  1. Our only objective with Russia is the middle east and Afghanistan. Other than that, they are competitors. If Russia however did magically give up its claim of Ukraine and decides to join NATO then that would be one step closer to a one world order. China would be all that is left but even then China is slowly westernizing. This is why the US did not try to stop China's rise. We see a democratic China, one that is fully integrated with the rule based order would be much more beneficial to the world.
  2. Oh no we're just pointing out the irony of politician being somehow morally upright. Trump is no politician he can ass-grab all he wants as far as I'm concern. It must be frustrating, criticizing someone's morality who never claimed to be morally upright to begin with... unlike your boy Trudeau.
  3. Someone has been drinking that Russian coolaid... Russia subjugate neighboring countries and if you want evidence look at Georgia, Ukraine, and ESPECIALLY Chechnya. Plenty of human rights violation all around including their own people. Last I checked most America's enemies human rights aren't violated as much as Russia's own citizen. Russia lacks the economic and geopolitical power the US has when the soviet union collapsed.Obviously they don't carry the same capability as a true super power. You'd rather have China and/or Russia be the new world's police? Human rights are non existence on their agenda. So as much criticism you give to America think of the alternative. America never claimed to be perfect, we do the best we can. America stands for a rule based order where the strong doesn't take advantage of the weak. We follow the rule of law, the Russian and Chinese much prefer the strong taking advantage of the weak. Look at their foreign policy for their neighbors. Their foreign policy is imperialism. Naww I'll believe the CIA intelligence and Secretary of Defense James N Mattis over Russian news media any day of the week. How many advance NATO cruise missiles did they shoot down exactly with their old soviet S300? All of them or does that sound too much to be believable, nah lets say 70 odd something out of 100. Yup lets just make up figure out of no where and claim it news. Animal Assad track record on using chemical weapons ain't that great fyi.
  4. I think Russia's future is tied up with the rest of Europe why they seek to isolate themselves by attacking Ukraine seems counter productive.
  5. I think the important point is to have good feedback. A governing system needs this feedback mechanism and democracy definitely has a good feedback mechanism built in. Second you also need some sort of checks and balance so one governing body does not become a over bearing. I think your main criticism of democracy is just really bureaucracy and not so much democracy as an ideal. Bureaucracy plague all form of government, which by definition has to have bureaucracy. Some faster, some slower which is why you have the responsibility broken up into three governing bodies.
  6. Not if you paid hush money...
  7. Justin :" Yes I'm here for my 4 am with mr. Weinsteine..."
  8. "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others" -Churchill
  9. Yeah but why can't canada help us follow said order even better. Oh wait i think Justin is doing that by not committing more defense spending on nato. What undermine nato more, words or lack of real commitment? Sounds like Canada and other nato deadbeat are doing putins job for him. The worse offender is germany. Funding russians with their energy dependency and lack of spending. If anything you should be thanking trump for raising these alarm bells. http://www.newsweek.com/trudeau-defies-trump-nato-summit-canada-refuses-increase-defense-spending-1017475
  10. Actually theres been talk in russia to use low yield nuclear weapons. The strategy is to escalate and then de-escalate. This is why we are re arming our nuclear force for low yield as well. https://www.npr.org/2018/05/07/609180810/pentagon-wants-to-deploy-low-yield-nuclear-weapons-to-deter-russia-from-similar-
  11. America fields the world best conventional force but obama wasn't willing to use it and putin knew. The euro have no will or capability.
  12. Ah so this is the heart of your international angst against america. Fair enough, I'd feel that way too if China becomes the next hedgemon. Look, as long as we still adopt the nation state model you are going to have to use a rule based order that the us setup to avoid feeling a lack of control. Right now that order is being re written to be more fair for Americans.
  13. We're already integrated... but Canadians love to point out that they're not Americans. So if that's the case then why not pay for your own defense...relying on America's deterrence?
  14. Say wut? Sure.... If NATO can get by without US support then I'm sure Ukraine would of never been invaded....oh wait.... Obama's lack of defense spending and predictability lead up to Ukraine. Even then Obama did more then rest of NATO dead beats who much prefer to pay nothing for defense whilst ripping Americans off on trade and asking to be protected. Is this how you treat allies? Hmmm "with allies like that you don't even need enemies" a popular claim Europeans like to make on Trump when he's only asking for what's fair. But, everyone recognizes the important role NATO plays in peace keeping so unless we all give up on each other and allow malign forces to dictate our lives then chip in your buck o five.
  15. If you're talking about the "guiding hand" economics is as close as you're going to get to god .
  16. Call it what they want but that's exactly what happens. They're jumping the line, decreasing the amount of legal immigrants, the ones you actually want and need.
  17. Assuming we can get past the political differences if North America becomes one huge country then it'll probably have a huge hegemonic presence in the world. We're talking about world super power status x2
  18. Okay okay so why don't you canadians just apply for american citizenship
  19. Actually, there are two competitor seeking to enter your backyard. China and Russia. I wouldn't leave NATO just yet. Got to wait for big bro to scare them away first! Canada sits on some major strategic resources, it's not strategically feasible to leave NATO for a reason, you think you're the first to think of leaving nato? There's a reason why no previous or current and future PM would consider doing such things.
  20. We do the right thing not because we care what others may think, we do the right things because its the right thing to do.
  21. They just don't get it. We are not communitarians we could care less of what others think of us. The true american spirit.
  22. What ever you do I would hold onto those US dollar. The Canadian pesos are about to get real if NAFTA doesn't work out.
  23. Nonesense, we've been consistently evil since day one. Canada was just holding us back. It's time you embrace the dark side canada.
  24. Nope what Trump did to Nato is whipped them into shape like a good drill instructor. They needed to be chewed out for their hypocrisy and short comings. But as long as they get the message and make concession to improve then its all for the better. There's really nobody in the world that can do this except for the US. Sometimes you just got to give them some tough love. The problem with the EU is that they're too busy bickering amongst themselves to resolve real conflict. They need US parental guidance i er mean leadership.
  25. Ah yes you say that but actually the "trump" card that canada had since the first nafta negotiation is no longer valid. The US has since the first nafta negotiation become energy, economically, geopolitically independent. As proven by Trump, able to project power anywhere in the world at anytime and of our choosing. Sorry Canucks we don't really need you as much as you need us. Not even China and the EU can stop our domination...muahahaha oops freudian slip. Wanted to sound evil for once, being the good guys is boring everynow and then. "It appears that the United States is now much more comfortable with its own and other energy sources and is no longer concerned with assured access to Canada’s energy resources to the extent that it feels no need for this provision. The proportionally provision was a controversial concession for Canadians in the 1989 FTA and it may be a relief to take it off the table. At the same time, in the context of its own national interest, the energy concession in return for continental integration of free trade again meant enhanced security. It meant the economic security of a privileged place inside the commercial umbrella of the world`s biggest economic power. And binding independent third-party dispute settlement was the key that convinced Canada`s leaders that they had the tools to mitigate against the worst vestiges of the consequent growth of economic dependence—that, and the explicit acknowledgement by the United States of Canada`s agricultural and cultural sensitivities. The bargaining chip of energy no longer appears to be Canada’s “trump” card." http://www.slaw.ca/2018/07/12/aluminum-nafta-negotiations-a-new-era-of-global-trade/
