There is fawning, and then there is FAWNING. I will give them a pass on the former, totally reasonable, but not the latter. -

The media fawning is lame, but something tells me Muh Bianca won't let it go to her head. Keep Calm and Carry On. -

6 x 10.8 is going to be cheap in a few years, something tells me you won't be calling him Mitch Lindros then. -

You are still mad at Marner about things that never happened, and faulty perceptions about him, because of fake news triggering you, playing on your fanaticism. You are acting like a Democrat clinging to Russian Collusion right now. -

Well I told you how silly that was in foresight and now you have hindsight which proves my point about that being silly. Yet you are still calling him Mitch Lindros when the Leafs even got a better deal than you were expecting, trying to backwards rationalize an obvious example of fanaticism leading you astray. Enough of the trashing on Marner, your worst fears never came true, you got better than you expected, so let it go. If you can't let it go even now, after I was proven right and you were proven wrong, fanatic indeed, sticking with faulty impressions of Marner during the fog of war and holding it against him, after you real world evidence proved you wrong, sad. -

That's different. Marner didn't do anything that warrants being mad about, your hypothetical is comparing apples to oranges, to justify a level of outrage that makes no sense. Jets fans in that scenario would have something to be mad about, you don't. Unless all the RFA's sign way better deals for their teams than Marner did, there is literally nothing to be upset about. -

Why are you blaming Marner for not having cap space when other dudes didn't take pay cuts either? You are literally ripping into Marner for things that you give other players a pass for, including players who aren't even as important to the team. There is a such a thing as being too much of a homer, and on this you have clearly crossed that line. -

Right so Marner even gave you a better deal than you were expecting, and you're still mad, for no f*cking reason. Don't blame anyone else for not taking a bigger pay cut, blame only Marner, clown show. -

Says me. Especially when the end result is great for the team as well, while he still gets paid. Everybody wins, just because the Leafs didn't win by a unreasonable margin and Marner didn't take a huge hit for the team doesn't make him an asshole. What's the point of hating every player who plays for your team unless he pulls a Kevin Lebanc? There is none. -

There is no reason to be disloyal because they use standard negotiation tactics either, save your ire for things that actually matter, instead of getting mad at guy for doing what any smart player would do in his position. -

Obvious negotiation tactic is obvious. Standard negotiation tactics are no indication that he isn't going to sign or that he's going to f*ck the Leafs over in any way. A slight overpay today is a nice underpay tomorrow. If you had signed Marner to a three-year bridge deal, you'd be paying through the nose on the next deal. Mitch did The Leafs a big favor by taking a six year deal, even giving up a year of UFA to do it. But yeah, F*ck Paul Marner, how dare he get Mitch to cave to a Leafs friendly deal in exchange for a slight short term overpay? What an asshole. -

Players like to get paid, getting mad at them for it because they play for your team, and there is a salary cap is pretty asinine, that's being overly fanatic. Wait a few years, it won't even be an overpay. New US TV deal going to raise that cap real fast, you got Marner on the cheap really, because his contract expired before that TV deal raises the bar. Paul Marner cost you like a million in cap space, whoop dee fucking doo. -

Players don't like to give away millions of dollars just to help out the Leafs, who knew? Unlike the fanatics, I could see more clearly because I had no such fanaticism blinding me. If the worst case scenario was going to come to pass, there would have been no sign of it until after September if he still hadn't signed, so there was no reason to worry months in advance. -

The media was trying to panic fans by pretending Marner just wanted to stick it to the Leafs and only cared about term and money, pretending he was playing super hard ball when he wasn't, playing up offer sheet angles that were never going to happen and shit, pretending like it was infinitely more possible than it actually was, they did it all summer. Acting like Marner was a douche bag who might just hold out just because he was engaging in standard negotiating tactics. Hell even Dougie fell for it, while I told him calm down the entire time, and stop shitting on Marner because of bullshit media narratives that were clearly only being peddled because there was nothing else to talk about. Go back and read this thread, I called it months in advance that this is how it would play out, and there was legit zero reason to be worried. -

RFA's hold out until September all the time, the vast majority of those who do, don't pull a Nylander. You fell for summer hockey panic mongering from the media who know this, but need something to talk about anyway, so they entertain worse case scenario theories to keep the fans attention while waiting for him to sign. Going into the summer, I knew Rantanen wasn't going to sign until September at the earliest in all likelihood, you didn't hear me panicking about him not being signed because of it, or me panicking now just because he hasn't signed yet. It's too early to have any clear indication than any unsigned RFA is going to hold out into the season, so the Marner panic was complete nonsense the entire time. If you want to worry about unsigned RFA's, now is not the time to do so, slow your roll. -

Holding out until September is very common, doing so is not a sign that an RFA is about to pull a Nylander. If you are unaware of that, it's because you don't pay attention RFA signings unless there is a year where there is a lot of them, or someone actually holds out into the season, which is extremely rare. Just because it happened last year does not make it the new normal noob. -

If you expected Marner to sign before September, and that him not doing so is a sign he's about to pull a Nylander, then I got a bridge to sell you. -

Yeah well pretending the anytime a guy doesn't sign immediately, that it means it's going to Nylanderville, everybody panic, is ridiculous. You're a rube for falling for it, the media played you because you thought an outlier was the new normal, the media simply pretended that it was because they had nothing else to talk about and wanted to keep people from tuning out. -
The customs union is detrimental to Britain's long term health, it prevents them from lowering tariffs on non-EU nations to get themselves a better deal with those nations if the EU doesn't want to go along. They don't need a customs union to not tariff EU products and trade freely with them, but without it they can better trade deals for themselves without all the EU baggage holding them back.

You refuse to state what you find disgusting or contemptible, and go painting all Muslim's with a broad brush. The fact that you won't even state what your opinion is after numerous requests just goes to show you are scarred your argument will be torn to shreds, so you keep it to yourself to prevent your bubble from bursting. -
