Broberg goes eighth. figured the Oilers would reach and take him. Teams who need Defense be reaching on them, I love it, works out perfectly for the Avs at 16. Thanks Detroit and Edmonton, hopefully it makes everyone else who needs defense panic to get their guy as well, fingers crossed. -

Need over best player available is weird, especially when they could have traded down and gotten him easily. -

Wings take Seider, WTF? Yzerman could have traded down and gotten him rather safely, super strange pick. -

Best defensemen in the draft, come on down. Byram-Makar as future top pairing. *drools* -

Blackhawks take Dach, hearing that Avs might take Byram at four, it'll be either him Turcotte or Zegras. Avs on the clock. -

Draft time, so hype. -
Not true, plenty of Raptors were not from America. Siakum, Gasol, Ibaka, Anunoby and Boucher, for instance.

Yeah, he'll be my favorite NBA player no matter what he does. If he wants to go LA or NY, I can't hold it against him, The Threepeat Killer can do as he damn well pleases, he's gold no matter what. If he wants to go to the team with the best combo of chance to win and getting paid though, than Toronto is actually his best option of the five options it's been narrowed down to. -

True but he doesn't want to go to Florida, and even if he did, that's still $6 million less than Toronto can offer. Like I say, it's down to the Raptors, Clippers, Lakers, Knicks and Nets. LA has the hometown and weather advantage, on the Lakers he is in LeBron's shadow, and on the Clippers he has less of a chance of winning a title than in Toronto. The weather in New York is similar and both teams suck compared to the Raptors. So chances of Kawhi staying are actually not as low as you think. The Clippers or Lakers might poach him because of the hometown factor, and the Knicks or Nets might poach him because he can live near his uncle, but it won't be a money thing, that I can tell you. If he passes on The Raptors, he'll be turning down a lot of money, it might still be worth it to him, but if it's all about the money, he's staying. -

Maybe he doesn't, but Toronto is the only team who can give him that fifth year, all other teams can only do four. With his injury history, taking the extra year makes a lot of sense money wise, if he gets hurt and isn't in his prime after four years, he'll have passed on a lot money by not signing in Toronto. I have no idea what criteria he's using to make his decision, but the money factor doesn't work against Toronto like it would in other sports, so that certainly helps. If weather is the top criteria, the Raptors are screwed, if he wants to play in New York or LA, the Raptors are screwed, if it's money and insurance against injury, the Raptors are the best choice, if it's winning another championship, The Raptors are a good choice if Masai doesn't get poached. I hear it's basically going to come down to the Raptors, Clippers, Lakers, Knicks and Nets, only really five teams realistically in the running, and only one of them who can offer him the super max, and that's the Raptors. -

Toronto is the only team that can offer him the super max though, not signing here would be passing on tens of millions, and have less insurance in case of injury. So leaving Toronto wouldn't actually be about the money, Toronto can actually pay him more than anyone else can, despite the higher tax rate, thanks to the NBA CBA. -

If the Raptors can get Kawhi and Masai locked up, they should be the favorites to win next year, and could be a top end contender for a while, fingers crossed. -

He didn't get high draft picks either, Masai built the whole team through fleecing other GMs via trade, making the most of non-lottery picks, signing the right guys in free agency and having the balls to fire the Coach of the Year. Pure skill as GM, with so little to work with when he arrived, he's the King of the Rebuild, doesn't even need high draft picks to do it either. Absolutely remarkable, Best GM in all of sports, I don't even think the next best GM is close to him, truly next level GMing. Yzerman wishes he was as good as Masai. -

I think about him every night and day, He made DeRozan go away. I believe he can soar, Brought Kawhi Leonard through that open door. Masai is a god. Best GM in basketball, if the Raptors let anyone poach him, and don't give him the world, they are morons. I don't know why any GM would even make a trade with Masai, all he does is fleece idiot GMs with every move and they still haven't caught on. It's not even just the Kawhi trade, he has done it repeatedly long before that crown jewel was added, the Spurs should have seen the fleecing coming, but Kawhi forced their hand and Masai exploited the shit out them. -

When Klay tweaked his hamstring and I knew KD wouldn't be back, and if he did, it would be a huge mistake, I knew the Basketball Gods were with the Raptors. Then KD tears his achilles with the desperation comeback in Game 5 (which I said would happen before the game), and in Game 6 Klay tears his ACL playing through the hammy injury, and I knew Golden State was screwed. Five straight years in the finals left the Warriors decimated by injuries throughout the lineup, Looney, Iguodala and Cousins banged up too, that team was so jacked up. #LoadManagement One season of Kawhi FTW #WeTheForest -

Gotta love the Sharks overpaying aging and injury prone defensemen and giving them huge term, even when their window is essentially closed and they are trying to cling to relevance. The schadenfreude is delicious, F*ck San Josberta. $26.5 million tied up in three defensemen, for the next six years, who are only going to go downhill. So jokes, what a clown show. -

Good thing is with the $81.5 - $82 million cap, lots of team will be looking to make deals, and with Karlsson signing, the UFA defense market is shallow as f*ck, which could make it easier to deal Zaitsev than originally anticipated. So the ability to shake things up will be there, it's just up to Dubas to pull the trigger and make some deals. -

Someone real good is probably going to fall to 16, because NHL teams are stupid, so it's probably going to be an above average 16th overall pick. A solid 2C to play behind MacKinnon and probably someone who should have gone in the top ten but fell, that's quite the haul. Mad hype. -

Looking like the Avs are going to pass on Byram, probably going to take Dach or Turcotte. Hoping that Podkolzhin falls to 16, like in Craig Button's Mock Draft, that would be pretty sick. -

Dubas is probably looking to draft an underrated RHD in the second round I'm assuming, especially when they are looking to move Zaitsev. Any thoughts on who they could be targeting? -

As soon as people figure out the high taxes and government boondoggles are bleeding them dry, and their tech skills and/or higher education only shelter them so much, they will head hard right, or their kids will. Tax cuts certainly won't be the cause of the economic problems, though I'm sure many Eskimo Communists will be hold that delusion, bet dat.
