  1. That’s what they said about Iraq. Invasion is the easy part. Occupation is something America could never successfully achieve and the countries it’s tried and failed to occupy are a tiny sliver of the size of Canada and didn’t share an almost 9,000 km border with them. The peak of the US surge in Iraq saw 170,000 troops and our landmass is 23 times the size of Iraq and our terrain isn’t all open landscape with no cover
  2. I mostly agree with the points about Canada having a colonial economic structure and having squandered past opportunity. I disagree that dividends will follow from obeisance to Trump I disagree that Carney is still pretending we are still in a rules based world in fact Carney has made that clear repeatedly. The author makes the mistake of suggesting we have moved from a multipolar world to a unipolar American lead one but the fact is its the opposite. American global hegemony has slipped away as BRICS countries continue to grow their economies and influence and as USA suffers internal diseases from social, political and cultural decay, and humiliation on the global stage in Iraq and Afghanistan and the financial crisis, culminating in the election of someone so obviously inept and dishonourable and unrespectable as Donald Trump. Carney understands that Canada needs to diversify away from USA to team up with like-minded countries and, at least in the short term, also play realpolitik with other less savoury global players like India, UAE and even China. I don’t see posturing. And let’s not pretend that Americans are some invincible supermen who have no weaknesses and need nothing from the rest of the world. That’s the American Exceptionalism mythology that every child in the US is indoctrinated with and that’s the subtext of Hollywood movie propaganda, but it’s not the case. The other countries of the world have cards to play against America, they have vulnerabilities and they have needs that they can’t meet on their own.
  3. You can see everything in the pics and the video on the site including slo-mo, dummy. AT BEST the first shot is arguably defensible, especially by American standards , I openly conceded that point already. But the second and third shots which are from the side and rear of the car when he is clearly not in the car’s path are totally unjustified. That reminds me of rhe Sammy Yatim shooting here in Toronto about a little over a decade or so ago. In that case the police officer fired one bullet that instantly felled a teen with a knife and then, even though he was motionless on the ground, the cops approached, stood over him and fired several more bullets into his body. The court found that the first bullet, had mortally wounded the teen and was his ultimate cause of death, was defensible and the cop was not faulted for killing him. HOWEVER the subsequent bullets fired at him point blank while he was already dying and immobilized from the first shot were completely unjustified. Therefore the court rightly ruled that though the cop was justified in actually killing the teen, he was still guilty of attempted murder for the subsequent shots and he went to jail. That might be what justice should look like here at the very least but in USA that ain’t gonna happen.
  4. But what you aaid happened didn’t happen. The vehicle didn’t move towards the agent, the agent wasn’t sttuck the agent fired the second shot well away from the vehicle and the third shot from BEHIND the vehicle as it drove away Here is an initial forensic analysis of the video (the analyst doesn’t comment on whether he thinks there is wrongdoing) First shot is fired at 7:19. Both feet are outside the perimeter of the car and the car’s tires are clearly in a right turn position moving away from the shooter. Second shot is fired at 8:06 with the officer two feet to the left side of the vehicle, firing at a 90% angle laterally through the open passenger window. The third shot is at 8:18 and is from the side and slightly behind the driver. The aftermath shows the shooter standing, uninjured. Additionally, here is a visual of the the front windshield showing only one shot entering the windshield, consistent with what is described above. The location and position of the shot are consistent with the shot coming from a position not directly in front of the vehicle. https://open.substack.com/pub/michaeldsellers/p/renee-good-shooting-three-shots-one?r=3adb8b&utm_medium=ios&shareImageVariant=overlay If its determined that the first or maybe even the second shot killed her then IMO it’s not likely an American jury or prosecutor will care. The third shot from behind I wasn’t aware of, that could change things. However, Trump’s FBI is already reportedly obstructing state and local law enforcement from investigating.
  5. POSSIBLY. That’s the most generous explanation for the officer. But that’s not really a “I had to kill this lady to save my life” situation. More like “things happened so suddenly I only had a split second to react”. In this latter defence, whether he was ACTUALLY is in harm’s way is irrelevant. As Ive said American prosecutors and juries tend to be very lenient with law enforcement in far more egregious cases so I don’t think he’s going to get in any trouble here. She wasn’t going towards him. He was to the left of the vehicle while she was driving forward with a slight right hand turn even. He shot her through the driver window not the windshield. But like I said this is all probably within the scope of what Americans consider acceptable, where police shooting someone over a traffic ticket or jaywalking encounter gone wrong is commonplace …. In other countries these things are not normalized and the population is not so desensitized to it.
  6. Lol you shared a blurry low res picture where you can barely make out the car or the agent much less tell whether they came into contact. And the “news” article is a right wing tacky tabloid that just repeats Trump’s claim without actually verifying any of it. If a right wing tabloid has a column that says “Trump claims to be the smartest man in the world” that is not a journalist “proving” Trump is the smartest man in the world. You might not know this but when people are “rammed” by cars they usually tend to fall down and the car goes over them. Sometimes they end up knocked up in the air and they go over the care. Never do they end up standing casually next to the car. You ought to remember this from when that “very fine person” right wing white supremacist “rammed” anti-racism protesters in Charlottesville. But then again you believe the 2020 election was stolen, support Putin and believe his state-controlled meister is more trustworthy than western media so why am I surprised. No youre the one sharing the lies.
  7. You can see the video, nobody was hit. It’s another of their kies. Remember the guy they tried to arrest for assault for throwing his subway sandwich at an ice agent? The ICE agent lies on the stand and said the sandwich was thrown with such force it “exploded” all over him leaving him covered in sandwich toppings. The video clearly showed the fully wrapped sandwich was gently lobbed, harmlessly off his body armour and fell to the ground, while remaining fully wrapped and intact the entire time - no “explosion” and no toppings mess. Case thrown out of court. When internet comedian Robbie Roadsteamer was standing in a public road taunting them with a bullhorn, the video showed the ICE agents ran out, tacked him on the the public street, dragged him onto federal property, then arrested him for allegedly trespassing on the federal property they dragged him onto. Authoritarian thug tactics which you only support because of WHO is doing the thugging and WHO is receiving the thugging, nothing else.
  8. What else do you “ram”? She didn’t “ram” anyone or anything so nce again the MAGA cultists are exposed as the liar. Falsely accusing others of lying isn one of MAGA’s favourite lies.
  9. 😅😅 REGULAR US cops aren’t even “understanding” and these ICE agents are zealots on steroids. “Understanding” = terrorist sympathizer in their worldview. In America police shootings like this happen all the time: driver tries to drive away so cop shoots them point blank in the head through the driver’s window even though they’re not in the path of the vehicle. The cop is probably not thinking “I need to shoot to save my life” more like “don’t let them get away”. But the cop always gets off in these situations, the Americans set the bar for guilt very high when it comes to police officers accused of wrongdoing and the benefit of the doubt they give him is enormous. It’s almost impossible to convict a police officer for any serious misconduct the stars really have to be perfectly aligned. They get away with a lot worse than this.
  10. LMAO you will only comment to defend Trump’s exact quotes but not provide any original thoughts of your own. Hilarious. Thanks for proving my point.
  11. Thank for answering the question How will he actually flood Greenland with businesses? Force Greenland to accept mass migration of MAGA-friendly businesspeople from USA? What if Greenland refuses to accept those people or grant them business licenses? What kind of business would an American open in Greenland anyway? I know Denmark granted USA military access to Greenland back in 1941 (which defeats Trump’s claim that US needs it for Atlantic security since US military is already there) but I don’t know that it’s permission to build unlimited bases without their approval. Danish intelligence has already reported that Trump operatives are already in Greenland attempting to recruit local collaborators and influencers compile lists of potential local enemies to discredit and isolate and to catalog anti-Denmark narratives and propaganda opportunities that will resonate with locals. If any foreign government were doing this in USA Americans would already be called a hostile act. Under Trump if you even remind military members that under US law they have a legal obligation to disobey illegal orders, you’re guilty of sedition, but apparently it’s perfectly fine for them to convince members of an allied country to commit treason and collaborate with a country trying to annex them.
  12. Not to me there wasn’t. Unless you’re talking about my opinion of Robosmith. But that’s not the topic of this thread and that came after you already dodged others’ question on your stance on Greenland. And you CONTINUE TO DODGE You are here shitting on everyone else’s opinion while refusing repeated requests to provide an opinion of your own. That is the definition of an INTERNET TROLL. Why are you only trolling this thead? Because you only mindlessly apologize for Trump AFTER he does something and parrot whatever flimsy justification he or his muppets put out afterwards. But you have NO IDEA what Trump might do or say about Greenland and you don’t want to say something now that might be offside with what happens in future You’re afraid to say annexing Greenland would be wrong or that Trump would never cross a line like that because you’re afraid he might actively do it and - horror of horrors- you’ll be wrong on the internet! Worst of all you’ll have accidentally criticized your messiah which is a cardinal sin in MAGAland. OTOH you’re afraid to sayTrump will or should annex Greenland because you know there is absolutely no intelligent legal moral or ethical argument for it whatsoever and you don’t (yet) have any MAGA lies and talking points to mindlessly parrot. Don’t worry I’m sure we’ll soon hear how Greenlanders are actually “narco-terrorists” flooding USA with Fentanyl or similar such nonsense. It’s coming. And then you can parrot away. But until such time as you’re actively willing to contribute to the topic why don’t you stop the trolling?
  13. What question? You’re still dodging you chickenshit. Do you or do you not believe Trump will actually forcibly annex Greenland (not buy it, not “make a deal” for it, but acquire it coercively) as he has stated? If so do you support it?
  14. Sounds like you’re assuming that US pulling out of NATO means some sort of complete trade embargo I don’t think US leaving NATO means Canadian defence manufacturing can’t get components from US suppliers or vice versa. Now if you’re talking about a situation where USA is now an enemy of NATO then yeah all sorts of supply chains will get disrupted, but it cuts both ways. US also depends Canadian/ European equipment and subcontractors, not to the same degree but enough to take many critical systems and capabilities offline BAE, Saab, Thales, Kongsberg, Airbus and Leonardo and others are major contractors to the US militar, as are to a less critical extent Bombardier CAE and Wescam in Canada. Yes Canada being cut out of all the subcomponents contracts would have an economic impact but doe the US military would have an operational impact. But the silver lining for those companies is that if you’re business is making wheel bearings for a US Army vehicle it ain’t that hard to instead make wheel bearings for a non-US construction vehicle Trump is already providing companies the incentive to decouple from integrated US supply chains and I’m sure that after a little turbulence these subs and sub-subs will find non-US alternatives for the materials they need. As for GDLSC and it’s canadian-ness: interestingly I read a blog the other day about the “Canadianess” of GDLSC and Lockheed Martin Canada. The crux of it is that the people in those companies, while now “owned” by a US parent, still consider themselves a Canadian company. They were originally Canadian companies before being bought by the US multinational and they have all of the Canadian-specific expertise, military government relationships etc that they’ve built over generations as different owners have come and gone and they operate autonomously from the US HQ, which doesn’t know anything about Canada or anyone in the Canadian government or military. Before it became GDLSC about 20-25 years ago it was GM Defence Canada, and before that it was Canadian Locomotive Company, cranking out vehicles for the World wars and train locomotives and heavy machinery as far back as the 1850’s before Canada was even a country. Apparently that is a very big part of their culture and identity, a lot of ex-Canadian military work there and they have a very close relationship with the Canadian Army and if you go there and suggest they’re not Canadian you’re going to have a bad day. Apparently all the GDLS subsidiaries around the world are like that: very distinct culturally and technically, highly localized skill/knowledge and fairly autonomous from the parent. Similar story apparently with LMC, which is closely tied to the RCAF, was originally the Canadian Marconi Company founded in 1903 then later bought by Canadair (then a government-owned aerospace corporation) and later sold to LMC in the 90s. Just sharing some fun facts I read recently.
  15. Those Canadian and European companies would just pivot (eventually) to each other as defence products in a new non-US NATO would have to go waaay up. Or they would pivot to something else entirely. Most Canadian “defence” companies - and there aren’t that many - are dual-use manufacturers rather than pure-play military. The real problem is that as soon as US leaves NATO, Russia will likely pounce on the Baltic and maybe Finland and NATO won’t be ready. to respond.
  16. Do ANY of the MAGA trolls on this forum have the gonads to actually admit Trump has ZERO moral ethical or legal justification to forcibly annex Greenland from a NATO ally? Can ANY of them even try to explain with a straight face how this is anything different than when Hitler annexed Poland or when Putin annexed Crimea? What I see is them all avoiding the topic
  17. The guy who shot Reagan wasn’t “left” he was just crazy and did it to try to get the attention of actress Jodie Foster, with whom he was obsessed. If only he knew she was a lesbian he might have himself some trouble. Talk about barking up the wrong tree. But if you want to talk about historical figures getting shot you might want to start with JFK and Martin Luther King, both shot by right wing extremists. .
  18. The so-called “BLM riots” aren’t “left”. Thats black people protesting police brutality. It’s not “left” just because they’re black and now racism actually exists. There were also people who were just out to loot and cause mayhem but have no political beliefs It’s probably also impossible for you to imagine that just because they’re not MAGA cultists doesn’t mean they’re left wing or democrat supporters. Many black people believe that as far as their interests are concerned the Dems are no better than republicans. One of the would-be Trump assassins had voted for Trump. The other had been a Republican Party member Other notable right wing attacks Oklahoma City Bombing Atlanta Olympics bombing HUNDREDS of abortion clinic bombings, arson attacks shootings and assassinations Charleston Church shooting Charlottesville car attack El Paso Walmart shooting Wisconsin Sikh Temple Shooting INCEL mass shootings Tree of Life Synagogue shooting Portland Train attack 2020 Boogaloo murders Caesar Sayoc Jan 6 insurrection 75–80% of U.S. domestic terrorism fatalities since about 2001, and the majority of the deadliest incidents are motivated by various right wing ideologies. .
  19. Dodging is the only way a coward can earn a badge. Here you go. Let me know when you grow the testicles to answer the question honestly.
  20. Trump has said repeatedly that he’s going to annex Greenland, militarily if necessary. Do you deny it?
  21. Hey did you hear they caught thenJan 6 pipe bomber? A Trump supporting nutjob who believed his stolen election lies. What do you say about that?
  22. And yet Trump is keeping all those officials in place rather than transitioning to the democratically elected opposition party or the Nobel prize-winning activist. Hmmmm.
  23. You are stealing the oil, Trump said so. He has said very little -almost nothing- about freedom and democracy and wellbeing of the Venezuelan people other than to arbitrarily dismiss the idea of holding an election or installing the winner of the last election , but has said quite a bit about how he plans to plunder their oil. And if the Maduro regime is so illegitimate and a gang of heinous “narco-terrorists” that are no different than al-Qaeda then why is he keeping them all in power?
