  1. Uhhh, mirror would have to have worked at some point in his life to have gotten a UI cheque. Seriously, what are the odds of that?
  2. Stan, Are you sure you are allowed to question the veracity of randomly quoted numbers posted by the left on this board?
  3. Yeah, like those freaks are ever going to form government.
  4. Yeah, like those freaks are ever going to form government.
  5. Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your typical stupidity and misconstruing of comments is very typical. This poll of yours doesn't deal with what I said. Never said he would be ranked as the best PM since John A. Alas you are too stupid and stuck in your sad little world of unemployment and too small track pants to actually respond to something on point. You are a dumb f**king moron. Who will be whining about PM Harper for the four years following the next election. Sad sad little man (excepting the size of your arse) that you are.
  6. I completely disagree with your first paragraph. Mulroney did a lot of good things in office. Chretien will be remembered rather well and poor Mr. Dithers. Two straight minority governments (as a best-case scenario) then retiring means history will vilify him. Mostly agree with the second paragraph. Canada will be better off in the long-run for rejecting Meech. I truly hope Quebec does stay in Canada. What I think it will take is another lost separation referendum, followed by a provincial Liberal win in Quebec.
  7. No, for supporters of the CPC Bush has always been a mixed bag at best. Yet again, making the blanket assumption that the CPC is automatically in tuned with 'conservatives' in the U.S. Did you find track pants to fit your arse yet? Wal-mart is the place for you. Just wanted to be clear about that.
  8. There`s the problem. Harper was definitely acting in a statesmanlike manner with that deal, yet you still attack him for not doing it earlier. It is fair to say you interpret his actions in the worst possible light and don't give him credit for anything. IMHO a sensible budget deal would have included tax breaks for working families, giving them the option to choose how to provide daycare to their children. The CPC isn't obsessed with following the path of Bush republicans. many of us see Bush for the flawed, flawed man that he is.
  9. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's from today's Globe and Mail online poll for any of y'all worried about copyright infringement or such. Seems to me like the majority of respondents (63%) want an election by Spring 2006 at the latest. Yet again, Mirror's analysis, in this case the idea of minority government's 'rubbing off on voters' is far too nuanced for the likes of me to understand.
  10. Actually Harper played the statesman repeatedly in that parliament. For example, agreeing to pairing so cabinet ministers could attend ceremonies marking VE Day, alas forgotten in the shuffle. Please give ONE example of something statesmanlike Harper could have done to win your vote. Hmmm thought so...
  11. So you are chastising Harper for not peddling his arse? Hmm a lot of Canadians, were and still are, pissed about Adscam. Harper took a risk, with a reasonable chance at winning an election they tried to force - (the NDs have NEVER had a reasonable chance to win a federal election) Harper took his shot. Got love you attacking him for not going for the short-term minor gain.
  12. You are making a big ASSumption that such an offer was ever on the table. Never ever heard anything about that before here and now. What was the offer?
  13. Damn right on all counts. Another big accomplishment of Mulroney's was setting the regulatory environment for the big boom of the 90s. He shoulda done more on reducing the deficit , but Trudeau did f**k things up pretty well on the fiscal front.
  14. All depends on what you consider the greater public good. A party that has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to medicare, will pay down the debt quickly and will get rid of corruption in government sounds to me like it is working in the best interest of the greater public good. Oh wait, that is the Conservative Party of Canada. Let the hate-fest begin.
  15. A party that has NEVER matched the vote total of any right of centre party in any election, that includes 93-97 and 2000) when their votes were split between the PCs and the Reform/Alliance, is going to all of a sudden attract all the disaffected Liberals. Hmmm... me thinks thou art dreaming. btw wtf does hold the remote control mean?
  16. Two points. 1. mirror you are familiar with the story of the pot and the kettle? 2. you can't work with the amount of time you are on here. But nice attempt at changing the subject.
  17. Can you see anything with clarity? Nobody wanted a winter election. A spring election gives the CPC and the BQ that much longer to hammer Dithers et. al over the contents of Gomery.
  18. Which would mean that the minimum is too high, I would guess....
  19. Great analysis Argus. The quote Cartman mentioned is one of the blunders. The 'Jean Chretien is ugly' ads is another. I voted Liberal because of those ads.....
  20. What happens if the rivers start flowing chocolate, Liberal corruption ends and the Leafs win the cup? We are truly living in fantasyland! NDs forming official opposition. OMG you have officially gone from annoying to deluded.
  21. Bravo sir. Bravo. Don't see it happening anytime soon, but we can only wish.
  22. So your defence of the Liberals can be summed up with the age-old "He started it." There was corruption in the Mulroney government, it was time for a change and the Canadian people got it. There has been corruption in the recent Liberal government, it is time for a change, hopefully the Canadian people get it again...
  23. The issue for the CPC isn't with the goals of the CPC. It's with the way the money was actually distributed. If you are going to lecture people on needing to inform yourselves about Quebec you should show a little better knowledge of the rest of the country. The whole west wants in thing is three parties and about ten years ago. If you knew the West, as I do, the was "wants a fair deal" would probably be more appropriate here and now. PS, MM. I completely agree with you that we shouldn't have to pay somebody to wave the flag underneath that with which we exist. Alas it was the reality of the situation at the time.
  24. It is great news for Canada and the world. A healthy, fiscally sound Japan is good news globally. The best thing is he will have smoother sailing with his reform plans because a lot of the old peckerwood LDP councillors were blocked from running again for the party. With a strong majority in both houses and solid support within his own party things will change quickly, by Japanese standards.
  25. I hear ya. But what can you do? Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. Dealing with the fact that Harper is slowly making inroads in Ontario is anaethema to the likes of certain posters. So the personal attacks come out. Best to fight back I figure. Moral victories are for chumps!
