The small number of slots available means they can be super selective when it comes to students. You won't get into engineering at UBC without an average well into the nineties.

You don't just test positive and die, it can take some time to be sick enough to be hospitalized and the average ICU time is 21 days before people leave dead or alive.

Cases have more than doubled since the middle of last month. Deaths usually trail cases by a month or more.

So you don't believe Norwegian numbers either.

Daily new cases in Norway have more than doubled since Oct 15. Norway requires testing before and on arrival for visitors plus a 10 day quarantine on arrival.

I don't think anyone expects to eradicate Covid, the only disease that has ever been eradicated is smallpox. With vaccines.

Smallpox was declared eradicated in 1979 and the last known case was around 77. Influenza vaccine efficacy is all over the map. Polio vaccine requires three shots to get near 100%. Meningitis vaccines are about 85%.
