Is the media attention perhaps because of the leader and deputy leader and former leaders exclaiming poaching, bribery and otherwise disreputable reasons for the member to cross the floor? I think the conservatives themselves are casing the media frenzy by feeding it. When the liberals lost a member, it was it, what is done is done.

My last post on this subject. Yes, many immigrants live multi family rentals and houses (as they probably did from where they came from). I have to say, I also had numerous roommates when I first started out. I can say that housing prices also go up because of higher demand from anyone who CAN afford them....and they do. Houses in my area of Ottawa are not for sale long...someone is buying them. You are contradictory when saying that immigrants and foreign workers are taking low income ($17.80 per hour) jobs by saying even Tim Hortons is buying houses to put their worker into them.... Is that just immigrant or all of their workers. I have actually never heard of that... As I have said and will say again, there is no guarantee or reason for anyone to own a house...that is a choice,.

JOHN TARDS OPINION on Pierre Poilievre. We need to look at the real proven facts when it comes to Pierres record. Loss to liberals 2015 Loss to liberals 2019 Loss to liberals 2021 Loss to liberals 2025 ( Party Leader ) Loses his own riding in Carleton Pierre was built to beat Trudeau. He was not built to beat Carney. Pierre would have trounced Trudeau and the liberals knew it. Enter Mark Carney who is most certainly not anything like Trudeau. All Pierres axe the tax and other slogans had the liberals ripe for the picking. Carney immediately brought a 25% increase in popularity the conservatives couldnt compete with. My opinion is Pierre had his shot and the liberals outplayed him. Pierre will not beat Carney and never will. In january the conservatives have their leadership convention where Pierre will stay or go as leader. I believe if he stays he is just selfish putting himself before the party. He will never beat Carney and if the conservatives want to entertain that they are foolish. People keep sharing this “Carney was a failure at the Bank of England” nonsense, so let’s clear it up with actual facts, not cherry-picked opinion pieces. Mark Carney took over the Bank of England in 2013 during one of the most volatile economic periods in modern UK history. He steered the UK through the aftermath of the global financial crisis and the economic shock of Brexit, two events he didn’t create but was tasked with managing. Under his leadership, interest rates changed only three times in seven years, hardly the “constant flip-flopping” critics claim. And that 11.1% inflation number people love to blame on him? Completely false. UK inflation didn’t hit double digits until years after Carney left, driven by global energy spikes and post-pandemic supply shocks, not anything he did. The “unreliable boyfriend” comment came from one politician and got turned into a tabloid nickname. Meanwhile, globally respected financial institutions praised Carney for stabilizing markets, strengthening financial regulations, and increasing transparency. Yes, he was paid well, because he was the first choice of both Conservative and Labour leadership, and at the time was considered the top central banker on the planet. He also earned the Order of Canada and went on to lead UN climate finance initiatives. You don’t get those for being a “failure.” So let’s stop pretending hot-take opinion columns are facts. Mark Carney has the résumé, the record, and the respect of every serious economist in the world. The conspiracy crowd can yell, but the receipts don’t lie.

Of course countries make "deals". They are contracts for services, products or resources. The thing with these "deals" and "contracts" is that they are fro certain lengths of time. They have to play our before new "deals" and Contracts" can be enacted. We are out in the world selling our products and resources but we have to wait for existing contracts are expired to be able to get a new deal for us. We are in fact selling more LNG than we ever have before. "Canada's total exports have seen recent growth, driven primarily by increases in energy products and motor vehicles, although the overall trade picture has been volatile. In July 2025, exports rose by 0.9% following a period of decline earlier in the year, with real (volume) exports increasing by 1.6%. Despite the overall rise, there have been notable shifts, including increased exports to the UK and European Union, offset by decreased exports to China and Japan. Yes, "what other leaders" is a good question. Canada has chosen it's leader, the one they felt had the most experience and credibility.

I am in Ottawa and prices have gone down and availability is up, as is construction. "The Ottawa real estate market in late 2025 ischaracterized by a slight year-over-year price increase (average home price around $690,397), rising inventory levels that favor buyers, and a mix of market conditions for different property types. While the overall market is seeing more choice for buyers, the condo market is softer with lower prices, while the townhome market remains competitive. Detached homes are in a more balanced state, offering more opportunity for negotiation. " Are you implying immigrants are buying all the houses?? If not for foreign workers, who would do those min wage jobs? (which is $17.80 per hour in Ontario) As I said, and stand by it, there is nowhere where it is said everyone shall have or is entitled to a house.

I am sorry but that was not evident in your supply and demand statement. If housing is your supply and demand issue, well, there is a lot of supply and there is demand as those houses are selling. Just because there are high rices in the 3 largest cities in Canada does not mean the prices are out of reach elsewhere. https://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/professionals/housing-markets-data-and-research/market-reports/housing-market/housing-supply-report What is really important, is that there is no "right" to own a home. "The average age for a first-time homebuyer with recent data placing it between the late 30s and early 40s," Nothing in the charter or any legislation or anywhere does it infer every Canadian is to buy and own a home. "2025 Survey: A more recent survey indicates that 43% of Canadians are currently renting their home. Growth Trend: The number of renter households grew by 22% between 2011 and 2021, a faster rate than owner households, which grew by 8.4% in the same period. "

Can't help if your brit friends are fools like you LOL "Financial stability and innovation: He managed the Bank of England during a period of economic uncertainty and introduced policies like forward guidance to provide clarity to markets. Crisis management: His supporters credit him with helping the UK economy navigate the post-recession period and the uncertainties surrounding Brexit. Credibility: He was chosen for the role because of his credibility and ability to remain calm under pressure, coming from a successful tenure as Governor of the Bank of Canada. Support from some quarters: Some commentators from the UK, such as those at The Guardian, found him competent and not a government mouthpiece. His public warnings about the economic consequences of Brexit led some, including former Prime Minister Liz Truss, to accuse him of being too political and to blame him for economic problems.....and he was right

I think it is you that does not understand supply and demand LOL Countries, including Canada have contracts and deals and they cannot just be cancelled. These contracts and deals need to be honoured and satisfied before changes and new contracts can be made. That is the supply and the demand. What "huge pile of backlogged projects"??? PP Le Pew would not have been able to cancel contracts other countries have made, nor institute new contracts with Canada until existing deals were completed and satisfied. It takes tine for old deals to expire and new ones to come into effect.

And the Airbus scandal and the Schreiber kickback affair.
-
Just saying programs and legislation outlive the leaders of government.
-
You do realize that we are having to deal with the aftermath of almost every prime minister? The legislation and laws made by them are still in effect to day. Some OK , others not so OK. That is what it is all about.
-
That has go to say a lot about the Conservative party as a whole though.... Trudeau?? Who is that?? He is long gone. You drinking PP's kool aid LOL

Canada’s Pierre Poilievre Should Step Aside https://time.com/7310749/canada-poilievre-conservatives-byelection/ The Angus Reid Institute’s Poilievre monitor finds the Conservative leader’s unfavorability numbers persistently high. Going back to the fall of 2022, over 50% of those surveyed disliked Poilievre. That number never got better than 49%, and now sits at 57%. His numbers are particularly dismal among women and younger voters, but even among the 55+ age bracket that traditionally votes Conservative, Poilievre manages just 39% approval.

I fully agree the deficit is huge but, something has to be done. We are in a crisis thanks to Donald Trump. Things need to be done to get our economy moving or at least to steady it and I think the budget ties to accomplish this. The problem is that to get "deals" with other countries on our product/resources/agriculture, we need to first honour our existing "deals" and contracts. The bigger problem is other countries also have deals and contracts they must honour. None of this will happen overnight and some may take years to come into effect. "Other leading experts" are unaware of the dealings and what is actually happening because Carney does not disclose what goes on during negotiations behind closed doors. These "leading experts" should be very aware of how things are done. I am not sure who these "leading experts" are but if they were in fact leading experts, they should know how things are done. Carney is not Trump making deal announcements without basis or fact every day. We all know Trumps"deals" are mostly hot air, proposals at best. The countries he say he has deals with also have to honour existing contracts . We also know those "deals" he speaks about are not spoken about in the countries where they supposedly occurred. Carney does not do that...he only makes announcement jointly and with facts to support them. I know we have financial problems but I will wait and see what the deals are and when they come to fruition. I am quite sure that Canada will come out quite well but...it is not an overnight thing. I also am tired of PP whining about this. If he only had a security clearance, he would not be so boisterous and critical. Other political leaders are not whining because they have clearance are and briefed about situations. I am logic and not emotional or reactionary. I understand contracts. I am not going to argue this. This is my opinion .

Desperate? For peoples attention??? I respond only to you and a few others that try to diss me. Hardly "peoples attention". Only trolling you guys LOL. What a LOSER HA H A. HA Got what??? You area LOSER so you got nuthin LOL Now just to get back on topic...there is no potential anymore for the federal government to fall in a matter of weeks. LOL PP Le Pew pizzed in his puffed wheat and screwed himself and the conservative party.

Trudeau?? History will tell you that the US wanted us to shore up our borders way back in 1958 when Diefenbaker made the deal for Bomarcs. All PM's have "promised" to raise funding and not until now will we do it.. We have never made the "promised" 2% until now. The military has been sucking the hind teat for 50+ years and are finally getting what they have been due.
