  1. After reviewing some of the previous posts I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not going to change any minds here so I’ll just leave you with a final thought. From what I’ve seen of the world, the weapon used has never qualified as the problem’s cause nor the absence of it the problem’s solution. I think it would be great if we could eliminate suicide bombers by banning back packs and baggy clothes and car bombs by banning cars, agricultural fertilizer, fuel oil, Russian mines, analogue alarm clocks, electrical wire etc. I’d even add Donkey borne IEDs (DBIED) to the mix by banning donkeys… ya, it actually is a thing but I don’t think the delivery mechanism (in this case a donkey) addresses any of the underlying issues and we'd be moving on to dogs after the last donkey was eaten. Regulations limiting authority to possess, transport, and carry don’t seem to be working well in Toronto… neither do magazine capacity restrictions or lifetime ownership bans, we seem to be killing a bunch of people pretending they do though. In this particular scenario I think banning guns in the US (a logistic challenge if ever there was one) would be every bit as effective as banning catholics, children, churches, or trans people…. it’s all a bit more complicated than that. If it wasn’t we would have done it “over there,” it would have worked, and we’d have been home in time for Christmas. I’m rooting for ya though….
  2. Nope Canadian and IMO, the only people who are bewildered are those who haven't been to truly unpleasant places and stayed for a long time. Interestingly enough though, one of the interesting differences here is that we all speak the same language. Imagine if there were the same number of dialects as there is in Sudan... We really need to see refugees from these places interviewed on public forum, I think people would really be surprised by what they have to say and the wisdom they bring to the table. Have to run... cheers.
  3. Don't ignore PNR during the voyage to Crazy Island though... what I'm suggesting is that you're closing in on point where that becomes the least of your worries and it might be best to address the underlying issues. I fear that thinking all of this comes down to "guns yes" or "guns no" has the potential to become superfluous... if that happens the rapidity with which it does could be frightening. First time I've ever been concerned about such things here BTW. Cheers.
  4. Polarization and identity politics (largely nurtured for political gain) is close to morphing into a true monster now IMO. I'm beginning to think that unless we see an immediate push toward reconciliation and a cohesive society that it's already too late. It's possible that you (we and us BTW) aren't far from sectarian violence on a larger scale if we enter a cycle of political backlash that see-saws between extremes. It brings with it the threat of bombings and more of the vehicular terrorism we've already seen. Not unheard of in other places where polarized identities and partisan causes result in tit for tat domestic violence against soft targets is it? Perversely perhaps, sometimes the absence of guns can lead to more lethal outcomes than if guns were actually in play. That's not a position for or against the second amendment either, I see it more as the acknowledgement of a sad reality based on human nature and long vacations in warm places. My fear now is that we're reaching a point where endless unproductive arguments over the second amendment will be viewed as the good old days and we're collectively walking toward that possibility with earplugs in and blindfolds on.
  5. Sort of like your thoughtful observations and witty repartee. Whether you articulate it as Religion / church or church / religion the answer is actually Islam... "Queers For Palestine" stands as the pinnacle of delusional L/W thinking. It sounded like you're suggesting the "persecution" you refer to is somehow sufficient to make attacks like this "understandable". If so, please consider the quote below... you may recognize the author: "You don't understand just how pathetic YOUR ^IGNROANCE IS, Dunning-Kruger."
  6. "... see the clown draw really STUPID conclusions with DRIVEL." - have you noticed that you're arguing with yourself yet?
  7. Customs, traditions, laws, lifestyles and low level ethnic grudges too. It's human nature, it's also why demographic concentrations need to be monitored and warehousing new immigrants / refugees vertically is always problematic. People here (mostly) don't understand the cultures because they've never been to those countries. The people who have will usually recommend caution, careful vetting and extra support (which costs money)... they are invariably shouted down by Herb like crazies screaming racist. The Herbs of the world never consider such things as the plight of a single mother who has less status in her home country than her teenage sons do. They won't even acknowledge that as a group, they have no trust in government, the military, or the police (with good reason BTW) and lack the language skills to get by in areas other than the sort of (vertical) ethnic conclaves I refer to... which then serve as breading grounds for such things as gangs and the radicalization of young people. If you are going to import people who are fundamentally opposed to secular democracy and the societal norms you hold dear then you need to stop listing to Herb, be more thoughtful, more cautious, more culturally aware and more supportive than we have been. The same people who talk about "tipping points" in global warming have no concept of what that means in terms of demographic concentrations... until they do, and then it's too late. That's why I blame them for bad outcomes and the effect of draconian backlashes against innocent people... ya hear me Herb?
  8. It leads me to think that anonymity in the form of screen names should be eliminated. I used to consider it a benefit, something that allowed professional people with valuable insights to comment on topical issues without fear of reprisal. Instead it's brought nothing but nonsense, wasted bandwidth and overused scroll keys.
  9. Here's another wise quote that rings true: "We are HUGELY FORTUNATE you don't get to decide POLICY based on YOUR FANTASIES."
  10. Got another quote for ya, maybe you'll recognize it: "FAKE MEMES are the fantasies of CHILDREN."
  11. In the context that I used it, the word “you” certainly doesn’t imply that YOU designed or implemented the policies here. I’m talking about supporters who repeatedly voted for it and those who seeing the damage it caused continue to defend those actions. Usually they do it by attacking the morality of those enforcing the very pre-existing laws that they voted to ignore… IMO, you seem to be doing that. The word “sanctuary” wrt a jurisdiction isn’t some fuzzy welcome mat at the border put out by caring individuals with bottled water and sandwiches, it’s a blatant promise and commitment to ignore federal law and there was no shortage of politicians promising to do that. There was no shortage of voters who supported it too… so, In a nutshell, I blame those voters, those politicians, and in particular the supporters who continue to defend those illegal actions after the fact and inspite of the backlash created in its wake. Other countries did (and are doing) the same thing right now and in response to it, the backlash has seen the rise of (what the MSM delights in calling) ultra RW nationalist parties. I see that as being a predictable result of deliberately ignoring immigration laws over an extended period of time… not in a small way either but full throttle BSC on steroids. Incredibly, some of the people who participated in creating the problem in places like Sweden (by voting for it in the first place) now support the draconian actions championed by these parties. When unhinged madness and the flouting of laws is allowed to prevail to such an extent that the country and its demographics are changed there will always be a backlash (usually a severe one) and innocent people will inevitably be hurt. Your milage may vary but I think it’s an easily predictable form of cruelty worth anticipating and avoiding. There is a big difference between rational, compassionate immigration and what actually went on for 4 straight years under Biden. Excellent... I'll hold you to it.
  12. There's no victory in any of this for anyone. It's the direct result of an unprecedented level of madness, you were repeatedly warned about the potential for this happening... you ignored common sense, compassion, federal law and instead you telegraphed "flank speed" to Crazy Island with your middle finger extended. Your blame game rings pretty hollow with me...
  13. Of course the reports say that. What they don't say is that the modular detention cells are pretty standard issue across the board (at least to my eye). Somehow they were perfectly humane in the Obama and Biden era but POOF, the same cells are inhumane under Trump. Careful now, what you're really suggesting is that Obama and Biden did exactly the same thing, they either ignored it, or approved of it. You have yet to address the inevitability of the backlash issue being a direct result of outlandish BSC open borders. My question stands... are you in any way surprised by the backlash? You were warned about the potential for this over and over and again by people who didn't want to see it happen... my inclination now is to blame you for ignoring it and embracing the acceleration of BSC beyond any definition of reasonable. Of course it was... and it worked, might just be a reason for it that's worthy of consideration. We warned you that this message would resonate during year one of Biden; even so, your default position stayed at ++ BSC. Come now, did he invent that or was there a huge problem in need of a solution? Sanctuary jurisdictions gleefully reviled in their capacity to openly defy US immigration law and now you seem to be suggesting that it played no part in this? Stay the course and this will come to Canada too, once liberal voters get scared to leave their porch, they will be the ones leading the backlash and it will be every bit as draconian as what you now accuse Trump of. Once you get scared enough, you'll be supporting it too. What I'm suggesting here is that common sense, compassion and following existing laws is how you avoid a repeat of the things you now decry as inhumane. It was moved to a remote location to deter the crazies from attacking it. There's an airport there BTW...
  14. It means bat shi$ crazy.... I'm referring to the self inflicted madness at the US southern border for a period of four years. The current (easily predictable) backlash. Cool, I feel the same about many of your's. As to Alligator Alcatraz, while I'm not wild about the name and can't speak to such things as toilet serviceability, I'd note that the entire complex is modular and the detention cells are pretty standard across the board (and several administrations including Obama and Biden). I would have gone the same route with modular and remote too due to crazies attacking ICE agents and facilitates. Like this: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/07/16/dhs-statement-capture-violent-extremist-involved-prairieland-attack-ice-agents It leaves me with the same question though, what did you think was going to happen? No one is truly anti refugee here IMO, it was wild eyed, stratospheric levels of BSC that fuelled this backlash... the reincarnation of Trump is a symptom of that and it should surprise no one.
  15. Can you honestly say that after four years of BSC that you weren't expecting a back lash? How many times were the people who caused this warned about the potential for it.... you were expecting something different?
  16. Nice.... must be a highly contagious condition though. As I see it, people who voted for elbows up now defend elbows down with equal and opposite vehemence... almost as if that was what they voted for in the first place.
  17. Look, I can do it too: Carney lovers blaming Trump for Carney’s carnage are cowardly and weak.
  18. You forgot racist, Nazi, xenophobiac and Islamamaphobiac. They already do at a fundamental and irreconcilable level, and then some, that's the problem and I don't think you appreciate the depth of it. I would encourage you to spend some time in their home country, absorb the cultural norms /traditions / religious beliefs / tolerance of others who are different... then see if you truly believe they're compatible with a secular democracy. Can I assume you want to maintain that? If not proceed on course. Islam works BTW and there's no denying it... you just won't like being subjected to it.
  19. Thinking of these folks (biblically) as being nothing more than innocuous strangers, travellers, and foreigners is serving you (meaning us) badly. What seems to be missing here is discretion and a sense of proportion. Discretion is the key (and sadly lacking) factor IMO, I'm not saying don't do it, but if you are then "beware lest thou embrace the cobra as friend." I would observe that deliberately Importing enemies who hate you, who fundamentally despise your way of life including the very religion that furthers their efforts is foolish. I don't mean refugees who are escaping a harsh life, I mean people who utterly reject the foundations of your society (secular democracy). Aiding and assisting them in forming demographic concentrations with the intent of weaponizing your own values and laws against you is even worse. They see your kindness as weakness, in their eyes it stands a proof that they're right and that their God has paved the way for their efforts against you. Clearly not all foreigners are enemies but please take a moment to acknowledge the reality that some are... if you open your borders to all without discretion (and lack of discretion is being kind here) you risk bringing what was "over there over here" in sufficient numbers to create the sort of havoc that begs for (demands and votes for) the type of draconian backlash that endangers the very people you rightly seek to defend. My fear is that within a few years the backlash I speak of will start to manifest itself.... if/when it does I'll probably ask "what did you think was going to happen?" What I'm really suggesting is that now is a good time to start thinking about your answer. Lot's more where this came from: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings”.
