  1. I can't believe the constancy Rue has in spreading misinformation. He never misses an opportunity to cover up and apologize for pure, blatant racism and discrimination by Israel. There is too much to go over, but I will touch up on a few of the myths from Rue: Myth #1 - The Arab Bedouin are nomads The Arab Bedouin have organized in settlements in the Naqab since the 16th century; these settlements were largely fixed and stabilized by the 19th century. While their pastoral way of life necessitated seasonal movement, their travel centered around historic villages with privately owned plots of land and collectively held pasture lands. These ancestral settlements and historic villages are now “unrecognized” by the State of Israel. Myth #2 - The Arab Bedouin don't know how to claim ownership In 1969, Israel established a process whereby citizens (the Arab Bedouin were granted Israeli citizenship by 1954) could register claims of land ownership with the state. From 1970 to 1979, the Arab Bedouin submitted 3,221 ownership claims over their ancestral land, for a total of 971,000 dunums (242,750 acres). Today, after various settlements with the State, the Arab Bedouin, who make up 30% of the Naqab population, are justly claiming 600,000 dunums (200,000 acres), or less than 5% of the total area of the Naqab. Myth #3 - The Arab Bedouin live in scattered, unknown settlements; connecting the settlements to infrastructure is impossible and unprecedented Nearly half of the Arab Bedouin community in the Naqab lives in 45 permanent and known villages, at least 10 of which are in the “process of recognition” by the State. These 45 villages either pre-date the establishment of the State of Israel, or were established in the 1950s by order of the military government that concentrated the Arab Bedouin into the restricted “Siyag” area in the northern Naqab. Ironically, in 2010, the Knesset retroactively legalized around 60 individual settlements in the Naqab that were established without permits and contrary to planning laws. These individual settlements, all but one of which are Jewish owned, are connected to all the basic services and are often located near the “unrecognized” Bedouin villages. If you want to learn more about the Prawer Plan and the ethnic cleansing that is taking place, here is one source.
  2. But of course I was giving an example of how getting rid of the federal funding and relying on private funding can pollute a system. Fundraisers and individual donations corrupt elections. This is what I'm trying to get at. We already see it in Canada and it's at an extreme in the U.S. I don't think there is any way of controlling this. For democracy to truly flourish, I believe the best way to level the playing field is to decrease the limit on party campaign spending. Corporation elections financing happens all the time. It has happened more than it has been reported. One example that I remember was during the Quebec provincial elections. But it's also being done in federal elections as well. This is not okay: An analysis by The Canadian Press of federal data indicates that donations from certain firms, now under scrutiny, helped transform one Tory association in a no-hope Montreal riding into an improbable financial juggernaut in early 2009. In Laurier-Sainte-Marie, a left-leaning fortress home to some of the most progressive politics in the country, the Tory riding association pulled in $288,823.37 in donations that year – despite the party placing fifth there in the previous election, behind the Green party. Here is more: Lino Zambito, a construction boss who recently pleaded guilty to trying to fix the 2009 municipal election in Boisbriand, told Radio-Canada last month that engineering firms are “the ones closest to power.” He said they ask construction companies for a “helping hand” in order to secure certain contracts. In 2010, the engineering firm Axor and several affiliated companies pleaded guilty to 40 counts of breaking Quebec's election laws. The province's elections watchdog discovered the firm had circumvented laws preventing corporate donations by funnelling money through employees.
  3. Obama is obviously on a mission. He wants to leave office as having achieved what many of his predecessors did not or could not. First, it was Obamacare, despite the many faults it has, became law in U.S., and now it's the Middle East issues. He seems to have a willing partner in Iran and the Palestinians are ready to compromise. The biggest obstacle that remains is Israel's current government and the prostitutes in congress and the senate, who get their foreign policy queues, and campaign funding and political backing from the most powerful lobby group, AIPAC. Obama has a few things working on his side; The international community is on the side of diplomacy and do not want anymore AIPAC/Israel pushed wars in the Middle East. The American people are feeling the same way. This is why the Obama administration side-stepped congress and senate and went straight to the American people, who, very loudly and clearly said no to a war in Syria. Obama's reluctance to attack Syria was a loss for the all mighty AIPAC. We're seeing the same thing in regards to Iran. The Obama administration is once again turning to the American people and selling diplomacy, while congress and senate are left looking like warmongers, while repeating AIPAC issued statements.
  4. It's difficult having conversations with people such as you, who have very little attention span. You're usually so busy fuming with anger and too busy defending your tribe, that you're unable to comprehend what has been said and how things have been explained. Instead, you comeback with half-truths and defaming comments. AIPAC still has a huge influence when it comes to U.S. foreign policy, especially when it comes to the middle east. Why? Because they hold this power over the congress and senate. Look at the way the senate, both dems and republicans are responding to Kerry, who is asking the senate to hold off on 'new' sanctions on Iran. This is no conspiracy theory since there is proof in their actions and proof in the amount of money these guys receive from the pro-Israeli lobby groups. Stop pretending otherwise. In the article you responded, it's mentioned the same thing. So there is no contradiction on where I stand and what I have said in the past. You need to improve your attention span and stop imagining things in your head. Kerry and his White House entourage had a chat with U.S. senators and it was like trying to convince Bibi to give negotiations a chance. Here is one of AIPAC's favourite poodles, senator Mark Kirk: “I was supposed to disbelieve everything the Israelis had just told me, and I think the Israelis probably have a pretty good intelligence service,” Kirk said. He revealed that the Israelis had told him that the “total changes proposed set back the program by 24 days.” Kirk also adopted the Israeli comparisons of the Iran deal to the Munich Agreement, saying: “Today is the day I witnessed the future of nuclear war in the Middle East.” Makes you wonder which country he is representing. A final note, Rue: Pay attention to what is being discussed and stop misrepresenting people.
  5. I was talking about the U.S. as an example. That said, here in Canada, there are ways around it. For example, each employee of a corporation donating the maximum allowed amount. This is already happening. When you rely heavily on political contributions from individuals corruption is encouraged. When there is not enough oversight and control of election funds and the smaller parties who are not representing big corporations and wealthy special interest groups are pushed out, then the people will no longer be properly represented. As it was shown when Joe Volpe received $108,000 from 20 people during the Liberal leadership race. Many of them were children who gave the maximum allowable donation of $5400.
  6. we have examples of corporations funding political parties and we're seeing how great that has worked out.
  7. this is important information on israel's influence over france's foreign policy. Unlike the United States, where the pro-Israeli influence is exerted through campaign contributions coordinated by AIPAC, in France the presidency has nearly complete control over foreign policy. A small group of officials has shaped policy toward Iran and Israel for the past six years. The people who are now advising Fabius on Iran are, in fact, the same ones who advised Sarkozy's foreign ministers Bernard Kouchner and Alain Juppe. "There is, in the ministry of foreign affairs, a tightly knit team of advisers on strategic affairs and non-proliferation which has played a major role in shaping the French position on Iran over the years," a knowledgeable French source told Truthout. The direction the group has taken French policy generally has coincided with that of the neoconservatives in the United States, according to close observers of that policy. At the center of that tight-knit group is the former French ambassador to the United States during the George W. Bush administration, Jean-David Levitte. He was appointed diplomatic adviser to Sarkozy in 2007. Levitte, who has been called by some the "real foreign minister" of France, has family ties to Israel and Zionism. His uncle, Simon Levitt, was co-founder of the Zionist Youth Movement in France. link
  8. If you consider yourself a moderate in the Jewish political spectrum, then there is no hope in relying on moderates to reach a just and lawful solution when it comes to the occupied Palestinian territory. It's time to side-step the rightwing Zionists and the so-called Jewish moderates, like you. Hopefully Obama and Kerry will continue to avoid the immense pressure from Bibi, AIPAC and the bought congress. They look to be doing just that. Just like when it came to Syria, they allowed the American people to decide whether they wanted another war or diplomatic engagement. The American people chose diplomacy and congress had no choice but to go with the overwhelming majority. We're seeing the same thing with Iran. It's either diplomacy, which the rest of the world, including the P5+1 (minus the French, who have their own economic reasons), want OR war. New Iran sanctions would risk war, White House warns Washington (AFP) - The White House has warned US lawmakers that tightening sanctions on Iran could derail a diplomatic drive for a nuclear deal with Iran, boxing America into a "march to war." link
  9. This is my first time seeing you make such a pompous, self-righteous and erroneous post. My stance has always been that all sides should respect international law and human rights. I also believe our governments should not support any state or group who violates international law.
  10. From what I see, they advocate for international law which can be found in resolution 194: Article 11 - Palestinian Refugees (The General Assembly) Resolves that the refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.
  11. They have to eat the hearts of their enemies to be immoral? It's like the rapist asking the court to excuse its actions because there are murderers out there. No it's not. According to the Economist, the Middle Eastern countries with the highest scores of democracy are Israel, Kuwait,Turkey, Morocco and Lebanon. However, neither, including Israel are considered "full democracies". Israel is considered a "flawed democracy". Israel is no longer under threat. The actions that it is taking now are not for self defense. Increasing settlements, ie: annexing land and water is not a matter of security for Israel. It is colonialism and expansionism. Throughout all of its wars, Israel has continued to receive an average of $3 billion a year from the U.S. which have mostly gone towards its military. How can you not call that support? Not only that, but the U.S. has vetoed majority of resolutions against Israel's aggression, which has given Israel immunity against being held accountable for breaking international law.
  12. This was also shared, showing information about cars being burnt by what looks to be police infiltrators: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=TbLU9tdDwxo
  13. They didn't expect to be caught. It was Edward Snowden who revealed this information. If Snowden had not revealed this information, they would have gotten away with it. So please, try a little harder to look at things from a logical perspective.
  14. I rather you read about it, rather than me typing it: http://deepclimate.org/2012/01/13/ethical-oil-political-connections-part-1-conservatives-go-newclear/ Why even question whether Harper has close ties with these companies?
  15. Zionism = Racism This is admitted by many ZIonists. In order to preserve the Jewishness of Israel, there is no choice but to be racist. No choice but to have racist laws. In order for the dream of Greater Israel to be revealed, there is no choice but to discriminate against the people the ZIonists want the land from. Look at these disgusting people in Israel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPxv4Aff3IA
  16. Do you think Harper, despite having close ties to the energy industry all his life would ever ask Canada's spy agency to spy for these private energy companies? You don't think Harper is not capable of lying about not knowing about this? Why are you so quick to jump up and believe Harper, despite having been caught lying several times. Latest being the Duffy scandal. Harper should pay for all of these scandals around him, which, ultimately, he is responsible for. What kind of a leader allows so much of this to happen and then plead innocence when they are revealed. What kind of a leader is Harper?
  17. Pay attention to this link that was already shared so you don't end up sounding silly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZm-AL9uIPc
  18. This is from your own link that you have posted, Rue. Read and learn: On June 22, 1941 Joseph Weitz, a former director of settlement in the Jewish Agency, wrote in his diary: "Amongst ourselves it must be clear that there is no room for both peoples in this country. No 'development' will bring us closer to our aim to be an independent people in this small country. After the Arabs are transferred, the country will be wide open for us; with the Arabs staying the country will remain narrow and restricted.... There is no room for compromise on this point....land purchasing....will not bring about the state;.... The only way is to transfer the Arabs from here to neighbouring countries, all of them, except perhaps Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Old Jerusalem. Not a single village or a single tribe must be left. And the transfer must be done through their absorption in Iraq and Syria and even in Transjordan. For that goal, money will be found - even a lot of money. And only then will the country be able to absorb millions of Jews.... There is no other solution." - (Weitz Diary, entry dated 20 December 1940, pp.1090-91, Central Zionist Archives, Jerusalem.) "I made a summary of a list of the Arab villages, which in my opinion must be cleared out in order to complete Jewish regions. I also made a summary of the places that have land disputes and must be settled by military means." - (Weitz Diary, entry dated 18 April 1948, p. 2358, CZA) Here is the leader of a Zionist terrorist group, who later became Israel's prime minister - Pay attention and learn: "… we [the Haganah] adopt the system of aggressive defence; during the assault we must respond with a decisive blow: the destruction of the [Arab] place or the expulsion of the residents along with the seizure of the place." - (Ben-Gurion's advice on 19 December 1947. Cited in Simha Flapan This is Zionism for you. Not this laughable b.s., repeated by the deluded, ignorant and the lying: Here is a testimony of an Israeli soldier who was there and participated in the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians: http://youtube.com/watch?v=p8IjnRsRPCQ
  19. I am not active member of the group. I just receive their emails, telling me about their talks. Who cares anyway? They're promoting international law, justice and peace. Never have they advocated for anything more or less. This is not about the group or their agenda. This is about what I feel about the people who suffer. For me, this is about promoting justice for a group who has been stripped of their human rights and dignity by a brutal occupier for several decades. Most of these checkpoints are situated inside the Palestinian territories. There is no need for them when it comes to security. They're only there to continue to make life miserable for the Palestinians. Here is an ambulance, trying to get from a hospital in the Palestinian territories, to a village inside the Palestinian territory, in order to help a pregnant woman. Guess who thinks that's not a good idea? The "most moral army in the world".
  20. The only propaganda I try to spread is the truth and justice. I don't try to sugar coat anything or try to bend any truths. If I am ever wrong, I expect to be corrected. Once again, you have an opportunity to address the information given from Israeli soldiers and the video I posted above, showing these terrible checkpoints. Let me know when you're able to address the videos without stooping into one of your baseless accusation rants in order to try to shut down debate on facts.
  21. The propagandists are here in full force. Nothing to see here folks. It's all made up. It's all fake. So are these samples of daily incidents that go on in the occupied territories: It gets really fake around 2:15.
  22. The Harper government is spying on other countries on behalf of private companies. Why the hell are you okay with that? Even Harper himself is trying to distance himself from these "disturbing" (as he put it) information that have come out.
  23. Is SnoopyDoggyPorch trying to insinuate that breakingthesilence.org.il is lying and the soldiers giving the testimonies are lying? I don't understand this latest denial of the obvious.
  24. Since Zionism promotes and practices the acceptance of human rights violations and since those who are committing them have impunity after committing their crimes, there is almost no limit in how far Israeli soldiers will go in their vile treatment of Palestinians:
  25. In order to maintain the Israeli occupation and colonization for this long, a cultural sickness has developed. It's no longer about survival. At the same time, more and more Israelis are speaking out about this sickness. Here is an example of some female Israeli soldiers who are able to admit the problems and can no longer stay silent as to what this sense of limitless power has created:
