What was never talked about until very recent times was how the flu outbreak that began at the Army recruiting base early in 1918 was the first example of press censorship in American newspapers. The Brits and French must of been aware of the thousands of sick among the American draftees coming over to France, but the news blackout extended to them also. And because Spain was neutral during the war, and freely reporting on the pandemic, it became associated with Spain afterwards, and the Allies never gave a thought to getting the correct story out even 3 years later when the plague had morphed into a disease that attacked the immune systems of young, healthy men and women. And that btw, is why these clowns who run around whining about vaccines, masks and social restrictions are so dangerous today! So, they may have gotten too greedy for their own good! But, make no mistake about it, the virus is real! And the risks of infection causing sickness and death + the risks of permanent disabilities from 'long covid' symptoms, may in fact be the worst aspect of Covid-19. It's possible that vaccine complications are being diminished and underplayed right now; but the risks pale in comparison to what this new disease is capable of! I'm always amazed at how so many rightwingers claim such suspicion of authorities and yet believe so called medical experts know everything there is to know about a brand new disease! It would take months or years to determine how well each vaccine does at preventing asymptomatic vaccinated people from carrying the virus and exposing it to others. That's why the masks will have to stay in place...at least indoors for some time yet.

Yeah, nice 'ally' we got on our southern border, that will send vaccines to Israel before allowing vaccines....most of which we've paid for, to be shipped across the border to Canada! Here in Southern Ontario, we're being told that the vaccinations are moving right along and we all should be covered in a month or so. All I know is my wife and me have been waiting to get the call to get ready for an AZ vaxx appointment. Should be simple: you lock down for real; test and trace those who might have been exposed; prevent those who have the disease from spreading it to others, and you don't end mask mandates and other protective measures until the disease is eradicated! CBC was just running a story on the 12:00 news about a relatively young mother who has cancer, but can't get in and have an operation in the near term because emergency wards are full of Covid cases again! How do we factor in the people who are dying because our decrepit and declining health care systems are putting the lives of non-Covid cases at risk?

If you weren't aware of it, our Sun has been slowly growing hotter as time goes by, and was much cooler 250 million years ago when those dinosaurs started developing. Because our mammalian ancestors were also starting out at the same time as the reptiles( and dinosaurs) during the late Permian era about 250 million years ago, until the Earth's land masses started breaking up, unleashing a chain of massive volcanic activity...like the creation of the Siberian Traps...the large volcanic balsalt flood plain that covers more than a quarter of Siberia's land mass today. At the end of the Permian, the Traps was like an open wound in Planet Earth...oozing lava slowly and gradually for one or two million years, until they became dormant again and carbon dioxide levels could fall and the remaining life after the mass extinction could go on. The long, deadly P-T Extinction gave an early advantage to the reptiles over our mammalian ancestors at the time for unknown reasons, and had to live in the margins...most early mammals burrowing underground where it was a little safer and easier to survive the 180 million year eras of dinosaurs roaming the earth. There were two mass extinctions separating the first era of dinosaurs - Triassic, from the era known for the great sauropods - the Jurassic. And another extinction that led to the final dinosaur era - Cretaceous...where T-Rex and Triceratops battled it out on open plains. And of course, mammals wouldn't finally have their chance to be the dominant group of animals until an asteroid hit (combined with volcanic activity of the Deccan Traps...which had been caused by the runaway Indian Continent moving north and crashing into Asia. So, to sum it all up, a mass extinction paved the way for the rise of dinosaurs, and two major extinctions separated three eras of dinosaurs, until finally, the dinosaurs were all gone because of an asteroid hit and the forming of the Deccan Traps 63 million years ago, cleared the dinosaurs and other major reptile species (except for birds) paved the way for our mammal ancestors to finally take the stage. What this all should tell us is that our planet's long history is far too complicated and still too full of gaps to make simplistic then and now comparisons! *the gradual increase in solar output over time is why our planet's atmosphere transitioned from heat-trapping to becoming more and more heat-expelling as it first lost all of its methane and ammonia 2 billion years ago, and the first lifeforms expelling oxygen as a waste product gave rise to plants. During those microbial world times, oxygen levels rose, the last heat-trapping gas - CO2 began a long steady decline in atmospheric content that is still going on today.....until humans decide to industrialize and fuck it all up! And that's why you can't compare then and now over an expanse of millions of years! The earliest modern humans only came along less than 200,000 years ago. And any claims of what our climate should or should not be, need to account for how our ancestors lived and what they had to adapt to as they moved out around the world and tried to live and survive in as many places as possible.

With all of the over-emphasis on vaccines that took off a year ago, when big pharma realized that being first to market a successful candidate for Covid-19 vaccine would be the equivalent and winning a major lottery, the story got lost in our media narratives that over in the east, China, the Koreas, Taiwan, New Zealand and to a slightly lesser extent - Japan and Australia, had already stopped the spread of Covid and were in the process of containing any potential spread LONG before vaccines arrived! It should have been a warning sign a year ago, that our medical experts and political reps were talking about "flattening the curve" or slowing down the spread of Covid-19 with the hopes that numbers would continue declining or at least stabilize until the vaccines were ready for market and distribution. BUT, Covid-19 may never reach 'herd immunity' any more than the flu achieves herd immunity. Some people have better immune response to infection than others, and that's all we will likely have with Covid-19 also. The only hope right now of stopping Covid-19 from spreading like a wildfire around the world, lighting up one country after another in a cycle of decline, followed by more surges of new Covid variants, is if a serious, concerted attack is made against the international corporate structures that have used patents and copyright protections to create monopolies. So, don't think it will all just go away this summer...with or without vaccines! Some of us who have a little sense are going to be putting on masks every time there's a flareup in the future, just as travelers to South Korea tell us that during flu season, everyone on the streets of major cities is wearing a mask. And so, people I know who've gone there say they find themselves doing the same thing because it's part of the culture to show you social responsibility to wear a mask to do your part to reduce the odds of transmitting the disease to others. Plandemic means that you believe that Sars-Cov-2 is a designed and not a naturally evolving virus. Anyway, early on in March of last year, when I had a day off work with nothing much to do, I spent a few hours going over the public (non-paywalled) research evidence that was available to anyone who wanted to read about Sars-Cov-2, including how contagious it was (extremely because of its long asymptomatic period after infecting a host) and lethality...which was much harder to estimate because of so many unknowns...like how many had mild infections and just assumed it was the flu because of flu-like symptoms. The takeaway is that just by examining the DNA code of a virus and comparing it with similar coronaviruses, they can measure its 'family tree' so to speak...tell when it likely mutated and branched off from similar viruses. While a lab-designed coronavirus would have so many alterations and would include 'self-destruct' sequences in its genetic code to stop it from mutating and spreading once it had likely infected the desired number of hosts. In other words, the last thing the evil warmongers in the DOD or the Chinese equivalent want is a weapon that will do what Sars-Cov-2 has done: gone global and infected millions, already killing more than a million people in the world! The bio-weapon disease...whether bacteria or virus needs to sicken and kill high numbers within a relatively short radius and for a limited time...so that it doesn't go wild and do what this disease has done and will continue to do for the foreseeable future. So, stick a fork in "Plandemic" unless you have proof for it! Because Bill Gates has only proven himself as an evil genius where it comes to increasing his wealth! He did not do the majority of the work on his computer operating systems and later Microsoft products. Like the other Silicon Valley bastards, he's just the one who ruthlessly hoovers up most of the profits for himself. I don't know what his stake is at Pfizer, Moderna or other creators of mRNA vaccines, but it is likely a bigger goldmine now than computers and the internet; because the scientists who started working on mRNA research several years ago were intending to develop it for cancer research, and then the opportunities presented by new, deadly viruses - MERS and SARS started to jump up 20 years ago, and all of Big Pharma was just waiting and salivating, waiting for something like Sars-Cov-2 to come along and give them a Trillion Dollar opportunity! THAT is the GREAT GLOBAL RESET they were expecting would arrive with the new Covid-19 plague. The problem is that this plague had got so big, so fast that in spite of our carefully controlled and manipulated media and social media, there is a growing chorus of outrage rising up from the Global South at the way this pandemic has been exploited for profit-taking at the expense of peoples' lives! So now, Slow Joe has to backpedal on the "importance of patent protection" and waive the patent monopolies on US-based big pharma suppliers. Hold your horses...as my grandfather would say! GDP measures the market value of finished goods and services over time. And GDP can go up.....OR DOWN for a variety of reasons. Since "finished goods" tells us that for example: an undeveloped, unexploited forest full of trees is worth nothing...until it is converted into lumber, paper or other useful products, that should serve as a warning that the continually increased exploitation of the natural environment has been ruining one ecosystem after another. A few centuries ago....before European colonialization had spread out, seeking new lands to exploit, to add needed food and resources for their populations back home, there was a fear that growing populations using wood and charcoal for fuel would cut down all of the trees in England. Over the past century, formal slavery and colonialization was replaced with a looser system of internationally enforced debt-bondage saddling the citizens of third world...supposedly independent former colonies with unpayable levels of debt....designed to keep their people working harder and harder in increasingly unhealthy and degrading conditions. Today, the same conditions are experienced by most working people living in increasing poverty at the heart of the empires. Finally, for all of the talk about political, economic and especially tax reform, I end up seeing it all as a waste of oxygen today! Because the forces that are driving modern, genocidal late-stage capitalism are being driven by attempting to live beyond the means of what nature will provide, and I haven't even gotten to the BIG CRISIS of late-stage capitalism, now that we are supposedly in a new era of 'green' technologies! So, Elon became an unofficial member of the US military-industrial complex....because that's the only way the large amounts of lithium he will need to make his dream of homes powered by 'renewables' and large lithium battery packs at all possible....let alone all of the stupid electric cars he wants to put on the roads all over the world! So, when it comes to real, likely predictions about the future, I side with a marginalized doomer skeptic and former mining engineer - Christopher Clugston, who wrote an informative if dry read 12 years ago called "Scarcity" which could be sluggish reading as Clugston takes the reader through page after page of statistics on recoverable metals, energy costs and increasing mountains of contaminated useless slag. In 2019, he wrote another book ( I don't have) called "Blip: Humanity's 300 year self-terminating experiment with industrialism" which places our era of industrial civilization that began with the first coal-fired steam engines in the 1750's, as blip in human history....let alone natural history of this planet! Clugston isn't the first doomer to predict an end or an devolving of our civilization, but is at least the most informed. By his measures, modern civilization will be done by 2050, with or without climate change, with or without peak oil, and with or without any green new deal idea. Now, 30 years from now, will GDP still be increasing?

I never went to university, but I have done a lot of reading on my own over the past 45 years since I left school. I have come across a few historians and sociologists....Jared Diamond jumps out as one of the more prolific and popular writers who theorize that complexity increases inequality and divisions within a society, and that becomes a civilization killer as societies progress and become too complicated and brittle, and unable to adjust to outside pressures like drought and climate change. And now, some scientists studying the collapse of the last Pueblo civilization in the American Southwest believe that is the primary reason why the last Pueblo settlements completely disappeared and left the area. Because my point is that, even if liberals and soc-dems are being nice and taxing the rich more/and giving more to the poor, they are still doing this with money they don't have and cannot pay back unless they can confiscate more wealth from poor nations or leave our future generations with permanent debts hanging over their heads. Now, this long article posted on CBC over a week ago, provides the whole history of Canada's vaccine development and production through the decline in the 70's, the converting of Connaught Labs into a Crown corporation (under the expectation that it would eventually turn profits and be sold off in the future) was privatized by Mulroney back in the 80's, with the promise that Canada would have better vaccine capabilities after selling it all off to foreign companies. The only one of the buyers who kept any part of that business in Canada is the French company - Sanofi, which only produces vaccines for diptheria, tetanus and polio.....mostly for export, and cannot be ramped up to making Covid-19 vaccines anyway. The problem is the glorious investors you worship. All people like this are interested in is making money. So, if profits are good from selling to sick and desperate people, they'll do it, but everything they do is about profits, NOT serving the public, so put a fork in it! These shouldn't be for-profit businesses to begin with! Because the people making the discoveries, inventing new cures and especially producing the products, are not getting rich off this. It's the bloodsuckers who own the companies that make the billions off of their rising share values!

Because, if they were working on a real criminal investigation of Donald Trump, why were they dicking around with a fake Russiagate set of conspiracy theories, that only worked as a smear campaign against Trump and the Russian Government, while every breathless claim delivered to CNN by John Brennan and others with access, kept vanishing like a mirage when subjected to the light of day! They won't be willing to try to take him down in court, if they are at risk also.

So, most of the GDP increase of the past 30 years has gone right into the pockets of the top 1% and their professionals who run their businesses for them. It's because most working people don't quite understand how they are being screwed over, but know that ruling class politicians on the slightly left and right only represent elite interests, is why so many are angry and disillusioned with what they are offered. This is how fascist movements start up, and move in and take over during chaotic and desperate times! The ruling classes have much greater fear of communism or even watered down forms of leftism than they do authoritarian rightwing movements that provide a clear leadership they can buy off and mostly coopt for their purposes... i.e. Hitler and Mussolini, and let's not forget Franco and the longtime fascist leader of Portugal, who were never removed from power after WWII ended.
