  1. Hmmm, seems to me your RRSP's are in the wrong place:) Mine have done OK.
  2. The details are in court records. The guy has the money and staff to play the system....as does out leader Justin Like it or not
  3. I am as skeptical as the next guy. I am just not paranoid about it. Government is there to ensure that you, the citizen gets all the things you want and need. And yes, it certainly need to have check and balances.
  4. Take out and delivery was certainly a lifesaver for many many restaurants. They would have gone under without it. Or do you know another way they could have stayed in business? Never got CERB so your assumption is wrong, as usual. Bill Gates??? It always amazes me why people are so enraptured with the wealth and position and doings of others. Must be pure jealousy. We are discussing Farmers protest and ecological damage in Netherlands. I know that is difficult thing for you to stay on topic. LOL
  5. OMG. What are you going on about? Buying land?? Who? Where? Have you ever been out of your basement to see what is really going on in the world. What the rest of the world looks like?? I think not judging by your comments. We are talking eco systems damage and failures in the Netherlands.. You really need to get your head on straight and find out the ecological damage being done over there. https://www.indexmundi.com/netherlands/environment_current_issues.html All stores had online offerings. The rise of food deliveries kept many restaurants in business. You are such a drama queen LOL
  6. No, you are trying to justify ecological crisis with , I am not sure. You think the food supply will be damaged? When the eco systems are destroyed then there will be no food production at all. What then?? I have been to Holland twice in the past few years. This is a problem for them. It is not like in Canada where we have thousands of acres of land. Holland has 50,000 small farms all in an area smaller than Nova Scotia. And that includes several cities of Rotterdam ,600000 (1.2 million in greater metropolis) to Amsterdam 800,000, (2.5 million in metro Amsterdam) people and many smaller cities and towns. So no, there is no fear mongering, there is a crisis that needs to be resolved. There i s no attempt to give anything to multinationals, the attempt is to reduce farming all together. Where would they get their food, well, they are part of the EU and get it where other EU countries get it. Oh and Amazon and other online retailers made gazillions because you me and all the others bought stuff from them. We made them bigger and richer and what they are now.
  7. From 1978 when inflation was 8% to 1983 when it was 12% then slowly came down, it was difficult. We only had single income. Pretty slim living for a few years but we did it. That is why I may be cynical about housing costs and inflation making things difficult for people. We did it and so can the folks now, if the have to or want to.
  8. No, walked away and let banks foreclose.
  9. ?? failing healthcare?? No real comment to make on the situation in Netherlands so you deflect to covid again?? Bottom line is the farmers protest in Netherlands, which some here are supporting, is because the government is protecting the environment, the lakes, the rivers, the coastal area and Dutch eco system from nitrogen oxides and ammonia. Nothing to do with climate change, certainly nothing to do with covid and everything to do with protecting the environment. I ask you again, are you against saving the environment of a small country or you OK with it being destroys by chemical agents used by 50,000 farmers??
  10. An interesting thing happened.Just walk away and get foreclosed. At the time, there was no down payments legislated or required. Banks just gave you the money. The developers wanted to sell homes so bad they offered no down payment and 5 appliances to you for you to buy. When it got real bad, there were People that would come up to you and say, we will buy your house for a $1. Then you would pay the new owner rent. The people that bought the house stopped making payments. The bank began foreclosure action and it would take up to 18 months and then they would let the banks take the house. https://archive.macleans.ca/article/1983/9/12/when-homes-sell-for-1
  11. Well, I lived and had a house during the decline 40 years ago. In Edmonton when people that bought houses for $130,000 and the market went down to $75,000 for those houses.. People just walked away. On top of that interest rates were as high as 18%. But, everyone survived and moved forward. As they will now. So, what went around, comes around. Change the dates of this article to todays dates and you will see the situation has happened before. https://archive.macleans.ca/article/1988/8/15/fighting-back-in-calgary
  12. You are right with clarification. Trump was a business owner, as opposed to businessman. He dictated his companies. My way or the highway in all ventures. He is mart but not necessarily effective or successful. Bankrupt 6 times and said "we used certain laws that are there". So when thing did not go well, he used American laws and bailed out on everything and everyone. He was/is smart in that he has all his ventures separated so any one of them can go bankrupt without it affecting the others. "Trump’s companies have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which means a company can remain in business while wiping away many of its debts. The bankruptcy court ultimately approves a corporate budget and a plan to repay remaining debts; often shareholders lose much of their equity. Trump’s Taj Mahal opened in April 1990 in Atlantic City, but six months later, “defaulted on interest payments to bondholders as his finances went into a tailspin,” The Washington Post’s Robert O’Harrow found. In July 1991, Trump’s Taj Mahal filed for bankruptcy. He could not keep up with debts on two other Atlantic City casinos, and those two properties declared bankruptcy in 1992. A fourth property, the Plaza Hotel in New York, declared bankruptcy in 1992 after amassing debt. PolitiFact uncovered two more bankruptcies filed after 1992, totaling six. Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts filed for bankruptcy again in 2004, after accruing about $1.8 billion in debt. Trump Entertainment Resorts also declared bankruptcy in 2009, after being hit hard during the 2008 recession. Why the discrepancy? Perhaps this will give us an idea: Trump told Washington Post reporters that he counted the first three bankruptcies as just one."
  13. Uh, yeah...No. I live in the real world, not the paranoiac one your seem to reside in.
  14. What is it you don't understand. It is not climate change, it is nitrogen oxide and ammonia getting into the waters killing fish and the aquatic environment. "Nitrogen, a key nutrient for plants, is also an insidious pollutant. Fertilizer washing off fields ends up in lakes and coastal areas, causing algal blooms that kill marine life. Airborne nitrogen can also harm ecosystems. One source is nitrogen oxides, mostly from power plants and engine exhaust. In the Netherlands, even more comes from the ammonia vapors from livestock urine and manure. Both kinds of nitrogen react to form aerosols that cause smog, damage foliage, and acidify the soil, hindering roots' absorption of nutrients. ": https://www.science.org/content/article/nitrogen-crisis-jam-packed-livestock-operations-has-paralyzed-dutch-economy
  15. What don't you believe? That the farmers in the Netherlands are not have created and nitrogen and ammonia runoff problem? Netherlands is a tiny country with many many waterways and 50,000 agriculture (primarily flowers) and livestock farmers. So yes, it is very much a problem. Also, we have had tractors going down our streets in Ottawa, a number of times. The issue in the Netherlands is not factory farms, it is the purported 50,000 small farmers . Protests in Ottawa are an almost daily event, with all sorts of different causes and issues.
  16. Yes there is more now than ever. What is the root cause though? Cheaper drugs? Easier access? Or your area and the people in it? Or, maybe no consequences to selling, buying and using? Cannot put all the blame on doctors as I am sure there is more illicit drug use than prescribed and many,if not most, drug users begin with illicit drugs.
  17. Who said they cannot protest?? There are protests every day in Ottawa. What a bunch of BS. You just don't get it. If you are harming the environment, killing the aquatic life and the fish and the polluting the drinking water, then yes, you should be curtailed. Or is that OK with you??
  18. More drama for Lich 'Enough is enough,' Tamara Lich's lawyers say as 'Freedom Convoy' leader appears before fifth judge to argue release https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/enough-is-enough-tamara-lich-s-lawyers-say-as-freedom-convoy-leader-appears-before-fifth-judge-to-argue-release/ar-AAZY7sc?ocid=windirect&cvid=4e149ba6d34d4acebad24a9945c5de80
  19. Who is destroying the food supply? Pollute the groundwater and aquatic areas for all and destroy the food supply or reduce fertilizers which have been proven to be detrimental to us? The government wants to reduce fertilizer use by 50% by 2030. You OK with the pollution caused? "Huge amounts of fertilisers end up running off fields and contaminating rivers, waterways, groundwater and the oceans – resultingin an explosive overgrowth of plants and algae which depletes oxygen levels in water, killing aquatic life. While manure does have environmental value as organic fertiliser, the excessive concentration of animal production in certain areas has resulted in unsustainable levels of manure, meaning our air and soils are also being polluted with unhealthy levels of ammonia (NH3) – one of the main forms of surplus reactive nitrogen in the environment. Nitrogen pollution’s impact on biodiversity is also staggering. An overabundance of nitrogen means that, for example, plants that require nitrogen-rich environments may become invasive and out-compete rarer species that are adapted to grow on soils with low nitrogen availability. High nitrogen deposition may therefore result in changes to vegetation and fauna composition, and overall biodiversity loss" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_farmers_protests BTW, I have relatives in the Netherlands.
  20. No proof of anything. To propose a plan is like farting in a thunderstorm. Means nothing until is real. Truth is when there is actually things happening and a plan is just a rectal pluck..
  21. The feds have no control over local police laying charges, provincial courts or provincial judges. I agree, it is taking far too long to go to court but, who is to blame for that? Perhaps the lawyers for the charged? It took one guy 150 days to select a lawyer. Then the super lawyer for another one could not provide enough evidence to get her released on breaching bail. I suspect those that are charged are dragging this whole thing Interjecting your own personal opinion on what is going on in the courts and why is nonsensical.
  22. OK, previously you have had some valid points. I read your diatribe twice to find some sort of meaning and am baffled. What it boils down to me is you are pissed at population increase and considering Canadians are not making babies, you must be taking a broad brush swing at immigration. Sounds to me you are blaming immigrants for all the things wrong and you dislike. Your essay is less climate issue than your anti migrant stance.
  23. What policy is that??
  24. A plan. No legislation, just a plan.... not much more than a wish list LOL As we are all aware, Canada has failed in all its past plans for reducing carbon emissions and this "plan' does not define or delineate or propose anything. Now, the Dutch Farmers protest is against the governments "plans to cut emissions of pollutants like nitrogen oxide and ammonia by 50 per cent by 2030, to help protect more than 150 nature reserves in the country." Meaning , the government is trying to reduce the use of fertilizers. Farmers don't like that. I guess you are OK with the use of fertilizers that leach into the ground waters and pollute them? What lobbyists are these that you are talking about??
  25. And have been in coalition ever since with elected the ruling party collapsing ever 2 years.
