  1. What actually happened is that the bulk of Canada's humanitarian effort never got off the ground, because as soon as it arrived in Kandahar, the Taliban attacked it, and then all the DFAIT CIDA civilians fled back to Canada, and the military was left holding the bag. Fool's errand of course, but the army can't decline a fool's errand like the civilians can.
  2. Oh yeah, Nation Building, or as my associate Yzermandias calls it "The Humanitarian Pixie Dust", is a total MIC self licking ice cone.
  3. My impression of Canadian counterintelligence is that it is entirely purposed with looking out for whistleblowers who might out the Liberal Party of Canada dictatorship for its corruption, while spying on the Tories to make sure they don't take the Liberal Party of Canada down for long. See; Mark Norman. See; Mike Duffy. And that's all they do, otherwise they rely of Five Eyes to pass relevant intelligence from Fort Meade is my guess.
  4. Not to get to per capita GDP in world US dollars. That's simple division, which is what per capita means.
  5. Canada requires its allies to do all the logistics for them, so that's not actually contributions at all, because that's net draining resources, otherwise known as a Boutique Army Token Force.
  6. You keep saying that, but its not the case, observe; $1.653 Trillion GDP divided by 36 million people, equals a per capita GDP of $45,916 US dollars
  7. I don't have to move, my people were here before Canadian Confederation, and I don't have any particular quarrel with the structure of governance of Upper Canada, the federal government is shambolic disaster, but the Ontario government is actually delivering the services I require, and I am close to the USA whenever I want to visit my cousins down South, for business or pleasure.
  8. This is why people hate Toronto. Everybody hates their oppressive overlords.
  9. Irreparable due to the fatal flaw in Confederation which creates a de facto Liberal Party of Canada dictatorship run from downtown Toronto. Downtown Toronto simply has no use for a military.
  10. No, they have PR, so the government is changing all the time, but first and foremost, despite being considerably smaller than Canada they are considerably richer, Australia $53,000 US dollars per capita GDP, Canada only $45,000 US dollars per capita GDP. They also have the better and in fact best healthcare model, which is the Swiss model of public healthcare funded by private healthcare. They also have the better military by far now. They also have a consistently lower unemployment rate. I'm not actually anti-immigrant, I favour Milton Friedman's Hong Kong model, which is libertarian about immigrants, but also about everything else, so it can afford the immigrants, because of its relentlessly hot economy.
  11. More military spending is just flushing good money after bad when your military is so broken the money just bleeds out all the orifices into the dirt. At some point you have to stop giving the patient blood expanders because you need those for patients more likely to survive, the CAF is Priority Four already in the national triage.
  12. Also governments in Canada simply pander to every sob story that comes along without restraint, and as an insightful Canadian politician recently pointed out, everybody in Canada has a sob story, and when you have to throw tax dollars at every sob story case that comes along, lest the media attack you for being monstrous, you simply don't have enough money left over to cover all the basic functions of government for which it is actually purposed.
  13. Never mind that tiny Hong Kong and Singapore are exponentially below Canada's weight class, and they both punch way harder than Canada. Singapore could actually defeat Canada head to head in a conventional war.
  14. I don't find that Canada punches above its weight class anymore, Canada's weight class is Australia, and Australia punches way harder now.
  15. Canada is simply no man's land here, Canada is being used as pawn in a chess game, which is a war. Since that war is between the NCA in Washington directing the UKUSSA JSD and the Politburo in Beijing directing the PLA, this is already a nuclear war in progress. We're just at the lower rungs of the esclatory ladder so the nuclear fangs don't have to come out yet.
  16. It's not so much that anybody is looking to nuke anybody, it just means the nukes are always the gorilla in the room. In that, in any confrontation between nuclear Hegemons, they cannot assume that the confrontation will not escalate to the point of somebody brandishing their nukes, de facto nuclear blackmail, and then things get hot really fast. In order to avoid these crises, nuclear Hegemons cannot be in anyway willy nilly, weaky meeky, squeasy pleasy, nor nicey wicey. Because any sign of weakness or lack of resolve could incite one side or the other to think that nuclear blackmail might actually work, and that is the stuff nuclear wars are made of.
  17. The issue I am asserting is not even the black market, I don't think the Canadian nanny state model is going to make profits, because the nanny aspect is so draconian, that enforcement will cost more than net revenues, so it will be a net net loss for the taxpayer, and there will still be a black market, and the Americans will eventually have many states in the market, and they will eat Canada's marijuana lunch and corner the market as the Americans do every single time.
  18. People go underground anyways, no actual evidence the black market will be effected, in Washington and Colorado the black market expanded rather than retracted. This is entirely for tapped out governments to find a new revenue stream, end the black market is just one of the rubrics they use in order to collect tax as government drug dealers. In Colorado and Washington the governments are not the drug dealers, so they're covered if it doesn't do anything other than make people rich in the end.
  19. realpolitik is inherent to the global thermonuclear standoff, which makes all nuclear powers existential threats to each other, wherein the stakes are potentially so dire, you simply cannot afford to govern by virtue signalling.
  20. Which, yes, knowing the Chicoms, would really piss them off. Which would explain the overreaction.
  21. Because through their proxies Beijing has said "White Supremacist plot against China!" which seems to invoke the Reb Menace in Washington. And then they said "Trudeau is a backstabber!" which seems to imply that there was some sort of deal in place to protect her from the aforementioned Reb Menace, and now Trudeau is failing to live up to his end of the Faustian Bargain,
  22. I mean, why would someone like Meng Wanzhou set up residence inside the Five Eyes security zone beyond reach of the PLA, if she didn't think she was politically protected from the Americans somehow?
  23. It's not so much that they can't, they just don't want to because de facto agents of Beijing are a large component of the Liberal's donor class. For all we know Meng Wangzhou is a donor and that's why she figured she was safe in Canada.
  24. All to the good, crisis meet opportunity, the Trudeaupian naivete is coming back to haunt the electorate already, fetch the rope.
  25. It's defended by the Joint Strategic Deterrent and associated Five Eyes target intelligence.
