  1. Nope. The only data you presented said that a little over half of the top richest people didn't inherit their wealth. However, that data did NOT say that those people were born into poverty. Most rich people, like Bill Gates, didn't inherit their wealth, but they were born into the upper-class. Again, nope. The data shows that people who go from poor to rich are tiny outliars. But you're ignoring the real point, which is that upper-class people have more opportunities. You keep running from this point because you don't want to admit that you don't really believe in equality of opportunity. Bullshit. Leveling the playing field is not equality of outcome. In a socialist society, we would still have rich people, we just wouldn't have poor people. Once again, you're running from the actual argument. I'm not saying poor people will definitely fail. I'm saying that people have more opportunities based on the circumstances they're born into. But again, you have to run from this point because you know I'm right. So instead, you strawman the argument.
  2. ? We literally have Republicans on tape now talking about taking voting centers off college campuses to make it harder for younger people to vote. And you fashies are still pretending it's all fake news.
  3. Look, I get that you wanted the media to only talk about him being a criminal. But he was obviously more than that, so they showed his human side too. They never denied he did bad things, they acknowledged his criminal history, but they also acknowledged that he was a human being who didn't deserve to be murdered by cops. What this is really about is you being a boot-licker for police, so you don't like that people saw him as a person at all.
  4. The links show how Republicans are doing everything they can to make it harder to vote. For me, that's bad, because I'm a democracy-enjoyer. Since you're fascist, I guess you think this is good.
  5. The NRA funds the Republicans to keep them from doing anything on gun control.
  6. Why? Explain to me why kids shouldn't be tolerant of trannies the same way they should be tolerant of other minority groups.
  7. But this isn't complex. Some kids have a mom and a dad, other kids have two moms or two dads. I'm not saying we need to teach kids about fetishes. We should just represent gay couples the same way we already represent straight couples. We should have Disney movies where the main character is gay or bi, much like ALL the others have been straight. No, but considering the right-wing establishment is trying to make kids hate trans people, it would be good to have a counter to that. Plus, representation matters. Look at the Scully Effect. During that period, people didn't hate women, but we still had regressive ideas on what women could do. Representation changed that.
  8. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3962667-top-republican-lawyer-tells-donors-conservatives-should-work-to-limit-voting-on-college-campuses/ https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/voting-laws-roundup-october-2021 https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/19-states-enacted-voting-restrictions-2021-rcna8342
  9. You're talking about fringe cases. The vast majority of Antifa protests have been legal.
  10. That's not what the data shows. The vast majority of 1% rich people either inherited their wealth or were at least born into the upper-class. You keep going back to arguing that it's possible to be successful even if you're born into poverty, which I'm not arguing against. My point is that people have more or less advantages depending on the circumstances they're born into. And everything the comic demonstrated is true. Rich kids can go to good schools and concentrate on their studies. They are less likely to go to crappy schools or need a part time job. This means rich kids have more advantages and thus more opportunities than poor kids. Getting connections is extremely important. People are way more likely to hire their friend's kids then some random kids, even if the random kids are more qualified. No, it's about leveling the playing field. Everyone has opportunities for success no matter their circumstances. But if you believe in equality of opportunity, you want to reduce the classist inequalities. Even if that was true, you would be the exception. If we want to know what role class actually plays, we need to look at rates. And we'd still have to acknowledge the reality of things like economics and IQ development, networking, and so on if we want to evaluate opportunities and class. Do you think there are no high paying jobs in North Korea? They have an upper-class there that, technically, anyone can make it into. However, people in western democracies have more opportunities. Likewise, anyone can make it in America, but if you're born into good economic circumstances, you have more opportunities. Oh, so they need a better education? Yes! I agree! And your economic circumstances affect what kind of education you're going to get growing up.
  11. Well America has a problem with guns and mass murder. But we agree that some gun control would reduce the mass murders, so that's good. Wow. I didn't know you were a big government liberal. I thought you believe that adults could do what they want with their own bodies. Geez. Damn. Thought I was talking to a freedom-enjoyer here. Oh, sweeeeety. You need to learn the difference between liberals and leftists. Leftists love guns. Liberals are the hoplophobes. That's incredibly immature.
  12. So what's wrong with teaching kids that it's okay to be trans? Do you think just by acknowledging that, kids are going to want to be trans?
  13. The media wasn't saying he was a gentle giant. We all knew he was a criminal. The point is that he shouldn't have been murdered. Same for George Floyd. No network was denying that the guy had a lot of issues. The point is that he was murdered by police. The Democrats and most MSM condemned the rioting. You're repeating lies you heard on right-wing media. While I completely oppose rioting, it wasn't a fabrication. The cops completely abused their power, just like with George Floyd and Tyre Nichols. Even if you think that's what they were trying to do, the fact still remains that when it got out that Smollett was lying, all of the media reported on it. They didn't just ignore their mistakes like Fox does. They also didn't blatantly lie, like Fox does.
  14. Republicans have been using the Big Lie as an excuse to make voter-restriction laws wherever they can. If they were trying to seize control of elections from local authorities in a bubble, I would say that's really shady and unacceptable, but it's not in a bubble, it's part of this larger shift against democracy. Part of this is taking advantage of Trumpism and the Big Lie. But it's also that Republicans don't have any popular policies anymore. They've given up on winning without cheating. That is some epic next level bullshit-ass bullshit. Hillary Clinton conceded the next day when she lost. Donald Trump tried to end democracy when he lost. Yeah, Hillary complained a lot about losing, who cares? She accepted the results. She didn't demand that her fans march to DC and demand they take back the country because she couldn't handle losing.
  15. It's really not. You're saying trans people are bad because their transness is abnormal. Well, blondness is also abnormal. So what? Abnormal doesn't mean bad. So then clearly we need more trans representation. And again, representation isn't about making people want to be trans, it's about showing people that it's okay if someone is trans. Not only has DeSantis failed to reign Disney in, but his feud is actually costing him support now. Disney is the biggest employer in Florida, this was a suicide mission on Meatball Ron's part. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/18/chris-christie-ron-desantis-disney-00092505 Leg dich nicht mit der Maus an.
  16. The Republicans are trying to steal elections as they accuse Democrats of having stole the 2020 election. It's like this for literally everything. The Right accuses LGBT people of being groomers, when really the Right votes against bills to end child marriages.
  17. There's a reason why mass shootings are common, but mass stabbings aren't. Guns are way more dangerous. That's why when someone wants to go on a school massacre, they use a gun. They don't try to drive a truck into the school. And yet America still has a mass shooting problem. Hey! We agree. Now if only we could get the Republicans to support mental health policies instead of voting against ANY bill that in ANY way addresses mental health.
  18. Not really, but even if that was true, the fact remains that they admitted they were wrong. Let me know when Fox admits that they were not only wrong, but knowingly lied, about the 2020 election.
  19. That's beside the point. The point is that people are more likely to be successful based on their economic upbringing. Yes, most upper-class people won't be billionaires, but most upper-class people will remain in the upper-class, while most poor people will always be poor. If you want equality of opportunity, then you want poor people to have more opportunities which we could achieve through welfare programs like universal basic income. That's insane. Rich people have connections with other rich people. Like the comic showed, a person born into wealth can easily get a job working for the rich people in their circle. The connections that poor people have are not ones that can give them good jobs. And that's not even getting into the roles that family, education, and health play. In an effort to manufacture consent for capitalism, conservatives will sometimes say "I never got a job from a poor person!" And yeah, rich people are the ones who give people jobs. But this means if you grow up in those upper-class circles, you're more likely to know a rich person who will give you a job. Nobody is saying the opportunity isn't there. The left-wing argument is that your economic situation dictates how many opportunities you have. There are opportunities in North Korea too. But there are MORE opportunities in the West. Likewise, there are opportunities if you're poor, but there are MORE if you're rich. Both. Rich kids grow up with more opportunities than poor kids. However, a poor kid in a rich neighborhood has more opportunities than a poor kid in a ghetto. This is why the data shows that we can predict success based on a person's zip code. Educations is part of this. Like I said earlier, rich kids go to better schools and have more time to concentrate on education. There are really so many factors here that have to do with economics. The people you know, your education, your health, all of these things affect your chance at success. Just the fact that your health growing up shapes your IQ alone should make us concerned.
  20. So you agree that it makes sense to have gun control, since mass shootings harm other people. Whereas people should be allowed to poison themselves, because they're not directly harming other people, yes? Actually, food is a good comparison because while it's legal to eat as much junk food as you want, we still have health regulations. A restaurant can't poison their customers because, again, that is harming other people. Well I don't blame the gun manufacturers. I blame the law-makers for not making red flag laws and closing the loopholes. I never said people who make guns allowed the shootings to happen. That's just an excuse Republicans make to avoid compromising. There's no reason they can't support red flag laws outside of the NRA funding the GOP.
  21. We can easily explain gender without getting into sexuality. Much like we can explain how some boys like girls, some boys like boys, without getting into sexually explicit stuff. The drag queens at Drag Queen Story Hour are usually dressed like the princesses at Disney World. If this is grooming, so is letting kids watch Mrs Doubtfire. The idea that a boy wearing a dress is sexual, but a girl wearing the same dress isn't sexual, that makes absolutely no sense. And no, the Left isn't falling out of favor. Most Americans still support LGBT rights. And the younger generations are even further Left. Completely different. Banning something involves the law, which Republicans can do. But "cancelling" is just trying to destroy a business through boycotts. So far, the Right has failed at making companies that they hate "go broke." Now if the Republican succeed in ending our democracy, I'm sure they would ban many of these companies, or at least force them to follow the party line.
  22. But being abnormal isn't necessarily bad. Blonde hair is abnormal, that doesn't make it bad, right? And it's not that people are promoting trans life. They're promoting trans acceptance. Dylan Mulvaney doing a promo where she's just existing isn't making people want to be trans any more than watching Will & Grace makes people want to be gay. At most, it gets people comfortable with the idea that trans and gay people exist and it's no big deal. Are you talking about the Disney thing? Because Disney has been pretty consistently kicking DeSantis' ass. And no, they haven't "gone broke" after going woke. Every year since the pandemic, they've made a profit.
  23. Every right-wing accusation is a confession.
  24. If we have a large portion of the population that is mentally unstable to the point where they're violent, maybe it's not a good idea to let them have guns. We can enact red flag laws and close the loopholes, in addition to providing free mental healthcare. These two things are not mutually exclusive.
