Army has two variants in development for the next modular assault rifle Jan 7, 2024 | Equipment, News, Procurement … Since 2017, the Army has moved ahead with the new C20 and C21 sniper rifles and is now introducing the Sig Sauer P320 as its new pistol of choice, designated the C22. But replacing its Colt Canada C7 family of standard-length assault rifles and shorter and lighter C8 carbines remains a work in progress. Both have proven effective in various theatres of operation, but they have been in service for more than three decades. Major Carl Gendron, who directs the Army’s small arms and light weapons program, says their effectiveness has been eroded over the years by simple wear and tear. He told Canadian Army Today that Canada has reached a point within NATO, where it ranks near the bottom in terms of assault rifle modernity. “We’re not competitive with what’s been available for the last 20 years and they do start to degrade with time.” Most NATO countries have “moved on” and Canada is “overdue to bring its capabilities up to speed,” he said. Gendron warned that “our operators who use their assault rifles for dismounted offensive operations or personal protection now risk being overmatched by adversaries using readily available technologies.” The Army’s solution is the Canadian Modular Assault Rifle (CMAR), which could be adopted to various tactical scenarios by changing components procured through Colt’s subcontractors or other certified manufacturers. The expectation is a weapon it says will “enhance the awareness, lethality and protection of deployed CAF members.”… …There is ongoing debate about the ammunition. For decades, the Canadian Army has used the 5.56 mm NATO calibre, one of five NATO time-tested standards, which range up to 12.7mm. The U.S. Army has been pushing for more combat punch with their Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) using a new 6.8 mm cartridge. Without going into details, Gendron has acknowledged that he and his team of elite shooters, weapons technicians and engineers have shot both the NGSW’s XM7 and XM250, and are tracking the NGSW program. While not opposed to new technologies, Gendron’s response was that there are serious considerations to using magnum-level cartridges and that, until a new assault rifle cartridge is agreed upon by NATO, the 5.56 is “sufficiently potent” for how it’s used by Canadian troops.… Full story https://canadianarmytoday.com/army-has-two-variants-in-development-for-the-next-modular-assault-rifle/

Israel’s “mowing the grass” policy is not a conspiracy it’s their policy. Of course Netanyahu is not going to admit to any blunder he’s going to blame it all on Hamas and claim prior to Oct 7 they did what they could. Just like Bush on 9-11, Republicans were the party on watch, the party who based their brand on security and defence, and they maintained that brand after 9-11, started an unnecessary war in Iraq and then profited big time in the 2004 and even later elections in congress and states. Netanyahu just confirmed that again there will never be a Palestinian state he said. So then either you keep mowing the grass with further occupation or you commitng a war crime/ genocide by depopulating the Palestinian Territories. there are only those 3 options and he has ruled out the only peaceful one. Only the Israeli people will decide if his failure to properly mow the grass is excusable. We will see. They’re playing the same game, neither interested in peace both wanting maximalist outcomes that only ensure more conflict that’s all that matters One is a criminal the other is a dirty cop which means they’re both criminals that’s the comparison. It doesn’t matter that the dirty cop isn’t a criminal as often as the other guy that’s what you don’t get. More October 7 attacks, or worse, expansion to a wider conflict, it can get worse. The reason why everyone is reacting to October 7 is because it’s NOT normal, it’s an escalation. Support for Hamas was low before Oct 7. Israel’s response has ensured it would be high for the foreseeable future. You really believe once the existing Hamas members are dead there will he no more terrorism? Do you also believe that once all the existing criminals are dead there will be no more crime? Terrorism, like crime, is the result of broader conditions not the cause of them. For every Hs terrorist Israel is killing tjey are creating thousands of future terrorists and terrorist supporters with their brutality. They’re killing women and children by the thousands, last count I saw which was probably a couple of weeks ago was 14,000 women and children out of 20,000. So some fraction of the 6,000 males are Hamas. That’s not efficient or proportional , even if there was a valid security justification which there is not for the reasons aI describe above. BS. Warring countries always make peace with each other eventually. Israel is at peace with Germany, you might have heard something about Germany calling for extermination. The hardliners on both sides want more more war amd they benefit politically when ears happen. There are people on both sides who want peace and support for peace among Israelis and Palestinian was at 65% before Rabin’s assassination. The peace process has been delusional since because Netanyahu and Likud and other hardliners have been in charge practically ever since with a couple of exceptions.
-
Unfortunately what you are proposing is a war crime as has been pointed out here many times. You cannot kill civilians as punishment for the actions of their government And the “without provocation” is even a slippery slope since the conflict goes back generations and a Palestinian might argue that Israelis have been killing their women and children every day for decades through harsh occupation, blockades etc so to only start the clock on Oct 7 and only punish Palestinians is unfair.
-
No that’s not how human beings work during war they always rally around the flag. That’s exactly what happened in the US after 9-11 and Republicans took full of advantage of it for their fraudulent Iraq invasion and a landslide 2004 election. People will always hate the attacker more than the person whose mismanagement or dishonesty might have provoked the attack - if they even are willing to believe they provoked the attack . If Trudeau “got us bombed” by ISIS or North Korea or something, and now we’re at full scale war with ISI troops in the streets amd Trudeau leading rhe defenders, people would at least temporarily rally around Trudeau. Provoking a war to gin up domestic support is the oldest trick in the book, and something that Netanyahu’s Likud party and Hamas both have quite a long history of doing. .

LMAO you’re such a clown it’s hilarious! I’ve been wrong about what exactly? I haven’t been wrong about anything! YOU are the one whose been saying all along that Russia will win any day now. You’ve been wrong this whole time and you’re still wrong! But here’s a treat for delusional mind: They’re Just Choosing Where To Die.’ When Russia’s Poorly-Trained Stormtroopers Retreat, Russian Barrier Troops Gun Them Down. ‘Death awaits them behind and in front.’ Along the most critical axes of Russia’s faltering winter offensive in Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders are inflicting devastating casualties on Russian attackers. It’s possible that, around Avdiivka in northeastern Ukraine, the Russian 2nd and 41st Combined Arms Armies are losing 10 troops for every one Ukrainian casualty. Many people might struggle to understand why the Russians would keep fighting when every assault is virtual suicide for the soldiers at the front of the attack. But remember: many Russian assault troops don’t have a choice. If the Ukrainian army doesn’t get them, their own army might. That’s because, 23 months into Russia’s wider war on Ukraine, Russian regiments and brigades routinely deploy “blocking” or “barrier” troops whose job is to, ahem, “encourage” Storm-Z assault units to keep advancing. In World War II, blocking units sometimes shot retreating Soviet troops. More often, they arrested them and sent them back to the front. While it’s possible today’s blocking or barrier troops usually function as de facto military police—arresting retreating Storm-Z troops rather than killing them—there is evidence of barrier troops opening fire on their countrymen. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2024/01/18/theyre-just-choosing-where-to-die-when-russias-poorly-trained-stormtroopers-retreat-russian-barrier-troops-gun-them-down/?sh=1fc4a3c075a0

Putin has been trying and failing to take Odessa and the rest of Ukraine for 2 years. He’s not holding back, he’s barely holding on to what what has and his military is losing soldiers by the thousands every week. Not to mention vehicles amd equipment. He in hoc to Iran, China and North Korea up to his eyeballs trying to keep his military afloat. If Ukraine is out ox men and Putin can take Odessa any time he wants “out of spite” then why isn’t he winning any battles or capturing any new ground? He’s just been sending suicide waves of his own subjects to their deaths as cannon fodder with nothing to show for it, how do you explain that genius? He’s made no progress whatsoever since Ukraine’s original 2023 offensive pushed him back across the Dnipro. Of course in you knew Russia would take Eastern Ukraine. Russia did that in 2014 via Kremlin-controlled militias and Wagner mercenaries that Putin created

Ukraine has stopped Russia’s attempt to takeover the entire country in its tracks and Russia has no way to proceed with its original plan. Even if Russia keeps the territory it stole their invasion has been a disaster. In the USSR’s ten years of fighting in Afghanistan they had 50,000 killed and wounded before they retreated, now they have 6 times that in just 2 years of their invasion of Ukraine you clueless goof.
-
LMAO you make no sense you fool. Meanwhile dictator Putin just banned the Ukrainian language from schools in the parts of Ukraine he “liberated”

And drones and autonomous machines. Maybe we’ll see the invention a small and silent self-driving battery powered trench-clearing machine, barely knee-high, that looks like a heavily armoured footlocker on tracks with shotgun and a LMG barrels sticking out the front and back. It just quietly slips the into the trench and works its way through killing everything it sees then detonates a high fragmentation explosive if it determines it can’t return to base. The real life Terminator origin story! WB Dougie

Those are the facts from any source that’s not controlled by Putin. If there are no men of fighting age left ell then surely Russia will win any day now ow, right? This weekend? Next week? Surely by the end of the month? At least make some major gains and capture large sections of new territory right? So what’s the excuse going to be when that doesn’t happen? I mean you’ve been saying “Russia is going to win any day now” for 2 years and all Russia has done is lose a third of a million men with nothing to show for it. And all you’ve done is show everyone what a gullible clueless fool you are.
-
LMAO In your dreams Putin puppet! Its half a million casualties (not deaths)on BOTH SIDES COMBINED with Russian casualties being far greater, more than 300,000 As much as you try to pretend that self-defence is not a valid reason for violence nobody believes you and we know you’re full of shit as you seem to support Israel’s military action against Putin’s ally Hamas. Meanwhile Putin is forcing Ukrainians in occupied Ukraine to fight for Russia, yet another war crime, and arresting and interrogating Ukrainians on the whereabouts of Ukrainian men who have avoided his impressment gangs. That’s on top of emptying his prisons for his army.

-
Sure, that’s how geopolitics has always worked since ancient times. Good, Better than Putin going around annexing territory unopposed like Hitler in the 30s.
-
Lmao. Does that pink part look like 1/3 to you? You’re such a stooge. The Russians are the ones who coined the term “useful idi0ts” to refer to people like you.

Typical Fraser Institute propaganda you would expect from the Sun. I haven’t read anything about how the program is currently fairing but the article in the OP is almost word-for-word what the right wing said 60 years ago when we brought in public healthcare. “But the business profits!” The article doesn’t mention anything about how it might be helping (or harming) actual people in need of childcare. Like all Fraser Institute nonsense it’s always only about profits, never about people. Also notice the continued deceptive language with use of “and the families they serve” as if the “entrepreneurs” and the families struggling to pay them are on the same side and are 100% simpatico on the subject. Here watch me do it: “Food safety regulations, which are openly hostile to the private for-profit sector, remain a calamity for restaurant entrepreneurs and the families they serve.” Or “Vehicle safety regulations, which are openly hostile to the private for-profit sector, remain a calamity for used car entrepreneurs and the families they serve”. Or “Public sanitation, which is openly hostile to the private for-profit sector, remains a calamity for waste management entrepreneurs and the families they serve”

Let’s recap: Firstly I accurately stated that Russia would never attack NATO directly, then YOU butted in to say “oh yeah well NATO would never attack Russia directly” which is not in dispute and irrelevant to the discussion bit is the start of the “I lnow you are hut what am I retorts” And the whole “freedumbs” line was invented over a decade ago to make fun of Tea Party types with their misspelled signs and lack of basic knowledge and understanding Now you’re ate all to describe people who oppose a dictator like Putin?
-
NATO and Russia will never attack eachother, period. The only people screaming freedumb and dumbocracy are the Trumptard Putin supporters who wish America had a right wing dictator just like Putin and are doing everything at home and abroad to ensure that happens.

Pfffft…..after trying and failing for 2 years to put 100% of Ukraine under his control and loosing a third of a million soldiers in the process. Russia basically controls the same amount of Ukrainian territory they did before the 2022 invasion. And Russia only controls 17.5% of Ukrainian territory, which is more like a sixth not a third. The only blood sucking monster destroying Ukraine and with a need for death is Putin, you shameless brainless propagandist. And not death, the death of the oppressed subjects living under his dictatorship…the expendables Sounds like they’re getting fed up with it too: Putin faces biggest riots since war as 10k take to streets & clash with cops The riots have been described as Russia’s worst incident of civil strife since the conflict with Ukraine began in February 2022 https://www.the-sun.com/news/10117620/putin-riots-war-clash-cops/ Putin ‘turns off heating in prisons to force inmates to sign up to fight in Ukraine’ as temperatures plunge to -55C https://www.newsbreak.com/news/3298149271901-putin-turns-off-heating-in-prisons-to-force-inmates-to-sign-up-to-fight-in-ukraine-as-temperatures-plunge-to-55c

Dude - read it again and actually think before you write for a change. It clearly says he was impeached one week prior to leaving office so you might want to try amd use some brain cells to figure out the discrepancy between that and the February date also mentioned in the same post. Clearly the vote to impeach was before he left office, the actual impeachment hearing itself started in February Get it? From the same article Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, was impeached for the second time on January 13, 2021, one week before his term expired.

It is definitely not “welcome to Trudeau’s Canada” which basically implies this is a circumstance of his making. Also the PM is not a god who can remake every facet of society on a whim or simply dictate criminal sentences to the courts on a whim. The judiciary is an independent branch of government
-
Because: He was impeached by the House seven days prior to the expiration of his term and At the beginning of the trial, Senator Rand Paul forced a vote to dismiss the impeachment charge on the basis that it was unconstitutional to try a former president, arguing that impeachment only applies to current federal officers and that the punishment of removal from office was moot under the circumstances. Supporters of proceeding with the trial argued that the Constitution also permits disqualification from holding future office, which the House had requested in its article of impeachment. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_impeachment_trial_of_Donald_Trump#:~:text=The second impeachment trial of,Representatives on January 13%2C 2021. Russia’s GDP is smaller than Canada’s. Their military is corrupt and incompetent and their soldiers are dying by the tens of thousands in Ukraine. Putin has to keep one eye over his shoulder on his own Oligarchs and warlords and worry about potential breakaway republics in places like Chechnya if his military is tied up for too long in a costly conflict and he’s perceived as to weak to counter their moves In short he would never attack NATO directly. If he did it would come from some indirect proxy like Wagner or some ragtag militia like the one he raise ld in Eastern Ukraine or possibly a puppet state like Belarus or Serbia. .

Impeachment is only for a sitting president you thundering m0ron. Impeachment means prosecuting a holder of public office. You don’t impeach ex-presidents or someone who has already left office Nixon wasn’t impeached because he resigned first. His Republican criminal pal pardoned him to avoid a normal investigation prosecution of crooked republicans, kicking off a rich Republican tradition that every GOP president has followed. Don’t you ever get embarrassed by how little you know? Seriously.
