BUT capitalizing RANDOM words MAKES em look SMARTER.

Ya, those MAGATs are pretty clever eh? Ammunition used to assassinate Charlie Kirk engraved with trans, antifascist messages. Suspect still at large

Another bogus caveat intended to justify and deflect the lack of general condemnation IMO. What does "skyrocketing" even mean in this context? I simply don't understand your demands for additional inclusions, caveats, and reasons to mitigate the pure evil of what's happened here. When it comes to attacks against innocent people based solely on their ethnicity I (and most conservatives BTW) would condemn it without needing 7 pages. So: Did incidents of antisemitic physical attacks (not rhetoric) increase after the events of Oct 7th or not? And more to the point, can you point to any other identifiable group who was vilified and attacked in 3rd party countries after having suffered similar ethnically targeted assaults (and I'm being overly kind calling it that) in their home country? If you're going to suggest that these attacks only started after Israel began the military action against the perpetrators you would also have to explain how any of it could be considered the fault of Canadian born Jews in Canada or immigrants to Canada from half a world away.
-
What I'm unlikely to forget is that it took seven full pages to establish that stabbing Jewish women in grocery stores and beating Jewish fathers in front of their children was an act worthy of condemnation. It's not a matter of being better late than never, it's a matter of NOT having a list of caveats and inclusions for Canadian Jews that you would never apply to violence against other identifiable groups. I'll hold my applause until I see a trend... .

In the west, any available statistics are typically captured under the heading of "honour killings," In general, use of the term "stoning" should probably be considered analogous here... especially in the west because it's more hidden. By that I mean villages don't gather on a Saturday night for stonings in Canada. When it happens it's a bit more subtle and difficult to characterize as such. As immigration patterns have changed you see honour killings showing up in countries were they never existed before and in sufficient number to be concerning. It seems to me that the statistics are a bit murky in assigning it as a cause though and I suspect many just fall into the category of (I'll call them) "standard murders". By way of example, In Norway between 2000-2022 there were 24 murders that were confirmed as honour killings, in Sweden (in 2016 alone) ten of the 105 murder cases were confirmed to be honour killings and the UK runs at about 12 per year. That doesn't mean there wasn't more though because looking at raw data doesn't tell the whole story. Honour related crimes can also include such things as torture, forced suicide, forced marriages, rapes assaults etc. In short, and IMO of course, it's a difficult thing to get a solid handle on. So there ya go... I'm not going to enter the fray with you over this or defend one side over the other I just wanted to point out that the whole thing is a bit more nuanced than some might think. Personally, my fear is that this sort of thing won't even be seen as a problem until statistical awareness of it increases and people realize that the issue itself extends beyond simple (and sarcastic) references to "stoning."

The letter under discussion here has little to do with "sides" IMO, if ever there was a simple bipartisan statement everyone could support, I'd have thought the idea of condemning the stabbing of a Jewish woman in a grocery store (or violence against any identifiable group) might have topped the list. I'm not going to fly the pride flag at the end of my driveway but I can condemn violence against the letter people without the slightest hesitation. As to the bigger picture, as soon as you acknowledge that Israel isn't going anywhere and that nothing short of the total annihilation of Israel will satisfy Hamas, pig snot suddenly becomes more valuable than the multiple (and opposing) historical perspectives being juggled here. You can use it as a moisturizer... No shortage of people came here as refugees after having lost everything in their home country... other than starting over again or developing a time machine, I don't know what the solution is. If Hamas had political objectives as opposed to religious ones perhaps some of it could be addressed over time, that's simply not the case though and never will be with them... thus pig snot stands as more valuable.
-
I could fill the page with quotes just like the one above but in reality they're all equally irrelevant. Interesting from a clinical and historical perspective yes, but of little value otherwise. In the absence of a time machine, these historical perspectives aren't worth a handful of pig snot. You're left with the here and now, Israel isn't going anywhere and absolutely nothing in the here and now justifies (or condones) physically attacking an identifiable group who are half a world removed from events they are being assaulted over... they had no hand in creating the situation and no influence over solutions, outcomes or reconciliations. I find the inability to condemn physical attacks on people due solely to their ethnicity curiously at odds with (what I thought to be) progressive values.... and not by a little either, it's staggering. In some cases the only thing the attacker and victim have in common is that neither of them have ever set foot in the region. Rationalizing those attacks by virtue of past historical wrongs is to invite further violence against other innocent people and justify it as "understandable" due to the actions of their great grandfather's generation. I'd invite you consider that in the context of violence in other parts of the world. If your thinking and the caveats you apply to this situation were applied to other second generation ethnic Canadians by "white maple leaf MAGATs" you'd be screaming loudly. Failing to unreservedly condemn the stabbing of a Canadian woman in a Canadian grocery store in retaliation for events half a world away puts YOU in a pretty curious file folder. This violence against innocent people could easily be applied in equal measure to other innocent Canadians with other ethnicities and religions across the board. Were that to happen, I suspect you'd identify as unequivocally opposed to it and would immediately vilify anyone who would seek to justify those attacks with historical anecdotes from three generations ago. .. which is exactly what you appear to be doing right now.

Overall I don't think this is too complicated, or maybe it is and I'm not smart enough to figure it out but it certainly has NOTHING to do with racism. Herb, ya listening? You need TFWs in agriculture and (no doubt) other industries I'm not familiar enough to comment on. Jobs that Canadians simply won't work at perhaps but you certainly don't need them to take jobs away from Canadian helicopter pilots. The difference between those things isn't some narrow creek that runs dry in June either...there's a large gulf between them and after years of sending individual (bogus) job ads and a copy of my resume to the Minister of Labour I've come to think the government has a hard time saying no to companies who want TFWs for reasons of their own. Which is (In most cases IMO) to save money. I'd like to see a documentary or investigative report take a deep dive into this stuff, something like W5 or some such and I'd start with the trucking industry. I have no direct evidence to suggest there are job brokers and cash kickbacks behind the scenes but it would sure answer some WTF questions I have if there were. The US has recently started asking a few of those questions after some high profile accidents... like how did you get a CDL when you're in the country illegally and can't speak english? Ya... I've been wondering that too. Incredibly though we haven't asked any questions and when someone actually does.... Herb-like critters scream racist at them. It isn't a matter of shutting it down completely or going full throttle bat shi% crazy with it either. What happened to common sense and testing outcomes against solutions and solutions against problems? -

Eliminate or reduce TFWs in the agricultural sector and you are going to have problems... that's not the same as preventing companies from excluding Canadian workers in favour of TFWs though. The trucking sector and some seasonal aviation companies come instantly to mind, especially helicopter operators; it's one of the reasons I gave up on aviation. I haven't followed this in a while but back when I was looking, companies would put out bogus job ads requiring an endorsement and PPC on popular equipment knowing full well that anyone so endorsed was already employed. Even though they got applications from seasoned 10,000 (plus) hour pilots (dare I say like me), they still petitioned the government for an LMO allowing TFWs because they didn't want to invest in the training required. The position they took with the government was that there were no qualified pilots in Canada who responded to their job ad. It got to the point that I would submit a copy of the ad and my resume to the Minister of Labour as a form of protest... to no avail BTW. I haven't followed the trucking industry in a while so I can't speak to how it is now. If nothing has changed though it's even more manipulated and bogus than some of the aviation machinations. The number of drivers on the road who completed abbreviated company training and have never seen snow might surprise you. If you were a Canadian driver with less than 2 years OTR though these companies wouldn't even talk to you. I'm just cynical enough to believe that job brokers, training fees and company kickbacks played a roll in this... in fairness, I don't know that to be true but if it is it would explain a few things that never made sense to me. -

Since this is wildly off topic I won't pursue it further... but I think It doesn't really matter what you believe, forestry management deficiencies and excess fuel loading have consequences and the longer you chose to ignore that the worse it will get. Frankly, the more you believe you're right the more you should actually support physical mitigation efforts. I hope you aren't going to suggest that we wait and do nothing until 195 separate countries reach a consensus on climate change. You can't seem to achieve that consensus with a handful of posters on an anonymous forum so I think waiting is a mistake... time to get busy and maybe getting some TFWs on the job would help. -
If the situation were reversed and Canadian Palestinians (in Canada) were being attacked on the street for the events of 7 Oct, liberals would have no problem condemning any and all violence / hatred directed at them. Anyone who failed to support that position, or who suggested it should be broadened to be more inclusive would be ridiculed and vilified in the same manner as those who suggested that "all lives matter" at the height of BLM buffoonery. Here we see people who are literally half a world away from the issue, some who have never even set foot in the region, being attacked by fools who hold them accountable for something they had nothing to do with. Look at world news on any given day, extrapolate that level of buffoonery across the board and you will quickly see that few would be safe from world events in other countries if the only reason for violence was the ethnicity of people who had no role in the events they are being attacked for. This would seem to be a pretty easy thing to condemn IMO.

Pay attention and savour the rarest of moments... Herb is right: This is an issue as well and if I were doing it I'd blame global warming too... it's an easy sell, you'd believe me because you want to. -
Don't think I can make it much clearer here, the law itself isn't that complicated and the law itself isn't even the issue under consideration. A lot of folks seem to have lost sight of that. The use of lethal force in the example above is a deliberate decision and it's also justifiable by virtue of the circumstances. I think you are falsely equating it with murder... clearly not the same thing either morally or legally. Keep in mind as well that the use of "lethal force" isn't defined or determined by whether someone actually dies or not. In like manner, the fact that someone does die from a Taser deployment doesn't qualify Tasers as "lethal force." BTW, no police officer is likely to use less than lethal force (pepper spray or Taser) against someone armed with a crossbow who has already used it in an assault. I'm guessing there are force escalation models online... I don't care enough to look them up for you and I don't think it would even matter if I did. Cheers

I think it's not even close to the same thing; in terms of logical comparison, it's not even in the same galaxy...and I think you know it. Since what's legally allowed is a function of reasonableness: I'd say this is a prime contender for the maximum extent possible and the use of lethal force is justified by the presence of the crossbow and his clear willingness to hurt you by virtue of the fact he already has. Reasonableness is the force required to stop him... shooting him 10 times and then stabbing him 15 times for good measure exceeds the threshold of reasonableness. Stood on its head, expecting him not to use the crossbow as a weapon a second time is equally unreasonable... you don't have to let him shoot you to establish intent and you don't have to respond with a bow and arrow to satisfy the concept of proportional force.

Pop Quiz: 1/ A known and wanted criminal breaks down your door in the wee hours of the night, he's armed with a crossbow and strikes you with the butt end of it in the hallway. Which answer is the best assessment of the situation / his motive(s): a. He is collecting for the Red Cross; b. He's looking for directions to the nearest Tim Hortons; c. He needs to borrow a cup of sugar; d. It's a home invasion and the initial assault (with a deadly weapon) suggests there is clear intent to harm you. 2/ With reference to the above question, your most reasonable course of action is to: a. Write a check payable to the Red Cross and demand a receipt for income tax purposes; b. Lend him your car keys and enjoy coffee and donuts with the entire family when he returns c. Bake him some cookies; d. Assume he means you harm and either resist to the maximum extent possible or cooperate fully depending on the situation and your capabilities.

I don't need to look up anything.... a "like I said" assertive and wikipedia entry is somehow definitive eh? Go spend 2 years there and you won't need to look shi% up either. You quoted Wikipidea... did you read this part? The terms "self-hating Jew", "self-loathing Jew", and "auto-antisemite" are pejorative terms used to describe Jews that oppose certain characteristics that the claimant considers core to Jewish identity
-
Bad guess IMO because I do too. But... tolerating the sort of hateful protests and attacks on Canadian Jews who have never even set foot in Israel is something all together different. It's entirely possible that I've spent more time there than some of the folks currently being abused. If the situation that Canadian born Jews find themselves in were applied to more acceptable (liberal) demographics, the screeching would deafen whales at 2000 feet. Even Flybaby can turn Right Whales into Wrong Whales if he were to give it some thought... we don't need to import people to do that for us as long as we have him.

You're confusing balloons with condoms... your mother seems to have made the same mistake. If you want to trade insults here you'll have to be a bit more creative and clever about it. I've written 3 limericks for you, now it's your turn. If you aren't up for that I'll leave the fox to devour your dumb a$$ with my blessings.

Not very good at this are ya. Your "bit he" is currently operating below nominal. Maybe you should stick to feeding Ritz Crackers to the mouse that lives under your “verandah.” Be careful about spilling Listerine through the space in those boards on the deck though, it’s toxic to mice. Apparently the lateral shrinkage of wood is a function of age… right Herb? Your wife (with the orange hair) seems a bit insulting but maybe she's onto something with her assessment. Apparently you don't listen too well either.
