserating with his peers about having to lie to the audience and about how there never was any evidence of a stolen election and how they all knew it was bullshit, you choose not to believe those candid remarks. But when the cameras are on and he tells you a different story, you buy it--literally. It's a willing suspension of disbelief. At that point, you are as much to blame as those manipulating you. And FWIW, there was no conspiracy to make Trump seem unpopular. He was unpopular all along. He lost the popular vote to already unpopular Hillary Clinton, and things went downhill from there. -
